Chapter 5: No Comment (Part 1)

Rainbow Dash woke up, with her heart thumping in her chest, she took a few very deep breath and put a hand over her chest. She had a terrible dream and her heart was racing. She yawned and reached over to her nightstand to grab her phone. She jumped out of bed and ran for the bathroom, she quickly looked into the mirror and shook her head. She was a pretty deep sleeper so she probably didn’t hear her alarm clock, but that didn't explain why she hadn’t slept until like, noon. She jumped into the shower for two minutes and brushed her teeth. She dried her hair and body and put on a towel. She smiled and began to brush her hair very quickly and then ran over to her bed and packed her bag. She threw the covers over the bed and put her pillows on. Dash was about to go downstairs, but then she remembered something very important, clothes. She couldn’t be late or she’d never hear the end of it from Twilight, but she ran into her closet and threw on some shorts and a blue top. She grabbed her bag and ran downstairs and out the door.

She finally arrived at school with three minutes to spare.

“Rainbow!” Twilight called out to her as she and Applejack, “For a while we thought you weren’t coming!”

“Typical Dash,” AJ shook her head and chuckled, “Always late to somethin’, huh?”

“Where are the others?” Rainbow asked ignoring Applejack's comment.

“They went ahead,” Twilight started, “We decided to stay on the campus and wait for you.”

“Ah’m surprised that you didn't go ahead, Twi,” Applejack said.

“Yeah, no chatting it up with the teachers,” Rainbow smirked, “Ms. Teacher’s Pet.”

“Haha,” Twilight laughed sarcastically, “very funny, Rainbow.”

“I know,” Rainbow commented as the girls laughed and walked.

Once they got inside they said goodbye to one another and went their separate ways, but Rainbow had to and drop off her stuff in her locker, instead of going straight to class. She opened her locker and threw her bag inside, but when it wouldn’t go right in so she had to push it and take like half of her stuff out of it and then when she finally got it in she threw everything into her locker and shut the door. She yawned, due to her dream she didn’t have a very good night sleep. She only had a few minutes before class started, but a little nap wouldn’t hurt. She fell into a deep sleep in front of her locker.

“Soarin where were you last night?” Spitfire yelled into Soarin’s face as he walked into the Wonderbolt compound.

“I went to Dash’s house last night after the meeting,” Soarin looked at her facial expression and sighed, “Calm down Spitfire, I didn’t say anything.”

Spitfire glared at him and thought for a moment, “I know of your relationship and trust of Rainbow Dash’s character,” Spitfire shook her head and put a hand out on Soarin’s shoulder, “I trust her too, but as the princess said we shouldn’t tell anyone. I also have another rule for you about Dash, don’t let your friendship determined your final decision with the tryouts. Is that clear? No special treatment for anyone, got it?”

“Yes ma’am,” Soarin replied and began to walk to his room, he had a little surprise when he walked into his room.

“Hello humper of Rainbow’s,” The cheerful voice of Fleetfoot popped up out of nowhere and smiled, “Skittles got your tongue?”

“Ah!” Soarin jumped up so high, but then calmed down a bit once he realized who it was, “Oh my sweet Celestia, what the hell are you doing in my room?”

“You must have gotten a sour one,” Fleetfoot said in a seductive tone, “Heard the yellow one’s are the worst.”

“What the hell are you doing in my room and how the hell did you get in?” Soarin was angry now, but still a little freaked out as he tried to steady his heartbeat.

“It’s not like you lock your door,” Fleetfoot shrugged, “but I also have a question for you, where the hell were you last night?”

“I was at Rainbow Dash’s house,” Soarin answered.

“Oh, I see how it is,” Fleetfoot walked right in front of Soarin and stood on her toes, “While you were over at Dash’s house, tasting the Rainbow, I was in Spitfire's office taming the lion with a chair.”

“Seriously you actually used a chair this time?” Soarin asked Fleetfoot with a look of surprise, “How many times do I have to tell you with this lion Spitfire thing? Seriously though what the hell did you do to her?”

“First of all,” Fleetfoot started matter of factly before jumping onto Soarin’s bed, “I did the chair thing for the irony of the situation,” She rolled her eyes as if it was a well known fact, “So Spitty started getting pissed after I told her that I had no idea where you went and she started getting all mad and shit, but anyway, then purely out of self defense I picked up a chair held in front of me and started poking her with it. Of course she was ordering me to put it down and stop, but I yelled ‘If you don't cooperate I’ll have to get the whip!’ Then Fire Streak and Lightning Streak walked in at the wrong time and Fire was like ‘Captain Spitfire, my brother and I have the repo…’ and of course Lightning was standing there like an idiot and Fire said ‘Um, brother we should leave, they look… busy’ then Lightning winked at us and said ‘Bro, I love the women on women action, but maybe we could go for a threesome’ Fire looked so uncomfortable, but like always kept his composure and said ‘Brother’ accompanied by a harsh glare and then this is where the story gets weird. Lightning was like ‘Come on bro, I’m sure they would allow a foursome’. Fire dragged Lightning out of the room and Spitfire and I called it a night.”

Fleetfoot could barely get through her story since Soarin was laughing so hard, but to Fleetfoot laughter was pretty much contagious so she was laughing through the whole thing as well. Fleetfoot stood up and opened her wings before lifting up and touching Soarin's ceiling and flying in wide circles around his fan.

“What are you doing now?” Soarin questioned her with his eyebrow raised.

“It’s something called fun, Soarin,” Fleetfoot slowed down and landed right behind him. “You should try it more often and stop acting so much like Spitfire instead of the old Soarin. We don’t need six stiff ass’s in the top ranks.”

“Six?” Soarin asked her, confused.

“Yeah,” Fleetfoot smiled and began counting people, “Let's see we have, Silver, Spitty, Fire, Wave, Ace, and now you.”

“Spitfire is not always, stern,” Soarin defended her.

“But she’s part of the serious squad,” Fleetfoot gave Soarin puppy dog eyes and frowned. “At least I got the rest of them right, huh?”

“Nope,” Soarin started, “Fleet, we're gonna play a game called, everything wrong with whatever the hell you just said!”

“Oh, come on, you stole that from Fivestar.”

“Let's start with Ace,” Soarin cleared his throat and ignored Fleetfoot, “He can be a nice guy once you get to know him and he follows rules, but makes his own. Now with Silver, he is a hardass, stubborn captain, but if you want to call whatever the hell he does stiff ass then we need to have a talk. Besides don’t stif ass people follow orders, polar opposites if you ask me. I have to give you some credit though you got Wave and Fire right.”

“True,” Fleetfoot sighed in defeat.

“I wonder who Spitfire sent for teaching the school’s gym class today,” Soarin thought out loud.

“Oh, trust me,” Fleetfoot smirked, “She sent the worst squad for the job.”

“Oh, shit,” Soarin’s eyes widened, “She really sent…”

“Yep,” Fleetfoot flew up and sat on Soarin's shoulders steadying herself with her wings, “She sent, squad five.”

