Chapter 7: The Seven Deadly Sins

Rainbow Dash was not a light sleeper, not in the slightest, but this morning she was awoken by her phone. She yawned and stretched before reaching over to her nightstand and grabbing her phone. She notice that she got a text from Twilight on the group chat. She wasn’t too mad at Twilight for waking her up since she would’ve gotten up soon anyway, but she read the text anyway.

‘Girls! Meet me behind the school at lunch, but please come together. I need to speak with all of you about something very important!’

Rainbow was curious to what Twilight would want and got up to get ready. She went through her morning routine and went downstairs. She went down to the kitchen and grabbed some cereal. She walked over to the fridge and opened it. The contents of her fridge consisted of milk, powerade, some fruit, orange juice, apple juice, some vegetables, some bottled water, ground coffee (that be never drinks), eggs, gatorade, and some salad dressing. She grabbed the milk and closed the fridge. She put the cereal in a bowl and poured the milk in as well. She got up to grab a spoon, and out of the corner of her eye she saw a car pull into the driveway. She put the spoon into the cereal and walked over to the front door. As she opened the front door she saw Rarity in front of her.

“Hello darling,” Rarity smiled brightly at Rainbow.

“Rarity,” Rainbow had a flat expression on her face, “What are you doing here?”

“Well darling,” Rarity started, “Last night, I couldn’t help, but notice that you came home without your scooter.”

“Yeah, so?” Rainbow raised an eyebrow at her.

“So, I came here to give you a ride to school,” Rarity turned her head and crossed her arms, “And if you refuse it will be the last time I ever do anything nice for you!”

“Fine,” Rainbow fully opened the door to let Rarity in, “Come in.”

“Oh thank you darling,” Rarity walked over to the counter and sat down beside Rainbow. “I would also like to apologize for my behavior last night. That was very unladylike of me and I shouldn’t have shouted at you.”

“Yeah you should be,” Rainbow deadpanned.

“But that doesn’t excuse your behavior, Ms. Dash!” Rarity exclaimed, “I understand that Fluttershy was your only friend for a while, but you can’t say that Fluttershy allowed this kind of behavior.”

“Don’t you have better things to do instead of interrogating me?” Rainbow asked her.

“I haven’t even asked you any questions yet,” Rarity commented. “But if you want me to ask, why would you mother allow you to act like this? Didn’t she raise you better?”

“Well Fluttershy is quiet and sweet and she ACTUALLY LISTENS TO ME!” Rainbow halfway ignored Rarity’s comment and shouted at her, “She doesn’t have a problem with how I act, cause that’s part of who I am, and she respects that. So, now it’s time for me to interrogate you. Who the HELL do you think you are?”

“Language!” Rarity shouted.

“Geez, thanks ‘mom that I never had.’” Rainbow got up and grabbed her bag, “Get out and forget about driving me to school. I don’t freakin’ care if you never do anything nice for me. Just get the hell out!”

Rarity’s eyes filled with angry tears as she grabbed her purse and got up, “All I wanted was to do something generous for a friend!” Rarity walked over to the door where Rainbow Dash stood. Rarity felt her magic and even saw her magic headpiece and horn show up, but she didn’t care, they fizzed out in a purple light. Rarity ran to her car and drove away.

“I’ll run to school today,” Rainbow put her now empty bowl into the sink and grabbed her bag. She made sure it was on tightly enough so that it wouldn’t fall off and ran out of the house.

She made it to school earlier and faster than she intended to. She often ran to vent or get her anger out and the faster she runs the better she feels. Rainbow spotted Fluttershy and ran over to her.

“Hey, Flutters!” Rainbow stood behind Fluttershy in her toes and looked over her shoulder at the book she was reading, “What’s up?”

“Twilight let me borrow a book that she got from her sister Celeste,” Fluttershy smiled, “It’s about all of the animals in Equestria.”

“Is Celeste kinda the princess now?” Rainbow asked.

“Yes,” Fluttershy looked up from her book, “Well, actually it’s kinda complicated.”

“Ughh,” Rainbow groaned, “Spare me.”

“Oh, look there’s Pinkie,” Fluttershy put her pink and yellow butterfly bookmark back into her book and pointed to the other side of the campus.

“Fluttershy! Rainbow!” Pinkie waved her hand in the air, “Come here, it’s important!”

