The Past Isn't Done With You
Chapter 2- '"It's" Not a Pony
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Damnit".
Starlight rolled off the bed in frustration from the suns light leaking through her window. She propped herself up on all four hoofs, and began slowly trotting to the window. Upon opening the blinds, she hissed at the light as if she were a vampire. After a couple of second of trying to adjust her eyesight, she turned around and headed towards her mirror. It was the mirror Twilight gave to her as a gift after defeating Queen Chrysalis. A gift Starlight admired deeply.
"You look like shit" Starlight said to herself as she stared at her reflection. She took a glance at her tangled mane and the dark bags that ran under her red tired eyes. A light sigh escaped from her lips, before a smile formed on her face when she looked at the pictures of her friends that were plastered on the edges of the mirror. Her smile especially widened when she glanced at one of the pictures that met the most to her. It was a picture of her and Trixie hugging eachother.
A light blue aura surrounded the picture, before it levitated closer to Starlight. Her heart began beating as she stared at the photo, and her cheeks began to warm up. After the fight between Queen Chrysalis, Starlight began having stronger feelings toward her friend. Feelings that made her feel as if she wanted to be more then just friends with Trixie. Whether Trixie felt the same way was a completely different story that Starlight just hasn't read yet.
After a couple of minutes of staring at the photo, she levitated it back onto the mirror, grabbed her bag, threw some bits in it and tossed it over her back before heading out of her room.

As the day went on, Starlight tried to forget the nightmare she had, chalking it up as just that.....only a nightmare. She made a grocery trip with Twilight down at the market, which really began easing her mind about the situation.
"So....Spike told me you had a bad dream last night", Twilight said, as she was looking around for the stand that sold tomatoes.
"It was just a bad dream, that's all".
"Well, apparently based off what Spike told me, it really had you spooked".
"For real Twilight, it was just a dream". Twilight rose her eyebrow up in suspicion, but immediately stopped thinking about it ounce she found the tomatoe stand.
"Well, if you need to talk about it just let me know" Twilight said as she scanned through the plethora of tomatoes, trying to scavenge the best looking ones. "Could you go get some pineapples"?
"Sure" Starlight said as she rolled her eyes and smiled, before trotting away in search of a stand that sold pineapples.
"Sweet Celestia is their no place that sells the damn fruit"? Starlight searched almost every stand, and not a single one of them showed evidence of selling a single pineapple. Just as Starlight was about to call it quits, her eyes fell upon a stand that was hidden behind two other stands, and on its table rested the fruit that the mare was trying to find. It shined in Starlights eyes as if it were gold.
Without hesitation she headed towards the stand, and began picking out two pineapples. After finding two perfect ones, she digged in her bag for some bits. "I'll take two please", she said while still fishing for some bits.
"Why of course my dear...although, it might cost you more then bits".
Starlight immediately froze in place. Her eyes widened and her heart began beating faster. It couldn't have been real. That voice. It was the same calm, menacing voice that she knew to well. She let go of the two bits she had in her mouth, and slowly rose her head out of her bag to face the stallion. Upon laying eyes on him, she was about to pass out.
The "stallion" had dark grey fur, and long black hair that covered half his face. His eyes were a blood shot red color, and his sharpened teeth emitted the most evil grin Starlight had ever seen. He had on a long black trench coat that seemed to blow with the light breeze, and resting ontop of his head was a black fedora that was tipped lower on one side, producing a shadow that covered his left eye.
"Come on Starlight...PAY UP" his voice rose and became demonic upon saying the last two words. Starlight slowly began backing up, before passing out on the grass. The last thing that she heard was a faint evil laugh.

"Starlight....Starlight....Starlight are you ok"?
Starlight slolwy opened her eyes to the sight of Twilight standing over her with a scared expression. She slowly regained consciousness and began to sit up.
"Wha..what happened"? She asked dazed as she placed a hoof on her head. She began seeing a circle of concerned ponies gathering around her ounce her eye sight began to focus.
"I don't know, you tell me, we found you just laying right here for no reason" Twilight explained as one of the ponies handed her a cup of water.
"I...I was heading towards the sta....."Starlight trailed off of her sentence and she began looking around the empty patch of grass were she swore the stand was. "........Stand".
Twilight raised an eyebrow while levitating the cup towards her friend. "There's no stand around here, in fact your a mile away from the market. When I realized you were no where in sight, I got nervous". Starlight had a blank expression on her face, before her memory caught up to her, and within a split second she remembered everything that happened. She levitated the cup of water that Twilight offered and chugged the whole thing down.
"It's ok everypony, everything's all good here, just continue on with your day" Twilight said, trying to get rid of the crowd. Ounce she saw that not a single pony was still watching, she looked down at Starlight, who was shaking uncontrollably and looked as if she had turned a bit pale. "Starlight please, tell me what's wrong". Twilight sat down beside her trembling friend and wrapped her arm around her.
"It's...hard to explain", Starlight said as she calmed her shaking in the comfort of Twilights caring attitude.
"I'm sure we can find a solu..."
"NO" Starlight yelled as tears streamed down her face. Twilight was taken a back by this and was now not only concerned, but very confused. She and her friends had overcome many life threatening obstacles, so she didn't understand what was scaring Starlight.
"Look..Twilight" Starlight began saying as she sniffed and wiped her tears away. "This is something that's far beyond our power. I can't explain it, but it's something that cannot be stopped, and I just don't want you to get hurt". Starlight placed her hoof on her concerned friends shoulder.
"Because I think my greatest fear is about to come true, and something I buried long ago is about to rise from the grave and I'm not sure if anything can stop it".
Twilight stared at her friend in shock from what she was hearing. A million questions were racing in her head, and at first she felt a little insulted by being told that she was ultimately useless in this situation. But something about Starlights look of absolute terror sent chills up Twilights spine. It was the look somepony would give....when they knew they were about to go through something unspeakably terrifying.
"Just tell me what it is, and I promise you we will get through it...together".
Author's Note
I feel like dialogue is something I need to work on, because when I write it, it seems unnatural and forced. As for the monster that's haunting Starlight, I'm still debating which direction to take him. Probably in the next couple of chapters he's going to start becoming a lot more dangerous and do more things then just stalking. Another thing I need to work on is repetitive words. I find myself using the same phrase or word lots of times. Anyways the next chapter should be out probably by Sunday or Monday, Maye even Saturday if I can finish editing it.
