The Most Terrible Trio
"There is no revenge you could ever conceive of that will come close to what I will exact upon you one day, Starlight Glimmer!"
Chrysalis jumped off the cliff and flew away. No one bothered to follow her. They didn't think she was a threat now that she lost her army and her kingdom.
They couldn't have been more wrong.
Princess Celestia walked up to the gates of Tartarus, which Cerberus was guarding.
"I wish to enter," said Celestia.
Cerberus stepped aside. Celestia walked through the portal into the nightmare world. Conveniently for her, the prisoner she sought was closest to the gates: Lord Tirek. Thin, powerless, and imprisoned in a cage to prevent him from escaping again.
Celestia walked over to Tirek's cage.
"What do you want, Princess?" said Tirek.
"I am not Princess Celestia," said Celestia. "I am Queen Chrysalis! I'm going to break you out of here so you can help me exact my revenge on Starlight Glimmer!"
"Who?"
"A unicorn even more powerful than Princess Twilight Sparkle herself! Think of all the magic you could get out of that!"
Tirek licked his lips.
"But I'm powerless now. I can't use magic anymore."
"I can fix that once we're out of here." Chrysalis blasted Tirek's cage apart. She walked with Tirek, whispering "Pretend you're my prisoner."
Cerberus stood his guard as Chrysalis and Tirek got near him.
"I am transferring Tirek somewhere, for he has valuable information we need," said Chrysalis.
Cerberus stood aside, and Chrysalis and Tirek left Tartarus.
"At last, I'm free," said Tirek once they were out of range of Cerberus.
Chrysalis resumed her true form and cast a spell which restored Tirek's power. Tirek considered sucking Chrysalis's magic, but, she could be a valuable ally. He'd keep her around for later.
"I didn't know changelings could do that," said Tirek.
"I can," said Chrysalis. "This spell is the opposite of my dark crystal throne that blocked the magic of non-changelings."
"Now, let's get our revenge!"
"Not quite. There is another whose help we could use."
"Who?"
...
Disguised as Berry Punch, Chrysalis walked along the outside of the Crystal Empire, looking for something.
She found it.
King Sombra's horn was laying amidst fragments of dark crystal, from when he had been destroyed by the Crystal Heart. She picked it up with her teeth and flew to the cave where Tirek was hiding.
"Here is our ally," said Chrysalis, throwing Sombra's horn to the ground.
"It's just a horn," said Tirek.
"The horn of the most powerful, most evil unicorn that ever lived! We must bring him back to life! And there is only one unicorn who knows a spell who can do that."
"Who?"
"This same unicorn."
"So we're screwed!"
"You can suck the magic from this horn, and then bring him back!"
Tirek absorbed the magic from Sombra's horn, and Chrysalis cast her power restoration spell on it.
"Now, resurrect King Sombra!" said Chrysalis.
Tirek cast the necromantic spell, and Sombra's horn regenerated into the form of the evil, demonic-looking unicorn.
"I live again!" said Sombra.
"We have brought you back," said Chrysalis. "If you help us get revenge on Starlight Glimmer and Twilight Sparkle, we'll help you take over the Crystal Empire!"
"Deal," said Sombra, and he gave Chrysalis a brohoof.
The Mane 6 sat around a table.
"Girls, something terrible has happened!" said Twilight Sparkle. "Princess Celestia informed me that Chrysalis is back, and she's got King Sombra and Tirek with her!"
"Let's blast them all back to Tartarus!" said Rainbow Dash.
"We can't!" said Twilight. "Our Rainbow Power only works once. We can't use it again. Otherwise we could have used it on the Storm King and not had to go all the way to Seaquestria."
"There's always Discord," said Fluttershy hopefully. "He won't let Tirek trick him again!"
"Is this really necessary?" said Chrysalis.
"There is one thing I love, besides enslaving crystal ponies and killing ponies and dragons that are in my way," said Sombra.
"And, all I love is power!" said Tirek.
Chrysalis sighed. She had transformed into a flight of stairs, which Sombra was running up and down. Chrysalis fed off Sombra's love for stairs to become more powerful.
Once Chrysalis was sure she was powerful enough, she turned back, and they attacked Canterlot, reducing it to a burning wasteland. Tirek sucked the ponies' magic out, and Sombra blasted them to ashes.
Discord appeared in a flash of light.
"Surprise!" he said. "So, we meet again, Tirek! And Chrysalis! And... who's this?"
"Your worst nightmare," said Sombra, and he encrusted Discord's body with dark crystals.
