//-------------------------------------------------------// The Clown and the Mare -by Pinon- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The Show //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The Show It was her moment to shine, after so many loses, so many close seconds, she finally won the Biannual Ponyville Fashion show. Rarity the young mare who is the most popular student in her high school, who has aced all of her classes, and who stood up for her friends when they were taunted by those who would want to harm them, finally won the show she's always wanted. She could see her fellow contestants run to their friends and family, yet her parents were nowhere to be seen. She stepped down the stage and looked where her parents reserved seats. The parents of the contestants had reserved seats to see their children compete, this was a tradition in the Fashion Show made up by the Composers of the Show due to popular demand by the parents/guardians of the fillies who didn’t get to see their filly compete due to sitting to far back. Rarity’s dad's always reserved seats, almost begrudgingly, they always groaned when it was time to go, even if they weren’t doing anything at the time. They always made it clear that they weren't interested in, not in the show itself, but in watching her fail. Once they made a comment in returning her to the home, she wouldn’t be to torn about it, only because of a single loose end about her biological family. Other than that, she wouldn’t want to return to it, because she still wants to bond with her father. A quick look shows that her father are not here. What! She thought crushed They were here during the show! Why are they! Rarity started to tear up, desperately trying to hide her tears. She then noticed a note on the seat. She picked it up with her magic and read in her mind. Her eyes started producing more tears. Her dad's abandoned her show. She crumpled the note, threw it out as she softly left the building. She excited attracted no attention, like she was but a ghost. Once she was out of the building and walked two blocks away she received the shock of the night. One moment she was walking alone her, eyes still wet, the next. She was met with a loud, bright, cheerful: “HELLO RARITY!!” She immediately screamed. Which didn’t even phase the young mare in front of her smiling wildly. Hyperventilating, Rarity was starting to calm down, to see a Beautiful mare, Bright pink coat and a darker pink mane. Her eyes, her bright azure blue eyes slightly glazed as if she was going to come closer and start kissing her. Her smile seemed plastered on her dainty face. Her behavior, both charmed, and delighted her, despite the earlier encounter scaring the crap out of her . She wanted to know more about this loud, but attractive mare. Rarity flirtatiously smiled at this mare, and moved to advanced toward her. “Hello there,” Rarity said, giggling slightly, “ And who are you?” “My name is Pinkie Pie,” She answered excitedly, almost going to explode. “Rarity,” Rarity said. “Oh, I know,” Pinkie said, “you have been my crush every since we began 9th grade together.” “Oh, er, you, l-like m-me?” Rarity said nervously. “Yes,” Pinkie proudly said. “OK, well let's get together some time,” Rarity said. “Why can’t we get together now?” Pinkie asked disappointed. Rarity thought about it for a moment, she needed to get home, but after what happened at the Fashion Show, she just wanted to talk with someone who is willing to get to know her better. “Did you have anywhere in mind to go?” Rarity asked. “My apartment!” Pinkie happily answered. Before Rarity could ask further questions about the apartment, and about her, Pinkie took her by her foreleg and rushed across the street. They went in the door of a slightly old, rust brown, 5 story apartment building. The building looked just like the other buildings on this block, no noteworthy characteristics to tell it apart from the rest. They went up 3 flights of stairs and went through the door to Pinkies apartment. The room was small but comfortable. The living room had a couch, with enough room for two ponies to sit on. Behind the living room was a small kitchen with a stove in the corner, a refrigerator beside it. Beside the kitchen was a hallway that lead to a bathroom, and a bedroom. Pinkie Pie walked Rarity to the couch, closing the door with her back legs. The two mares sat down on the the couch, Pinkie still keeping her hoof on Rarity’s. “Sooo…” Pinkie Pie started to say awkwardly, “How are you doing?” “Umm, g-good,” Rarity said as nervous as her companion. “Great,” Pinkie said still as nervous as before. Neither Rarity nor Pinkie could think of anything to talk about, so for 5 minutes they sat on the couch trying to think of something to say. Then a question that Rarity just thought of popped into her head, a