Twilight Sparkle was sitting at her table in her castle, it was quiet in there which she honestly didn't mind, as she sat there she heard something going on in another room, she stood up and went to investigate, she left her room and looked around at the room but didn't see anypony.
She heard more noises so she walked farther downstairs, she made it to the bottom floor and went to the main room, she saw Spike cleaning the place, she didn't want him to work all day as it wouldn't be fair so she walked up to him and spoke.
"Why don't you take the day off Spike, you didn't even have to work, I can do it by myself, I didn't even tell you to do that." Twilight told him, Spike looked at her confused.
"Wait really? Do you mean it?" Spike asked her, Twilight nodded and Spike stopped and left the castle, Twilight then cleaned up the place herself, there wasn't to much to clean up so she was glad about that. She thought about Spike and realized that she pushed him to do stuff a bit to much and she started to notice this a few days ago.
She didn't know why she was always so demanding of Spike as Spike didn't have to do everything for her, she was being oblivious to how much Spike worked, maybe he deserved something for what he had been doing for her.
Twilight felt guilty about all the stuff Spike had to do, Twilight wasn't going to let Spike overwork himself anymore, she was going to make sure to take some responsibility for herself and clean up more, when Spike came back she was going to talk to him about it.
She finished cleaning her place and wondered what Spike was doing, she was tired out and she now knew how much work Spike had to do for her while she did a limited amount of work which wasn't much compared to his, she was going to fix that though.
She thought about cutting down Spike's hours for him so that he could get more free time instead of working for her and she decided that this was the best way to go about it, she read a book for a few hours, after a few hours Spike came back and sat down.
"Spike what if I told you that you don't have to work for a long time anymore, I can shorten your hours as your doing a good job in my castle, I would like to reward you to, if you feel that you would want me to do that for you." Twilight said. Spike was speechless.
"You wouldn't mind doing that for my benefit?" Spike asked, Twilight shook her head no, as she didn't mind at all, she needed to stay active anyway as it would be healthier than sitting around and making Spike do all the work.
"No I wouldn't, you can let me worry about the work for right now, I'll still need your help in the library when I'm gone and I may need an extra hoof every now and then but other than that that's it, you can do what you want." Twilight said, Spike felt happy.
"Thanks Twilight" Spike said as he appreciated Twilight doing that for him as he would like more fair treatment although he wanted to make sure Twilight didn't blame herself for the work he has been doing as he didn't want her to feel bad about it. Twilight looked at her place and decided to reorganize her books, Spike left the castle as Twilight finished up the chores.
Twilight felt like she did the right think for her friend, she really hated herself for what she was doing to him, she didn't mean to push him that much but at least Spike wasn't mad at her for it, she was surprised at how Spike responded as she thought that Spike might had entered a rant about how long it took her to recognize how much he had been working.
She was glad Spike wasn't that mad but she knew that she didn't deserve the kind treatment Spike gave her, she realized the other bad things she had done Spike as well, including not inviting him to her birthday party sometimes, she was going to talk to Spike when he got back.
After a few more hours Spike came back to Twilight's castle as he did everything he wanted to do that day, it was good that he got fresh air instead of doing work most of the day so it was a good change for him. Twilight waited for him to sit down so she could speak about what was on her mind, he sat down and Twilight brought up her worries.
"Spike when you were gone I thought about how bad I treat you and I realize that you haven't been treated nicely, I know your not as upset as I am but I'm going to do it anyway, starting right now you can decide what days you can have off and I'll start inviting you, well social functions that me and my other friends are at but ones that your never at." Twilight said.
"Thanks Twilight, you don't have to be that upset, you haven't abused me or anything, sometimes you overwork me but that's expected because your busy yourself and you sometimes can't do all the work so you give me half of it to do which I don't mind, but that would be nice if you invited me to places you and your friends go, I would like to be part of the group more." Spike said.
"Consider it done!" Twilight exclaimed quickly, Spike hugged Twilight as they were both glad that Spike will be treated more fairly now. As promise Twilight cut down Spike's hours and invited him to places he would enjoy when she went with her friends. Spike and Twilight were happy that they did this.
