It was her moment to shine, after so many loses, so many close seconds, she finally won the Biannual Ponyville Fashion show. Rarity the young mare who is the most popular student in her high school, who has aced all of her classes, and who stood up for her friends when they were taunted by those who would want to harm them, finally won the show she's always wanted. She could see her fellow contestants run to their friends and family, yet her parents were nowhere to be seen. She stepped down the stage and looked where her parents reserved seats.

The parents of the contestants had reserved seats to see their children compete, this was a tradition in the Fashion Show made up by the Composers of the Show due to popular demand by the parents/guardians of the fillies who didn’t get to see their filly compete due to sitting to far back. Rarity’s dad's always reserved seats, almost begrudgingly, they always groaned when it was time to go, even if they weren’t doing anything at the time. They always made it clear that they weren't interested in, not in the show itself, but in watching her fail. Once they made a comment in returning her to the home, she wouldn’t be to torn about it, only because of a single loose end about her biological family. Other than that, she wouldn’t want to return to it, because she still wants to bond with her father.

A quick look shows that her father are not here. What! She thought crushed They were here during the show! Why are they!

Rarity started to tear up, desperately trying to hide her tears. She then noticed a note on the seat. She picked it up with her magic and read in her mind. Her eyes started producing more tears. Her dad's abandoned her show.

She crumpled the note, threw it out as she softly left the building. She excited attracted no attention, like she was but a ghost.

Once she was out of the building and walked two blocks away she received the shock of the night. One moment she was walking alone her, eyes still wet, the next. She was met with a loud, bright, cheerful:

“HELLO RARITY!!”

She immediately screamed. Which didn’t even phase the young mare in front of her smiling wildly. Hyperventilating, Rarity was starting to calm down, to see a Beautiful mare, Bright pink coat and a darker pink mane. Her eyes, her bright azure blue eyes slightly glazed as if she was going to come closer and start kissing her. Her smile seemed plastered on her dainty face. Her behavior, both charmed, and delighted her, despite the earlier encounter scaring the crap out of her . She wanted to know more about this loud, but attractive mare.

Rarity flirtatiously smiled at this mare, and moved to advanced toward her.

“Hello there,” Rarity said, giggling slightly, “ And who are you?”

“My name is Pinkie Pie,” She answered excitedly, almost going to explode.

“Rarity,” Rarity said.

“Oh, I know,” Pinkie said, “you have been my crush every since we began 9th grade together.”

“Oh, er, you, l-like m-me?” Rarity said nervously.

“Yes,” Pinkie proudly said.

“OK, well let's get together some time,” Rarity said.

“Why can’t we get together now?” Pinkie asked disappointed.

Rarity thought about it for a moment, she needed to get home, but after what happened at the Fashion Show, she just wanted to talk with someone who is willing to get to know her better.

“Did you have anywhere in mind to go?” Rarity asked.

“My apartment!” Pinkie happily answered.

Before Rarity could ask further questions about the apartment, and about her, Pinkie took her by her foreleg and rushed across the street. They went in the door of a slightly old, rust brown, 5 story apartment building. The building looked just like the other buildings on this block, no noteworthy characteristics to tell it apart from the rest. They went up 3 flights of stairs and went through the door to Pinkies apartment. The room was small but comfortable. The living room had a couch, with enough room for two ponies to sit on. Behind the living room was a small kitchen with a stove in the corner, a refrigerator beside it. Beside the kitchen was a hallway that lead to a bathroom, and a bedroom.

Pinkie Pie walked Rarity to the couch, closing the door with her back legs. The two mares sat down on the the couch,

Pinkie still keeping her hoof on Rarity’s.

“Sooo…” Pinkie Pie started to say awkwardly, “How are you doing?”

“Umm, g-good,” Rarity said as nervous as her companion.

“Great,” Pinkie said still as nervous as before.

Neither Rarity nor Pinkie could think of anything to talk about, so for 5 minutes they sat on the couch trying to think of something to say. Then a question that Rarity just thought of popped into her head, a question that she just now started to question about Pinkie.