question that she just now started to question about Pinkie. “Pinkie,” Rarity said with a hint of discomfort in her voice. “Y-yes,” Pinkie said uncomfortable. “Where are you parents?” Rarity asked with discomfort. “Oh, I don’t have any,” Pinkie said more comfortably, “I am in a program that gives a home to orphans.” “Oh,” Rarity said a little awkwardly, “do you miss them, or wonder who they are? “Not really,” Pinkie said. She looked at Rarity, and noticed that she had a look that indicated that their was something that she wanted to tell her. “Rarity, is something you want to tell me?” Pinkie asked concerned about her date. Rarity did have something to get off her chest, but didn’t want to bother Pinkie with it. “Um, it’s nothing,” Rarity said nervously. “OK, if you don’t want to talk about it then you don’t have to,” Pinkie said, “but if you want someone to talk to, then I will listen.” Rarity thought about what Pinkie said, she wanted to get this off her chest, but she didn’t feel comfortable talking about it. Eventually she decided, against her comfort, to let it out of her chest. As Pinkie was getting up from the couch, Rarity stopped her. “Wait,” she solemnly said, “there's something I want to tell you.” Pinkie sat back down with a softy comforting smile. Rarity took a deep breath. “OK, when I was 6 years old I was placed in a orphanage, I don’t know why I was put there but I do remember the final words he said to me, ‘No matter where you are you will always be my little Rarity. I’ll will never stop missing you. I’m sorry, but I have to leave you here.’ I asked him why he had to but he didn’t answered me, and he just left. I wasn’t sure what was going on, and even now I still don’t know. Everything seemed fine, I don’t know what the problem was. I don’t know why they gave me up, they loved me. They, they…”Rarity started to sob. “Rarity?” Pinkie said reaching out a hoof, out to her crying friend. “Yes Pinkie?” Rarity managed to say through her sobs. “Are you OK?” Pinkie said, concerned about the melancholy mare on her couch. “Yeah, i-it’s just that I never told this story before,” Rarity confessed, through her sobs. “How are you holding up?” “I don’t want to talk about,” Rarity said. Pinkie was about to ask her more about her relationship with her dad's, but then decided against it because it was troubling for her to talk about her foster home so talking about her new parents must be more difficult. “Alright,” Pinkie Pie said then paused, “are you hungry?” “No,” Rarity answered. “Well I am going to make dinner and I was wondering if you would like to join me, if not then I could...” Before Pinkie Pie could finish, Rarity hugged her, holding her tight. “I would love to have dinner with you.” Rarity said still hugging Pinkie. “OK,” Pinkie Pie giggled, “If you could let me go I can make it.” Rarity realized that she was hugging as tight as she was, quickly retracted her arms and while her cheeks blushed with a light pink. Pinkie kissed her pink cheek, and got up and went to the kitchen. Rarity’s cheek got even redder, and face turned surprised as she rubbed the cheek that Pinkie’s warm loving lips touched. She saw her marefriend go into the kitchen and went in the fridge and grabbed out 5-6 carrots, a bag full of green beans, and tomato soup. “How does vegetable soup sound?” Pinkie gleefully asked. Rarity, with the same red cheeks and surprised face, nodded. Pinkie’s smile grow as she got out a pot and prepared their dinner. Author's Note So this is my first story, at least the first that I'm publishing. So I encourage any and all constructive feed back. Oh, and before you read on to the next chapter I feel the need to put in a "trigger warning" for the next chapter and beyond (and no not the "trigger warning" that the internet made it, e.i. "The following may, or may not be offensive to some,"). The Trigger Warning is for themes of domestic abuse, and child abuse, (their really isn't a difference between the two, just that one is abuse towards a child, and the other a significant other, obviously). So, if you or someone you know has been in this situation, then just warning you this could be difficult to read. Any way enjoy the rest of the fan fiction and tell me how to improve, have a good day. https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/twilightsmile.png //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: The Storm //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: The Storm After dinner, Rarity insisted on cleaning the dishes for her since she made them dinner. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to, you are my guest after all,” Pinkie Pie told her. “I know, please just let me clean them, please,” Rarity said, smiling. “Alright,” Pinkie submitted. Rarity got right to work, filling the sink went water, putting a drop of soap in the water, and mixing the soap in the water. As Rarity was washing the pot that Pinkie had used to cook the dinner in, Pinkie forced a cough to get Rarity’s attention. “Yes?” Rarity said, her eyes glued to the pot that she was washing. “So, uh, do you want to spend the night my apartment or go to your home?” Pinkie asked nervously. “Yes,” she hesitantly said, still washing the pot. “Why did you hesitate to answer?” “It’s just,” Rarity said turning to Pinkie, “I don’t think that my parents would like me staying here for the night.” “Well,” Pinkie said, “could you call them? I’m sure they’d understand?” “Err, they, uh,” Rarity tried to say, “ they don’t like me to, have a, ur, have a mare friend.” “Well,” Pinkie said desperately trying to think of an excuse for Rarity to stay, “we don’t have to tell them that we are well a thing, and you could say that you got lost, and only stayed at my apartment for the night.” “Alright,” Rarity said with slightly more comfort, getting back to the dishes. Pinkie simply looked at her friend, with admiration. She always thought that Rarity was hot ever since she first saw her, on the first day of their freshmen year. She just wanted to talk to her, but always felt a little bit nervous, because she didn’t know how to approach it to Rarity. If she should be blunt and ask her on a date, or to get to know her and see if she’d be interested in dating her. This went on until their senior year, when she decided to be more blunt about it. Then she ran into her on the sidewalk, and here she is now. When Rarity finished the dishes, the the two mares went to Pinkie’s bedroom. Pinkie went to the bed while Rarity noticed a desk with a cage with a small, toothless green alligator in it. “Who is this little guy,” Rarity asked. “That’s just gummy,” she answered, happily. “He’s kinda cute,” Rarity commented, smiling. “Yep,” Pinkie pie agreed. Rarity went towards the bed, Pinkie stayed and wished Gummy a goodnight. They got in bed, covered, and Pinkie turned off the lamp. “Goodnight, Rarity,” Pinkie said, softly smiling. “Goodnight, Pinkie,” Rarity, said wrapping her forelegs around Pinkie’s waist, and kissing her on her lips, her warm, loving lips. Pinkie, pleasantly surprise, wrapped her own forelegs around her neck, and returned the kiss. “I love you Pinkie,” Rarity said heartily. “Love you too, RarRar,” Pinkie said snuggling next to Rarity, and falling to sleep soon after Rarity soon followed suit. Rarity woke up to the scent of Pancakes cooking coming from the kitchen. Rarity got out of bed, still a little tired, and walked out the room to see Pinkie’s warm smile meeting her. “Good morning, sleepyhead,” Pinkie Pie welcomed. “Good morning, Pinkie Poo,” Rarity flirted. Pinkie smiled, “‘Pinkie Poo,’ I love it.” “Glad to hear it,” Rarity said. “Well, lets eat, and get you home,” Pinkie said, “Let's meet again some time, maybe at lunch Monday?” “Yes,” Rarity happily agreed. Rarity was excited that she was going to meet her marefriend at school tomorrow. After Breakfast, the two mares walked out the room, and went out the door. Rarity told Pinkie where her house is, and within 45 minutes they came 1 block away from Rarity’s house. Rarity stopped in her tracks, right there. “Rarity?” Pinkie asked. “Yes,” Rarity said breathing more than usually. “What’s wrong?” “I’m just nervous, because well you are taking me home, and my parents, uh, don’t like it when I take home a mare.” “Don’t worry.” “Right,” Rarity said still nervous but more calmer. Rarity took a deep breath and walked Pinkie to her house. They walked up to the door and Pinkie Pie knocked on the door. In a flash, the door fell open, both mares were taken back by the shock of the door. Pinkie was surprised the door didn’t fly off the hinges. On the other side of the door, was a furious tall unicorn, with a black coat, and an emerald green mane. Hovering next to him is a brown leather belt. “BOTH OF YOU!” he screamed, Pinkie was surprised that all the windows didn’t shattered, “IN HERE, NOW!” Out of fear the two mares, rushed in the door, as fast as they could. The stallion nodded towards the couch, telling them to sit. They obeyed, with no objection, with the look of fear that gave a way that they were afraid. The stallion yelled at primarily Rarity, but also scolded Pinkie for taking her to her house. “She was lost, so I decided to let her stay the night, I am sorry if I made you worry,” Pinkie tried to explain, quivering even as she tried to. “I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT! YOU PATHETIC PILE OF --” Before he could finish that insult, he was interrupted by his husband. “Please, she just tried to help our daughter, please--” the stallion tried to say, before the pegasus was met with a hoof to the face. “SHUT THE BUCK UP!” the aggressive unicorn yelled, even more pissed than before, “I WILL