Rainbow Dash woke up and groggily opened her eyes, then she yawned and took out her phone. Nobody was in the hallway so Dash was slightly confused with what time it was. She looked at her phone, grabbed her books, and took off running to her classroom. It turns out the she was at least fifteen minutes late to her first class. She reached the door, but didn't think the professor would be very happy so she decided to go through the back door. She opened the door very slowly and quietly began to walk in. So far she hadn't drawn any attention, but when Rainbow was about to sit down in a vacant seat in the corner she noticed a pair of eyes watching her. She was still standing up, but she crouched down a little bit so that the professor couldn’t see her and then turned to the stranger.

“I know I’m late, but it would be so great if you didn't tell the professor,” Rainbow pleaded in an unusual way for her, because instead of demanding she asked, since she didn't want to have too much of a bad first impression. “Please, I am begging you not to tell him. I already know he's going to be so fur-”

“Sweetie, sit down,” Said the surprising kind, female voice beside her.

“Thank’s,” Rainbow sat down and took out some paper, “I owe ya one. The names Rainbow Dash, yours?”

“My name is Miracle,” She smiled at Rainbow Dash and Dash looked at her.

She was a girl of a bit of a smaller than average size, her hair was magenta and mint green and was in a braid. Her eyes were soft and calm, the color was light pink, and she had a trusting facial expression.

“It’s my first year here,” Rainbow started, “and I just moved to Hollow Shade with my friends from Ponyville.”

“Wow,” Miracle started, “It’s my first year at the school, but I was born and raised here.”

“It’s a pretty decent place, but to me the best part about it is the Wonderbolt tryouts!” Rainbow was beaming, “I’ve been a fan since I was little, but now I’m actually gonna get to fly alongside them. It’s a dream come true!” Rainbow was trying very hard not to fangirl too much, but that was kind of difficult.

“You might get to fly beside them,” Miracle corrected her.

“No,” Rainbow narrowed her eyes at no one in particular, “I will fly alongside them, because I, Rainbow Dash, am awesome and the best flyer there ever lived.”

“Good luck with that,” Miracle said sincerely, “But I think you would like to know that I am trying out as well.”

“No way,” Rainbow chuckled, “Well I’ll send your good luck back to you, because I don’t need it.”

“Cocky much?” Miracle raised an eyebrow.

“Only on the second day of school,” Rainbow winked at her, “So what's the professor talking about?”

“I have no clue,” Miracle deadpanned.

“Before I came in here were you even listening?” Rainbow asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I kind of was,” Miracle smiled like what she said helped anything in this situation whatsoever.

“But of course you didn't hear enough to know anything about what he’s saying,” Rainbow gave her a look the screamed, ‘well this is just fucking clichéd.’

“Hey don't look at me like that, I didn't know you until a few minutes ago after you were, like, fifteen minutes late. It's not really my fault for not hearing what he said.” Miracle explained.

“Yeah,” Rainbow started, “But you had fifteen minutes before I came in, what the hell were you doing that was so fucking important that you had to miss out on what the professor was saying?”

“You're extremely naïve,” Miracle said in a serious yet sarcastic tone.

“You sound like my grandmother,” Rainbow rolled her eyes.

“What were you doing with the fifteen minutes that you had before class,” Miracle was now looking at the person beside her and flipping to the correct page.

Rainbow didn't want to straight up say, ‘sleeping’ so she decided to go with s more scenic route.

“Well, who gets to class on time on the second day of school anyway?” Rainbow asked, again looking completely naïve.

“Normal people,” Miracle said kind of slowly like she was trying to teach a two year old a new word.

“I thought I had already said I’m not normal,” Rainbow rolled her eyes and looked into Miracle pink eyes, “I’m awesome.”

“Ok, Ms. I’m So Awesome This is Somehow an Excuse,” Miracle looked at the clock, “Looks like it’s almost time to go.”

Rainbow began to think, she had already began thinking about whatever happened last night after she finished her homework. She remembered being exhausted, but then going up and letting Soarin in. She went to sleep on his lap, but before she actually went to sleep she remembered him saying something like ‘we had a meeting about an hour ago and I think you might know something’ or something like that.

When it was finally time to leave all of the students started shuffling and getting their notes, while Miracle and Dash walked out, still confused on what they were talking about anyway. Dash would just have ask Twilight or something later, but Miracle would probably find a way to get off on her own.

“So, Dash,” Miracle started as they were walking towards their lockers, “Do you like music?”

“Hah,” Rainbow smiled, “that's a no brainier, sure I do. I loved it so much that I created a band called the Rainbooms with my friends back in high school.”

“Wow, I like it to, but obviously not as much as you,” Miracle giggled to herself.

“Hey, thaaaat rhymes,” a creepy, stretched, male voice said from above them.

Both Miracle and Dash looked up, but by the time they did he was gone.

“Ok,” Rainbow looked back down, “That was random.”

“Hey! Rainbow watch out for the,” Miracle warned Dash, but she was too late as she turned the corner, Rainbow crashed into an open locker before she had the chance to, “lockers.” Miracle whispered to herself before wincing in pain.

“Ow,” Rainbow felt dizzy, then shook her head, and got up, “What the?” She turned to look at the person who opened the locker, “Thunderlane?” Rainbow asked before returning back from normal as he turned around, “Hey, what gives?”

“What the hell?” Thunderlane cursed to himself, “How is this my fault? You're the one who wasn't watching where you were going!”

“Whatever,” Rainbow muttered to herself.

“What’s up with you?” Thunderlane looked at her up and down, “You’re usually about one or two steps ahead of me, so what’s different about today.”

“Nothing’s wrong Thunderlane,” Rainbow lied, “What’s up with you and being in my business?”

“Nothing at all,” Thunderlane closed her locker and began to walk away when he finally noticed Miracle. “Oh, hey it’s nice to meet you. My name is Thunderlane, what’s your’s?’

“Miracle.”

“Well, any friend of Dash, is a friend of mine.” He smiled, “Except that Gilda girl, I could never click with her-” He was cut off by Dash as she reached up and grabbed his shirt.

“We do not speak, of Gilda,” Rainbow let him go and began to walk away, Miracle walked close behind her.

“Well, that was a nice meeting,” Miracle said sarcastically. “Must I point out the obvious though.”

“Yeah, yeah I failed, I get it,” Rainbow sounded annoyed, she muttered something else under her breath that Miracle couldn’t quite hear.

Suddenly there was a loud crash and a door was slammed open, all attention in the hallway was drawn to it. There was a girl who had two strong guys standing over her, but a teacher walked over and began to talk to the boys, one of them followed her, but the other one still standing there he looked at the girl as she stood up. He glared and drew back his fist, the girl looked as if she already knew what was going to happen, but she let it. He punched her right in the gut which was enough power to send her into the wall, but before she could someone from the crowd reacted. They ran over very quickly and literally threw himself at the wall just in time to catch the girl. Rainbow was finally able to make out the boy, it was none other than Last Legacy. He had carefully set down the girl on the floor, but with one hand he was clutching his stomach. The other hand was helping her pick her stuff up as she cried. Rainbow got a good look at the girl and gasped, the girl was…

“Fluttershy!” Rainbow began to run towards the girl, but a door opened and hit her in the face, “Why does everything backfire on me today?” Rainbow asked herself before getting up and looking at Fluttershy. Miracle had already made her way over and was helping Legacy pick up Fluttershy’s.