“Pinkie,” Rarity said with a hint of discomfort in her voice.

“Y-yes,” Pinkie said uncomfortable.

“Where are you parents?” Rarity asked with discomfort.

“Oh, I don’t have any,” Pinkie said more comfortably, “I am in a program that gives a home to orphans.”

“Oh,” Rarity said a little awkwardly, “do you miss them, or wonder who they are?

“Not really,” Pinkie said. She looked at Rarity, and noticed that she had a look that indicated that their was something that she wanted to tell her.

“Rarity, is something you want to tell me?” Pinkie asked concerned about her date.

Rarity did have something to get off her chest, but didn’t want to bother Pinkie with it.

“Um, it’s nothing,” Rarity said nervously.

“OK, if you don’t want to talk about it then you don’t have to,” Pinkie said, “but if you want someone to talk to, then I will listen.”

Rarity thought about what Pinkie said, she wanted to get this off her chest, but she didn’t feel comfortable talking about it.

Eventually she decided, against her comfort, to let it out of her chest. As Pinkie was getting up from the couch, Rarity

stopped her.

“Wait,” she solemnly said, “there's something I want to tell you.”

Pinkie sat back down with a softy comforting smile. Rarity took a deep breath.

“OK, when I was 6 years old I was placed in a orphanage, I don’t know why I was put there but I do remember the final words he said to me, ‘No matter where you are you will always be my little Rarity. I’ll will never stop missing you. I’m sorry, but I have to leave you here.’

I asked him why he had to but he didn’t answered me, and he just left. I wasn’t sure what was going on, and even now I still don’t know. Everything seemed fine, I don’t know what the problem was. I don’t know why they gave me up, they loved me. They, they…”Rarity started to sob.

“Rarity?” Pinkie said reaching out a hoof, out to her crying friend.

“Yes Pinkie?” Rarity managed to say through her sobs.

“Are you OK?” Pinkie said, concerned about the melancholy mare on her couch.

“Yeah, i-it’s just that I never told this story before,” Rarity confessed, through her sobs.

“How are you holding up?”

“I don’t want to talk about,” Rarity said.

Pinkie was about to ask her more about her relationship with her dad's, but then decided against it because it was

troubling for her to talk about her foster home so talking about her new parents must be more difficult.

“Alright,” Pinkie Pie said then paused, “are you hungry?”

“No,” Rarity answered.

“Well I am going to make dinner and I was wondering if you would like to join me, if not then I could...” Before Pinkie Pie could finish, Rarity hugged her, holding her tight.

“I would love to have dinner with you.” Rarity said still hugging Pinkie.

“OK,” Pinkie Pie giggled, “If you could let me go I can make it.”

Rarity realized that she was hugging as tight as she was, quickly retracted her arms and while her cheeks blushed with a light pink. Pinkie kissed her pink cheek, and got up and went to the kitchen. Rarity’s cheek got even redder, and face turned surprised as she rubbed the cheek that Pinkie’s warm loving lips touched. She saw her marefriend go into the kitchen and went in the fridge and grabbed out 5-6 carrots, a bag full of green beans, and tomato soup.

“How does vegetable soup sound?” Pinkie gleefully asked.

Rarity, with the same red cheeks and surprised face, nodded.

Pinkie’s smile grow as she got out a pot and prepared their dinner.

Author's Note

So this is my first story, at least the first that I'm publishing. So I encourage any and all constructive feed back. Oh, and before you read on to the next chapter I feel the need to put in a "trigger warning" for the next chapter and beyond (and no not the "trigger warning" that the internet made it, e.i. "The following may, or may not be offensive to some,"). The Trigger Warning is for themes of domestic abuse, and child abuse, (their really isn't a difference between the two, just that one is abuse towards a child, and the other a significant other, obviously). So, if you or someone you know has been in this situation, then just warning you this could be difficult to read. Any way enjoy the rest of the fan fiction and tell me how to improve, have a good day.
