"AAAH CHOO! ugh, why does this place have to have so much dust?" I said to no one in particular as I walked down the street of Appaloosa. One of the voices in my head decided that the rhetorical question needed a reply.

"It's not called a dust bowl for nothing." I sighed.

"It was rhetorical Beta, I know that places like this are going to mess with me, I just wish it wasn't like that." I mumbled under my breath, so anypony else wouldn't think I was crazy on top of being a freak. I kept my head down but let my eye wander and take in my surroundings. The street was dominated by pony's, in all their stuck up, four legged, superior my flank hole glory.

I can't completely judge them, I've meet a few who were down right friendly and there was one who I could call my closest and only friend.

"That hurt Caim. I thought I was your friend? I shook my head as I heard beta's fake sobs.

"Only "real" friend Beta, you guys are my emotions given form, you can only exist inside my head, and I haven't figured out a way to bring you out... or more importantly, keep certain ones away from me." I shuddered as memories tried to resurface, wanting to drag me into the darkness of depression with them. Luckily I had somepony to keep me in a good mood.

"Oh Don't you start going all depressed on us sweetie, it's to lovely a day for that." A chipper female voice told me. I smiled despite my sadness. Clover was my happiness and goodwill, she was always in a good mood, despite the less than adequate situation that was my life.

"I guess you're right Clover, it's not like it could get any worse, right?"

"Oh great, now he's done it... Clover you deal with helping him talk his way out of it, I'll deal with damage control."

"You got it Beta." Clover said, upbeat as ever. I snorted at the two.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence you two." I grumbled as I stepped out of the way of two ponies. They gave me nervous looks, but it's kind of hard not to be nervous when I good three and a half feet higher then them. I sigh again for what seems the millionth time. My throat feels like the ground I'm walking on, dry. I look to my right and see a restaurant, my stomach gives a slight grumble.

"I'm hungry and thirsty, never a good combo." I mumble sarcastically, making my way into the establishment. As I walked in most of the conversations stopped and eye's from all over seemed to bore into my soul, judging me. I truly wished I could be the size of a fly, I made my way over to an empty table in a corner and sat down. The other customers got bored with staring at me and went back to their previous conversations.

A young unicorn mare walked over to me, she seemed a bit uneasy, I can't blame her, but she seemed to swallow her nerves and put on her best smile. It was ponies like these that either made me hate my life or love it, cause they were either faking just to get by or being themselves. You never knew which till they spoke, and it seemed like I was in luck.

"Hi, my name is Mellow Breeze and I'll be your waitress today, is there anything I can get you?" She asked, a pad and pen in her magic aura. My childhood wasn't a very nice one, but it taught me a few VERY useful skills, like reading ponies like open books. I was pleasantly relieved to find she was sincere with her smile and I returned the gesture. Smiling warmly I leaned back a bit on the bench.

"Hello Miss Breeze, I'm Caim, and I would like two daisy sandwiches with tomato, olives, with extra pickle please and with mustard instead of mayo, a large side of hay fries and a pitcher of water please." She wrote down my order quirking an eyebrow at me.

"Somepony hungry or are expecting someone else?" I chuckled slightly.

"I've been on the road for the past few days and I ran out of my food supplies yesterday so it was either eat or have an argument with my stomach all day." She giggled slightly at my joke.

"I'll make sure that you and your stomach will be friends again in no time." She turned and trotted away taking my order to the cook. My eye's were drawn to the sway of her flanks as she left.

"Now that's something I can get funky with." I heard a effeminate male voice say. I paled slightly,

"What the hell Orion! One, I just met her and two, You know it wouldn't work out so why even bring it up?" I mentally yelled at the being that represented my libido and sexual desires. Orion just sighed and placed his hands on his hips.

"Who ever said anything about making it work? they're called one night stands for a reason."

"AH! I'm not listening! LALALA!"

"Yeah shut the fuck up!"

"Oh how lovely to see you again Zul... To bad your mouth is as filthy as ever." Orion said, crossing his arms in annoyance. Zul, the embodiment of my anger, just snorted

"And I give a fuck what your perverted ass says why?"she said, getting right in Orion's face. Orion just ignored her and continued talking to me.

"Oh, stop lying to yourself. you find those, toned, smooth legs and squeezable rump of hers so enticing. Oh, is your blood flowing south? I think it IS!" Orion said the last part in a sing song voice. Never in my life had I wished to strangle him more then now. Zul and I both we're fuming mad. Her because she was ignored completely, me because I didn't like where Orion was going at all.

