Broken Dreams
I stood expectantly at the shore
My eyes looking at the water
The reflection of one so unsure
This wasn't the face of a flyer
Its been months since our last debate
When I thought you were the one I could relate
As I went out of my way for personal gain
You were for them anything but vain
Our first days were filled with joy and expectancy
For a future bright with you flying by at ease
That after few moments of melancholy
Gave me the bitter end of a bad disease
I found in you a much needed interaction
Something I've been missing dearly
You were one of great satisfaction
To have somepony to relate so clearly
We flew and raced together
Never as rivals but friends
One challenge after the other
Nopony could match our wings
As I grew competitive you were wary
For which reason I could not tell
I thought you to be of too much worry
We could always fly so well
Then things went wrong at one day
For reasons I hated to admit
You were there all the way
Why would you be so omit?
At first I believed my mistakes to be of my own
Yet you were never there to prove me wrong
Weren't you the one supposed to be loyal?
What's the point if you only care about the royal?
Your friends fell for my reckless attitude
Yet you went for them without fear
To deal with problem of such magnitude
You would never fail for those you held dear
I stood as a fool for thinking it was alright
Despite everypony else that has been in fright
Their eyes glared at me with clear despise
For I've been the one to nearly bring their demise
I left without feeling the need of an apology
For my wingpony has been there to help
It never gave me enough reason to try
To rescue those who fell and yelled
Her anger towards me was a surprise
For I did not know how much it meant
Those ponies who many would praise
I could only shrug and act indifferent
Few moments later I could remember
How she swayed my hoofbump away
That act being anything but tender
It sent my confidence into a disarray
In the end my confusion only made it worse
For me not having a clue on how to react
The once instructor and hero of my course
Came at me with her resolve intact
I froze fearfully at the sheer intensity
Which she came to pierce her eyes into my soul
Before ripping my dignity without much dexterity
I was the one being punished for the foul
The shock was numb at the first moment
Only when I left the gates I could finally wonder
What did I do to deserve such torment
From the ones I always admired since younger
As time went by her accomplishments increased
While I wandered around completely dismissed
For me there was nothing left to aim at
It was just a matter of going forth and back
The despair and pain consumed my mind
For I finally believed to serve no purpose
Being the one who could fly faster than the wind
But now that's the only thing it's left to lose
Celestia has forsaken me in this life
For I finally had nothing else to find
So I came upon through believing a lie
That my destiny was firmly set in a bind
Memories of a forgotten hope came in full
I allowed myself to dream when feeling dull
A dream which gave me strength to follow
Through a darkness that shaped my shadow
My heart was shattered but my mind clear
For everypony that has a purpose in their lifes
I would be the one to dig through the past
And relive the tale of those who ruled the skies
The night was my new found comfort
For I could not longer shine through the light
To those who disgraced me without discomfort
I would soon return to bash through their delight
With a renewed purpose came the conflict
For I still had hopes of becoming distinct
Yet only one stood in my way of true glory
The same that once dared to share her joy
For that mare friendship was a matter of opinion
I should've never believed her to be different
As she never raised a wing to voice a solution
She had been nothing but indifferent
The pain of the betrayal always stung
So much more than I would want to show
A place I once believed I truly belonged
I've been shoved away in a blow
I was scared of becoming something obscure
For I never took myself as one dark
Yet this new life made me feel pure
To something more meaningful of my mark
I would see her again very soon
And fight against my own very belief
For I did not want to be a shadow of the moon
Any result might bring me the final relief
Memories from a short lived dream rushed
I could briefly relive the days of happiness
During a time in which both of us shared
A dream long lost into the darkness
I felt as the pain took its tool
My eyes watering from despair
If I wasn't such a fool
We would still be the best flying pair
A challenge I would have to face alone
For I had no desire to spread the darkness
That it had nearly consumed me to the bone
I would act my way without boldness
A path I fell into without return
I knew my dream was never meant to be
Friendship was something I wouldn't earn
For the only friend I had left me
If I find my end through this encounter
I would not regret to be facing this bitter end
No matter how much pain I inflict through banter
Or how much punishment I take for granted
Rainbow Dash will always be my friend.