“I don’t think the author likkkkes you,” Rainbow heard the same creepy voice from earlier, but when she looked beside her she only saw a puff of smoke.

She set her sights upon Fluttershy and ran over to her. Sitting beside her and gently turning her around, Rainbow frowned at Fluttershy. It was a short lived moment because Fluttershy wrapped her arms around her and pushed her head into Rainbow’s chest and began crying harder. Rainbow was softly patting Fluttershy’s back.

“Shh,” Rainbow whispered so that only Fluttershy, Legacy, and Miracle could hear her, “It’s okay, it’s Dashie. He won't hurt you anymore it’s a Pinkie promise, okay?” Rainbow asked Fluttershy and she could feel her nodding against her chest, “Aww, c’mon don't cry, smile for Dashie, Flutters.” Fluttershy was still crying, but she was slowly calming down, slowly.

“Is she okay?” Legacy asked still holding his hand over the certain part of his stomach.

“She’ll be alright, might not look like it, but she’s a strong and capable girl.” Rainbow looked down at Fluttershy, but then back up at Legacy, “Thank’s Legacy, for saving Fluttershy. It’s nice to know you cared enough to help her.” She smiled sincerely, but then went into a serious mood, “Are you good though?”

“Yep,” He was looking at Fluttershy instead of Dash, obviously still worried, “why wouldn’t I be?”

“Well…” Rainbow was cut off when a new voice joined the conversation.

“What’s going on over here?”

Rainbow immediately recognized that voice.

“Soarin!” Rainbow perked up slightly, but then heard the crying increase. She looked down and saw Fluttershy curled up in a ball clutching her stomach even more as Dash moved slightly. “Sorry.” She whispered to Fluttershy before rest her head on her’s. “What are you doing here?”

“Um, Rainbow Dash,” Soarin raised an eyebrow before sitting down beside them and looking Fluttershy, “Did you already forget that I kind of work here?”

“Oh, right.” Rainbow looked down at Fluttershy as she cried more and more, “Oh, Flutters. Calm down, please for Dashie. I promise that I will help you, but you have to let me look at you first.” Fluttershy didn’t budge, “Please, Dashie will take care of you, but let her look first.”

“I feel like I’m missing something,” Miracle whispered to Legacy, pointing to Soarin.

“Me too, but I’d rather not ruin the moment.” Legacy whispered back, “By the way my name is Last Legacy, and you are?”

“Miracle, nice to meet you.”

Last Legacy smiled at her, “You too!”

“Would you like to fill me in?” Soarin asked Rainbow as she continued to talk to Fluttershy.

“Sure Soarin,” Rainbow said sarcastically, “My friend just got punched into a wall, but no, It’s all about what Soarin wants.”

“What?” Soarin glance up at Dash, “Calm down, Dash. I was asking you a simple question.”

“Give me a break,” Rainbow glared at him, “and a second to talk to my fri-” Rainbow felt a pull on her shirt and she glanced down at Fluttershy.

“I should have tried to be assertive, but I didn’t I let you down Dashie, I’m so so sorry,” Fluttershy began to cry, “I’m so weak and defenceless, I’m sorry.”

Rainbow eyes widened, “No, no no no no, Flutters you have nothing to apologize for and trust me you are far from weak and defenceless. Remember the time that you helped me make the right choice, if it weren't for you none of our friends, including you, would not be here.”

“I know, but…”

“No but’s Fluttershy,” Rainbow looked at Soarin, “yeah, sorry about my outburst, I cared more about Fluttershy in that moment than anything else in that moment and I’m sorry.”

“Thanks,” he looked at Dash, but then cleared his throat, “So you gonna tell me or what?”

“Maybe a bit later,” Rainbow whispered to him, “Um, Fluttershy, give me one moment, okay?” Fluttershy nodded and let Rainbow go as she walked over to Legacy. “Are you sure you’re alright?”

“Yes, Rainbow Dash,” Legacy was sitting in between Miracle and Fluttershy’s stuff.

“Because, you haven't moved your hand since you caught Fluttershy,” Rainbow raised an eyebrow.

“More like broke her fall,” Legacy said to Dash.

“I’m serious with this thank you,” Rainbow gave him a glare, but it was pretty small.

“And I'm serious in accepting it, honest,” He held free hand up, “I just didn't do much.”

“So then why do you look so bad?” Rainbow looked him deep in the eyes.

“I don’t it’s just that,” Legacy stopped, he didn't want to lie about it. “I just, um, I…” He sighed, but then smiled, “Just thinking about what would have happened if nobody had tried to stop him.”

“Oh, is that all?” Rainbow raised an eyebrow, “So he cares enough to help her and feels like if he hadn’t done anything something bad would happen and it probably would,” Rainbow thought to herself, “Seems like a genuinely nice guy, but is there more to it?”

Rainbow was drumming her pencil on her desk and staring at the clock and waiting. Lunch was in a few minutes and she wanted to talk to her friends about today, because let’s be honest it’s been weird so far. Dash was also still wondering about Legacy, he was a nice guy, he doesn't just walk up to people and start talking, he’s on the quieter side, but once you get to know him he shows you his funny, dorky, and extremely kind personality. He and Rainbow clicked pretty quickly, I mean it’s only the second day and she’s already talking like they’ve been friends for a decade. The only strange part about him is his kindness and how he takes compliments. He saved two people in two days, and when Dash was complimenting him, he seemed to deny and talk down on himself. Rainbow’s thoughts began to wander to yesterday, so much had happened, she met Legacy, she got to see the lead squad again, lead quad teaching their PE class, hearing about the tryouts, getting to the actual tryouts, Legacy saving her, that Helmer guy, her strength test, squad four, and Soarin coming to her house. That reminded her about Helmer, yesterday she said that she wanted to talk to him. The bell rung and Rainbow was the first one out of the room. She dropped her stuff off at her locker and headed for the lunchroom.

In the lunchroom, Rainbow could already see lots of people, but most of them were already sitting down. The line wasn’t as long and after the boring class Rainbow just had come from she wasn’t in the mood to randomly talk to people, so she decided to just wait patiently. Her turn came up in what seemed like an instant, but was actually five minutes. She found her friends table and saw that they were missing Rarity and Pinkie Pie.

“Hey guys, what’s up?” Rainbow sat her tray down beside Fluttershy and shot her a signature smile, Fluttershy smiled back as well, but it wasn’t a huge smile.

“Hello Rainbow,” Twilight was happily eating her lunch.

“Why are you so happy?” Rainbow asked, before taking a bite of her food and cringing slightly at the terrible taste.

“I can’t tell you~” Twilight said in a sing song voice.

Applejack whispered something into Rainbow’s ear.

“We're coming over for a study session after your Wonderbolt tryout,” Applejack chuckled slightly, “But you can’t tell the others. Twi didn’t want them to feel left out.”

“Heh, of course Twilight's excited to study,” Rainbow smiled at the rest of them. “So did you guys hear that Fluttershy got thrown into a wall?”

“Rainbow Dash!” Fluttershy exclaimed looking in Rainbow’s direction angrily.

“What, you did.” She shrugged her shoulders and looked at the lunchroom door as it opened quickly.