TALK TO ANYPONY HOW I WANT TO, WHEN I WANT TO!” The pegasus, his bright yellow coat stained by the red of blood running down his nuzzle. As he tried to wipe the blood from his face he got the blood on his bleach white mane. yet , despite his efforts to stop the blood oozing from his nose, the blood kept coming, so he picked himself up and walked to the next room, with his head down in shame, and tears streaming down his face. The unicorn slowly looked at Rarity, eyes seething with Rage. A that moment, both mares gazed at the pure terror at the towering, stallion that left his husband a weeping mess. “Rarity,” he said, slowly, with a sinister grin on his face. Rarity could barely speak, heck she can barely move after seeing Angelic Light, her only stallion that ever showed her kindness be hurt again by this psychotic soul. “... Come… with… meeeee…” He said, grinning wildly, like a serial killer cornering his prey. Rarity hesitantly got up, from her spot, looking like a sickly dog about to be put down, the fear that she feels, the creeping sense of dread choking her. Suffocating her like “dread” was a gas that was slowly taking the oxygen from her system. She inched towards the stallion until he lost his very minuscule amount of “patience” he had, and constricted her with his own magic and dragged her up the stairs. Rarity jerked around, desperately trying free herself from the iron grip this monster can muster. Without a warning she was raised higher, and backwards, before getting launched in the wall of her room. One moment she was gripped in her dad’s magic, the next she was laying on the floor of her room half conscious, and the next she sees only the absence of light, as her eyes slowly closed. Pinkie heard the commotion and of course saw the unicorn hurt Rarity, she would go check on her but the moment she heard loud thumps coming down the stairs, she froze in terror. The stallion finally reached the down the stairs and slowly walked down the steps, turning his stone cold, scrunched expression, directing it to the bright pink mare, quivering in horror. And just like that he turned from a cold look on his face, like it was carved into his face, to a animated screaming berserk rushing at the mare. “GET THE BUCKING BUCK OUT OF MY DAMNED HOUSE!!” He exclaimed as loud as he could, and given the volume he demonstrated earlier, that is saying a lot. Pinkie didn’t know what he said because of how loud it was, it just sounded like a loud, howling banshee. But the message was clear and as the bright day outside, so she ran. She ran faster than she's ever ran before. She ran away from that house, even when the monster that resembled a pony gave the chase up. She ducked in the alleyway between her building and the cafe, that she hoped to go with Rarity some time, today even if her parents weren’t too tough on her. She threw herself behind a dumpster to catch her breath, the smell she didn’t notice due to the everything she been through. As her breath started to catch up with her it dawned on her that she left Rarity, and that her other father in that house. “Oh, buck me,” Pinkie breathed, started to cry. “Buck me, buck me, buck me, buck me…” //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Rebuilding //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Rebuilding After a while of crying, she went back to her room, to think of what to do next. After many hours of trying to find a way to do, something, anything to help her marefriend, she found that there was nothing that she could do to help her. She went to sleep crying that night. The next day she reluctantly got out of bed, brushed her teeth, got her bag, and feed Gummy for the day.“Bye Gummy,” she solemnly said, walking out the door and closing it behind her, leaving the desk lamp on for her pet, as he stared blankly at a random spot in the room. Pinkie never like her first period, never. So after seeing her friend get abused, being powerless to help her the other day. She wanted to scream in a combination of angst, and boredom. The only thing keeping her from snapping, is her Algebra teacher, Cheerilee, who always helped her through class, and always supported her with problems in school, and her crush on Rarity. Without her than she’d go crazy. During class, Cheerilee noticed that Pinkie Pie wasn’t feeling herself, the fact that she didn’t gleefully welcome the whole class like she normally did (despite how annoying it can get), her face was down sadly jotting down notes like she's completely given up hope in the world. But she continued with class, and made a mental note to talk to her after class. When the bell rung, the class started to exit the small class room. “Remember everypony, that the test is going to be on Friday, Study,” Cheerilee reminded the class, “Pinkie I’d like to talk to you.” Pinkie walked over to the