Sunset felt like she trapped herself in a corner with what she had promised the Dazzling's. Due to her prior experiences with the portal she knew it would be troublesome for them to return to Equestria. (If all they said was true they would instantly have the entire empire under their control. If I had a way to contact the girls we could stand a chance against them but, they're all at home right now.) While Sunset thought to herself over what to do, Adagio made a strange request.
"Sonata dear could you please play a song for the people on the bus." Sonata nodded her head and, began to sing a nursery rhyme. Her singing wasn't at all any good but, she was seemingly getting a bad looks from others. Sunset was getting more and more aggravated by her awful singing. Suddenly Twilight couldn't stand it anymore and, yelled "Oh my god. Please be quiet already."
Then as she said that a passenger came to Sonata's defense telling her "You don't have to yell at her like that young lady. She has every right to practice her singing where she wants." Twilight calmed down but, as she did another passenger on the bus came to her defense. Sunset was puzzled at first at what was going on but, before she knew the entire bus was filled with conflict.
Sunset thought (These people should be getting out off of work by now. Why are they wasting their energy over this? They could be doing something better with their time.) Suddenly Sunset realized what was happening. This was like at the battle of the bands where they fed off the students negative energy.
Adagio turned towards Sunset saying "Did you figure it out yet? Soon we will have more power than we need to get out of this dump. Understand that you are out of your element Sunset Shimmer. I bet you've fallen into despair by now knowing we could kill you both at any moment. Soon that will be something one of you won't see coming."
Adagio laughed quietly in the bus as the other passengers continued to argue. She was so lost in her joy in her victory she kicked up her legs and, put them on top of Aria's. Usually she wouldn't challenge Aria by doing this mostly due to the fact that Aria wasn't as obedient to her as Sonata was. Before Adagio had to reason with Aria and, even outsmart her suspicion to keep her in place. If all else failed she would rarely have to fight her over leadership.
However today Aria knew that opposing her today would not be the best thing to do. Aria knew that Adagio's anger was as high as her potential anger. Before, this was Aria's major argument against Adagio because of her rash action when plans go south. Still she would not be here if it weren't for Adagio's ambitious character. She decided to swallow her pride and, endure Adagio's arrogant nature.
Adagio's head laid nicely on top of Sonata's thighs as, she retreated to her thoughts. She thought that (Now after thousands of years in this nest of failures we escape in vain of that old unicorn. I will burn all his efforts of keeping his United Kingdom of ponies safe from more powerful beings such as us. Still I will have to deal with those ponies who are ruling the factions. Still how bad can fighting a unicorn, a Pegasus, and a dirt pony.)
Suddenly Adagio felt a slap hit her face. Adagio quickly sat up looking directly at Aria asking "What is it?" Aria pointed at the school and, simply said "We're here princess." Adagio got up and, said "Girls lets get going before the bus leaves." Adagio grabbed Sunset's hand and, slightly crushed it.
Aria grabbed Twilight and, began walking off the bus. Once the bus left Adagio then said "Well, well, well. Now that we are all here and, no one is around what do we need to open this little portal to good old Equestria. However I must repeat myself clearly now. If there is any foul play here we will just have to kill you and, your friends as compensation."
Adagio squeezed Sunset's hand even harder breaking part of Sunset's hand. Adagio seemingly watched her with pleasure as, she squirmed on the campus ground. Adagio began to walk circles around Sunset. She knew from experience that doing this would cause Sunset to worry since, she could possibly try to anticipate the next attack. Adagio was toying with Sunset at this point and, it was making Aria lose her composure.
Aria believed she knew she needed to stop Adagio. Aria gave Twilight to Sonata and, began walking towards Adagio. Aria stopped Adagio and, "Adagio you need to calm down right now. We need her to open the portal otherwise we will be stuck here again." Aria then looked Adagio deep in her eyes with an extremely serious expression.
Sunset began to notice this intense stare down between the two sirens. She saw that Adagio's mood changed completely when Aria intervened. She wondered (Does Aria have something on Adagio? She must have some type of edge over her. I have to find out somehow.)
Adagio closed her eyes and, said "Fine Aria. Your right we should wait until we get the portal open. Still we need to make sure they don't try anything funny so, how about I break one of their arms. I will even let you have the first crack at it Aria. What ya say huh?"
Aria then said "No. We just have to get them to open the portal. Hell you haven't even let them explain how to open the portal yet. Your being rash again and, its about to cost us again. I think you need to take the backseat."
