There was a chill in the air as Twilight stared down at the map.
“No....” It was calling her. “No...!” And her friends. “No!” She looked around the room in a state of panic. This had never happened. She never expected it too. It was straight out of a nightmare. “No...you can’t...! You can’t be calling them! You can’t!” She glanced up at the chairs that had her and her friend’s cutie marks. Everyone of their’s was faded. Greyed out. The color that had once been there, colorful and bright was gone. For each of them. Except Twilight. She hadn’t been in this room for years, and hoped she never would have to ever again. But she heard it. The small whooshing. The bright glimmer of her cutie mark. She made a promise to herself she would never step hoof in the room again. But yet, here she was.
“No! You can’t!” She shot a laser through the holographic cutie marks. Nothing. It shot straight through, hitting a wall on the other side. “Please!” She begged. “You can’t be! They can’t-” In a state of anger, her horn lit up and she began to rip the chairs out of the floor. Applejack’s chair creaked and cracked and once it was removed, it emitted a horrible shattered sound. An orange light shined from the part of the chair that remained. It slowly made its way around Twilight, and flew straight into her chest. Twilight jerked at the sudden pinch. She looked over at the table. Nothing changed. She screamed, her eyes turning a possessed white, and fell down upon her back legs.
“You can’t do this! Not to me! They’re gone! Don’t you see?!” The chairs were ripped out one by one, and the same experience happened with each. They shot right through her. Each time she winced, taking a step backwards until she eventually fell upon the ground. Her pupils dilated as her horn lit up again and she ripped out a part of her crystal home.
“They’re gone!” She screamed at the map. “All of them! They’re gone! Don't you understand you ridiculous, idiotic, dumb, stupid rock-map thing! ” She began to beat the table with the large crystal rock. She hoped it would just zap away, that she wouldn’t have to deal with this type of situation ever again. But it didn’t work. Tears fled out of her eyes that had turned back to their normal state. That didn’t stop them from being wide with horror from the map. She slammed the crystal down on the table one last time. She fell down to the floor, curling up in a small ball.
"It’s been years....They’re gone now....How can you be calling them....?” She sobbed on the floor. “They’re gone. And I’m still here.” She glanced up at the shimmering map. “What are you trying to prove?” She laid her hoof upon the map, sighing.
“Or... what are you trying to tell me?” Slowly, darkness invaded the room. All light except from the map was completely faded out. The map began to grey out as the cutie marks of her friends faded. All of them, except hers. The pink star shined brighter than it had ever. It terrified Twilight.
"What do you want?" She whispered, standing up on her hind legs again. Her dark blue locks fell down over her eyes as she began to walk. She slowly neared the door. She wouldn't. She couldn't possible bring back all her past memories and pain because of a stupid map.
"No..." She said aloud, as if she was still talking to the map. "I can't go through this all over again." She allowed another tear to fall down her cheek. "Not again." She quietly opened the door, but before she could step through, it slammed shut. She turned to the map once more with confusion and shock.
"What?! What do you want from me, huh?! Huh?!" The room suddenly lit up, The cutie marks rising up in the air. The other started to spin around Twilight's. They spun around and around until eventually, they stopped. They had turned into Twilight's mini stars beside her magenta one.
"From one to another, another to one, a mark of one's destiny singled out alone fulfilled." She smiled as the cutie mark floated down to her and began to shine. "From all of us together, together we are friends, with the marks of our destinies made one, there is magic without end." The cutie marked shined brightly, and it, like all the other shots of magic, entered her chest. Her horn illuminated once more, filling the room. The walls around her were chipped away, and she realized she was in a dreamscape like surrounding. Like the one she had been in when she turned into an alicorn. Except this one was a bright pink, and much brighter. Small stars flew past Twilight as she walked down the pathway. This one had memories too. Not the bad ones, not the ones with funerals, the ones where she cried herself to sleep, the ones with pain. It was only the good ones. Her greatest memories and moments with her friends. She beamed softly as a shining door opened. It shined brightly, but it surprisingly wasn't blinding. She stared back up at the remembrance of her friends captured in her mind. She wasn't sure why, but the glowing door seemed to be calling her in a sense. She had the feeling she would end up right back at the castle, and have to continue on with her struggle. But she would be content with it. She had accepted it. For the longest time she refused to even think about them, let alone accept that they were gone. She grinned when she heard a slight humming sound. It was her cutie mark- she solved the friendship lesson. Her lesson. She stared back at the past replaying one last time, making herself promise to visit her oldest friends, and remind herself of her oldest memories.
"You may be gone..." She admitted aloud, taking a step to the door. "But you're always here." She walked through the door, happy to hear no noise from the map, for she had answered the call.