Pinkie Pie whizzed in pulling Rarity behind her.

“DID YOU GUYS HEAR FLUTTERSHY GOT THROW INTO THE WALL AND THE SUSPECT WAS FOUND LYING UNCONSCIOUS ON THE FLOOR!?” Pinkie shouted, drawing a few strange looks from nearby tables.

“The first part, but not the second,” Twilight looked at Rarity, “Found unconscious?”

“Yes darling, it was unlike anything I had ever seen,” Rarity started, “He was spread out in the strangest of ways. His limbs were all twisted and his face was scarred.”

“That’s a rather specific position,” Twilight rubbed her chin in thought, “But who would have done such a thing.”

“Um, Twi,” Applejack spoke up drawing all attention to her, “This ain't Ponyville. Well even back in Ponyville you had a fair share of evil, but this ain’t something you could walk up to a person and do is it?”

“Not really, but Rainbow Dash?” Twilight looked at Rainbow.

“Yeah?”

“Who else was with you?” Twilight was pretty much interrogating her and Dash didn’t like it.

“Soarin, Miracle, Last Legacy, Fluttershy, and I.” Rainbow answered, “By the way none of us did it, we were all together and walked to class together, but Soarin had to go find Fleetfoot. Before you say it there is no way Fleetfoot did it.”

“So we’re still in the dark,” Rarity sighed.

“But the future's so bright Rarity,” Pinkie inhaled some fresh air put her arm around Rarity’s neck, “Can’t you see it.”

“Yes darling, our future’s are very bright,” Rarity smiled and then looked at the stage, “Look’s your friends have an announcement.”

“Hello everybody,” Fleetfoot smiled and waved at people, “I’m Fleetfoot and this is Soarin. Today in gym you will have the great honor of training with squad five!”

Soarin took the microphone, “Spitfire says you must have a swimsuit for tryouts today, because if you don't, good luck swimming in your clothes.”

Fleetfoot took the microphone back, “Ok, the captain of squad five is Crimson Steel, second-in-command is Emerald, third-in-command is Secret Wish, and fourth-in-command Astral. Ok, Spitfire gave you a brief run through of what will happen with the top fifteen, correct?” Fleetfoot saw a few nods, “So, everybody in there training until Thursday. On Friday, we will have a list of everybody who tried out, the top fifteen are moving on, but It’s actually the top sixteen, because out of the sixteen of you we are going to choose one to move up the ranks, so the other fifteen are moving on through intense training to become a reserve or a recruit squad. The recruit squad has, uh.” Fleetfoot put her hand over the microphone and whispered something into Soarin's ear and he whispered back, “Five people, because it's easier for the captain to lead like that, because in formations that will be the leader. See it all makes sense now!” Fleetfoot smiled, “Ok, so we usually don’t do swimming until you are training in your little fifteen group, but since there are so many of you and one of you are skipping up Spitty decided that it would be a good idea to do it now. Seriously though, guys out of your whole school only like… forty to fifty of you didn't decide to tryout. Good thing we have a huge pool, because it's like a little bit larger than you Mess Ha- er, I mean cafeteria.” Fleetfoot looked at the time, “Well guys, Soarin and I have to run, but don't worry we'll be back by your gym time. Bye!” Soarin was pulling Fleetfoot off the stage as she was waving. He himself sent a small smile to Dash which she happily returned.

“We all know Dashie’s gonna make it,” Pinkie smiled and jumped over the table to where Dash was sitting, “She's gonna be the best they've ever seen!”

“Thank's Pinks,” Rainbow gave a pinkie a thumbs up as Pinkie hugged her energetically, “but there's actually some real competition in this game.”

“Is that modesty from Rainbow Dash I hear, I am surprised,” Rarity gasped dramatically, “Where's a fainting couch when you need it?”

“Where's a dildo when you need it,” it was that creepy voice again, “Sweetheart, we all have questions.”

“Did somebody say something?” Rarity looked around.

Rainbow looked up hoping to catch him this time, but by the time she looked up there was nothing there.

“Dammit,” Rainbow muttered under her breath, “No Rarity, it was your imagination.”

“I could have sworn I heard something though, darling.” Rarity was still looking around frantically.

“So did I Rarity, so did I.” Rainbow sighed.

“Nice speech,” Soarin said sarcastically rolling his eyes.

“Thanks!” Fleetfoot totally ignored the sarcasm and reacted to the positive, “But then why'd you pull me off?”

“You were taking too long and I'm your chauffeur, plus Spitfire would be pissed if I left you behind.” Soarin added.

“Eh, good point,” Fleetfoot nodded her head in approval as the two of them walked to Soarin's car.

“Excited to watch the cadets?” Soarin asked as he opened his car door before climbing in the front seat.

“Yep!” Fleetfoot smiled and set her bag down on the floor, “Guess what?”

“Do I really really want to?” Soarin asked as he backed out of the school parking lot and began to drive.

Fleetfoot rolled her eyes, but still showed her excitement, “Remember Spitfire's old friend, ya now, the derby racer guy?”

“The guy we’ve been sending tryout invitations to for the past four years that he never accepts, because he's too ‘busy’?” Soarin muttered sarcastically.

“That's the one!” Fleetfoot didn't even take note to Soarin's sarcasm, “This year he actually accepted and I get to meet a fellow derby rival!”

Soarin visibly flinched, but Fleetfoot was completely ignoring him.

“Can you believe it Soar?” Fleetfoot was practically bouncing in her seat, “I actually have a rival that isn't evil or a jealous wife, but hey it's not my fault they can't look this hot.” She did a hair flip and winked at at the passing car, “Isn't this exciting?”

“Sure Fleet,” Soarin said pretty unenthusiastically.

“Hey you knew Spitty back then, did you ever get to meet him?”

“No,” Soarin answered, “I never got the chance to, but I did watch him race once, seems like a pretty fast guy.”

“I know right, this is perfect!”

Fleetfoot was obviously excited about the fact that she had a rival, but Soarin has had a fair share of rivals in the past and for him, he had to hold back the urge to punch him in the face every time the guy stepped. Don't get Fleetfoot wrong though, because she despised the guy as well, hell, they might've hated each other more than he and Soarin did. Spitfire didn't like him either, but Soarin's case was different. Soarin and the other guy who used to be in their squad, often had to fight for the spotlight, though Soarin was much more popular and likeable, the other guy always tried hard to beat him out. Most of their fight’s often began verbally, but then ended physically. One time it got a little bit out of hand. Fleetfoot and Soarin didn't speak to each other for the rest of the car ride, mostly because Fleetfoot was too busy singing to every song that came on and Soarin was thinking. When they finally arrived Fleetfoot jumped out of the car and grabbed her bag, she closed the door and ran into the compound yelling, ‘Surprise I need your help!’ over and over again. Soarin chuckled to himself and locked the car before walking in the compound himself. As he walked in he nodded respectfully to everyone he passed until he reached Spitfire's office on the second floor. He was about to knock on the door before he heard voices on the inside.

“I see where you're coming from, Captain,” Soarin identified Fire Streak’s voice, “but are you sure this is something that we should keep from everyone, especially the more professional ones, like Misty or Captain Silver Lining. I’m sure they would have some ideas-”

“FIRE STREAK!” Spitfire voice boomed, “You are to tell nobody about any of this.”