Aria knew that what she had asked was damn near taboo when it came to Adagio but, she knew that Adagio wouldn't risk victory for her petty grudges. Aria also knew that Adagio wouldn't let this slide so easily. If by some chance that either Sunset or Twilight got free she would have to keep an eye more so on Adagio than the prey. However this would be the case if Adagio did decide to back down. If she didn't then she would be stuck trying to heal and, stop some of Adagio's harder punches.
Adagio found herself in a very sticky situation. Her authority was being challenged for the first time in a long time. Aria would only be this brave if she was over looking something obvious. Adagio couldn't see what it was since, she was on a winning streak. She kept thinking to herself (What am I over looking?)
She thought (I guess me hurting her would make things hard for her to tell us anything. Still our magic will take care of her wounds. Why is she being so defiant now of all times? Fine. Its not like I haven't been here before.)
Adagio then said "Alright Aria I will let you lead. I will even be so nice that I will heal their boo boos. All I want is for us is to return home where we are praised as goddesses again." As she said that she healed Sunset's hand and, picked her up stood besides Sonata. Adagio then bowed to Aria then said "I am at your command dear."
Through the entire time Sunset was amazed to see that Adagio was actually taking a supporting role to Aria. Sunset had always suspected Aria was somewhat rebellious to Adagio but, not at this scale. Sunset thought she was at a favorable position despite how small it was. Not to mention this would be a good opportunity to clown her sadistic advisory. Sunset said quietly "Here I thought that you were the one in charge."
Adagio ignored the her taunts as best she could. Sunset knew this technique well and, began tugging at Adagio further. She said "Ya know I use to have a great fear for you after our first encounter. Now seeing you like this I can only say I might have given you to much credit. Even with all this power you still come second. First star swirl, us, now Aria of all people."
Adagio wanted to throw Sunset across the campus and, stone her to death with the rubble. Adagio then began to crush Sunset's shoulder. She then said "Look here you insect. The only reason I haven't crushed you yet, is because your a fucking tool. We will use you and, once we're finished I will tare you apart."
Sunset fell to the ground and, was beginning to pass out. Adagio cut deep into her shoulder and, could feel the inside of her collarbone. Sunset wasn't expecting to be harmed to this extent since they knew she was one of the only people to know about the portal. She was losing consciousness and, could only see the glow of both Aria's and Adagio's eyes. Suddenly Sunset felt the hand of Sonata coming to her aid.
Sonata expression was more stern and, mature for her usual demeanor. She was displeased at the sight of her only friends in a heated argument. Sonata then said "You two can run into the school and, prepare for something interesting. Understand that I can't let the both of you leave campus. I will need time to handle this little matter."
Sonata's way of speaking surprised Sunset as it was something she would hear from Rarity. She thought (Was she just pretending to be naïve to make us lower our guard. These Dazzling are more than they seem. How much did they underestimate us that they didn't show this side of them before. We don't even have princess Twilight's crown anymore.)
Sunset grabbed Twilight and, ran towards the back of the school.
Sunset knew that the gymnasium was connected to the rest of the school and, the window would be open due to the fact someone already broke it yesterday. She unlocked the window to climb inside. Once they were inside Twilight started to run towards the door and, ran off towards somewhere. Sunset turned around to find a siren staring at her with red eyes in the dark night. Sunset expected to have more time to devise a plan but, now she was forced to think quickly.
She thought (If I could just find a place where she can't scream things apart.) Sunset looked towards the locker room where she could hide among the lockers. Sunset dashed as what seemed to be Aria cracking the glass with her voice. Sunset made it into the locker room then hid in a locker near the school pool. Seconds later Aria busted through the door.
Aria let go of her powered up state to be more subtle. She looked around to find herself in a bit of pickle. She then said "Well its not like I haven't been in this situation before. Still I guess I can answer some questions you probably have about us. I will start with saying this."
Aria stated "Did you know that Sonata is the oldest one out of all of us. Did you also know that I didn't always talk like this. We always had to adapt to the new trends of the times. Honestly I have almost had it up to here with people who live their short lives. Your honestly the only piece of hope left for us to have true salvation."
Sunset could hear Aria's voice change in tone and style. Her words were bigger and, her pronunciation was on point. Her voice was still the same scratchy feminine tone but, was more friendly. She was seemingly showing her weakness or seducing her into revealing herself. Sunset could only describe it as a mix of Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Princess Celestia.
Aria then said "Really now Sunset must we really fight. I will protect from Adagio if that's what your afraid of. We just want to go home Sunset. Ya know we were never this sadistic. We just wanted to survive in an age where monsters ruled."
