When Apples Fly….

Morning sunlight rays shone down through the window of the cottage, and shone radiantly off the pastel yellow Pegasus as she made her way through her morning chores of feeding the many animals she cared for. Humming a soft tune, she allowed her mind to wander adamantly, eventually reminding her of her promise to help Applejack harvest the south field of Sweet Apple Acres today. Glancing at the sky, she noticed that it was already late morning.

‘Oh no’ She thought frantically, realizing her error. She quickly finished her chores and rushed upstairs to her bedroom. ‘Oh, I can’t believe I forgot about this, this simply will not do, I won’t be able to tell her now, if I’m late! Oh dear, do I look alright? What will she think when she sees me? Oh, what will those beautiful green eyes and orange body think of me and my-‘

She was roused from her frantic thoughts when Angel Bunny kicked her leg, jolting her back to reality. She squeaked and flew out the window in the direction towards Sweet Apple Acres. Fluttershy was already dreading the events of the day to come.

The workhorse made her way through the field of apple trees, bucking each, and carefully picking up the apples that fell from the trees and putting them to rest in a basket with other, assorted apples.

She glanced up, Celestia’s sun well on its way to its zenith.

“Consarnit, where is she? She said she would be here by now, ah can’t buck this entire field all by mahself while Big Mac is out sick.” She said out loud; however, try as she might to stay angry, she couldn’t. Something about the Yellow Pegasus, Fluttershy, wouldn’t allow her to stay angry for too long.

Almost as if on cue, the Pegasus in mention swooped down and landed shakily next to the workhorse.

“Hey Applejack, sorry I’m late” The Pegasus intoned softly. Applejack stuttered silently, trying to think of something good to say, nothing but a blush highlighting her face, however. ‘Come on, get it together Applejack, she’s just yer friend, yer really, really good friend, nothing more, but why do ah feel this way every time ah’m around her.’ This feeling just started occurring after the changeling invasion in Canterlot, the sight of those weird bugs impersonating and attacking Fluttershy had infuriated her, ‘ah feel like mah hearts on fire, looking into those pretty, gleaming cyan eye’s, and looking at that pretty golden bod-‘

“Uh, Ap-applejack are you okay? You don’t look so good. ” Fluttershys’ quiet voice brought her out of her trance.

“Um yea, ah’m fine let’s just…get this over with.” Applejack replied, it was going to be a long day.
