Spike was walking to Twilight's one morning as he had just come back from Rarity's, as he was walking he wondered what he could do with Twilight that day and he wondered if he could meet with her friends as well. Soon he went inside his place and looked around but he couldn't find Twilight anywhere.
He guessed that she might be upstairs so he went up and saw that Twilight's door was closed, he heard sounds coming from the room but he couldn't make them out he decided to just go into his bedroom and just relax for a bit. He wondered what Twilight was doing in there but he wasn't going to ask as it was her business.
He read a comic book while he hung out as he didn't want to go outside again since he was already outside, plus he didn't want to stay out to long and worry Twilight, he read the comic for a few more minutes and finally Twilight and Discord came out. Spike saw them speak to eachother.
Spike stood up and went over to Twilight to ask why it was taking her so long to come out and say hello to him, even if Twilight was married it didn't have a reason to ignore Spike. Twilight finally came out and was shocked to see Spike.
"Spike! What are you doing here you told me you would be out today." Twilight asked as she was confused as she thought that Spike was hanging out with Rarity.
"I live here! This is my place!" Spike exclaimed, Twilight sighed and spoke to him.
"Spike I'm sorry to say this but you need to move out, you....I love you and all but seriously, you do chores for me and you see your friends but most of the time you still live here and sit. You need to get a job Spike, I can't take care of you anymore I have my own life, your old enough to get a job anyway." Twilight said. Spike had dreaded the day this talk was coming and now it was here.
"Are you kidding me!? Why a job!? You won't even let me get the job that I want!" Spike protested, Twilight got a newspaper from her bag and rolled it out on the table.
"There are openings in a few jobs that I think you would be interested in." Twilight began to say but Spike protested.
"I don't want to do any of those jobs I want to join in the fight against the AEL creatures! It's my duty to do that." Spike ranted.
"No I don't want you getting killed! That job is dangerous and I don't want you to do that job! That would devastate me if you were killed, I'm not planning on losing you to that dangerous job." Twilight said.
"But Twilight it's my duty as a citizen to die for my home!" As Spike said that Twilight got freaked out as she got upset by what he said.
"I don't want you to die! You should not join!" Twilight yelled and as this happened Discord entered with a concern expression on his face.
"Your tone in your voice made me worry...is everything okay...aside from screaming at each other that is?" Discord asked, Twilight knew that Discord would take her side in is as he cared for Spike to.
"Spike wants to join the defense force against the AEL's but it is to dangerous for him, he shouldn't join because I could lose him to a war that would kill him!" Twilight complained. Discord thought about it instead of making a joke since he did see at Spike looked like he was serious in joining. He thought long and hard and finally he spoke up for Spike
"Well honestly Twilight....Spike's a grown dragon now...if that's what he wants to do then he should be able to join and if a life of fighting is what he's prepared for I say let him." Discord said which shocked Twilight.
"What!? Why are you taking his side on this!? I could lose Spike! You don't care about him if you let him go!" Twilight yelled.
"No that's not true, I do care about Spike and I would miss him if he dies but I'm saying that it's his choice to join, he's an adult Twilight he can make his own decisions." Discord said. Twilight grabbed her hair in frustration. She paced back and forth as Discord talked to her.
"It's my choice Twilight, if I want to fight I'm going to go and fight." Spike said, Twilight finally lost it as she stormed over to her bedroom.
"Fine you can join! When your in the ground I know who to blame!" Twilight yelled as she slammed her door shut, Discord looked at Spike.
"I'll calm her down you do what you have to do, it's a tough life Spike but again it's your choice if you want to join and I admire you for your choice." Discord said.
"Thanks Discord!" Spike said as he went to sign up, Discord knew that his wife wasn't happy and he would have to deal with it when he went to see her, he went to Twilight's room and began to speak to Twilight. They had an argument but in the end Twilight decided to let it go as she knew that she couldn't stop Spike. She didn't speak to Discord for the rest of the night.
Spike went to sign up and was reviewed by a medical doctor to see if he was fit for the job, when he passed the review he finished signing up and looked forward to the future although he was still nervous.
The next morning Discord and Twilight made up and she also apologized to Spike through a letter as Spike was going to stay at the academy for few months in order to train and hopefully join. Twilight worried about Spike but she accepted that it was his choice. Spike came home after a few months as he was allowed to and they hung out for a few weeks and he was ordered back after the time he was allowed to visit her.
