I woke in the morning to Derpy crashing into my window. I asked “Derpy why are you here?”

Derpy replied breathing heavily “Express mail .. from Braeburn.”

I replied “Thank you Derpy, I appreciate it. ” I opened the envelope and begun reading the letter.

To Cousin Applejack

Ah’m glad you sent Cara, she is a wonderful mare. She has helped us with the harvest and even repelled a minotaur attack. She will be returning to Ponyville later today. She would make a beautiful wife for any stallion or “mare”.

From Braeburn

I blinked, is he seriously trying to get us together? What did Cara tell Braeburn?, yet again maybe he did figure it out, if she was being as obvious as I was then Braeburn definitely would’ve noticed. I sighed as I walked out to the farm. I felt the hours drag on. I can’t get my mind off Cara, I mean the two of us have only been together for 2 days.

I galloped out to start working. Why did I say together, am I really falling for a mare that I’ve only known for 2 days. I bucked the next tree causing apples to fall into the basket. I felt a hoof on my leg. Applebloom stared at me. She asked “Applejack, is something wrong?”

I realised I was frowning, I said “Ah don’t want to speak about it, it’s private.” Applebloom stared at me with puppy dog eyes. I sighed “Fine, Ah’ll tell you but you gotta Pinkie Promise me not to tell anypony.”

Applebloom said with a smile as she did the motions “Cross my heart, hope to fly stick a cupcake in my eye.”

I said pawing the ground “Ah may have a crush on Cara.” Applebloom looked worried for several moments. I asked “Are you okay, Applebloom?”

Applebloom said “Ah just need to think about some things.” She trotted towards the clubhouse. I would’ve followed but I have work to do. By the time I finished it was in the mid afternoon. I started pulling the cart when I felt a hoof on my wither.

I turned around to see Cara standing there. She smiled “Ah’m glad to see ya Applejack.”

I blinked as she had a similar accent to me. I smiled as I said “It’s good to see you, Sugarcube.”

Cara asked “Ah want to talk to ya about something?” I was about to reply when I saw Applebloom walk up to her.

Applebloom asked “We Crusaders have something important to discuss with you.” I watched as Cara followed as she winked at me. Applebloom scowled slightly at me, I was confused at her behaviour.

I decided to follow them, I got as close as I dared, I heard Applebloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo talking. I could make out some of their words.

Applebloom asked “Are ya ________ is a good idea?”

Cara replied “It will ____ fine, don’t _____”

Scootaloo asked “But what if __________ and something goes wrong?”

Cara replied “It will be fine, _____________ trust me.”

Sweetie Belle said “If you're sure, ______ support you.”

Cara replied “Thank you for _______, Ah’m ____________.” I heard the door open and galloped back to the house.

I starting preparing dinner, I watched as Cara trotted in, she was smiling as she sat down at the table. I wondered why, It must have had something to do with the talk with the crusaders.

I sat down and smiled as I asked “Sugarcube, what has made you so happy?”

She asked “Do ya want to have dinner somewhere tomorrow night? Ah promise it won’t be too fancy, just a simple cafe or diner.”

I blushed realising what she was asking, I replied nervously “Um, sure that sounds great, Sugarcube.”

Cara shouted “Great, see you there.” I watched as she finished her plate quickly and dashed off for a shower. I sighed before continuing my meal in silence, to think she would ask me out on a date. I bet Applebloom put her up to it or at least convinced her to take action.

I finished my meal and watched as Cara bounced down the stairs like Pinkie usually would. She must be really happy about our date tomorrow. I’m a little unsure, what she said about her family unnerved me. I got in the shower and started to wash off the stresses of the day. I looked at myself, you are going on a date with a mare who has had bad experiences with love, I just hope I ain’t using her.

I got into my bed and fell into a deep sleep. I woke to see Luna standing before me. I asked “Why are you here?”

Luna replied “I just wanted to see you, Cara is doing well I presume?”

I nodded as I asked “Do you know she repelled a minotaur attack?”

Luna replied “Yes, I did, I had a bad opinion of her at first but that changed when she protected my little ponies from minotaurs.”

I asked “Why did you have a bad opinion of her?”

Luna sighed “That is something she will tell you sooner or later. She cares for you a lot, I’m surprised she hasn’t asked you out yet.”

I said “Umm, she has and I’m uncertain. What if her family comes for me.”

Luna said “Your safe in Equestria, don’t forget that. Enjoy your sleep.” Before I could reply I fell into a dream about Cara.
