The Diamond Pole Chronicles
Chapter 5: Clubbin'
Previous ChapterAurora slept in the next day. She got up at 9:39, according to her phone. She stretched, yawning. Clubbing. Haven't done that since I was a human. Lol.
She ate breakfast, but didn't play any games. No, she needed to think. How the hell am I going to tell my parents?
Her best bet was to buy a webcam for her laptop. She would then create a Skype account and send her dad an invitation. She would then wing it from there, using her phone as further proof if needed.
As for her friends, she would go back on Steam. She would do the same process from there.
She still had some time to kill, but didn't feel like playing any games at that moment. Gotta listen to some actual music. Still don't really like EDM. She decided to listen to a piano cover of Halo 4's Arrival.
She sat there thinking until it was time to head out. Clad in her preferred get-up, a T-shirt and cargo pants, she went out of her apartment and headed to The Diamond Pole where she would meet her new friends. Are they really my friends? I barely know them.
The sun was begining to set by the time she arrived. Sapphire and Emerald were already there. Velvet was missing, "Where's Velvet?" asked Aurora.
"She called in sick," said Emerald.
"Oh."
Sapphire grinned, "Ready to hit the club?"
"I guess."
"You are old enough to drink, right?"
Aurora rolled her eyes, "Yeah, I am."
"Alright, let's go then!"
Aurora followed them, a grinning Sapphire leading the way. It was then a thought occurred to Aurora, "Hey, you have phone numbers?"
Sapphire looked back at her, "Are...you hitting on us?"
Aurora blinked, "Uh...no...Just wanted a way that we could talk to each other."
"Ohhh...cuz I was gonna say, at least buy us dinner before getting into our pants."
Aurora gaped at her, blushing, "I'm not...that's...it's not like that! Jesus..."
"Aw, I'm just joking with ya!"
"Hilarious joke..." Aurora grumbled.
Emerald glanced at Aurora, "Uh...do...do you swing that way?"
"N-no...I mean...I dunno. Haven't had sex with a mare before..."
"Oh...Um...what's 'Jesus'?"
Shit, I fucked up, "Uhhhh....just a...uhm...random exclamation I made up..."
"Oh, okay."
"If you two lovebirds are done talking," Aurora and Emerald blushed as Sapphire continued, "We're here."
Aurora's ears twitched. The heavy dubstep could be heard outside. Oh boy...dubstep...looovely...
The bouncer let them in after checking their IDs. Aurora made a note to thank Celestia again for creating hers. Aurora's ears flattened in protest to the music. The club was busy, ponies populating almost every place. Aurora looked at the unicorn at the DJ booth. That's definitely Vinyl Scratch.
"Dang, this place is busy!" yelled Sapphire over the music.
"I'm gonna go fucking deaf!"
"You're gonna die?!"
"No! Deaf! Deaff!"
"Oh!"
Emerald went next Aurora's ear, "Hey...you want to dance?"
Aurora blinked. Dance? "Uh, sure!"
Emerald grabbed her wrist and led her to the dance floor. Aurora had second thoughts by now. Don't know how to dance to this music...
Emerald noticed and smiled at the grey mare, "Just follow my lead!"
She moved her hips to the beat and Aurora awkwardly tried to match them. More than once Aurora noticed Emerald accidentally bumping into her. Guess she's just as bad as me...
Sapphire, meanwhile, went to the bar. She ordered three drinks and waited. Eventually Aurora and Emerald had their fill, Aurora slightly sweaty while Emerald was blushing lightly. They sat down next to the blue mare. Sapphire passed Aurora a beer.
Aurora took it and took a gulp. She immediately regretted it, coughing at how strong the alcohol was, "Caugh, fuck! This shit's strong!"
Emerald and Sapphire blinked, "It is?" said Sapphire.
Emerald took a big sip, "It's not that strong to me."
"G-go-gosh, that's has to be the strongest beer I've ever had!"
"You're kidding, right?" said Sapphire, "It's just Buck Light."
Aurora was too busy recovering to laugh at the pun, "Are you telling me you drink this easily?!"
"Uhh," said Emerald, "Yyyeaahh?"
Aurora was already feeling a bit buzzed, "Just...fuck..."
"Wow, you sure do cuss a lot, huh?" said Sapphire, "What kind of beer are you drinking. This is like, average."
"I...ugh...I don't come from around here."
"Where do you come from?" asked Emerald.
Aurora froze, "Uhm...far away..."
"You're foreign? You sure don't sound like it," said Sapphire.
"L-let's drop it, okay?" Aurora took a sip this time. Probably shouldn't drink all of this...