“Cool, let's go!” Rainbow quickly grabbed Fluttershy’s hand and began to run. Fluttershy yelped and was just barely able to get a hold of her book.

“Good morning Pinkie!” Fluttershy greeted with a warm smile.

“Morning Pinkie, what is so important that I needed to run over here?” Rainbow asked her bouncing friend.

“Um, you came willingly,” Fluttershy pointed out as Rainbow glared at her.

“I was just wondering if either of you had seen Applejack or Rarity yet,” Pinkie tapped her chin in thought.

“Have you tried seeing if you can spot them banging in a janitor closet?” Rainbow deadpanned with a flat expression.

“Lemme go check and if I don’t come back I joined in on the action,” Pinkie winked at them before running off and after she left both Fluttershy and Rainbow gagged.

“Rainbow!” Fluttershy scolded, before quieting down, “That was rude.”

“That was true,” Rainbow shot back, Fluttershy was silent and Rainbow Dash began to laugh, “And you believe it to!” Rainbow puffed out in fits of laughter.

“I do not!” Fluttershy defended herself.

Rainbow finally settled down, “Right…”

“Who are you accusing anyway?” Fluttershy raised an eyebrow.

Rainbow shrugged, “Both, either, neither. Who knows at this point?”

“Ok girls, didn’t find Applejack and Rarity in there, but I did find the janitor making out to a picture of his wife,” Pinkie held a smile as she spoke, “So I did get to see some action.” Rainbow and Fluttershy both shared a look of disgust and horror.

“Um, am I interrupting something?” The voice of Thunderlane asked from behind them.

“No time to interrupt like the present,” Rainbow pulled Thunderlane up in front of Pinkie. “Pinkie how about you tell Thunderlane about your cupcake fetish.” She deadpanned grabbing Fluttershy by the hand once more.

“Cupcake fetish?” Pinkie crooked her head to the side, confused.

“I mean bakery,” Rainbow corrected herself.

“Oh, well-“ Pinkie looked at the spot where Rainbow and Fluttershy once stood and looked in the distance where she saw two figures booking it into the school. “I see what they did, that sneaky sneaky mouse that Rainbow Dash is.” She looked back at Thunderlane beaming, “So do you want to hear about my cupcake fetish?”

“Uh,” Thunderlane’s eyes darted around, “Is that a goose?”

Pinkie turned around and Thunderlane just ran and hid. “Geese are not popular in this area. I know, you wanted me to go on a wild goose chase, right?” She turned back around to face him, but there was no ‘him’ to face. “Where’d he go?” Pinkie looked both way and spotted movement in a bush to her left, she opened it and yelled in his face, “You will never escape Pinkie!”

“Please don’t kill me,” Thunderlane squeaked.

“Um, thank you, but is Thunderlane going to be okay,” Fluttershy asked nervously as the two entered the main building on campus.

“Thunderlane may not act like it, but he’s braver than he looks,” Rainbow shrugged, “And Pinkie will just get over it. So nothing to worry about.”

“Hello Rainbow,” Rainbow turned around, but she honestly didn’t need to because she immediately recognized the happy voice of Last Legacy.

“You have a problem with just popping up behind me, have you noticed that?” Rainbow asked flatly.

“I apologize,” Legacy rolled his eyes slightly, “Next time I’ll announce it from a mile away.”

“Um, hello,” Fluttershy greeted him shyly. Legacy’s focus shifted from Rainbow Dash to Fluttershy and when he recognized her face he smiled very brightly.

“Hello, Fluttershy!” Legacy held out his hand and Fluttershy carefully shook it, “It’s good to formally meet you!”

“You too,” Fluttershy looked up and looked into his eyes and smiled.

“Jeez Legacy,” Rainbow crossed her arms, “I don’t know if you’d me better friends with me or Rarity.”

Fluttershy giggled lightly and Legacy started walking backwards, “Well I’ll see you in gym-“ He bumped into something pretty hard and it caused said thing to fall over. Legacy turned around and quickly bent over to help the boy up. “Here let me help-“ He was cut off when the boy slapped his hand away.

“I can get up on my own dammit,” The boy pulled himself up and Rainbow finally got a good look at him. He was a tall boy, but a little bit taller and more muscular that Legacy, he had blonde hair, and red eyes. He was of an athletic and model build and wore simple clothes.

