Pineapple Pie
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was a cool summer evening in the city of Canterlot; Twilight Sparkle was studying with her mentor Princess Celestia, the book Magical Artifacts and their Significance in History laid out in front of them.
Twilight and the Princess had been laying pressed up against each other reading from the book, Celestia stretched and draped her wing over Twilight resting it on her withers.
Twilight smiled contentedly this night had been cooler than most and she had been shivering even though she was pressed up against the Princess who was quite warm and if Twilight was honest very comfortable to snuggle with. “Thank you Princess, it is quite chilly isn’t it?”
“Perhaps we can have a fire in the fireplace, and I believe the chef said something about hot cocoa as well. I’ll have to have some brought up for us.” Celestia said with a smile as she turned to the last page of the book.
“Oh, that sounds wonderful Princess; I think that’s just what we need!” Twilight’s cheerful voice and easy nature about it was coaxing Celestia’s smile to be even bigger.
She called the guards and asked them to have a servant bring up some cocoa and wood for the fire.
Twilight bounced a bit as Celestia returned from the door having handed out her request. She looked at the shelf for the next book they would study from her eager eyes roaming the titles. “This is so much fun Princess, I love being able to study with you like this again.” Twilight said in her enthusiastic adorkable way.
Celestia’s tail twitched in an agitated way. ‘It’s now or never’. She thought to herself.
“Twilight.” The alicorn said a with a frown on her face.
Twilight Sparkle looked up at the princess a smile on her face. “Yes Princess?”
Princess Celestia sighed as what she was about to say was hard for her. “Twilight, I am not sure how to say this, but I’ve been around for a long time.”
Twilight chuckled. “I know that Princess, that doesn’t seem like something you would need to tell me.”
Celestia deadpanned. “Twilight, I am trying to work up the nerve to say something, if you could please just listen.”
She gave a sheepish look, she wasn't used to the Princess being so serious. “Sorry Princess, go ahead.”
“I have been a Princess for a long time, and that time is often spent taking care of many duties. This often leaves me with little time for personal matters, needs Twilight; I have needs that sometimes only another pony can fulfill.”
Celestia bowed her head. “Twilight, you have grown into a fine mare and I would like very much if we could spend some time together, seeing to each other’s needs.”
Twilight's face showed her anxiety, had her mentor really just said that she wanted to be with her? “Oh umm Princess, that would be awkward I think... I’ve always thought of you like a mother. I don’t think I could do something like that with you. Besides, I’m... kind of dating Rainbow Dash.”
The shocked expression on the Princess’ face quickly turned to one of disappointment. “Oh, I am sorry my faithful student, I wasn’t even aware that you had a special somepony. When did this happen?”
Twilight’s expression grew fond as she thought back to that night.

After long hours of studying the effects of pegasi on the weather, specifically on winter weather, Twilight decided she wanted to do some practical studies on the subject. So she decided to ask a pegasus to help her, and what better pegasus than her friend Rainbow Dash, already on the weather team, and the best flyer in all of Equestria.
Twilight donned her saddle bags with research equipment carefully stored in them and headed out in search of Rainbow Dash.
It didn’t take long to find the speed loving mare, considering she was at the first place Twilight had looked, Sugarcube Corner. Rainbow was more than halfway through a stack of twelve cupcakes, though Twilight figured by the pile of crumbs on the table there was at least one cupcake worth there.
“Hi Twilight! Do you want to try one of my super-duper-ultra-deluxe-awesome-rainbow-cupcakes? I made some for Rainbow Dash, told her if she could finish a dozen I’d give her a special prize!” Pinkie Pie and her over enthusiastic salesmareship never failed to make Twilight chuckle, but she was here on a mission.
“Sorry Pinkie, I’m actually here to see Rainbow for something.” Twilight said with an apologetic smile.
“Okie dokie lokie!” The pastry chef replied bouncing away.
Rainbow Dash looked up. “You need me for something Twi?” She said around a mouthful of cupcake.
“Actually Yes Rainbow, I was wondering if you could help me with a little research.” Twilight trotted over to the pegasus to join her at the table.
“Research, why would I want to do that? That sound like some egghead stuff to me.” Rainbow snorted munching on another cupcake, she only had three left.
“Well, the research I’m doing is on weather, and I figured who better to help me that the number one weather pony in Ponyville? Plus I’ll totally make it worth your while.” Twilight answered her voice a little bit more suggestive than she had meant it to be.
Rainbow Dash gave Twilight an odd look before popping the last cupcake in her mouth. “Aw yeah, done!” She yelled as Pinkie Pie clapped for her from behind the counter. “I’ll get you your special prize later, Dashie. Twilight needs your help right now though.” The party pony declared with a grin on her face that went from ear to ear.
Rainbow Dash shrugged. “Alright, but you better believe I’m going to be back for my awesome prize Pinkie Pie.” She joined Twilight as they headed out of Sugarcube Corner, not noticing the sly gaze of the pink party pony.
As they got outside into the night air, the crispness of winter giving everything a sharp feel. ‘At least the wind isn’t too bad.’ Twilight though to herself pulling her scarf a bit tighter.
“So what’d you need Twilight?” Rainbow asked flexing her wings against the cold, her breath fogging in the air.
“Oh, well Rainbow what I wanted was to see if –“

