Deep in the Everfree Forest lies the castle of the royal pony sisters and within the castle lays a disused room with a large stone ring. On average this ring was nothing special. It had sat in this room doing nothing, since it was first moved here shortly after the sisters took their thrones. But its time doing nothing was at an end as the ring started to spin in place and various parts start to light up. A short time later it stops, and a large wave of blue water like energy gushes forth from the space inside of it. Once it stabilized a short and stout looking robot on wheels roles out of the energy distortion and moves into the room.

On a different planet buried within Cheyenne Mountain was a facility called Star Gate Command. The commander of the base was gathered with several others, they were overlooking a large stone ring of their own. "So, Dr. Jackson what have you been able to figure out about this planet?"
"Well General, even taking into account that there isn't a lot of information on most of the planets the ancients had a keen interest in. There is even less on this one. There isn't anything other than the address, what looks to be a report of some kind, and a name that translates as equine. My guess is that they were doing some type of experiments or testing on horses there."
"Chevron seven locked, wormhole established," chimed in Walter
As the wormhole settled General Hammond nod to Capt. Carter, "Send the MALP, and let us see what’s over there."
The MALP runs up the ramp and heads through the gate, and onto the planet beyond.
"MALP has arrived," stated Carter, "receiving telemetry now. It looks as though the gate is in a building, which states some kind of civilization over there. The MALP reads normal levels for atmosphere and gravity, it’s not detecting any know contaminates in the air sir."
Hammond looks over to Col. O'Neill, "SG-1 you have a go."
The four members of SG-1 head out of the control room and down into the gate room. As O'Neill walks up the ramp he looks over to Carter and remarks. "I wonder if they were trying to breed faster horses, if so I say we take some and enter them in some races, I bet we could make a killing."

As SG-1 reached the castle basement Col. O'Neill ordered, "Alright let’s see if we can find a way out of this building. Everyone keep a look out for those prize winning races horses."
"Sir, even if the Ancients were breeding race horses I doubt that any of them are still around. At best I say this is probably their lab, maybe we can find some of their research notes to take back to the base," Replied Cater.
"O'Neill, I have found the exit there is a hall beyond, there appears to be stairs at the end. I believe we may be under ground," stated Teal'c.
SG-1 filed out of the room and up the stairs. When they entered the main hall they got a feeling that their guesses may have been a little off. "Guys I think we are in a castle, those look a lot like thrones up there." Said Daniel, "Those tapestries above them might suggest that it wasn't horse breeding going on here, but a culture that has horse gods.
"It appears this castle has been deserted for quite some time. There may be no one left for us to find," Teal'c remarked
The team headed out side and found that they were in a large forest. They spotted an old road leading off into the distance. "Alright folks who's up for a walk?" quipped Jack. Shortly down the road they spotted fresh horse tracks in the dirt. "See look tracks we'll find the people here, scout it out, and be home in time for supper." Half an hour down the road they heard wolves growling just inside the tree line. "Form up folks; we might be having company in a bit." Shortly after they saw several large wolves jump out of the trees and onto the road. The only problem was that these wolves appeared to be made out of just sticks. "OK, does anybody else see the wolves made of wood in front of us? Daniel, do you think this could be an ancient experiment of some sort?"
"I don't think so, but I don't know everything that they did. My question though is why they would do something this odd. Look out here they come!" Daniel shouted as he shouted the wolves charged at them. A quick burst of fire from their rifles, and the wolves broke into individual sticks. A problem quickly arose when the sticks and logs glowed a pale green, and started to reassemble themselves back into the wolves.
"Teal'c try something a little bigger," shouted Jack. Hearing this Teal'c pulled out his staff and sent several bursts down range. This time when they blew to pieces they didn't reform again. "OK that’s something I haven't seen before; Carter, Daniel do you have any idea what those were?"
"I don't know sir; I can only guess it was some kind of advanced telekinetic powers that was holding them together. But I don't know how or why they would form large wolves." As Carter picked up a few of the sticks she looks for some kind of technology that would explain how it worked. Finding none she looks to Daniel to see if he had any ideas.