“Well, then I’m sorry that I knocked you o-” Legacy was once again cut off by the boy as the boy walked away and as he walked by Legacy he moved a bit closer to him and with his arm relaxed by his side slammed into Legacy’s before walking off. As he walked away Legacy held strong, but after he was out of sight he winced. “Holly crap that hurt.”

“Oh, that was extremely rude,” Fluttershy commented softly, but forcefully, “Even if you did knock him down you still tried to help him.”

“It’s fine, he could be an okay and decent person,” Legacy smiled, “He could just be angry that I’d knocked him down.”

“Your right,” Fluttershy agreed, “And to think I got so angry.”

“Er, you did?” Legacy asked confused, ‘this girl has a very interesting view of the word angry.’ He thought.

“Sorry, Flutters I have to go,” She turned back to look at Legacy before grabbing his arm and pulling him with her. “C’mon Legacy.”

“Doesn’t seem like I have much of a choice,” Legacy walked up by Rainbow, “What’s up?”

“The sky,” Rainbow answered bluntly, “Nothing’s up Legacy, I just want to see if I could figure out what we're doing today in gym by who's here.”

“Then why’d you need me?” Legacy asked her.

“Fluttershy may not act like it, but unless it’s helping me train in parkour in the afternoon after school like we did in high school,” Rainbow recalled her last school year, “She doesn’t give a damn about sports.”

“So you do parkour?” Legacy asked Rainbow amazed.

“Yep, been doing it since I first met Fluttershy,” Rainbow have a very light blush on her face, “It was thanks to someone I met just before that really inspired me.”

“Aww, that’s cute,” Legacy gushed.

“No it isn’t, it’s just a story.” Rainbow crossed her arms.

“No, I mean you look so cute when you blush!” Legacy teased.

“What?!” Rainbows eyes widened. “No I don’t!”

“Yes you do!”

“No I don’t!”

“Yes you do!”

“No I don’t!”

“Yes you do!”

“No I don’t!”

“Yes you do!”

“No I don’t!”

“Yes you do, but…” He patted her lightly on the head, “We’ll just end our argument here.”

“Oh you think your a real man, huh” Rainbow’s expression immediately flattened as soon as she heard that voice, that irritating voice. “You trying to steal my lady.”

“Lightning Streak,” Rainbow muttered before turning around to face him. She glared daggers at him, “Commander with all due respect, I AM NOT ANYBODY’S FUCKING LADY SO SHUT THE HELL UP!” Legacy’s eyes widened as he backed up away from the enraged Rainbow Dash, “I AM NOT YOUR FUCKBUDDY!”

“I like them fiery,” He clicked his tongue and winked at her, Rainbow slapped him in the face… hard and he fell to the ground.

“Brother, what have you gotten yourself into this time?” Rainbow heard the refined voice of Fire Streak.

“She still wants me,” Lightning groaned.

“Ohhh,” Fire Streak shook his head, “Misty Fly will not be pleased when she finds out that you have been slacking off and hitting on young women.” Fire looked down and say that his precious brother had not moved from his spot and sighed reaching down and supporting him so he could walk, “Come on brother, she only slapped you.” He turned and looked at Dash before smiling brightly after he realized who his brother had hit on, “Ah, I apologize for my brothers behavior miss. I hope you can forgive him.”

“Yeah, sure,” Rainbow turned away from Fire.

Squad three was a unique squad and most likely the closest and most family like. They were also a dramatic bunch and the greatest actors, which made them very well suited for missions that involve going undercover. Fire Streak was the captain, he is proper and polite, but he and his squad believes that Misty Fly is most deserving of that title. He lets Misty take control of the squad and coordinate their show routines. Then there’s Surprise… Surprise is new on the squad, but immediately fits right in with them. She is crazy and out there and a lot like Pinkie Pie. Lightning Streak is a ladies man, well he thinks he is. He hits on girls wherever he goes and took a liking to Rainbow on her first visit to the compound,

“THAT SON OF A-“ Rainbow immediately paused as she felt Legacy’s arms around her torso as he picked her up, she immediately blushed, “What the hell Legacy? WHAT ARE YOU DOING!”

“Sorry, but you’re staying like this until you calm down,” Legacy said surprisingly very seriously, “And stop kicking me.”

