A Comforting Sister

Scootaloo suddenly feels herself quickly descending at terminal velocity. She opens her tired eyes and and sees a dark, empty environment surrounding her. All that's to be seen is a full moon, stars, galaxies, nebulae, and some enormously tall trees. Looking down, she notices that she's falling into deep, black pit. A seemingly endless void. She can't fly, she hasn't learned to. All she can do now is wait until she either dies during the fall or until she hits a potential bottom.

The filly is left morbidly screaming and yelling for unlikely help. She can't die this young, she has so much time left to live. So much time left to admire Rainbow Dash. Her eyes well up with tears as she begins to think about the rainbow pegasus flying in at high speed, rescuing her from this dreadful situation. Unfortunately, that's probably not going to happen. She looks around the dark environment, and there's no one around. If Rainbow were there to rescue her, she would be able to see a bright rainbow trail coming towards her. "All hope is lost, I guess."

She's getting closer to the deep pit, having nothing to do about it at all. She has no choice but to fall to her inevitable doom. It's pretty much guaranteed that she's going to die sooner or later, so she starts to talk to Rainbow Dash as if she's actually there. "Rainbow Dash, I'm sorry for never learning to fly. You must be so disappointed in me." A few sobbing sounds start to come out of her from the feeling of shame she got out of apologizing. "I-I'm sorry I never got to impress you." She starts to see a worried face of Rainbow Dash emerge in the moon. "I'm sorry I n-never got to be like you..." She stares into the moon with Rainbow's face in it and proceeds to cry as she falls deep into the pit.

A long time has passed of nothing but falling into a seemingly bottomless pit. Scootaloo's eyes are still teary-eyed after all of that sobbing. She's pretty much ready for her inevitable death by now, and she wants the fall to just be over. "Ugh, can something just end all of this already?" she complains. Hopefully there's a bottom to this pit that can shorten this really long fall.

It turns out, there is. Scootaloo feels herself landing into something very, very soft. It's warm. Cozy. Comforting. It's like a nice hug after that whole situation. Finally something that Scootaloo can enjoy after falling for what feels like a long time. She snuggles deeper into the soft mattress, letting out a deep breath and relaxing deeply. She looks up to the distant moon and sees Rainbow Dash smiling at her, Scootaloo returning that smile as well. She lays back on her stomach, then begins to restfully close her eyes.

The relaxed filly wakes up to feel something even more comforting. She feels a very soft texture up against her back, and she's being embraced by two loving hooves. It feels like a sisterly love, like she's being hugged by Rainbow Dash. Scootaloo snuggles deeper into Rainbow with a cute little humming noise. She takes in the feeling of the embrace, and it's so relaxing to her.

A quiet laugh is heard from Rainbow. "Hehe, aww." She briefly holds her tighter and nuzzles her, causing Scootaloo to let out a cute squeak. Rainbow's nuzzle continues at a much slower pace for next couple of seconds. She did wonder though, what was going on with Scootaloo last night? "Hey, Squirt?" she asked very quietly.

"Y-Yea?" she responded, not exactly in the mood to engage in conversation at this time, but will do so regardless.

"I heard you quietly crying from downstairs last night. You mind telling me what that was all about?" she asks with a somewhat worried tone. She moves her head over to see the pegasus filly's face. Scootaloo sighs in hesitation before her eyes well up with a small amount of tears.

"I- I had another bad dream." she says with a nervous stutter. "But I was crying in my dream, not after it."

"A bad dream?" Rainbow takes her right hoof and pets the top of her head. "What was it about?"

The filly turns around, belly to belly. "I was falling into a deep, dark pit, unable to fly, and it felt pretty real."

"You were?" Rainbow asks as she pets Scootaloo from her head down her back with alternating hooves. "I'm sorry..."

"Yea, I was," she says while briefly looking away, failing miserably at trying to hide the smile on her face from cuddling with her non-biological sister. Deciding to just let it all happen, she sighs and plants her face in Dashie's chest with a nuzzle. She can feel Dashie's hooves stroking her back, and it feels quite nice. Deep breathing and cute sounds come out of Scootaloo as they cuddle. She affectionately wiggles deeper into her soft, gentle, comfy furry body. "Mmmm~" Rainbow can feel Scootaloo's slow, relaxed heartbeat against her, and it's somehow highly cute. Dashie lovingly hums back.

They've been cuddling for around 30 minutes now. After sleeping in with each other, they've satisfied all of the tiredness that came after waking up and are now wide awake. "Hey Squirt," she gently calls, breaking the long silence. Scootaloo adorably responds by opening her large pony eyes and curiously looking up at Dashie."You wanna come fly with me?"

"I- I think you would know the answer to that," she says quietly with a smile before she turns around to face away from her sister.

She feels Rainbow giving her back one last loving stroke, followed by Dashie getting up from the bed. She looks down at the hooves holding her, then looks up as she feels the gradual ascent into the air. Rainbow Dash carries Scootaloo to the front door as she watches where they're both going. Dash takes one hoof off of Scootaloo to open the door. They exit the house, then Dashie turns around to close the open door. "Ready to fly, Squirt?" she asks the cute filly.

"Sure I am," she says. Rainbow then proceeds to fly forward at what would be a comfortable pace for Scootaloo. The snuggly little flightless pegasus is having the moment of her life right now, being carried by her big sister in the open air that she never thought she'd be able to visit.