"I have never heard of any civilization that had anything like this. I didn't even know that this was possible, Teal'c have you heard of something like this." Seeing the big man shake his head Daniel sighed. "Maybe there is a town of some sort down the road that we can ask about this."
After another thirty minutes of walking the trees started to thin out. "About time, I was starting to think that this forest covered the entire planet," Jack complained. As they came out of the forest they saw a large apple orchard with some farm buildings in the distance. In the field they saw a large horse pulling a plow, and in the orchard another walking through the trees. The only problem was that none of them saw a person with either of the horses. "Maybe they are just trained very well on what to do," commented Jack.
"Let’s head over to the farmstead that’s where the people should be." Putting thought to action Daniel started heading to the buildings. When they reached the yard Daniel called out; "Hello, is anybody there?" When they heard an elderly voice call out something in return, they were relieved that somebody was here. That relief crashed and burned when a light green colored horse came around the corner. Their sense of normalcy went right out of the window when the green horse opened its mouth and spoke in the same voice that replied to them earlier. "OK, I was not expecting that. Did everyone else just see that horse talk?" Seeing their nods Daniel sighs and calls out to the horse. "Hello can you understand me?"

Granny Smith was helping Apple Bloom feed the chickens when she heard somepony call out. Turning to Apple Bloom she told her; "Keep feeding the chickens I'll see what they want." As she walked out of the coup she called out; "Hold your horses I'll be right there." As she rounded the barn she saw four figures that she had never seen before. When one of them says something that she doesn't understand, she calls back to Apple Bloom. "Apple Bloom go get your brother and sister, and tell them we have company. After that head into town and get Twilight we may need her help in this matter."
"But Granny what about the chickens?" Replied Apple Bloom from the coup.
"Never you mind the chickens just go get your siblings like I said." After hearing Apple Bloom run out of the coup and into the field, she turned back to the strangers. "I don't suppose that any of you can understand me can you?" Seeing the blank faces at what she said she sighed. Raising a fore hoof she made a beckoning motion and said. "We may as well wait in the house till the rest arrive, so just follow me." With that she turned and headed for the house to make up some tea.

Daniel was just dumbfounded as the horse, judging by the way the voice sounded an elderly mare, called something back over its shoulder. He heard a younger voice reply, apparently something that the mare disagreed with. Then he saw a small filly run out of the chicken coup, if the squawking chickens were to be believed, and head out into the field were the other two horses were working. The old mare speaking again drew his vision back to the one in front of them. When it raised a hoof and actually beckoned them to follow it as it turned around and headed for the house. Looking at the other three members of the team he could see that they were just as confused as him. "So do you think that we should follow it?" he asked to Jack.
"I don't see why not, just keep you guard up this could be some kind of trap." As they started to follow the mare, Jack noticed that Carter wasn't following them. "Carter, anybody home." he teased, as he waved his hand in front of her face.
Sapping out of her daze she looked at Jack. "Sir, that was a talking green horse right?" On seeing his nod, she seems to deflate a little while she tries to figure where she left her sanity. "Maybe they are holograms, or better yet some kind of android. We have seen enough that it could be possible, because I won't believe that it was a real talking horse."
"Mare actually," chimed in Daniel. Seeing their looks he quickly explains; "the voice sounded like that of an elderly lady. I don't know if I can draw a perfect comparison, but I think that it was an old mare. Besides we won’t get any answers out here lets follow her into the house and see what’s there." Having said his peace he headed off to the house, Teal'c just tilted his head as he look to Jack on what to do next. Jack just shrugged back at Teal'c, and turned to follow Daniel into the house

Apple Bloom was running full tilt into the orchard where Applejack and Big Mac were working. She knew that when Granny Smith uses that tone of voice she was not to be messed with. Seeing them both just up ahead, she ran up to them to carry out he orders. "Applejack! Big Mac! Granny wants both of you back at the house right away. She said that we have company and she needs your help." Having delivered her message she turns to head into town, when her sister asks her where she is going. "Granny said to get Twilight, because we might need her help for some reason." With that she dashed off into town, heedless of further questions.
