The Friendship Games
Chapter 10: Realization
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhen they entered the school, Fluttershy was able to start walking again as Clem texted his friends where they were and what they needed to tell them. When they arrived, they began to explain to them what happened.
“Okay. To start things off I was getting my phone near the statue when I heard someone fall in the bushes next to it. When I got there, I found Fluttershy on the ground trying to stand up like she was tired out all of a sudden.”
“How did that happen?”
“Take a guess on who was running from the scene.”
“Twilight.”
“Yep. But Fluttershy knows what happened though. I was only there to see what happened after.”
“What did you do that got you ‘tired out’?”
“All I did was hand Twilight a bunny then I ponied up. After that, Twilight's pendant thingy just pulled the magic right out of me. I couldn't even stand up.”
“I just don't get it. Rarity's magic came out when she made us outfits. Pinkie's when she fixed the party and now Fluttershy.”
“And soon after that’s when Clem, found you and helped you get to the school?”
“That’s right.”
“So let’s review then. Twilight got the magic from Rarity after she made the outfits, Pinkie from throwing the party, and Fluttershy from ‘handing’ her a bunny.”
“So she's stealing magic?”
“I don't know. She doesn't seem like the magic-stealin' type.”
“Yeah, but she had something to do with closing the portal. If her pendant can pull in magic, maybe it stole the portal too.” as soon as Sunset said this, Aldon start thinking back on what happened when Sunset couldn’t get through. He also remember that although she wasn’t able to pass through, somehow he would have be able to.
“How?” It was then Aldon had a epiphany on the question.
“Because she didn’t steal the portal, she stole the magic that was need to go THROUGH the portal!”
“What?”
“Okay, everyone think about it like this. Every time someone ‘ponies up’ and their near Twilight, they start to get drained from their magic to her pendant thing.” he then looked at Sunset, “My guess for your problem with the portal is when you touched the statue, Twilight must’ve drained you from the magic through the statue itself. Combine that with Twilight falling from behind the statue, it looks like that thing has a bit of range to it. From what I can guess, it seems like it has a range of at least 5 to 6 feet. Maybe around 7.”
“So would that be the max of how far it could try and drain their magic?”
“Probably but who knows of if it could go further then that. All I can say is we’ll have to be careful being around her. Especially Rainbow and Applejack. Those two are the only ones who she hasn’t drained yet.”
“I’ll try to keep Dash in check.” Danto said standing by Rainbow Dash. Clem walked to Applejack and spoke.
“I’ll get AJ.”
“Then that means me and El will have to keep an eye on Twilight and make sure she doesn’t cause more trouble than there is.”
“Okay Al, let’s calm down. For now, let's just focus on beating the Shadowbolts. And as long as this event puts me in a playing field, I don't think we've got anything to worry about.” They all exited out of the building into the field as Applejack was the first to speak on Rainbow’s comment.
“Oh, it puts you on a playin' field, alright.” she pointed as everyone looked seeing 3 various fields for the Friendship Games 2nd event. They saw a dirt track on the outside, archery in the center, and a roller skate rink in between the two.
“Oh.”
“My.”
“Goodness.”
“Am I the only one who thinks this is overkill?” they heard someone sniffing as they looked to see El trying not to cry.
“You okay El?” He covered his eyes and looked away from the event.
“I’m fine just…” he sniffed, “Just so much shock and amazement in so little time. I can only bare so much.” Clem sighed as he walked to El and hugged him. El started crying from the sight of the event, barely able to witness the amount of work the people put into on making it.
“There there, let it out.” While this was happening, Applejack walked up to the dirt track and kicked it, making sure it was stable. She looked at Rarity as she then spoke.
“I don't suppose you made motocross outfits.”
“Oh, don't be ridiculous. Of course I did!” The doors opened as students started coming out and taking a seat in the bleachers.
“It looks like the next event’s about to start. Who’s getting what?”
“Me and Sunset got motocross.” Rainbow said as she high fived Sunset.
“Pinkie and I will handle the roller rink.” Rarity said.
“Then it looks like you and me will get the archery Fluttershy.” Applejack said to Fluttershy, who seem a little nervous about it.
“O-Okay.” Clem walked up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Don’t worry Fluttershy, we’ll be cheering for all of you in the stands.”
“Thanks Clem.” El nudged Danto as he pointed at himself, making a shoving gesture, and touched his fingertips all together. Danto smiled and covered his mouth trying not to laugh but shook his head in response. El rolled his eyes before speaking.
“Let’s just go find some seats before the good ones are taken.”
“Be careful out there.” Aldon said to Sunset as she nodded. Danto gave Rainbow a quick kiss before heading to the bleachers.
“Good luck Dash.”
“Thanks.”