“Fine,” Rainbow relaxed and slid down, “Thanks Legacy, now I can properly kill you.”

“I should’ve seen that coming,” Legacy chuckled nervously.

“Spitfire,” Soarin called out as he walked into her office. Spitfire was sitting at her desk and doing paperwork. “We need to talk.”

“What is it Soarin?” Spitfire asked dutifully.

“It’s about the compound,” Soarin walked over to the couch by Spitfire’s desk and sat down, “People have been reporting strange occurrences and I just wanted to know if you knew anything about them.”

“Actually I do,” Spitfire nodded and glared at Soarin, “Fire Streak was repotting it yesterday before you interrupted.” Soarin rolled his eyes as Spitfire continued, “I was going to call a captain meeting last night, but instead…” Spitfire reached over and pressed the button on the PA system, “All captains please report to the meeting room for an all captains meeting.”

“Come on Soarin,” Spitfire walked past the couch and turned back to face Soarin, “Go grab Fleetfoot and bring her along with you.”

“Yes ma’am,” Soarin ran out of the door to get Fleetfoot.

(A few minutes later- in the meeting room)

“Ok,” Spitfire sat at the head of the table, “You may be wondering why I called you all here.” She looked around at the collective nods of the group, minus Silver, “Well, I have been getting some reports about some strange occurrences around the compound and we have come here today to put our heads together and see if we could figure this out.” She unpaper clipped a stack of papers and passed them to the people on the opposite sides of the table, “Pass those down please,” Once everybody got a paper Spitfire cleared her throat, “Since Fire Streak is not here today I will be reading his report from yesterday. ‘This morning I was awoken by the sound of shattering glass. I immediately got up and flew through the compound to see if something was wrong, but to my surprise everything was in its place. I walked outside just to be safe and in the sky saw a huge blue orb floating in the sky. It shot down in the forest and when I turned back around to go inside and wake up my squadmates there was a shadow that was not my own following me. Then I heard a voice, “What a fool these Wonderbolts are, they were better 10 years ago.”

“I agree with that,” Silver commented.

‘But when I looked back it was gone.’” Spitfire read from the paper ignoring Silver before looking up. “Does anybody else have a report?”

Captain Radiant Shield of squad four stood up, “Two days ago I was walking along with my squad in tow headed for the track. I noticed someone flying in the air with dark blue glowing wings. My squad and I immediately gave chase, but the figure was too agile and was avoiding us like a pro. The most surprising part is that it showed no hostility. We unfortunately lost sight of them around the woods though.”

“Thank you Radiant Shield,” Radiant sat down and Spitfire looked around the room, “Does everybody have a similar story?” Everybody in the room nodded. “Ok then let me hear them.”

(Two hours later)

“Okay,” Spitfire announced, “I have a solution.” Everybody turned to Spitfire in shock.

“Well that was quick,” Fleetfoot rolled her eyes. “Only took two hours of my wasted time. Congrats Spitty congrats.”

“One night ago, squads 1-3 were invited to a meeting with Princess Celestia about some magical artifacts called the elements of harmony,” Spitfire explained, ignoring Fleetfoot’s comment, “She said that there are six of them: Magic, laughter, generosity, kindness, loyalty, and honesty. She said that these girls are constantly fight for there lives everyday. If we could find them maybe they could help us.”

“You do have the right idea, but,” Silver started to explain, “If the Princess didn’t tell us about who they are specifically. Wouldn't keeping their identities secret be the whole reason why she didn’t tell us?”

“Yes, but-“ Spitfire was cut off by Silver.

“Besides, we don’t even know if this is an actual problem yet.” Silver stated.

“Damnit Silver,” Spitfire glared at him, “You know as well as I do, if not better, that these are some kind of signs.”

“You’re paranoid Spitfire,” Silver argued, “Your fear is blocking your judgement.”

“Ok everyone, here are the rules for tonight,” Spitfire cleared her throat, “No mention of this to the cadets and make sure you act normal okay?” Spitfire looked around the table as everyone nodded their heads, “Ok then, everybody is dismissed.”

Everyone got up and shuffled out the door.

“I hope Silver is right,” Spitfire said to Soarin and Fleetfoot, “I will not go down in history as the captain who let her fear blind her judgment. Not as the captain who drove her family into a fatal battle.”