“Twilight dear.” The Princess said dryly.
“Yes Princess?” She asked surprised.
“I understand your enthusiasm my student, but if you wouldn’t mind I asked how you two got together.” The impatient tone Celestia was using caused Twilight to reel back a bit.
“Oh uhh, sorry Princess, long story short?” Twilight asked backing away a bit.
Princess Celestia noticed the effect her tone had on Twilight. ‘Good going you old bat.’ She thought to herself. “I am sorry Twilight; I didn’t mean to sound like that. Please go on.”
Twilight coughed a bit before continuing clearly rattled by the Princess. “Well, long story short my experiment garnered positive results, but the cold air, especially up in the clouds was a bit much for me, and Dash started cuddling with me to help me get warm. Next thing I knew I was kissing her... We’ve been dating since.”
Princess Celestia was silent for a while as she absorbed this information, Twilight could see the heartbreak on her face. Tears started welling up in Twilight’s eyes. “I’m sorry Princess, I didn’t know.”
She smiled down at Twilight. “Twilight, my most faithful student. You have nothing to be sorry for, I am happy for you and Rainbow Dash. What do you say we get some sleep? You have a long trip ahead of you tomorrow.”
Twilight sighed. “It’s just back to Ponyville, Princess... Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
She hesitated fumbling with her hooves as she tried to think of the right words to say. “Twilight, I didn’t tell you because I was afraid of how you would react. I have been in this situation before, there is a reason I haven’t been in a relationship in a rather long time.”
Twilight got low starting to hide her head behind her hooves. “Princess, I’m sorry. I love Rainbow Dash; I don’t know what else to say.”
Princess Celestia was quiet for a bit, her brows furrowing as she thought. Eventually she looked down at Twilight her old smile back on her face.
“Twilight, do not worry about it, I love you dearly, but there are other ponies, and I am just happy that my student is happy. In fact I have an idea. When you return to Ponyville I think we should have a party for you and your friend.”
Twilight was shocked for a bit then she shook her head. “Princess we haven’t told our friends yet, we were waiting for the right time.”
The Princess smiled at her student. “What better time than with a party? We could have your friend Pinkie Pie host it.”
Twilight Sparkle looked unsure but smiled at her mentor. Nuzzling against her, she felt happy that things were going back to normal. The Princess returned the nuzzle but her eyes showed a different light that Twilight Sparkle missed.
“I think you’re right Princess, maybe it is time we told everypony. And I think a party is a great way to do that.” She smiled.
“I think so too my faithful student, I think so too.” The Princess had a plan now, and it was a good one if she did say so herself.

“I am surprised at you ‘Tia, I did not expect you to give up your hold on your student so easily.” Princess Luna said as the royal carriage took them towards Ponyville.
It was the next day, Twilight Sparkle had already been returned to Ponyville to begin preparations, including but not limited to informing Rainbow Dash of the plans.
“Lulu, it shouldn’t be any surprise, after all Twilight is her own mare, and she is in love with Rainbow Dash. I couldn’t be happier for her.” Celestia said in her stoic regal way.
The Princess of the night nodded sagely as she gazed out over the land below them, her wings spread slightly to feel the air rushing against them. "We believe this to be true sister, Twilight Sparkle has shown great strength many times, including when she freed Us from our corruption."
Celestia frowned at the reminder of the pain the two sisters shared, Luna's banishment to the moon always sat heavily on her shoulders. Internally however she was giddy, her plan was already in motion.

Meanwhile at Sugarcube Corner Pinkie Pie was already in full party mode, having gathered up many balloons and streamers, she was already working on baking treats for the party bouncing around at full speed.
She stopped suddenly when she noticed a pineapple on the counter, she didn’t remember it being there before, but it seemed like great luck.
“Oh my gosh, I’ll make a pineapple pie!” She exclaimed enthusiastically. Being unaware of the fruits magical nature.