“But…” Fire Streak wasn't one to disagree with authority, but…

“That's an order, Fire.” Spitfire stern voice made Soarin slightly uncomfortable, so he decided to step in before Spitfire went off on him.

Fire sighed, “Yes, ma’am.” As Soarin knocked before Spitfire could say anything back to him.

“Fire, you're dismissed, we will continue this discussion later,” Spitfire still held onto her stern voice, “Come in.”

Soarin entered just as Fire was getting up, as Fire reached him he gave Soarin a respectful nod.

“Sir.”

“Fire.”

They passed each other and Soarin sat down in Fire’s place as he left.

“Soarin, just the person I needed to see,” Spitfire shuffled her papers until she found about 5 letters, “Wait where’s Fleetfoot?”

"When we arrived she ran into the building yelling ‘Surprise I need your help’ over and over again,” Soarin heard footsteps and looked out of the door, which Fire forgot to close, he found Silver walking past. “Silver!”

Silver turned around and locked eyes on Soarin, “What is it?”

“Do you know where Fleetfoot is?” Spitfire asked for Soarin.

“To hell if I know,” Silver began to walk of, but Spitfire stopped him again.

“Wait!”

“WHAT?” Silver turned around in the door frame and glared at both Soarin and Spitfire.

“Could you close the door?” Spitfire raised an eyebrow at his outburst.

“Sure,” Silver said in a surprisingly calm voice, before slamming the door shut.

“Ok that was fine, but next time please close the door softly,” Soarin said as he flinched.

“Trust me son, a warrior won’t flinch in battle, it’s not my fault that you have jackass reflexes,” Silver stated, “besides it’s also not my fault that you kids are wearing this door thin.”

“Are you a flight instructor or a father?” Spitfire asked dryly.

“Both.”

Silver had a point that door was pretty thin and so were the wall, but you could clearly understand exactly what was being said on the other side.

“I guess I’ll fill her in later,” Spitfire picked up one letter and looked at the envelope studying it carefully before giving it to him. “This is a letter for you from your mom and dad,” She looked on her desk before opening a drawer rummaging through it before pulling out another letter. “This is a letter from the Griffin Kingdom. We have to send some representatives through the Princess, so I was thinking that maybe later we can send our fifteen training people over there.”

“Great idea, but why?” Soarin grabbed the letter from Spitfire and began to read it.

“You obviously know about the passing of their king?” Spitfire asked.

“More like the murder,” Soarin muttered under his breath, “But why would we go? They hate us!”

“Because they’re under a new rule and this king wanted the original king dead anyway so he thought of it like we were doing him a favor.” Spitfire smiled at Soarin, “So I have a feeling Fleetfoot told you about my friend.”

“Yes, she was extremely excited about the fact that she could finally have a rival that isn't evil or a jealous wife.” Soarin rolled his eyes at the last part.

“Yes, well it seems like the two of us both have friends with abilities in this race,” Spitfire smiled, “I think Rainbow Dash will benefit a lot from him.”

“Really?” Soarin asked Spitfire.

“Yes,” Spitfire began, “As you know he is a racer, but unlike most of the others he focuses on pure speed, technique, and intellect. While Rainbow Dash has her natural gifts, but those don't always come through when you're busy focusing on racing. He, on the other hand, can predict what his opponents are doing and uses them to his advantage without making physical contact. Rainbow is special and her abilities aren't always as caught up with her mind, while he is seasoned and above, Rainbow is new and relies on everybody else's moves instead of unpredictable and seasoned.”

“So she's going to learn, but what about him?” Soarin was reviewing what Spitfire said in his mind.

“He is, different,” Spitfire began to think, “He often has his head in the books, but I believe if he spent more time practicing and flying in general rather than read about physics and be a motivational speaker and giving advice to his opponents,” Spitfire rolled her eyes at that part, “Then he would definitely be a Wonderbolt by now, but for some reason he shut down all of my invitations until now. I wonder why.” Spitfire stopped and looked as if to be in deep thought, “Unless, he feels something different as well.”

“What do you mean?” Soarin raised an eyebrow at him.

“I mean the Princess told us top secret information about some ancient artifacts, The Elements of Harmony, but even if she was only giving us some basic information and not even telling us who the bearers are or where these relics came from.” Spitfire explained, “It doesn't make sense for her to tell us this kind of information unless something's …” Spitfire paused looking for the right word, “Different, off, changing. That sort of thing.”

“You have a point, but the Princess always knows what she’s doing. I’m sure there's a good reason to whatever she's doing.” Soarin reached forward and grabbed the letter from his parents. “I wonder why…” Soarin trailed off as he began to read the letter, scanning the words over and over again.

“Is something wrong?” Spitfire asked in a caring tone.

Spitfire and Soarin had grown up together, his parents were her parents and her parents were his. Spitfire would often come to his house and spend time with him on weekends or after a long school day. The two trusted each other and loved each other like parents could only hope their two children did. From a young age Spitfire was obsessed with the Wonderbolts. Her parents would help train them both and help them with their flight techniques, being a generation long Wonderbolt family themselves. Soarin and Spitfire had often gone to Soarin's parents for advice and Spitfire loved to lists to their stories even now.

“No nothing's wrong at all,” Soarin said cheerfully, with a goofy grin on his face, “It just so happens that is Wonderbolts are invited to my brothers wedding!”

Spitfire's jaw dropped, “Your brother's getting married.”

“No way, that big guy actually found a girl who chose to be with him,” A voice from Spitfire’s couch said. Both Soarin and Spitfire turned to see Fleetfoot on the sofa, “Oh, wait, we don't know if she chose yet. My bad!” Fleetfoot smiled and looked at their shocked faces. “How are you two still surprised?”

“She has a good point,” Soarin shrugged and smiled, “I thought we already established that she’s a cat.”

“Meow!” Fleetfoot said as she purred and then licked the back of her hand repeatedly.

Soarin one day made a joke about how Fleetfoot is like a cat; She jumps high, likes to cuddle, she’s fast, stealthy, (appears to) has nine lives (with all the stupid things she does), and is even quiet when she wants to be. The joke stuck and he sometimes calls her a cat to tease her.

Spitfire balled up a piece of blank paper and chucked it at Fleetfoot’s head.

Fleetfoot jumped, “Yeow!” She glared at Spitfire and purring dangerously low, “By the way that was the ‘What the hell was that for, Spitty?’ purr.”

“Well Soarin and I were having a conversation until you showed up,” Spitfire wore a flat expression on her face, but Fleetfoot only continued to smile.

“Well I came here to talk to both of you as well,” Fleetfoot walked over to Spitfire’s desk and sat down.

“Talk to Soarin,” Spitfire got up, “I have somewhere to be.”

“Bye Spitster!” Fleetfoot called out as Spitfire left her office.

“Don’t call me that!” Spitfire yelled back in annoyance, as she shut the door quietly.

“I have something to show you,” Fleetfoot grabbed Soarin's arm and began to pull him with her, ok that’s not entirely true, she had her hand around his arm and Soarin was walking willingly behind her.

“Where are we going?” Soarin questioned her as she pulled him into the halls and then into a blank dark room.