“It’s okay, Spitty!” Fleetfoot smiled brightly before wrapping her up in a hug, “I believe you.”

“So do I.” Soarin wrapped his arm around her neck.

“You all might…” Spitfire muttered quietly, “But they don’t.”

Fleetfoot and Soarin shared a look of worry for their strong captain and best friend.

Rainbow Dash stood in front of the cafeteria with Fluttershy, impatiently waiting for the others to show up.

“The others should be here by now!” Rainbow complained.

“We can’t rush them, Rainbow.” Fluttershy answered. She was obviously the more patient person in this situation.

“Maybe you can’t, but I sure can.” Rainbow pulled out her phone to text her friends when she saw a text pop up on her screen. Fluttershy’s phone dinged and they both looked at each other and began to run.

They ran out of the doors and frantically looked around for the gate. Rainbow found it and immediately dragged Fluttershy behind her, but Rainbow could care less about the awkward stares they were receiving one of her best friends were in trouble. It turns out that the text that Fluttershy and Rainbow received turned out to be from Twilight. They reached the space behind the school and began to run towards Twilight. Fluttershy kneeled down beside Twilight and looked over her wounds as Rainbow walked up to the creature that was staring down at her.

“Trust me buddy,” Rainbow glared at the three headed dog in front of her, Cerberus, “After this you will never lay a paw on my friends again.” Behind Rainbow there was a quick bright pink flash and she saw Fluttershy transform into her element.

Cerberus’ attention was also drawn to Fluttershy so, Rainbow took this time will it was distracted to launch her first attacks. There was a red glow emitting from Rainbow as she transformed into her suit.

She flew above the Cerberus, “LIGHTNING ROD!” A yellow rod of electricity struck it’s back and its back was scorched.

‘Wait, what?’ Rainbow thought, ‘If this thing has a Discord jewel then that would be were it was located, right? And even if it isn’t there it should have penetrated through that thing!’

Cerberus charged at Rainbow, but she wasn’t worried because she had something he didn’t have. She had wings. She quickly flew upwards and called out “LIGHT MACHINE GUN!” She held out her hand and pointed her palm at him. Her body crackled as the energy shot out of her hand.

“Woohoo!” Rainbow yelled out, “This never gets old!” A shield manifested around Cerberus as he growled. Rainbow sighed and rolled her eyes. “Never mind.”

“Don’t let that doggy ruin your rainbow, Dashie,” Pinkie came up behind Rainbow with her elemental suit on and her pony water clone by her side.

“When you put it like that it sounds like I can’t beat a dog,” Rainbow turned and looked at Pinkie, “And that’s depressing.”

“It’s fine Rainbow,” Rarity walked up behind Rainbow and put a hand on her shoulder.

They heard a loud growl from Cerberus.

“Lets finish this together my friend,” Rarity said to Rainbow who gave a sharp nod and then spoke.

“Ok Rarity,” Rainbow suddenly glared at where Cerberus was standing and all three heads glared back at her. “Keep it away from Fluttershy and Twilight.” She ordered them before flying upwards.

“GREAT WALL!” Rarity called out as the rocks below the ground shifted and grew straight upward in front of the girls, “Now Rainbow!”

Rainbow nodded, “THUN-“ Rainbow started, but was cut off by Fluttershy.

“Stop!” Rainbow turned to Fluttershy, “Don’t use thunder while Twilight’s still vulnerable.”

“The move her!” Rainbow yelled down at Fluttershy.

“Rainbow, lookout!” Fluttershy screamed.

“Huh?” Rainbow turned back around almost completely vulnerable to Cerberus’ next attack, “MAGNETOSPHERE!” Rainbow focused part of the earth’s magnetic field in the palms of her hands to create a shield. She began to sweat because of the energy it took.

“I will help you my friend,” Pinkie ran over to Cerberus,”WATER!” She wrapped Cerberus up in water, “ICE!” The water became ice and Cerberus was encased in a frozen prison… for about fifteen seconds.

“RARRR!” Cerberus came back out and the ice prison exploded. He leapt for Rainbow and she braced herself, but… an attack never came. She opened her eyes and saw Fluttershy lying in front of her… out cold.