Sunset felt a heavy weight on her chest. She saw that Aria was getting closer as she peeked into each locker. Still she could only think of one thing. (Once she peeks into this locker I will break her nose with this locker door. Then I will have find a phone.)
Sunset looked to see that Aria had disappeared behind some lockers. Moments passed and, still she had saw nothing. Sunset nearly believed that she was in the clear until she saw streaks of light purple hair. Sunset bust out of the locker and, drop kicked Aria. Sunsets boots hit boots hit hard against what Sunset assumed to be her ribcage.
Sunset was sure she broke something in Aria's body. Aria screamed in pain from her injury. Sunset thought about shutting her up but, she needed to get away far more than get her quiet. Sunset hightailed it through the gym into the hallway. She kept running until she found the hall where Celestia's phone was.
Suddenly as she turned corners Adagio was quickly floating down the hall. Sunset had to quickly find a place to hide but, all the lockers were combination locked. The classrooms were locked as well. Sunset had no choice but, to backtrack towards the gym and hide behind the stands. Sunset waited quietly as she waited for Adagio to show herself.
Sunset jumped in terror as she could shrieking coming from the locker room. Suddenly Sunset could hear Adagio's voice call out for Aria. Sunset was surprised to hear a change in Adagio's voice as well. It was caring and nurturing voice that seemed concerned for her child. Sunset was even surprised to see her soo concern rather than angered or arrogant.
Adagio entered the gym saying "Aria are you okay? Your not hurt are you?" Aria had let out another shriek calling out to Adagio. Adagio didn't hesitate at all as she flew quickly into the locker room. She gasped to see Aria coughing up blood.
Sunset thought this was the best possible time to escape but, before she could Adagio carried Aria out of the Locker room. Sunset stepped back into the stands as Aria was making a statement.
Aria said "Adagio stop. Just heal me so, I can get Sunset." Adagio looked down at her sister in arms and, said "Did she do this to you ? If so. Tell me right now Aria." Aria looked off to her side in defiance.
Adagio dropped Aria to the hard wood floor in anger. She then said "This is not the time for you to be acting like this. What do you think would come of me if something happened to you? You stood by me when others didn't. We have been over this many times and times again."
Adagio said "You are my greatest enemy. That is because your like a sister to me." Adagio held out her hand over Aria's torso and, began healing her. While she healed her wounds Aria began to get sad eyed as she could feel a flood of emotions pour out. Aria was actually crying.
Aria then said "Its just that sometime it feels like you two are mocking me. Especially during the 'Battle of the Bands'. You made me and, Sonata look like stupid henchmen. You have always done such aggravating things since, we have been in this infuriating place. You use to treat us like equals by default but, now I have to play mind games with you for my spotlight."
Adagio closed her eyes and, calmed herself down a bit. She then said "I understand how you feel Aria. I now realize that I am arrogant and, oblivious to the hurt I made you feel for so long. I promise once we get back to Equestria I will make it up to you. My lovely Aria."
Adagio giggled as she said "I bet no one has called you lovely in forever." Aria smiled and said "No but, usually they would be bowing to me as they said it." Adagio bowed on one knee and, said "My lovely Aria what must do for mine goddess of the seas." Aria went up to Adagio and, gave her a quiet hug. She then said "Thanks Adagio for listening."
Adagio hugged her back then said "Anytime Aria. Now lets go give our guests a little payback shall we?" Adagio held out a hand as she got on her feet. Aria got on her own two feet and, gently placed her hand on Adagio's. Adagio then said "Great. Now lets go get that flame haired bitch from out of those stands."
Sunset was shocked beyond words. She walked out the stands and, asked "How did you know I was here?" Adagio laughed and, said "Sonata knew that all rooms and lockers would be locked during non school hours. Honestly Sunset where did you think you could do? You lost the moment you ever thought you could get something from us without paying a terrible price. We are siren after all."
Adagio continued spray salt on Sunset's wounds. She said "You should know that we already have your friend. Resistance is futile at this point. You should just give up and, accept your end. Honestly Aria what more can I really say to her that would get the message through?"
Sunset was being look down upon by deities she thought she could overcome. It reminded her of how she felt during her time as Celestia's star pupil. She thought (If only I had my magic I would be picking them off one by one. If I could be she demon Sunset one more time. I would teach these fishes to think twice about who they look down on.)
She said to herself that (I will take them to the portal and, show them how out dated they really are. I'm going show not only them but, Celestia what I'm made of. I will surpass Star swirl and, destroy them with my own magic.) Sunset knew she was going to be roughen up before they take her back together. Still she thought it would be worth it when she gets her chance to stand on top.