“You’ll see,” Fleetfoot giggled playfully, “By the way could you turn on the light, you probably can’t or shouldn’t go down the stairs in the dark.”

“Sure,” Soarin reached for the light switch, but tripped on something and fell backwards before sliding. He was about to get up, but when he reached up his hand to grab hold of emerging it broke and the force caused home to slid again, but this time he also tipped back and started falling down the stairs that Fleetfoot mentioned.

“I think I found them,” Soarin said, cringing at the pain that tried to overtake him.

He could hear Fleetfoot’s laughter echoing off of the walls as she tried to stifle it, well let's be honest, no she wasn’t.

Fleetfoot ran down the stairs with ease, even when it was blank dark Fleetfoot had a great amount of stealth, agility, and speed.

“Soar,” Fleetfoot giggled as she looked at Soarin lying in a heap on the floor, “Are you alive, give me a sign or something?”

“Where are we anyway?” Soarin looked around once the room stopped spinning and saw how much attention he drew to himself after falling. He quickly got up and finally realized we're he was.

“We’re in the tech part of the Wonderbolt Workshop, but what I want to show you is in the workshop part.” Fleetfoot started to pull Soarin behind her as she waved at everyone they passed.

The Wonderbolts had a very large compound and under that compound surface area they had an even bigger basement. The basement was called the Wonderbolt Workshop. The workshop consisted of three different departments, the tech department, the building department, and the equipment department.

As they walked Soarin thought about Rainbow Dash, he seemed to be doing that a lot lately. He did like spending time with her when he first met her, she was a spunky young girl with determination. She was one of the only fans he ever met that didn’t see him as Soarin the wonderbolt, but the real Soarin. They had gone through alot together, well Dash had gone through a lot with the with the wonderbolts anyway, but she and Soarin had a special relationship. While he would never have the confidence to tell her how he feels, he hoped that she could at least feel something for him too.

“We’re here!” Fleetfoot smiled and hugged Soarin and pointed at the huge object in front of them, “Isn’t it great?”

Soarin followed Fleetfoot’s finger and his eyes landed on the huge plane in front of him. It said Wonderbolts on the side of it and had two levels, Soarin could already tell because it had two sets of windows. Fleetfoot, for as long as Soarin had known her, had loved planes and three month ago when Spitfire announced the new compound she also said that she would like to offer a creative role to anybody who stepped forward for something that would greatly benefit the wonderbolts as a whole. Fleetfoot was the first to step forward and for months she worked with the engineering crew for something that even Spitfire didn’t know about. Now seeing the finished product, Soarin was nothing short of proud of his best friend.

“It’s amazing,” Soarin looked over the careful craftsmanship.

“You haven’t even seen the best part yet,” Fleetfoot ran over to the plane and signaled for Soarin up the steps, the door opened and the two entered the large plane.

The front was smaller, but there was a pilot and co-pilot station and then they turned right and Fleetfoot opened the slinking door.

“This is an example for every other room down here, until we get upstairs.” Fleetfoot looked and pulled back four curtains, “There’s a room for every squad and each member gets a bed with storage space either on the bottom if you're down there or the top if you you’re up there.” Fleetfoot winked at him and he could tell she was about to say something, “The guys may have more junk if they’re on the top though.”

“Fleet, that’s gross,” Soarin said bluntly.

“I watch you in your sleep, it’s not that disgusting,” Fleetfoot joked, I think.

“Ok, let's get upstairs,” Soarin avoided the topic like a pro and Fleetfoot somehow convinced him to pull down the stairs.

They walked up and Soarin was amazed by what he saw. Fleetfoot had obviously put a lot of thought into this, because it was extremely special.

“Up here is squad's 1-5,” Fleetfoot smiled, “Since the lesser amount,” She paused, “That is the right word, right?” Before Soarin could answer she shrugged her shoulder, “Eh, who cares? Anyway only two people will have to be in the same room, Spitty and I and then you and Fivestar!”

“So Spitfire went with Fivestar?” Soarin smiled.

“Yep,” Fleetfoot tilted her head and tapped her chin, “She said she was going to go for squad four over five, because they’re focused and have a good tactic. She said there was no way she was about to separate Mythic and Radiant so it was down to the boys and she had our best interests at heart. She decided that Fivestar would be a better addition to our squad, because of his behavior. Besides Ace would never want to be compared to Rap-” Fleetfoot caught herself before she said the name, “Number four, besides he loves Radiant too much.”

“Ah,” Soarin sighed, “You and your shipping.”

“Yep, don't tell him I said that.” Fleetfoot pulled out her phone, “I have to call-” Fleetfoot paused and looked at the time, “HOLY CRAP SOARIN I’M GOING TO BE LATER THAN USUAL!”

“What time is it anyway?” Soarin asked calmly taking Fleetfoot’s phone away from her, “Shit, we are late, c’mon!”

Soarin and Fleetfoot ran to his care and hoped they would get there in time.

“Rainbow Dash,” Thunderlane waved his hand directly in front of her face and she looked at him.

“What?” She snapped at him.

“Were you even listening to me?” Thunderlane raised an eyebrow at her.

“Don’t answer a question with a question and no.” Rainbow put her head on her desk.

“I- never mind.” Thunderlane looked at Rainbow slouching over her desk, “Are you ok?”

“Dude, I’m fine.” Rainbow stood up and pulled Thunderlane up as well. “C’mon let's get to PE!” Thunderlane shrugged at her attitude change, but she seemed to do that to him pretty often he just let it slide.

Rainbow and Thunderlane walked down the halls and saw a familiar face.

“Oh, hi guys,” Last Legacy smiled at them, “Can I walk with you?”

“Sure,” Rainbow reached back and grabbed Legacy’s hand pulling him up to walk in between her and Thunderlane, “You can walk right there.”

Legacy raised an eyebrow at her, but ignored it.

Thunderlane broke the ice, “So why are we so quiet?”

Rainbow just looked at him, “Great attempt to break the ice, but leave it to the experts,” Rainbow cleared her throat, “What’s your goal with the Wonderbolts?” Rainbow brought her hand up to her forehead, “That sounds like a Twilight question.”

“To make it to the top fifteen at least,” Legacy shrugged, “But it’s all about self confidence and even if I don’t make it I hope I at least learn something from the experience. Though if I do make it to the top fifteen I’m looking to make it to the top! I’m also looking forward to beating you in something.”

“That’s the spirit!” Rainbow patted him on the back, “What about you Thunderlane?”

“I’m looking forward to hopefully not dying or quitting!”

“That’s kind of the spirit!” Rainbow paused and thought about it, “Nevermind, that is not the spirit, fix yourself Thunderlane!”

“It’s good to have goals!” Legacy was giving Thunderlane a thumbs up as Thunderlane chuckled.

“Aww, that’s adorable. Can we keep him?” The same voice as earlier said.

Rainbow looked up only to see the outline of a man above her. She was starting to get annoyed with this person. If this was some kind of game she wanted out!

“If you don’t I will,” Thunderlane shrugged his shoulders not even noticing Rainbow was no the one who said that, “He’s a nice guy.”

