It was August 2nd. I woke up that day knowing that someone will be having her very first birthday.
She stirred and looked at me with her misaligned eyes.
"Happy birthday my Muffin!"
Derpy Hooves smiled.
I got her and I ready to go to school.
When we got there I gave her a Disney birthday mouse hat that the school has.
I let her wear it all day. School was very special for us.
During all that day everybody wanted to know if it was Derpy's birthday. I told them it was. Derpy couldn't help but smile.
After school, Derpy and I just relaxed at home.
My mind wondered off to a familiar scene.
The day she was born.
It seemed just like yesterday that a box was sitting on my bed.
It was a package for me.
I got my Leatherman and used the scissors to cut open the box.
I opened the box and there she was.
"Muffin!"
Then she said her first word.
"Mama!"
My little Muffin slept with me that very night. She liked the way I hugged her very close to me. Her favorite thing was when I hold her close to my chest. She could hear my heartbeat.
The next morning I was sick. Derpy felt scared.
She said, "Mama ok?"
I had to stay home for a few days.
Derpy didn't mind.
After my illness I took Derpy with me to school.
I didn't want to leave her home alone. Most of my friends were glad to see her.
On Monday I let her bake muffins with me. We had fun.
On Saturday I let her spend the night at Grandma's with me.
It really went by so quickly.
On her birthday she loved it when I gave her a birthday kiss.
My mind wondered off to her very first Christmas.
Not to long before the holiday I told her everything about Christmas.
Such as the birth of Jesus, the North Pole, the joy of giving and family, toy making elves, flying reindeer, and most important of all, Santa Claus.
She was so excited.
She asked, "Santa go bye bye?"
I answered, "He doesn't come till Christmas Eve."
On Christmas Day Derpy jumped up and down on my side and said, "Mama Mama Santa Santa!"
I knew she would love it.
She also had a fun Halloween, Thanksgiving, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Easter.
She also celebrated my birthday. Derpy and I love doing everything together.
Soon her second Halloween is coming up. I know she'll have lots of fun like last year.
I know her second Thanksgiving and Christmas will be fun too.
That night on her birthday, I snuggled her close and Derpy said, "I love you Mama."
I smiled warmly.
She had said her first complete sentence.
She is such a quick learner. She is so smart.
I know she'll be saying more and more complete sentences very soon.
I hope you can see how much I love you

I just hope you have the strength for you to see

I know Muffin that you can see so many happy things like I do.
So before we go out the door remember to put your happy face on. And share that beautiful smile with the world.
Don't let anybody's words hurt you. If they do remember that I'll protect you from all around you.
Share you happiness with everybody and let them see that you can shine.
When I look at you Muffin I see so much of me in you.
You have an upbeat and happy personality as much as I do.
You make everybody so happy with your little quirks.
I know that they are some people who joke about you and me. But don't let that get to you.
So never think you're stupid or a disgrace to me. I know you have so much potential that you can achieve anything.
Maybe we can both learn that together.
Because I need to remember that too.
I love you Muffin. Don't ever ever forget that.
You have so much love and laughter in you. I know because I'm just like you. You are my daughter.
I know you can see a whole different world without denting the surface.
You're a special pony my Muffin.
I know that for sure.
I know you have so much to offer in the world.
Know that no matter what happens you must be strong for me.
And I must be strong for us.
So when I cry don't think that it's because of you but it's because I get hurt easily.
Remember that my love is very strong.
I hope you'll realize that I mean what I say. I speak the truth.
I love you with all my heart.
Let not my ways confuse you or let anyone tell you things that are hurtful.
You mean the whole world to me. You are my whole world. And you always will be.
I'll never let anything happen to you.
I know you love me back. You are the reason I keep smiling.
And remember I will always love you no matter what.
So no more hurtful talk ok?
I will always be there for you.
You will have my undying love.
I will always be here even when you can't see me.
