Background: Johnny Bombshell grew up in New Appleoosa during the Great War of Equestria. After discovering his special talent and cutiemark, Johnny was quickly drafted into the NLR division of the Equestrian military. There he worked closely with the Ministry of Wartime Technology and the Ministry of Peace.
During a scheduled repair on a Steel Rangers suit, a zebra Mega Spell struck near his quarters, completely destroying his entire right-side, along with his wing, and two left legs. Although having his legs replaced with automail, his wing was left irreplaceable.
Quickly after his accident, Johnny was given his nickname on the front line in the battle of Shattered Hoof Ridge by Big Macintosh.

"One-Wing" Chapter 1

"Mechanic!!!" The scream for assistance echoed through the trench for all to hear, but was only meant for one pony.

Johnny stumbled as he passed behind the other soldiers, trying to find the origin of the cry.

"Over hear!" the pony across the trench beckoned, as he waved his hooves in the air.

"I'm coming!" Johnny replied as he rushed to the scene.

"What's the issue?" Johnny questioned as he arrived.

"There armor piercing rounds keep putting holes in my vital systems, they sure as hell know the weakpoints in our armor." The Steel Ranger yelled.

Johnny reached into his saddlebag and pulled out a wrench and a plasma torch, "Ill get yea' back in action in a jiffy." he assured.

In the fast paced era of the Equestrian War, on field Mechanics and Medics were a must, there simply was no time to have a man retreat with his comrades to a medic tent of mechanic facility. So they came to the solider.

"That'll patch yea' up Sureshot." Johnny told the ranger.

"Thanks kid, your a life saver" Sureshot said as he lifted out the trench with his battlesaddle. "Come on mother fu-!!!" and as he yelled emerging from the hole, Sureshot's head was blown away by an armor piercing round.

"God damn it!" yelled Johnny, "that's the third fucking one!"

"Mechanic, over here!" came another plea for assistance, this solider wasn't too far away this time, maybe twenty feet of less.

Johnny ran over to the large red earth pony, with an orange mane and a rather large build.

"Seems your in need of repair Feild-Commander Macintosh."

"Ayup." the Commander said shortly.

Johnny reached into his tool box for an extra lugnut and steel plate, "Now your gunna' feel a slight pull." Johnny said as he screwed on the steel patch. "There yea' are sir." he confirmed as he completed his job.

"Incoming!!!"

The warning was a short lived whistle following the alert of the incoming areal assault, maybe enough time to take a drag of a cigarette, or kiss someone good-bye. Then the pause was over, and what followed it was the catastrophic impact of a zebra megaspell. The sound was not like an explosion, the only loud part was the impact with the ground, after that a magnificent rainbow, and a shockwave swept over the land, forever defacing the impact sight. The bomb was dropped directly in the middle of the battle field of Shattered Hoof, killing zebra and pony alike.

You see, unlike the earths inhabitants at the time, bombs had no bias, no vendetta, only a purpose... to destroy everything and anything in its path. And it did a damn good job.

Johnny looked up from the fettle passion he had assumed, was then immediately washed over him was a searing pain all across his right side (the side facing the blast). "Holy shit! Oh, sweet Celestia the pain! Son of a bitch" Johnny cried. He followed each cry for help with some vulgar word selected from his verbal dictionary. But no pony was going to assist him, for they were either dead or wishing they were.

"Those sons of bitches! They dropped a bomb on their own men! Who the Fuck does that?! A damn animal, that's who!"

The speech was coming from a pony behind Johnny, he turned his dead to see a infantry pony with no hind legs, and what was before a grey coat, now stained red. The pony looked at Johnny, "Ehhh kid, hows it going?" the pony laughed.

"How can you laugh?!" Johnny questioned with bewilderment.

"If I'm gonna' die, I'm gonna do it with a smile." the pony said with a chuckle and a deranged look in his eye.

"So tell me, how bad is it?" the pony asked.

"What?" Johnny beckoned with a whinny.

"My neck is broke, and feel pretty tore up, but how far off am I?" The pony elaborated.

"You have no legs." Johnny stated bluntly. He began feeling dizzy, and having tunnel vision. "Whoa..." he said with a head rushed feeling.

"Hey, hey, you ain't dyin' yet, don't be a pussy." the grey and red pony teased with his groggy voice.

"So whatcha' name kid?" he asked.

"I'm Johnny." he relpied.

"I'm Butch, nice to finally meet you Johnny."

"Finally?" Johnny questioned with a weak voice

"Your the last pony I'm ever gunna' see kid, so ima' treasure the moment... well half a pony anyways..."

"What?!" Johnny screamed, he had completely forgotten about his own injury for a split-second. He looked to his side, only to see three stubs, where two legs and a wing once were.

"Holy fuck! Oh god that hurts." He screamed upon his discovery.

"Ahh hahaha! Your a riot kid." Butch said crudely.

"Oh, here it comes, the cold, the numbness, please come for me sweet Celestia, cherish my memories in the clouds. See yea kid, stay aliv..."

The pony's speech was cut short by Celestia herself.