"Well Big Mac sounds like Granny needs our help. Let’s get back and see if we can't get some answers from Granny." Applejack turned and raced to the house with Big Mac hot on her heels.

When Granny Smith got into the kitchen she put the tea pot on the stove, and got some crackers out of the cupboard. She then sat down to wait for either her guests, or Big Mac and Applejack. Hearing steps on the porch she looked up to see the strange creatures come in through the door. She just couldn't figure out what they were, they walked on two legs like that baby dragon Spike. Though these didn't appear to have tails of scales on them; instead they had on strange clothes and carried unusual things with them. Hearing the tea pot whistle she got up to fetch the pot. As she came back to the table she wondered what they ate. Oh well, everypony liked her green grass tea; she poured a glass for herself and four for them. Seeing them hesitate at the door she pushed the glasses forward. "Come on the tea is good, and it will help pass the time till the rest of my family show up."

As the members of SG-1 came into the house they were surprised to see how modern it looked. Catching sight of a tea pot on the stove Daniel realized that tea was soon on the way. Carter meanwhile was trying to figure out how horses could come to this level of development without hands. "I just don't understand how they could build such a modern house and farm. Granted the technology level is early 1900's, but still how did they do this?"
Jack just shrugged, "I don't know Carter, but as soon as Daniel figures out how to speak with them we'll find out." Hearing the tea pot whistle, they looked over to the stove and where they were surprised to see the green horse reach up and pick up the pot. She poured several glasses, and then pushed several of them forward for them to drink.
Daniel catching the hint came up to the table and took a sip, turning back to the others he remarked. "This is actually pretty good, kind of like green tea." Upon his urging the others came up to try it as well, Teal'c and Jack cringing at the bitter taste of the tea. Hearing more steps on the porch they turned to see two more horses a red stallion, and an orange mare wearing a cowboy hat of all things.

When Applejack came up to the door, she quickly figured out why Granny Smith sent for them. In their kitchen were four critters she had never seen before. She walked in and came up to granny, "granny what are these critters? I've never seen their like before."
Granny Smith just shook her head; "neither have I, that’s why I sent for Twilight. It seems that neither of us can understand the other, I was hoping Twilight could fix that somehow. Hopefully your sister gets back soon; this is starting to get slightly awkward." Big Mac meanwhile just set himself between the strangers and his family, just in case they tried anything.
Just as they were setting down to wait for the others, there was a loud pop and a purple flash from outside. Right after Twilight came rushing in through the door and right up to Granny Smith. "What’s the problem Apple Bloom came running into the library and said you needed my help right away!" When they just pointed behind her, she turned complaining the entire way. "What are you pointing at? There’s nothing - what are those creatures?"
"Well sugar cube we were hoping that you could tell us that. Oh, and do you have a translation spell; we can't speak one another's languages apparently."
"I do know one without looking, but I don't know if it will work. It's an older one and doesn't work as well as newer versions." With that she cast the spell, and with another bright purple flash filled the kitchen. "Well I wonder if it worked? Can you understand me now?"

As they were drinking their tea Jack was starting to get uncomfortable with the silence in the room. "Daniel why don't you work that language magic of yours and figure out what they are saying."
"Sorry Jack I've never come across a language like this. It could take weeks or even months to figure it out." Before he could say more a bright flash came from the yard out front. "What was that?" Daniel was completely gob smacked when a purple unicorn came rushing into the room and right up to the elderly mare. Poor Carter on the other hand, just gave up hope that any sense could be made from this planet and its equine inhabitants. Teal'c and Jack just merely raised an eyebrow at the newest strangeness of the day. After a quick discussion the purple unicorn came forward, this time when its horn flashed they were blinded by the light. As their vision cleared they heard someone say; "Well I wonder if it worked? Can you understand me now?" Daniel being the first to pull his thoughts together responds. "Um, yes we can understand you now. I guess that solves the language problem, but how did you do it. It would have taken me months to figure yours out?"