“Thunderlane, take it from the experts, again,” She put a hand on his shoulder, “We’re talking about him and he is right fucking there!” She shook his shoulders before walking on.

Legacy seemed to be more or less respectfully ignoring them.

“Look there’s the gym,” Legacy pointed the double doors and the three of them opened the doors. Rainbow was heading to the girls bathroom to change when she noticed someone standing in front of the door blocking the entry. Naturally Rainbow went with her first instinct.

“Why are you blocking the door some people need to change!” Rainbow stood directly in front of the person, also skipping the line.

“You’ll live without changing,” The woman snapped at all of them.

“Excuse me, but you don’t have to make everyone else’s day hell just because you feel like shit!” Rainbow yelled back in her face.

“I recommend you all leave.”

Rainbow muttered something under her breath as the woman said that and walked away begrudgingly.

“Do you know why the changing rooms are off limits?” Legacy asked Dash as he sat down beside her.

“Nope, but I should’ve shoved something so far up her stuck up ass-” Rainbow started, but never finished.

“Rainbow Dash!” Legacy yelled at her, “You don’t know what that person is going through!”

“Well, I know she’s a sorry ass bitch,” Rainbow muttered just loud enough for him to hear.

“You know she could have just been the slightest bit different,” Legacy started, “But then you just put a whole new label on her. She could’ve just been doing her job that she didn’t want to do in the first place, besides how would you feel if a teenager started yelling in your face because you were doing your job.”

“Like that teenager is right,” Rainbow replied, sarcastically rolling her eyes.

“If you're not going to listen to it now at least keep it in mind for future references,” He closed his eyes for a second and then reopened them, smiling at her, “So you excited?”

Rainbow raised an eyebrow at him, to her it seemed like he was hiding a part of himself. She studied him before looking up into his icy eyes. She could see slight anger, but it was more happiness and the anger didn’t show on his face. Still she felt as if there was more.

“Yep, even if it is of to a bad start,” Rainbow forced a smile, “You can’t beat getting to train with Wonderbolts.”

“Apparently you can’t,” Legacy shook his head and smiled.

Rainbow was about to say something, but got interrupted by Crimson Steel, captain of squad five.

“As you may have been able to tell from the locker rooms is that not everyday runs smoothly,” Crimson Steel looked at all of their angry expressions, “All Wonderbolts have to go through sometimes when whatever happens happens and there’s nothing you can do. You all were lucky and got the minor, the major is waking up to high alert signals or…” He paused to think.

“Pete’s cooking,” They all heard Astral say, she tried to hide it, but Crimson raised an eyebrow at her.

“She’s not wrong ya know,” Emerald agreed, “Guys, the one thing not to look forward to, Mess Hall food.”

“We are getting a bit off topic here,” Crimson looked at all of the students, “Laps, let's see what you’ve got!”

At the end of the class everyone's was panting and gasping for air, as squad four looked at them in approval. It had been a tough period for everyone, but somehow in the weight of the world Rainbow Dash, Thunderlane, and Legacy still managed to impress. Well there were many more who impressed squad five, it was clear to Rainbow Dash that they were looking for consistency. They did their laps and everyone pretty much passed that part. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were obviously at each other's throats and Legacy seemed to be pacing himself, unfortunately Thunderlane was among the few who over exerted themselves during the beginning.

The next part was a little bit different, it was an obstacle course. The course didn't consist of a too high difficulty level, but again consistency was key. Applejack seemed to be able to maneuver through the course pretty easily. Rainbow Dash was using her smaller size and speed to her advantage, besides it wasn't like one of those obstacle courses where you are timed and one person at a time, no, it was covering the whole entire track and you had to keep pushing forward the whole time. Legacy was pretty good at maneuvering and making room for himself in tighter spaces, which is not something you see everyday, especially not with most men. Thunderlane was a die hard and his determination was strong, but he had the wrong approach to the course and that only slightly brought him back. Helmer's approaches were much different than everyone else's which made very much sense due to his size. He was a very fast runner and seemed to have plenty of strength, that much was obvious, but he would always take to outside of the track which is not something many others were attempting.

After that it was all cardio and that was when Soarin and Fleetfoot ran in, Fleetfoot screamed ‘are we late?’ and everything outside just stopped everybody just froze where they were, they all just looked at her. The cardio was brutal, there were several wing-ups, they had push-ups, planks, sit-ups, curl-ups, and even bench presses, but even with cardio consistency was still a necessity.

“How did you two hold up so well?” Thunderlane asked Rainbow Dash and Applejack.

“Do you even know me Thunderlane?” Rainbow asked, “I am awesome so don't you forget it!” Rainbow announced to all of the group, “Besides, racing is my thing on land or in the air.” She said that part a little bit quieter.

“Hello awesome it's nice to meet you,” Legacy joked, “Do you have any idea where my friend Rainbow Dash went?”

The small group laughed at Rainbow’s expense.

“Har, Har,” Rainbow rolled her eyes, “You are hilarious, I would love to meet your sense of humor.”

“Sorry he doesn't accept visitors,” Legacy said before falling into a coughing fit, “You see, this is why I don't lie, it always backfires.”

Rainbow looked at Applejack and saw her smile in appreciation, being the element of honesty must be difficult sometimes, considering so many people lie as a lifestyle choice. It must've felt good having somebody on her side.

“You Applejack?” Thunderlane wasn’t looking in Applejack's direction, but he was a scratching the back of his neck and facing the exact opposite way.

“Ah’ve been working on my fath- er, grandmother's farm since Ah was around six years old,” Applejack caught herself before she called it her father's farm, for he had passed away eight years ago. “You can say obstacles were included.”

Legacy seemed to catch the father part to and it seemed to sadden him slightly, and Rainbow suddenly noticed something about him. Legacy honestly did care about everyone else, but the negative emotions like anger and sadness didn’t reach his face like his positive emotions did. He always appears charismatic and perhaps it was just part of his lifestyle. He always looked happier and more friendly making him a person you would quickly gravitate to then if not that his caring demeanor. He truly hates it when someone gets hurt. Just like before though Rainbow felt as if there is more to it than what meets the eye.

Fleetfoot walked over to the group and smiled at them.

“Hey you guys, how are you doing?”

Thunderlane stood there unsure of what to say to a top ranking official, Legacy waved awkwardly, Applejack was mostly looking down, but she glanced at Fleetfoot out of the corner of her eye and smiled, since she knew that Fleetfoot was one of her best friends friends, and Rainbow winked at her before replying.

“Hello Commander Fleetfoot, we’re doing good. Right guys?” Rainbow turned to the rest of her group and signaled them to say something.

“Yes, I am doing fine ma’am,” Legacy said standing pretty stiffly and looking kind of uncomfortable. Fleetfoot giggled at him and booped his nose.

Then as she turned to the rest of them, Rainbow caught Fleetfoot saying something like ‘Wave Chill Jr’.

“Well I gotta get going, today's going to be a busy day with lots of running involved,” Fleetfoot smiled at all of them, “Wish me luck!” She turned and began to walk away.

“Good luck,” Thunderlane blurted out a little too loud.

Fleetfoot paused registering what he just said before shrugging and walking away, Rainbow Dash turned her head and facepalmed, Applejack groaned quietly and shook her head, and Legacy seemed to chuckle it off.