"If only I could actually get my hands on you I'd ring your neck." I growled at him, He just smiled wider at me which made me realize I stepped into his trap.

"OH? but you can... you just have to strangle the one eyed snake."

"Don't worry Caim I'll make sure he's given a good dose of pain." Zul said, cracking her knuckles. Orion had a massive perverted grin and shifted his form so he was wearing all black leather and in a pair of handcuffs.

"Yes. please hurt me... I've been such a bad boy." He laughed at the completely creeped out look on Zul's face. I physically face palmed at their antics. My hand was over my eyes, so I didn't see three ponies walk up to my table. As my hand fell I looked into the angry faces of two Earth and one Pegasus stallions.

"We saw how you were looking at Miss Breeze freak." one of the earth ponies snarled at me. I lowered my head, I may be bigger but I don't like to fight.

"Freaks like you should know their place." The Pegasus said. the blow came fast and hard, if I had been paying attention I could've dodged it but my head was down. The wing, smacked me upside the head, dazing me and making me fall over onto the floor.

I blinked and I found myself in a realm of complete white. I instantly knew where I was and got to my hooves. being beaten so many times as a child, I learned a way to separate my mind from my body so I wouldn't feel the pain as much. I looked around the blank slate that was my mindscape. I formed a rectangular window and watched what was happening in the outside world. I was curled in a ball and being pummeled by the stallion's hooves. I sighed,

"Well good thing I..." I never got any farther as I was struck from behind and knocked down.

"YOU PATHETIC WEAKLING!" I twisted and faced the one being I feared more than anything else.

"What are you doing here Umbrus!" I shakily tried to stand but Umbrus wasn't having any of that. He brought his hoof to my chin in a roundhouse kick which sent me flying. Umbrus was my darker half my pain and sorrow, the things I never told anyone, he was the extreme opposite of me

"I'm always here, locked away inside you, never allowed to see the light of DAY!" He roared and punched me repeatedly in the gut. I was being beaten mentally and physically, I was defeated easily by Umbrus. I blinked and found myself chained to a rock in my mindscape. Umbrus pulled my chin up so I could look him in the eyes.

"No more will I be ignored! NO MORE will I be shoved to the sidelines! It's my turn in the sun and I will make sure that we are never seen as weak ever again!" I paled, he wouldn't do that, he couldn't!

"Please Umbrus don't!" I tried to call out but Umbrus slammed his fist into my gut, causing saliva to eject from my mouth. He grabbed my mane and yanked my head up to face the black pools that were his eyes.

"You don't get to decide what I do any more Caim!" He let my head fall back to my chest. turning to the window to reality, a sadistic smirk crossed his face. The stallions had finished their beat down and were standing over me.

"Now it's my turn, and I will make them PAY!" and in a flash Umbrus was gone, leaving me in my mindscape, weeping and in pain.

(Third person view)

"You know your place now freak? Ponies are your betters, you would do well to remember it." The pegasus panted slightly. He and his two earth pony lackeys turned to walk away from Caim when they heard laughter. it started soft but was continuing to get louder. They turned to the anthro stallion they had just beaten and found him shaking, not in fear, but from the maniacal laughter that was coming from him.

Umbrus slowly stood up, still chuckling darkly to himself. Raising to his full height he glared at at the three stallions in front of him. They just glared right back. a grin, devoid of any mirth, spread across his muzzle.

"Why so serious? Weren't you going to show me my place?" Umbrus rushed the three and caught the pegasus but the throat, hauling his gasping and flailing body into the air.

"Aren't you going to show me who is superior?" Umbrus Treated him like a whip and slammed his body into one of his friends, sending them into a mass of legs and hooves on the ground. The third stallion charges him, hoping to tackle him to the ground. Umbrus wasn't having that. Umbrus side stepped the charge and hooked his arm causing the stallion to clothesline and fall onto his back struggling to breath.

He then saw an opportunity and took it. With an insane grin Umbrus raised his hoof and brought it down hard on the Earth stallion’s balls. The stallion’s eyes reached epic size before they rolled into the back of his head and he lost consciousness due to pain overload. The Pegasus and the second Earth pony were now on their hooves and charging him.

"You'll pay for that! You should know your place yo fre..." The charging pegasis bellowed but couldn't finish, due to the fact that Umbrus had once again caught him around the neck and was squeezing his windpipe shut.
"You think you’re above me?! You think yourself better?! Well let’s find out!" He threw the stallions with all his strength straight through the wall and out into the street. Cracking his neck he turned to follow them through the hole.