teacher's desk, her face showed a glimmer of hope that she could finally know what to do. “I noticed that you were, uh, hurt in my class,” Cheerilee said, “ is there something you’d like to talk about?” “It’s about Rarity,” Pinkie said. “What about her?” “I think she may need my help.” “How so?” Pinkie didn’t know how to approach it. On one hand if her teacher knew about it, it could help Rarity, but she wouldn’t have any proof of any of it. “Well, I think that Rarity is being abused at home.” Pinkie blurted out, then covered her mouth immediately after, “but I don’t have any proof of it, but my own memory, so if I approach anyone about it, they wouldn’t believe me. What do I do?” “I’d talk to her about the abuse and try to work something out,” Cheerilee answered. Pinkie smiled. She hugged her teacher and thanked her for her help. Cheerilee wrote her a pass for second period, which she was going to be late for because of their talk, and Pinkie was going to talk to Rarity at lunch about everything that happened yesterday. Fourth period, was somehow even more draining than every other period she had this year. She wasn’t sure why, at least what’s the main reason, could be because of it’s head banging topic, philosophy, or maybe the fact that it is right before lunch, no maybe it could be because of it’s teacher, Cranky (who is a donkey, as in the actually donkey). Perhaps however it was all the above. She always hated going to philosophy class, but today she would start to hate on this day, this day where her friend was harmed yesterday, and she wanted to know if she was alright or not. The last two minutes of class in particular were the most agonizing experiences of the day. Finally, the bell rung ranky reminded the class about an assignment, that Pinkie didn’t listen about. Pinkie got in the cafeteria line, got her food, and went to find her friend. She looked all across the cafeteria, and didn’t see her anywhere. When she finally gave up she saw her sitting on her own, on the far side of the cafeteria, were no other student ever sat because, well they always sat next to their friends. Pinkie Pie went to where Rarity was sitting and sat down next to her. “Hey,” Pinkie Pie said in a low voice. Rarity looked up to see her marefriend, she didn’t show it, but she was happy to see that she was alright. She pulled up a chair for Pinkie to sit in, Pinkie put her tray on the table and sat down on the seat next to Rarity. “How are you doing?” Pinkie Pie asked. “Good,” Rarity said, as casually as she could sound. “Why didn’t you tell me about your father?” Pinkie asked curiously. “I just,… it’s because, ...uh,” Rarity tried to answer, “I just didn’t want to hurt any chances that my father accepting me.” “So, you want the approval of the person who’d harm his husband, and his daughter?’ Pinkie Pie gave a questioning look. “I, just hoped that there was something else other than the side of him that hurts me and Dainty Dream.” “Who?” “My other dad,” Rarity said, “he was the stallion that tried to calm down Hothead, my other father.” “How is Dainty?” Pinkie asked, concerned of that stallions well being “He is doing as well as I am,” Rarity said unsure of her answer. “What’s he like?” “He is the kindest, and caring pony I ever knew. He always stood up for me the best he could, he always tried his best to help, and support me.” As Rarity told Pinkie about her dad, her voice began to crack, she quickly attempted to disguise sorrow, even when tears started to descend from her eyes. “You don’t have to go on if it hurts you, Rarity,” Pinkie said. “Alright,” Rarity said, wiping away the tears. “Rarity,” Pinkie began. “Yes?” Rarity responded. “I think you and Dainty should leave Hotheads house,” Pinkie said, anxiously, she knew that this may not be to popular with her even after what happened yesterday. Rarity didn’t respond immediately, she simply looked down at her food. She refused to make eye contact at Pinkie, she didn’t know what to think about her friend. She knew that she was only trying to help, but there this would come with some problems that would arise from this. “I don’t think that would be so good,” Rarity simply said, looking up. “Why?” “We wouldn’t have anywhere to go,” Rarity explained, “He doesn’t have any immediate family that would be willing to help us.” Pinkie looked down, she had to do something, say anything. “You, and your dad can stay at my apartment,” Pinkie offered. “You don’t have to,…” “I know, but if it means the two of you, can live anywhere else, it’d be worth it.” “But, there's another reason why he doesn’t leave, Hothead constantly hurts, and…” Rarity started to sob again upon repeating what happens to her and her other dad. “I know, I know, but,” Pinkie was starting to crack, she didn’t know what to do, “can we, call the police?” “I don’t think that the police, will