“Thunderlane,” Rainbow looked him right in the eyes before sighing, “Fix yourself.”

Rainbow Dash arrived at the Wonderbolt compound at 4:45. She was carrying a bag with her bathing suit, a towel, and even some goggles just in case. Rainbow was not at all worried about today's test. In high school she had been the swim team captain for two years in a row. High school was a strange time for Rainbow Dash and her friends, but that doesn’t need to be discussed quite yet.

On the stairs, of the compound, you could see Soarin and Spitfire standing in full Wonderbolt uniform wetsuits. Spitfire had a clipboard and she seemed to be writing something down pretty last minute. Soarin and Fleetfoot were both sitting down talking to each other. Fleetfoot was wearing a one piece bathing suit with the back cut out. Soarin had a clip board like Spitfire, but he seemed to be reading it instead of writing in it.

Rainbow looked around to see if she could find any of her friends, but before she could really look around someone caught her eye. He had light blue and black hair in a blown back style, he had light orange eyes, and had a familiar face that Rainbow couldn’t quite put her finger on. After a few seconds Rainbow figured he wasn’t much to look at and went back to looking for her friends.

She found Legacy and Miracle who were having a conversation. Then she started to look around for Thunderlane, but everyone was a bit taller than her so it was hard to see over them.

“Don’t move, Legacy!” Rainbow got a running head start and then jumped right onto Legacy’s back. He quickly grabbed her legs to keep her steady.

“Why did you do that?” Legacy turned his head to face her as best as he could, but in his angle he couldn't even see her.

“I needed to find Thunderlane, but everyone’s taller than me,” She was looking around and trying to see if she could find Thunderlane’s hair.

“Couldn't you have, I don’t know, flown?” Miracle joined the conversation raising an eyebrow at her.

“Flying would draw too much attention,” Rainbow answered pushing her body weight up by holding her hands right below Legacy’s neck and holding herself up.

“Right, because this is drawing way less attention,” Legacy commented sarcastically before taking a look around at everyone who was looking at them, even Soarin’s attention was drawn, “Dammit Dash, get off of me!”

Rainbow slid off of his back and looked around, “What the hell are you guys looking at?”

“A girl with an attitude that’s what.” One of them muttered quietly, but they would soon learn that Rainbow Dash had very good hearing.

“Hey, at least I have a personality.” Rainbow shoot back at her and all you could hear around them were “ooh’s.”

“You’re going to regret this girl,” She spat in Rainbow Dash’s face and glared at her.

“That is nasty,” Rainbow that voice from above her, but she didn’t care right now.

“Bitch,” Rainbow snarled at her.

Rainbow and the girl glared at each other for a few seconds, before they heard the voice of Spitfire.

“Ok, everybody,” Spitfire immediately had everyone’s attention, “I hope you’re all having a good day because we’re about to make it hell.”

“Wow, that was blunt,” Fleetfoot whispered to Soarin who kept his attention on Spitfire.

“Today there is a lot going on, but first I need to explain our point system,” Spitfire started, “We will be testing you on everything and I mean everything, not just your flying, but the way you act outside the tests as well. Basically, as long as you’re in that building, you’re been judged. We watch everything, see everything, hear everything, judge everything. Us Wonderbolts are a team and in a team you need to work together. How you treat each other will be very important, especially since we work in squads. If you have anything personal with somebody else keep it in your time not me time. We will be using this points system to evaluate you and it will bring you to your final score. Sure we will be scoring you on your flying technique, but read my lips cadets,” Spitfire looked around at all of them holding eyes on a certain man before continuing, “Your flight skills are not the only thing that matters and I’m not even to the best part yet. What is the best part, you may ask? We’re not going to tell you your current score, how to earn points, or how to lose points. By doing this, it means that you can’t play the system to try and earn more points. So basically, all you can do is try your best and not fuck up. Any questions on the system?”

Rainbow looked around at everyone as they silently nodded. She thought that what Spitfire said was pretty cut and dry so nobody really should have a question. Spitfire made it sound easy enough, but maybe it wasn't.

“Good, I thought I made that pretty clear,” Spitfire glanced at Soarin and Fleetfoot who both nodded. “If you don't go to the college then you were invited by the invitation that I sent to a select few. None of you live here so we decided that we would go ahead and give out room assignments. Right now the only people who need to stay here are the ones who were invited by my invitation, but everyone is welcome to stay if they choose to. There are several room numbers that go from one to twenty-five. There will only be up to eight people per room and they will be chosen randomly.” Spitfire moved over to where Soarin and Fleetfoot were standing. “I would like you to follow Soarin and Fleetfoot into the building and go to either of them to get your room assignments. Boys with Fleetfoot and girls with Soarin.”

Rainbow followed Soarin in and stood in line. After about two minutes it was her turn to get her room assignment. She stepped up to Soarin and he grabbed a number out of his basket and a sheet of paper, he gave it to her and whispered.

“This is a waiver because we just want you to know that if you are dead by the end of this we promise that it was not our fault.”

“Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind,” She winked at him and began to walk away. She kept walking down the hallway until she found room #10. She opened the door and walked in. To her surprise she found that she knew most of the people in the room already. There was Legacy, Miracle, she saw Helmer who had an individual bed (They had obviously planned for him to be in this room), the young man that she was inspecting earlier was also in that room, she saw another boy that couldn't have been to much older than hers offing on his bed reading, she saw one bed that was obviously occupied by somebody because it had a suitcase on it, but looked like it had been ripped up, also nobody except Miracle seemed to be bothered by it, and there were two beds that were not occupied. Rainbow chose the bunk bed above Miracle, who was hugging her after she learned that Rainbow was also in the room. Rainbow noticed that Miracle was already dressed in a bathing suit. It was light pink and complimented her light pink eyes.

Seeing Miracle dressed made Rainbow Dash feel like she should get dressed early as well. Rainbow Dash walked over to the other side of the room and opened the bathroom door. It was a unisex bathroom that had two different showers and two different toilets. Rainbow Dash went into the one marked women's and walked into the stall locking the door behind her. She got dressed into a Wonderbolt bathing suit with her name on the back of it. She got this Wonderbolt bathing suit about two years ago and she had never warn it until now. It was given to her by one of her favorite Wonderbolts of all time and it was a way that Rainbow Dash would never forget her. Rainbow couldn't wait to talk to her again and see her again.

Rainbow walked out of the stall and bathroom and went back into the bunk room. She noticed Legacy looking at her bathing suit a little bit confused, but Rainbow just mouthed, ‘I’ll tell you later.’

A few minutes later another man came in and set his things on the open bed and running to the bathroom to get dressed. He emerged with his swim trunks before sitting on his bed relaxing. He noticed Rainbow sitting on her bed and doing something on her phone. He whistled and she looked at him confused, he winked at her and blew her a kiss. Rainbow Dash looked the other way and gagged. The young man was about to say something, but he was interrupted by Spitfire's voice over the intercom.

“Everybody please report to Pool A!”

Rainbow jumped out of the bed and stuck the landing before walking out of the room with Miracle and Legacy.

‘This is going to be an interesting day,’ Rainbow thought to herself before walking out and seeing what today's test would hold.