"Oh, it was just a translation spell, simple magic really. I actually didn't think it would work it was an older one. Um, is that one going to be OK?" Twilight pointed to Carter, having slumped into a chair. Not being able to take spells and magic in her science world view to well.
"Oh, she will be fine just a little too much stress today. My name is Daniel by the way, what’s yours? And for that matter what are you?"
"Oh, uh, well my name is Twilight. This is Applejack, her brother Big Mac, and their grandpony Granny Smith." She replied as she pointed to the other ponies in the room. "As for what I am, I am an alicorn pony. Don't you have ponies where you are from? Come to think of it I have never seen creatures like you before, where are you from. Oh, I wish spike was here already, I need to send a letter to the princess about this." As twilight was beginning to worry, Applejack came forward to talk to Daniel.
"Y'all better not be thanking of causing trouble round here. If you are I'm going to have to ask y'all to leave."
Daniel shook his head; "No, we are explorers. We came to this planet to learn about the people and culture here, right Jack?" Jack just gave a thumbs up from where he was over by Carter. "See, no worries." Turning to Twilight he asked; "what exactly is an alicorn? We don't have them on our planet; with your horn I would have guessed that you were a unicorn." In response to that Twilight unfolded here wings to show that she had both them and a horn. "Oh, well that explains that."
Twilight replaying their conversation in her mind latched onto a thought that didn't make sense. "Wait, you said this planet; does that mean that you are from a different one." Seeing their nods, she gets a confused look on her face. "But how, I didn't see a ship land?"
Jack chooses this moment to enter the conversation; "that would be because we didn't come by ship. We came here through the Stargate in that old castle, in that forest right out there."
"The ancient castle of the royal pony sisters? But we explored all over that place not too long ago, and we never saw anything. What does this Stargate look like?"
Daniel picked up the question; "it was in one of the rooms’ way down at the bottom of the castle. It took us a while to get to the main hall. And well, a Stargate is a large stone ring that was placed here many thousands of years ago. By an ancient race that explored the entire galaxy. It allows for instantaneous travel between two active gates on different planets." The apple family along with Jack seemed to get a glaze in their eyes as this was explained. Twilight on the other hand look to have understood it all.
"Twilight! Why did you run off like that? What’s going on, and what are they?" Yelled Spike as he and Apple Bloom came in the door. Apple Bloom just got wide eyes as she look at SG-1, before she trotted over to hide behind Big Mac.
When the little purple and green dragon came through the door the members of SG-1 got another surprise for the day. "A real dragon, I never expected to see one outside drawings from mythology." Daniel mumbled to himself.
"Well this is all fun and good, but we need to head back to the gate and call home to check in." Jack stated as he stood up, Teal'c following his lead.
Hearing this twilight got sad thinking her new sources of interesting knowledge were leaving so soon. "Can't you stay? You haven't even seen all of Ponyville, plus I'm sure the princess would like to meet you."
"Jack, we don't need all of us to go to the gate. Why don't you and Teal'c go check in, I can go into town and look around." Daniel suggested, hoping to see more of this strange world.
"Hey, if y'all are going to the castle ruins, can I tag along?" Apple jack asked. "I've been there before, and I can lead y'all back so y'all don't get lost."
"That's a great idea Applejack; just make sure to watch out for the timber wolves." Twilight said, agreeing with her friend.
"Are these timber wolves made up out of sticks and logs?" Jack asked, seeing their nods he smiles. "Don't worry we ran into a couple on the way here. They gave us a little trouble, but nothing we couldn't handle." Turning to Daniel, "Fine Daniel, you go be a geek and look around to your hearts content. See if you can figure out if this was an Ancient outpost or not. Check in every half hour, Carter you coming with us?" Seeing her nod he turns to the rest of the room, and claps his hands together. "Okay everyone, let’s move out."

As the members of SG-1, minus Daniel, walked down the path in the woods back to the castle. O’Neill looked down at his side where the small orange pony was trotting. "So, is everyone around here a pony, or are there other animals wandering around somewhere?"