believe a couple of teenagers, that my father is abusing me, and my other father.” Pinkie started to tear up, she wasn’t sure what to do, to help her friend. “We need to try something,” Pinkie Pie, tried to say though her tears,”if it means that you could be happy, then I’d be willing to risk it.” Rarity was about to object to it, but she couldn’t think of anything to objected to. “Alright we can give it a shoot,” Rarity submitted to Pinkie’s attempt to help. Pinkie smiled softly. Pinkie Pie smiled, tears glimmering in her eyes, both smiled at each other, then went to finally eat their lunch. They finished their lunch rather quickly, and continued to talk to each other about school, hobbies, and Rarity asked about Gummy. “He’s doing OK,” Pinkie chirped. “Great,” Rarity smiled back. Pinkie was about to speak when they heard the bell ring signalling the students to return to class. The two mares exchanged a sad glance at one another and got up, got their trays to put them in a pile on the counter so they could be cleaned by the custodians. Rarity wanted to stay with Pinkie just a little while long, just to tell her that she loved him. Pinkie felt the same way, but unlike Rarity, Pinkie was just happy that she got to talk to her one more time. So with that Pinkie rushed, to her 6th period, mentally running through what she was about to do by the end of the day. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: The Ending //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: The Ending Rarity walked down the hall, into a lobby that was flooded with students exiting the building to return to their homes, or go out with their friends to do something that they’ve been dying to do all day. Once she was out of the building, and walked to the sidewalk she noticed Dainty on the other side of the street. Rarity smiled to see her father was okay, after what happened to him yesterday. She always loved it when he picked her up from school. He always helped her at any problem that she had at school, and always did his best to calm her down when Hothead’s abuse of herself. She rushed over to him and hugged him as hard as she could. Dainty hugged her back, and smiled. “I love you dad,” Rarity said, smiling warmly. “I love you, too” Dainty Chuckled. Rarity kept her forelegs around her father for a minute, Dainty showing a glimmer of discomfort. When Rarity finally let go they proceed to walk home. The trip was largely silent for a while, until Rarity decided to break the silence. “Um, dad,” Rarity begun, but didn’t finish. “Yes,” Dainty answered. “Are you OK?” Rarity asked sheepishly. Dainty stopped and looked at his daughter with a look that said, “What do you mean?” “With yesterday, and,” Rarity elaborated, “ and with my father, and you…” “Yes,” Dainty said timidly, clearly lying. “I can tell you're not telling the truth.” “Rarity please--” “No! I can tell that you are not ok, because of, of, my father. He’s hurting you.” “Rarity, please be quite,” Dainty said irritated, yet trying to remain calm. Rarity backed down her ears drooping, “Sorry, it’s just, it’s just…” “I know, you're just worried about me,” Dainty apologetically said, “Sorry I raised my voice, I know you were just worried about me.” Rarity walked to her father and hugged him, she started to tear up. Then he started to sob. Rarity noticed, and reared her head around to meet his eyes. “Dad, what’s wrong?” Rarity asked. Dainty hesitated, yet after a few minutes, he finally gave an answer. “Oh, I, it’s just, it’s…” he tried to say through sobs, “you, and that mare you brought home.” “What about me, and,” she paused for a moment, “Pinkie Pie?” “Yes,” he said, “it’s just how your father treated you and her, and how much I know that she cared for you.” “Yeah, she… she really does,” Rarity trailed off a little at the mention of Pinkie. She loved her, she was the only other pony who she ever felt close to. Sure she did have other marefriends, although they never worked out. She was with Rainbow for a while but, she was possibly the most irritating mare that was in the school, really. She always bragged about herself the entire time they were together, and she always had to have the last word in every argument, and feud they got into, or when some idiot flirted with me, or her, by saying something stupid like, “If you feel like swinging the other way I’d be happy to obliged,” or “ If you’d like a real stallion instead of some tom colt, I’m all yours,” (Damn, all those comments were so stupid, she felt as if her brain was rotting away). However, they still are friends and Rainbow had become more tolerable, and she is still willing to be friends, in fact the first person who she talked to about Pinkie Pie, and having a new marefriend, and advice was her, when she saw the two of them sitting together at lunch. She just told her to