Apple Annie Oak Tree
Chapter 7
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThat evening, Annie goes with Papa Big Buffalo and Little Bird back to their Indian grounds and join her into the family. Once she's accepted into the Indian tribe, Annie begins to sing. "Big horn, little horn, I'm an Indian too, I'm an Indian too, I'm an Indian too, thin hoof, thick hoof, wide shoulder, broad shoulder, I'm an Indian too. I'm an Indian too, yes I'm an Indian too!"
Big Buffalo smiles as he goes over and kisses Annie on the head and responds, "yes, you're an Indian too."
A few hours later, Annie returns to the hotel where she finds Franklin sitting outside her room. "What are you doing outside my room?" asks a shocked Annie.
"I was waiting for you to get back, I want to talk," replies Franklin.
"About what?" inquires Annie.
"Let's go in your room and I'll tell you." Annie nods and lets Franklin into her room. He sits down in the bed across from her bed. "Annie," he says with a smile on his face, "I love you. I think I've loved you since that first day we met, the day you beat me in the shoot out."
"I love you, too," replies Annie as she walks over and gives him a kiss on the cheek. "I was hoping you'd tell me you felt the same."
"You were?" says a confused Franklin.
"Yes, I was," replies Annie. "Now, let's grab the rest of them and go down to dinner." Franklin nods and the two grab her siblings and Buffalo Billiard and they all go down to dinner together. At dinner, Annie and Franklin smile at each other as they eat. Buffalo Billiard just rolls his eyes. The two may be in love, but they don't have to show it at the dinner table.
After dinner wraps up, Annie's siblings return to their room while Annie and Franklin stay downstairs for hours on end and sit outside in the cool night air. Buffalo Billiard, meanwhile, sits at the hotel bar and downs several shots. He's glad the two are happy together, he's glad they're a couple. He just doesn't want to see them kiss and goo goo at each other all the time.