Applejack looked up to the tall creature, a human she reminded herself, as she thought about the question. "Most of us are pony folk, but there are Griffons and Dragons to the north. If you want I could take you to meet Zecora on the way to the castle. She's a Zebra that lives out here in the forest."
"I was under the impression that this forest was dangerous for your kind?" questioned Teal’C, "Why would one of you deliberately live out here if that is the case?"
“Well Zecora likes to keep to herself. She knows how to keep an eye out for danger, so she stays away from the bigger dangers. Plus all of the herbs and plants she uses in her potions grow out here. Strangely enough not to long ago there were rumors going around that made here out to be as bad as some of the monsters.”
“What kind of rumors would those be?” Teal’C asked as Applejack walked over to him.
“You see, Zecora is the first zebra we’ve seen in these here parts. And well, some of the ponies around here can be slightly superstitious of things they don’t know. Then from there they just grew out of hoof.” Carter just raised an eyebrow and shook her head at the expression. “It was actually Apple bloom that made friends with Zecora first, and the rest of us came around after that.”
“I see, and now you’re all one big happy family now are you.” Jack asked with a smirk on his face. “Sounds like a nice place to be, friends all around.” As they continued down the path towards the castle, stories were told of various misadventures they had gotten into.
When they got to the castle they went into a back hall that lead down to the gate. “Huh, that’s strange I think we missed this hall when we came exploring the other week. So your strange device that takes ponies to other worlds is down in the basement. Seems to me like a strange place to put it.” Applejack remarked as she followed SG-1 into the gate room. When she entered the room a gasp of amazement escaped her lips at the sight. Well I’ll be that certainly is a strange thing, how does it work?”
“Careful with that question, you might get more than you bargained for in an explanation.” Jack grinned as he looked over to carter standing next to the DHD.
“Well you see, this device I’m standing at is what we call a Dial Home Device. What this does is allow us to input coordinates of different gates spread throughout the galaxy. Then once a connection is established a wormhole will open up in the gate over there, connecting to another on the receiving end. When they connect it allows near instantaneous travel between them no matter the distance. This is how we manage to travel to other planets and explore.” With that she pushed the red orb in the center to make the connection. As the gate came alive, Applejack gave another gasp “what in Celsetia’s name.”
Jack reached up to his radio, “General we’ve made contact with the locals. You’re not going to believe what they are though.”
The Generals voice came back over the radio. “Just what am I not going to believe about these locals Colonel?”
”Hey Applejack can you come up here and say hi to our boss.” Jack said as he waved her forward towards the MALP camera.
“Your boss is a big metal box?” She asked as she came up to stand next to Carter in front of the MALP.
“No, the General is back on our home planet. This device allows us to communicate with him via the Stargate. Here come stand in front of this,” Carter said pointing to the camera. “This camera will let the general see you.”
“Uh, hi y’all. I’m Applejack, how ya doing. I’m from Sweet Apple Acres outside of Ponyville here.”
‘Colonel, what kind of joke is this? You expect me to think that is one of the locals? I we heard here was various horse noises’ Hammond’s voice came back over the radio.
“Sir? We heard English come from her mouth. I don’t know why you can’t hear it.” Jack with a confused look on his face looked over to Carter for help.
“Sir, it may have something to do with that translation spell that was cast.” Carter replied, a look of distaste crossed her face at the word spell. “Mabey because it wasn’t cast on the General he can’t understand, but since he is speaking English Applejack can still understand.”
“So that means we have to play translator until another solution is found?” Seeing her nod, he sighs. “Well great, ok General what she said is. That her name is Applejack and she is from an apple farm outside that local town. All of the locals here seems to be of the same type of ‘people’, they call themselves ponies. Daniel stayed behind to try and figure out a more permanent solution to our language problem.”
Hammond’s voice came back over the radio. ‘Well, that does seem interesting colonel. Sounds like you will have quite the report to file when you get back. Report anything of importance in thirty hours, SGC out.’
“I’ll write soon general,” Jack said with a wave. With that the gate disconnected plunging the room into the darkness of just the flash lights.
“Well looks like we get to stick around for a while, Carter looks like you will have all the time you need to study these impossibilities. Let’s go and see what kind of trouble Daniel got himself into by now.” Putting action to words O’Neill headed for the stairs back up.

