Mages, Fiends and Ladies

Reminiscence

Previous Chapter

Upon entering the class, you saw Ms. Cheerilee as always leading the English subject. You made your way towards your seat, still feeling a little embarrassed about what happened earlier. That moment when you walk away with your head covered with both of your hands, it was just really awkward with them.

"Great job _______. You made a fool of yourself out there today. What a way to start the Friday," you flustered in thought.

As you sat there idly listening to the history of gods and goddesses during Greek era and how they caused fights with each other, the lesson is strangely familiar to you. You remember something faintly but you couldn't make it out. A woman with a strange, yet godly power whose purpose is to bring suffering and anarchy to anyone who dares defy her. You shook your head, as these images are starting to disturb you even more than you can imagine. You find this strange and fearful as to why this kind of imagery...or, perhaps, a memory would remain in your head. Was it something to remind you of? Of you were before? No, it isn't possible. It's....not. You continued to shake your head just to concentrate on the lecture.

"Mr. _______. Are you okay?", Ms. Cheerilee asked as this made you snap back to your senses.

"Ohhh....Uhhh....I'm fine. I just...remembered something," you replied while bringing head down.

"Well, pay attention. Might as well go to the clinic if you're not feeling well. Are you...not feeling well?" she asked with concern.

"I'm good. Just keep teaching."

Ms. Cheerilee shrugged and continued on, while you tried focusing on the subject. You sighed heavily, "Honestly, I'm not, ma'am", you said in thought. The subject went on and on for about an hour and a half and the bell rang, waking you from the sudden sound of dismissal. It was time to go home and you definitely need to. It was quite a day considering the whole saving-Fluttershy exploit, but it nearly paid its price. You pondered in thought as how you are going to ever control this magic conundrum. As you finished packing your things, you made your way to your locker to return the books that weren't necessarily needed for the weekend. After placing your things, you headed for the exit at a normal pace and continued to ponder in thought about her.

*Main 7 POV

As the school bell rang, the rest of the girls, including Rainbow Dash, fixed their things and were walking together, as expected to talk about their weekend plans.

"So, anyone have plans for today?", Sunset asked as she glanced at the girls with a beaming smile.

"Ooh, ooh. Me. How about another sleepover? This time at Rarity's place.", Pinkie hopped gleefully.

"I think we have too much sleepovers, don'tcha think, Pinkie?" Rainbow crossed her arms on her chest with a brow raised.

"Oh, I wouldn't mind darling. I rather enjoy our time together as always. Although, Rainbow has a point, Pinkie. I think we should change our bonding routine. I'm not saying we should not do this anymore. I'm just...used to these sleepovers with it being repeated over and over again. Tell you what, Pinkie", Rarity held Pinkie's hand and smiled. "After the sleepover tonight, how about we head to the mall for a little shopping?"

"That sounds even better! And you're right Rarity. I guess we had too much sleepovers." Pinkie pouted.

"It's alright, darling." Rarity returned a smile. The girls continued to walk towards the exit with conversations still being suggested on how their weekend should be spent.

"Oh, Rainbow. Before I forget, what was the punishment that Principal Celestia suggested?", Twilight asked.

"I hope it's not a major punishment," Fluttershy said in a soft tone.

"It was nothing too much to worry about. I think we had our own fair share of punishments," Rainbow said.

"That's ah' relief. What kind of punishment 'ya get, Dash?" Applejack asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Considering of what just happened earlier, I earned myself detention twice for 5 weeks." Rainbow told them. "That means I get 10 detentions in total and that would certainly affect my performance, especially at gym class."

"And what did Gilda get?", asked Twilight. Even though sometimes things get a little out of hand, Fluttershy still hopes that Gilda doesn't get expelled. She may be harsh, but that doesn't mean she has to face that kind of punishment. That would be just too much for someone like her to take.

"Ah...her. Since her exertion earlier, she got less detention than I did. I took things too far, I guess. There's one condition made by Celestia: if she ever hurt anyone again, she'll be saying hello to expulsion from the school.", Rainbow explained while the others exchanged looks with one another and set their eyes back on the athlete.

"I know it's illiberal," Rainbow now using the air quotes," but I think that's the proper punishment for her, considering these past years of her earning a reputation as the school's bully."

"Well, she brought this onto herself. No argument there, Dash", Rarity added as the others nodded, except Fluttershy. She knew this would happen someday, but there's nothing she could do at this point. What's done is done. Our actions can lead to some dreadful consequences, as others would say.

"So, that's all been taken care of. How about we all head home together?" Twilight asked as she smiled at the girls.

"Yes, darling, This week has been quite hectic lately, so I could use some beauty sleep," Rarity dramatically placed her hand on her forehead.

"Sure, Rares. We all know you're the last one to wake up," Applejack snickered as the others giggled while Rarity gave the cowgirl an indignant look in the eye.

"Hmph. Of all people, dear Applejack, you wouldn't understand how important sleep is to me." Rarity crossed her arms in front of her chest as she closed her eyes, in abhorrence.

"Oh...ah' do, in fact, understand 'ya. Ah'm just joking around, you know. Heh, heh"

"Good." Rarity replied, still with that loathsome look on her face.

As the conversation ended, they all went together to enjoy another weekend full of bonding ideas. However, Fluttershy was busy drifting in thought about who she saw earlier. She just can't seem take her mind off of it for some reason. There is something that he's hiding from everyone. Ever since he transferred at CHS as a Sophomore, he was usually the quiet type. When the bell rings for everyone to go home, he seems to be the first one out. He was some kind of rush all the time, avoiding anyone who comes near him. Fluttershy was worried that something is wrong about him. Although, she hasn't known the senior boy that much, she intends to help. She kept thinking as the girls were busy chattering with each other about there weekend plan. It was yet another week of relaxation and everyone is looking forward to it.

*________ POV

Heading down the halls, you continued to shake your head from the distorted images that flash in your head. Imagery of fire, destruction, death, gnashing of teeth and anything that could relate to agony. A blessing and yet a curse. To live a life where no help will come. A part of you wants to give up entirely, but you feel something within you. A glimmer of hope can still be possible, you just know it. It's a strange feeling but there is hope for everyone, including someone like you. As you headed out of the doors first, as usual, you look up to the sky and it seems that an orange and yellow setting has filled the vast sky. As you slowly lowered your eyes from the sky to the ground, you see students everywhere that got out first. They have their own company to share their weekend plans. The smiles and laughs made you even more depressed.

Sighing heavily, you inhaled deeply and exhaled before you begin to walk towards home. As you neared the same place where you watched 'her', you see the crushed tree bark still. You can't help but form a small smile on your face, knowing you protected Fluttershy, hidden from view. Passing along the green pastures, something still bothers from you. It was that...vision from earlier. Utter destruction maybe inevitable in the future, with you being the epitome of both arcane and chaos.

"No....it will never come to that," you said as you head home with a distressed look. You thought that getting some sleep would help you forget such a dreadful apparition. As you head home, you can only try to smile to stay optimistic throughout the day. Your home is not far now. Thinking about it, you suddenly remember the quote: "Home is where the heart is." Chuckling, you seem to feel comfort when you think these things.

“Heh. If only that were possible,” you murmured to yourself, as you look above the vast and boundless sky, with the sun setting on the horizon, catching your attention.