"What's going on?" said Discord. "I can't use my magic?"
"Mine is greater than yours," said Sombra.
Tirek sucked Discord's magic again.
"This time we don't leave him..." began Tirek, but Sombra stabbed him in the heart with his horn. Without his magic, Discord was powerless, and he fell to the ground dead.
Celestia and Luna stepped up.
"You will not get away with this!" said Celestia.
"We should have dealt with Chrysalis when we had the chance," said Celestia.
"I am now more powerful than ever!" said Chrysalis, and she entered a beam struggle with Celestia.
"I'll help," said Luna, but Tirek sucked her magic out, and then blasted her to oblivion. Then he sucked Celestia's magic, causing Chrysalis to overpower her, reducing her to ash as well.
"Now, let's go after Starlight!" said Chrysalis.
"When do we get Twilight?" said Tirek.
"She should be close to her!" said Chrysalis.
The three villains laid waste to Ponyville, Tirek sucking out all the ponies' magic, before he, Chrysalis, and Sombra finished them off.
The Mane 6 faced the three villains.
"We've beaten you once and we'll beat you again!" said Twilight.
"You can't use your little rainbow again, can you?" said Chrysalis.
"And Discord's magic couldn't stand up to me!" said Sombra. "He was a weak opponent."
"What did you do to him?" said Fluttershy.
"What I'm about to do to you!" said Sombra, and he stabbed Fluttershy in the heart with his horn.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Rainbow Dash flew at Sombra, but he bit her wings off, shredded them with his teeth, slashed her with his horn, and blew her up with a magic beam.
Rarity shot a magic beam at Chrysalis, but Chrysalis countered with a more powerful magic beam that reduced her to ash.
Applejack bucked Tirek in the chest. Tirek was unaffected, and blasted Applejack to dust. Then he snapped his fingers, and Pinkie Pie exploded twice.
"Twilight, what's going..." Starlight stopped at the sight of the three villains before them, and Fluttershy's body.
"We're taking over Equestria!" said Chrysalis.
"Let's blast them at once!" said Twilight. She and Starlight shot their most powerful magic beam at Chrysalis, Sombra, and Tirek.
Chrysalis, Sombra, and Tirek countered with their own magic beam. Their energy waves collided, but after five seconds, the villains' beams overpowered Twilight and Starlight, knocking them to the ground.
Tirek ate Twilight and Starlight's magic, drastically increasing his size. "Now all I need is Princess Cadance!"
"Rarity?" said Spike.
Tirek stomped on him.
Rainbow Dash flew around the Crystal Empire. The Crystal Ponies were all gathered to see her flight patterns.
They did not notice Tirek suck all the energy out of the Crystal Heart, until he became even bigger and the sky turned red.
Sombra teleported in front of the Crystal Ponies. "My crystal slaves!"
Rainbow Dash transformed into Chrysalis. "I'm afraid the real Rainbow Dash is dead!"
Princess Cadance and Shining Armor ran out.
"King Sombra?" said Cadance. "You should be dead!"
"You will be," said Sombra, and he stabbed Cadance in the throat with his horn.
"Why did you do that?" said Tirek. "I wanted her magic!"
"Now that I've taken the Crystal Empire back, and all the ponies who could stop us are dead, I have no use for you anymore!"
Sombra encrusted Tirek's body with dark crystals, and then conjured a sharp dark crystal. He magically threw it at Tirek, impaling him through the heart.
"You're right," said Chrysalis. "Who needs him? We've exacted our revenge! And I will be your queen! I'll keep turning into stairs for you every day! That will give me power and satisfy your love for stairs!"
Sombra nodded. Neither was going to betray the other.
"How could you do that to Cadance?" said Shining Armor.
Sombra casually blasted him to oblivion.
Chrysalis tortured Twilight and Starlight beneath the caves of Canterlot in ways that would make Ramsay Bolton proud, while Sombra watched and licked his lips at the sight, helping Chrysalis in any way he could. Chrysalis stabbed Twilight in the throat with her own horn (after tearing it off), but tortured Starlight a little longer before finally ripping out her heart and eating it.
Of course, they later went to war with changelings and dragons, but crushed them, killing a few including Thorax and Ember (Chrysalis killing the former), and enslaving the rest. Sombra was powerful enough on his own, and Chrysalis backed him up while transformed into an Ursa Major.
And from that moment on, King Sombra and Queen Chrysalis ruled Equestria as its dictators for all eternity.