After the rest of SG-1 left the house, Twilight turned to Spike. “Spike take a message. Dear Princess Celestia, I write to inform you that we have visitors here in Ponyville. The likes which I have never seen before. It is my recommendation that you and Princess Luna come down to Ponyville post haste. Please bring with you any records you have on various magical artifacts that you had in your old castle. It seems that one of them is the cause of their arrival.” Seeing Spike finish it up, and send it on its way via magic fire. Twilight turned to Daniel, “now that’s taken care of. We should recive a response soon, in the meantime how about a tour of Ponyville. Granny Smith if it’s alright with you I will take Daniel here into town?” Getting a nod in reply, Twilight turns to head out the door with a “follow me,” called over her shoulder.
“Well, it’s been nice meeting you, thanks for the tea.” With a wave Daniel Followed twilight out the door. As he walked beside her he finally noticed just how small she was. Twilight’s shoulders only came up to about his stomach. Thinking about it he realized that it if it were just these ponies here it would explain the low doors back at the farm house. “So Twilight, is everyone around here a pony like you, or are there other creatures to?”
“In this area just about everypony is indeed a pony, we do have a few exceptions. Cranky and Matilda are donkeys, while Zecora is a zebra. We are a rather rural area within Equestria so there are not many other races here. If you were to go to some of the bigger cities like Canterlot or Manehatten, you will come across others like griffons, zebras, and even a few dragons. Though dragons are not very common outside their own lands. There are of ofcourse other creatures that are not sentient like us. I believe you may have come across some timber wolves coming out of the forest, correct?” Seeing Daniel nod she continues. “They would be your lesser creatures, if you would. Not sentient but still have their own way of doing things.”
Before twilight could get any further, a voice breaks through the still air. “Twilight!!” Looking up Daniel saw a sky blue Pegasus flying fast towards them. “Twilight, are you ok? What’s going on? I saw Spike and Apple bloom running through the town. What’s standing next to you?” Rainbow Dash finally runs out of steam when she catches sight of Daniel.
“Rainbow Dash this is Daniel Jackson, Daniel this is Rainbow Dash. Rainbow, Daniel and his friends are from a different planet. They came here through a device that was in the old castle.”
“A pleasure to meet you Rainbow Dash, how are you today?” Daniel said with a smile.
“Uh, Twilight when did you learn to speak gibberish? Was it in one of your books ‘The Art of Speaking Gibberish.’” Rainbow said with a grin, “but seriously what did he say?”
“You can’t understand him? That’s strange, the translation spell should have fixed that.” As twilight tried to figure out what went wrong, Rainbow walked over to Daniel.
“So, sounds like you can understand me, is this true?” Seeing him nod she smiles, “ok then. You aren’t going to cause any trouble for my friend here are you?” When Daniel shakes his head no, Rainbow holds up her hoof. “Great that means we can be friends then.”
“I got it!” Twilight calls out suddenly. Startling Daniel and Rainbow from their shake. “The spell only works on the ponies that were present at the casting. Since Daniel and his friends were there they now understand Equestrian, but you Rainbow weren’t. So you can’t understand him. I will need to find a better spell to use, it will be a pain to cast this over and over again. Mabey the Princesses will have something better when they get here.”
As Daniel stands back up he turns to Twilight. “So for the moment will you act as translator for us until a better solution is found. Could you tell Rainbow Dash that I am pleased to make her acquaintance. In that case I suggest that we continue to head towards your library.” As that now larger group started heading back into town, Daniel started to ask questions of Rainbow Dash. “So Rainbow Dash what is it that you do here?”
When that question was translated through Twilight, Rainbow puffed up with pride. “I am the captain of the local weather team, the youngest captain I might add.”
“Captain of the weather team, what’s that? Do you watch the weather, and predict what’s to come?” Asked Daniel with a confused look on his face.
“No we control the weather, make sure it stays on schedule. Why would we need to predict what happens, we just change it how we like. Don’t you have similar teams on your world?”