“FLUTTERSHY!” Rainbow fell like a rock right beside her best friend. “No! No, no, no, no, no, this can’t be happening.” Tears ran down Rainbow’s face, “Fluttershy… sister, please get up. Please.” Rainbow begged the unconscious body on her lap. “I could’ve taken it, but I didn’t. Please Fluttershy, GET UP!”

Pinkie and Rarity stood helplessly watching Rainbow weeping over the body of their fallen friend. They turned back to the Cerberus, determined to attack with no mercy, but they only watched with their jaws dropped once they saw who was taking care of it… on her own!

Applejack delivered a hard blow to Cerberus’ chest and then bent down with her back turned when Cerberus tried to slap her off of her feet. She quickly got her hands and bucked him in one of his three heads. To get back on her feet she did a backflip and kicked him in the other head before landing. She started delivering heavy blows to the body and then slid under him and pick out the Discord jewel. The creature disappeared in a flash of bright white light and Applejack turned and glared at Dash before walking over and kneeling in front of her. She looked into Rainbow’s face angrily.

“I’ve said this once and I will say it again,” She said calmly, but sternly, “Crying ain’t good for nothin’. What’ll happen if one day the people you love need your help?” Applejack turned her head and pointed at Rarity and Pinkie, “Those two were still vulnerable,” She looked back down at Fluttershy, “Lose one or lose all? It’s your choice.” She picked herself up and looked around, “We need to find somewhere in the shade.”

“Back… back there…” Twilight said hoarsely as all eyes turned to her, “In the forest there’s a cave, take her there.”

“Hmm,” Applejack mused before turning to Twilight and looking down, reaching out her hand, “Can you walk?”

Twilight grabbed her hand and pulled herself up, before falling right into Applejack causing her to stumble to the side, but maintain a hold on her.

“With your help,” Twilight answered determined to help Fluttershy as much as the others.

Applejack turned around, but kept a hold of Twilight, “Rainbow, let Pinkie carry Fluttershy.” Rainbow glared up at her, but complied as Pinkie walked over and picked Fluttershy up, Rainbow remaining close beside her.

They walked to the forest edge and stumbled across the cave that Twilight mentioned. Applejack helped Twilight over to the entrance where she put her hand on the carving of a sun. There was a purple glow and the door opened.

They entered the cave and to their surprise it was clean and neat. It had shelves and shelves of ancient books. One very large screen on the entrance wall and a table with six seats around it. Each one of the seats were personalized to fit each bearer. Twilight magic (Sorceress of the stars), Rainbow electricity and magnetism (Valkyrie lightning), Fluttershy air and nature (heiress Gaia), Rarity earth manipulation (common rocks and gems) and the diamond golem (precious gem), Pinkie water and ice (liquid happiness), and Applejack strength and fire (Incandescent force). On the table in front of each seat, except Twilight’s, there was a thick book with the title that referenced whatever their powers were. In the back of the room sat a glowing orb.

“What a lovely little place,” Rarity commented.

Rainbow pushed past Rarity and led Pinkie to Fluttershy’s seat. Pinkie set Fluttershy down in her chair and a faint pink glow came from her heart. Her eyes opened slowly and the first thing she saw was Rainbow. Her injuries along her body were still very severe and Rarity walked over to Fluttershy, holding out her hands in front of her, “Emergency charity, Fluttershy!” Purple magic surrounded Fluttershy and the gashes and cuts disappeared, but Fluttershy still looked like she was in pain.

“We all have classes, but somebody needs to stay here and take care of Fluttershy,” Twilight spoke quickly.

Rainbow was about to volunteer, but Rarity cut her off, “I’ll do it, darling,” All eyes turned to her, “I have night classes today and I only came here because Twilight said she needed to speak with us. So, I would be more than happy to.”

“Fine,” Rainbow bent down by Fluttershy, “I’ll come and visit you right after classes before I go to Wonderbolt tryouts, okay?” Fluttershy couldn’t muster the strength to nod so instead she squeaked.

“Also before I forget,” Twilight walked over to the table and grabbed the books and held up five advanced magic watch type things. She zapped the of the books into each watch for the girls and gave the assigned one to each of them. “Make sure you wear these at all times. These are holograms if you were wondering. Your book will come up as a hologram when you need it.”

“Thanks Twilight,” Rainbow put on the watch and walked out of the door, “Squad three here I come.”
