I sat with the royal family in the Crystal Castle throne room laughing. Cadence was a bit surprised at what I did to Ponyville but I assured her that the town was empty. We were spending the time chatting and telling jokes to each other to keep up our morale and good spirits. Occasionally a noble entered and had some conversations with us, usually personal problems or protection requests, but otherwise the day was peaceful. That was until we both received a surprise visitor in the form of Princess Luna.

Both of us were surprised to see the midnight alicorn straggle in looking…….. weak. I saw that her wingtips were frozen and her ribcage was seeable through her skin. She slowly walked towards the throne with as much grace as she could have, till she dropped halfway from exhaustion. I looked at Cadence and was shocked to see that she kept a stern face as her aunt crawled to the base of the throne. “What is it that you have come before my throne…… traitor?” Cadence said with a stern voice.

“Please my niece” Luna said weak and coughing “I ask to seek asylum from my sister. I fear she has gone insane with recent events and would've turned on me. Please. I beg for asylum and forgiveness.” As Luna kept coughing Cadence scoffed at the weak alicorn. “Ha! You really believe that I would grant you asylum? Safety?! You knew of Celestia's motives and were willing to support her even after being injured. What in all of the world would make me want to aid you?”

Luna looked up to her niece with tired bloodshot eyes. “Intelligence. Where she plans her next attacks. Whom she wants to kill to slander you and him” she pointed a shaking hoof at me. “I want to be safe away from the insanity of my sister.” She then lowered her head in shame “Mother would be very upset if she saw this.” she said then coughing up blood. I wanted to help but Cadence kept me in place. “You think intelligence is what could save you? How could I believe you and not think you will stab me in the back?!”

I saw Luna was getting pale as she tried to stand. “You are weak” Cadence said “A weak, worthless creature not even worthy of the name alicorn. Not worthy of the title of pony. Not worthy of anything at all!” at this Luna collapsed to the ground with a cry of pain. I couldn't take it anymore with what Cadence was doing. She was killing her own aunt!

“ENOUGH!!” I yelled surprising Cadence. I ran down next to Luna and called some of the guards over to me. “Get her to the castle infirmary and get the doctor quick. I don't know how long she's got before she goes under.” One guard ran off while the others and I tend to Luna. She was getting paler and her pulse was low as the guards arrive with a stretcher. As we left I looked back at Cadence who was watching us with a shocked expression.

A few hours passed after we got any results but thankfully Luna would live. As I left the infirmary Cadence stood by waiting for me. I said nothing and passed her only to have her run up next to me. “Why did you help her?” she asked me “She was the enemy, a traitor! Why did you help her?” after receiving no response she sighed and kept talking. “What's her condition?”

“Malnourished, hypothermia, internal bleeding and torn wing muscles. She's lucky to be alive after flying for a few days nonstop.” I stopped and looked at the princess of love. “Cadence” I said “Would you really gone as far as to kill your own aunt? You know I have no intentions of killing Celestia and seeing what you were doing? I felt you were going to Celestia's level of low. I really expected better.” I then turned and went to my room while Cadence stood thinking about what has happened through the day.

The moon rose late that night…