“No we don’t have a way to control the weather. I didn’t think anyone could control the weather like you are talking about. Could you show me an example of how you do it?”
“Sure just a moment,” with that Rainbow Dash flew up into the sky to one of the nearby clouds. When she got up to it, she grabbed it with her hooves and pushed it back down to the ground. “This is how it works, we can move and control the clouds. We have schedules for when the rain comes and when it is to be sunny. It allows for better crop production from what I’ve been told. Through we do have to be careful because the weather from the Everfree Forest is wild and sometimes wanders into Ponyville. When that happens we have to chase it back into the forest.”
As Rainbow Dash explained why they control the weather. Daniel put his hand up to the cloud to see if he could touch it. When his hand passed through it he sighed and looked at Rainbow. “Well it seems that I can’t touch these clouds any more than I can back on Earth. A shame really it would have been interesting to push clouds around like you can.”
By this time they had reached the outskirts of the town proper as more buildings came into view. The town had an almost medieval feel to it with lots of thatched roof houses and dirt paths everywhere. When they stepped onto the street the few ponies that were out turned to look at the strange creature that was Twilight and Rainbow Dash.
Twilight stepped forward, “Everypony this is Daniel Jackson. He and his friends came here from beyond the Everfree Forest, please be kind to him.” After she said this the ponies turned back to what they were doing. “Wow I didn’t think that would work, but then again it is Ponyville so they are used to strange things showing up in town. Come on let’s go to the library and wait for the princesses to reply.”
“I would like to go with but I need to report for duty soon, so I’m going to have to leave you ponies here.” With that Rainbow Dash flew off into the clouds.
“Sam and Jack are going to be jealous of her, I just know it.” Seeing Twilight looking at him in confusion he explained. “On our planet we have our own version of Pegasus’s you could say. We have large machines that allow a man to fly, and they both pilot them. The ease in which she can fly puts some of our planes to shame.” With a look of understanding on her face she turned to head for her home. With a look of wonder Daniel followed her through town, “This is amazing how you could build all of this without the use of hands.”
“Well considering that we didn’t even know what hands were before you came, I don’t see anything wrong with it. Earth pony strength, with Pegasus flight and mobility, and Unicorn magic allow us to do anything that we can imagine. Well here we are welcome to Golden Oaks library, my home.” With a burst of magic she pulled open the door to the tree. Inside was a small room with bookshelves on all of the walls, in the center of the room was a round table with a horse head sculpture on it.
“Wow what a nice library, it has got a sort of homey feel to it.” Daniel ducked through the door and walker over to one of the bookshelves. Picking out a book at random he opened it, and glanced inside to just see scribbles in a language that he couldn’t read. “Well it was too much to hope that your spell would let me read to. Guess I will just have to learn it the hard way if I want to read something.” With a sigh he put the book back on the shelf. Seeing that there were no chairs around Daniel sat down on the floor with his back against a shelf. “So tell me Twilight, Just what is the difference between the three different types of ponies. Besides the obvious I mean.”
“Well like you said the obvious differences is physical. Earth ponies are generally of a larger and stockier build. Pegasus’s have their wings and are of a lighter build, and Unicorns have their horns. Now it’s the magic that each race wields that is the big difference between them.”
“Wait I thought that just the Unicorns had magic?” Daniel asked in confusion.
“Unicorns do have the most visible and versatile use of magic, but the other two have their own brand of magic. The Pegasus’s are the ones that can manipulate the clouds and weather, their magic is why they can. It makes the clouds solid for them, it even allows them to plant a seed of weather in them I guess you could say. That is how they are able to make the rain happen when they want, unfortunately I don’t know the specifics of how they do that. You would have to go up the weather factory in Cloudsdale to learn more.”
“Wait, wait. You mean that you have a factory that makes the weather you want. And it’s in a city in the clouds? Carter is going to have a fit with this one.” With a shake of his head he leaned back against the shelf. “Imagine being able to order up a rainstorm for your crops or a sunny day for a picnic. If someone back home could figure this out back home they would be rich.”