But, as Aurora noticed, the drink was surprisingly sweet for beer. Almost like hard soda, except not as carbonated. Due to the sweet taste, Aurora found it hard to stop.
Slowly but surely, the drink was drank, and Aurora got more and more drunk. She giggled, "Y-you know...itsh not that shtrong...Gimme 'nother!"
The bartender looked at Aurora's friends. Sapphire just shrugged and the bartender poured her another drink. Aurora took a gulp, slightly swaying, "Alllriiight.....Ish hash ta know....wh-whut'sh the biggesht c-hic!-cock ya ever took?"
Sapphire and Emerald's eyes widened. The bartender wisely went away. Emerald blushed, "I-I don't think we should talk about that here?"
"Aww..."
Sapphire leaned over to Emerald, "I don't think she can hold her liquor."
"Should we take her home- Oh Luna!"
Aurora had downed her own drink and had grabbed Sapphire's. Before Sapphire or Emerald could react, she downed the half-glass. Aurora slammed the glass on the bar, lightly cracking the glass. She hiccuped, "'NOTHER!"
"Uh, I don't think you should drink anymore..."
"B-bullshhiiit!! Ish bet Ish c-can out drink ya!!!"
Aurora suddenly froze, "Bathroom!"
She stumbled up and away before the other mares could stop her. Sapphire looked at Emerald, "What the fuck just happened?"
Emerald could only shrug.
Aurora hiccuped as she stumbled into the bathroom. She blinked, "Wh-whysh a uri-HIC-urinal in the filliesh room?"
Aurora shrugged. Nature called. She unzipped and lifted her leg to get a better angle. A bathroom stall opened and a stallion walked up. He froze at the sight of Aurora relieving herself. Aurora hiccuped and looked at him. She stared at him for a few moments.
Realization hit her, "Ohhh...Ish in the wrong bathroom!"
Aurora laughed, "Shhorry!!" she said before stopping her peeing. She zipped up and gave a wave at the stunned stallion, "B-bye bye!!"
Aurora stumbled out of the bathroom, making the stallion wonder if trying to get a job here was a mistake.
Aurora came back, giggling. The other two glanced at each other, "What's so funny?" said Emerald.
""I-HIC-Ish peed in the wrong bathroooooom! Hah hah hah!"
"Oookayy, time for you to go home!" said Sapphire.
Aurora frowned , "B-but Ish dun wanna go home!"
"Aurora, you're tired, right?" started Emerald, horn glowing.
"Ish...no I'm not!"
"Yes you are."
"I...maybe...Ish..ookayy." Aurora's eyes drooped.
Sapphire stared at Emerald. Did she just cast a sleeping spell....well...whatever works...
Emerald helped steady Aurora, "Let's get you home, alright?"
"Ooookaaaayyy..."
Sapphire paid for the drinks and they both helped Aurora out the door and to her apartment. By then, Aurora somewhat recovered. She thanked them and closed the door.
Sapphire and Emerald stared at the door before leaving, "That...was weird," said Sapphire.
"She really can't hold her liquor," said Emerald. She bit her lip, "You think...you think she's okay?"
"Yeah, she'll be fine. Hungover, but fine."
"..." Emerald stayed silent, "...I gotta check. I just have this feeling that she needs somepony now...I'll see you later, Sapphire."
Sapphire raised an eyebrow but shrugged, "Do whatever you want. I'm going home."
Emerald turned around and went back to Aurora's apartment. She found the door unlocked and went inside. It was dark inside. Guess she's fine.
That's when Emerald heard something. The dark purple unicorn strained her ears. It was crying. Emerald moved through the darkened living room to find light coming from a hallway. She moved to the semi-closed door and looked inside.
Aurora was sitting on the bed, hugging her legs and sobbing, "M-mom...D-dad...I miss you..."
Aurora gave another sob as Emerald's heart broke. She gently opened the door and spoke quietly, "Aurora?"
Aurora froze and looked up, "E-Emerald?"
Emerald quietly entered the room and sat down next to the grey mare, "What's wrong?"
"..." Aurora sniffed, "...It's nothing. Really."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah..."
Emerald pursed her lips and looked at Aurora closer. Her eyes were puffy and red but were drooping, "Why don't you go to bed?"
"...alright." Aurora weakly agreed. Emerald helped her into bed and shut off the light. She closed the door and started to leave before stopping.
...I should probably stay here to make sure she's alright. Emerald looked around and saw a small couch. That'll work.
Emerald set her alarm early and curled up to warm up. She drifted to sleep, her last thoughts were on how miserable Aurora sounded.
Author's Note
When a pony gets drunk, it only lasts a short time. There is this 'calm' period where they gain sobriety before being struck with the hangover.