just play it cool, and to be confident about herself. Rarity was surprised that she was taking it well considering that, well, they used to date, and even kissed once or twice. “Of course, I’m okay with it,” Rainbow said, “ We may have dated, but we’re not now, and we’re still friends.” “Oh, alright,” Rarity smiled, before she and Dash had left to their next class. “I just feel that there must've been something else that I could’ve…” “There’s was nothing you could’ve done,” Rarity comforted him. “I just hope that you and your friend could still be friends,” Dainty said. Rarity paused, and grinned, Dainty had noticed Rarity’s grin. “Rarity,” Dainty began, grinning, wildly, ”why are you smiling, like that?” “Oh, well we are still friends,” rarity answered, “well, more than friends actually.” Dainty smiled and hugged his daughter harder than before, and Rarity hugged back as hard as him. They stayed like that for a minute or two longer before Dainty let go. “We better get going we, don’t want to keep your father waiting,” Dainty said. “Um, dad, I’d better tell you something else now that you reminded me of it. I told Pinkie about how my father treats you, and she said that she would call the police on him.” Rarity said, then braced herself for her father's responds. Dainty looked panicked, the first thing he did, was shoot a barrage of questions at Rarity, like: “You did what? Why did you tell her? Do you know what your father will do to us? Where will we go afterwards?…” Rarity walked to him and hugged him again which calmed him down enough for her to explain what Pinkie Pie was thinking of, Such as where they’ll live until they can get back on their hooves, and what they’ll do throughout the whole thing. After Rarity explained it all Dainty had agreed to trust Pinkies plan, hesitantly but still agreed. They continued walking home in almost complete silence, until a quest had popped in Rarity’s mind. A question that she had ever since she had been with her current parents. “Dad,” Rarity begun. “Yes?” Dainty asked. “How did you and dad get together?” “That Rarity I think I’ll save for another time because it looks like we are home.” Dainty said obviously not wanting to tell her daughter the details of their engagement. They walked through the door and Rarity went up to her room to work on her homework, while Dainty worked on dinner. //-------------------------------------------------------// Epilogue //-------------------------------------------------------// Epilogue A week passes and Dainty and Rarity has been successfully excited the relationship with Hothead. Dainty has had a hard time adjusting to life without Hothead, as well as Rarity. So Pinkie signed them up with a program to help him get the help he needs. They were able to get the help they needed and after 5 months Dainty was finally able to get a job so he and Rarity could get an apartment. Rarity would visit Pinkie frequently, and they started to date just as frequently. “Rarity?” Pinkie Pie asked, concerned about her friend who didn’t looked very happy. “Yeah?” Rarity said. “What’s wrong?” Pinkie Pie asked. “Oh, I uh, I, it’s just, nothing,” Rarity said. “Rarity, if something is upsetting you please tell me,” Pinkie Pie reassured her. Rarity took a deep breath,”Alright,” she said, collecting herself, “it’s just I have been curious about my life before I, was signed in the home.” “Oh…” Pinkie responded. “I was thinking why,” Rarity paused for a moment, “he left me behind like that.” Pinkie Pie thought about that for a moment, then thought of a way to find out. “Where was your orphanage?” Pinkie Pie asked. “I think it was a block away from Sugarcube Corner,” Rarity answered, “Why do you ask?” “I was wondering maybe we can go over there and ask them why,” Pinkie Pie smiled, anticipating Rarity’s answer. “I guess, if dad doesn’t mind we can go over there sometime,” Rarity said. Pinkie Pie nodded, and continued to eat their dinner, and Rarity followed suit. After they ate their dinner, and Rarity volunteers to clean the dishes, the two mares go to bed. Rarity climbs in Pinkie's bed, while Pinkie goes to say goodnight to Gummy. Though Rarity couldn’t be any happier now, with a loving father, a cute and caring marefriend, she still isn’t sure why Dainty married Hothead to begin with, and what happened with her real parents. While Rarity was pondering all these question she had or everything, Pinkie Pie went up to her and hugged her as hard as she could. Rarity simply turned around and hugged Pinkie Pie back, not as hard as Pinkie's strangling grip though. Pinkie Pie moved her head in front of Rarity’s own. Pinkie then kissed her on the lips. Rarity then kissed her marefriend back. All that was in Rarity’s mind at that moment was that all of her questions can wait till later because right now she was happy, with her family.