“It is quite nice, but you just can’t get what weather you want. There is a schedule that is approved by the weather council of Equestria. This way the best weather is maintained around the land for everypony. Now their magic even can allow them to control the winds to some extent, this allows them to help direct the clouds where they want. There is an old filly tale about a Pegasus that could summon the winds to his beck and call.
Now Earth ponies, there magic is a little harder to pin down. They have greater strength, and have a connection to the planet that can allow them to grow most anything they want. My friend Pinky Pie’s family are actually rock farmers.”
“Rock farmers? How does one grow rocks?”
“I don’t think its normal rocks, they grow some of the best jewels and gems in the area. Another thing is that there are some ponies that have such a strong connection to the ground that they can become immovable by almost any force, or even move it to how they want.
Now Unicorn magic is very versatile and almost all Unicorns can use it to levitate objects that they wish to use. However, the extent that they can use is depends on their talent. Most can only use the higher functions of their magic in conjunction with their talent.”
“How about you? You don’t seem to have any trouble with magic.”
“Well my talent happens to be magic, so with enough practice I can do most spells.”
Before any more could be discussed Spike came back down stairs. “Twilight you got a return letter!” Handing the scroll over Twilight read.
“It seems that there might be an artifact in the archive that can help with communication, so they are sending some down with it. She and Luna will be by later today after court is over. So I guess all we have to do is wait for them to come.” Twilight said with a smile on her face.
“Good to know,” reaching for his radio he call O’Neill. “Jack this is Daniel, it seems Twilight got a reply from her princess. She will be down later today, you should make your way back into town soon so you can be here before she arrives.”
‘Roger that Daniel, we will head back soon Applejack wanted to take us to a friend out here in the forest first.’ Jacks voice came back over the radio
“Well now that that is taken care of where were we?” Daniel said as he turned back to Twilight.

As the group climbed back out of the basement and into the throne room, Applejack turned to the others. “If’n ya’ll sticking around for a while, how about I introduce ya to Zecora.”
“Who is this Zecora?” Teal’c asked.
“She’s the one I told ya bout. Lives out here in the forest all by her lonesome. I’m sure she would like the company.”
“Well we’ve got nothing to do for now, so lead on.” At that Jack waved his hand toward the door. “You said this Zecora mixed potions from the local herbs, what is she some kind of witch doctor?” As he chuckled Sam just shook her head in exasperation.
“Now that you mention it ya she is. Don’t worry as long as you stay out of the poison joke you will be fine.”
They had walked for a while when Daniel came over the radio. ‘Jack this is Daniel, it seems Twilight got a reply from her princess. She will be down later today, you should make your way back into town soon so you can be here before she arrives.’
Grabbing his radio O’Neill sent back. “Roger that Daniel, we will head back soon Applejack wanted to take us to a friend out here in the forest first.” Turning to Applejack he asked, “Are we close to where she lives? We will have to head back into town soon.”
“She’s just around the next bend in tha road.” As they came around the last tree they came into a small clearing that had a wood hut that was built into the trunk of a tree. It had big tiki masks around it, all in all it had the look and feel of a witch doctor to it. “Zecora are ya in? I brought some new friends for you to meet.”
At the call the front door opened up and a zebra walked out, she had large gold rings on one hoof and around her neck. “My eyes do not deceive, strange new creatures I see. Tell me Applejack, who you brought to my shack.”
“Well Zecora, this here is Colonel O’Neill, Captain Carter, and Teal’c. They are humans from a different planet, they came here through a ring found in the castle ruins basement.” As she called out their name each member of SG-1 waved their hand.
“Humans a strange name, but be welcome here all the same. My name is Zecora, what brings you to Equestria?” She waved them into her hut, “sit here you three, I will get you some tea.”
“We would love to Zecora, but we have to get back into town. Daniel says that a princess is coming to talk with us. So we have to be back before she arrives.” Carter said as she looked around the hut.
“Celestia you must mean, I will accompany you to the scene. Talk with her I must, things have been happening in the forest.”
“All right then, Applejack take us back into town to meet the princess.” Jack said with a grin, as they started away from the hut.
