The Great Serpent
Fluttershy and the Serpent.
Previous ChapterNext ChapterFluttershy gulped with fear as the giant creature looked at her. It didn't move. It just stared at her. Slowly, it leaned up until it stood tall over the trees. The sun reflecting off it's pale skin. It continued to look down at Fluttershy. Fluttershy whimpered. It began to slither towards her. She closed her eyes and curled into a ball. She felt something gently grab her and raise her up. She knew this was the end. She was going to be eaten. And no one will even know where she had gone.
She broke down sobbing. "Please don't hurt me." she begged. She didn't want to die. Not like this. "Please, please, please, please, please." she continued to beg. After a few minutes, she stopped crying.
She realized she was standing on something soft. She looked down and saw that she was in a massive palm. She looked straight ahead and saw the chest of the creature. Raising and lowering as it breathed. "Fos drun hi het?" Her eyes widened. She slowly looked up to see the creature's face. Her eyes widened. Had the creature just spoke? There was no way.
"Fos drun hi kotin dii deylok mal Pegasus?" Fluttershy gawked as the giant creature spoke to her in a language she could no translate. It sounded so ancient. "Los bo wah reyzan nahlon?" it spoke again. It's voice was feminine, yet baritone. Fluttershy gulped. It was speaking to her. She knew she had to talk to it. She had to. She didn't want to be mean. And besides. She wasn't in a position where she can't leave. She sighed before speaking.
"A-a-are you g-g-going t-to hurt m-me?" she asked.
The creature shook it's head. Or her head. "Nid." was all she said. "Druv los hi tir het?" it asked. Fluttershy didn't know what she was saying.
Fluttershy was upset she couldn't understand what the creature was saying. "I'm sorry." she said. "I-I-I don't know what you are saying." she said sadly. The creature's eyes widened a little. And looked like it was pitying her. It sighed before it pointed with her other arm in a direction and pointed to her. "Fos." she said. "Los." she continued before pointing at her. "Hi." and waved around her. "Het?" she said.
For a few minutes Fluttershy was deciphering what she was saying to her. Finally she looked up at her. "A-are y-you asking what I am doing here?" she asked. The creature nodded.
"Geh." she said to her. It probably meant yes. Fluttershy gulped before speaking. "Well." she was surprised on how she wasn't stuttering right now. "You saved me last night from the bear, remember?" she looked up. The creature nodded. "I just w-wanted to t-thank you for saving me." she said looking down with a blush.
"Nii los flogah." it responded. Probably saying okay. Fluttershy looked down before up. "What's your name?"
The creature took in a deep breath. "Jor." Fluttershy was surprised. It's name didn't sound Equestrian. It sounded older than modern Equestrian language. She then pointed to her.
"Fos los hin faan?" It must be asking her name. Fluttershy looked down and muttered her name. "Fos?" it asked. Fluttershy muttered her name a little louder. "Fos?" the creature asked. Fluttershy finally spoke her name loudly.
"My name is Fluttershy." she said. Jor leaned her head to the side. It almost looked adorable.
"Fluttershy?" she asked. The Pegasus nodded. Jor nodded as well.
Fluttershy stumbled as she was lowered to the ground. Once she was close enough, she jumped onto the ground and looked up to see Jor looking at her. She pointed towards where she came from. Fluttershy realized she was telling her to go home. "O-okay." she said. She was about to walk out from Jor's sight before she turned and smiled a little. "And again, thank you for saving me." she said. Jor nodded. Fluttershy proceeded to fly back to the cottage. As soon as she got there. She saw that no one was there. "Thank Celestia." she thought.
She quickly flew to the door and looked around before opening it and going inside. Once inside, she saw Angel looking at her. "It's okay Angel. It turns out that the creature is very friendly." she said. Angel raised an eyebrow. Fluttershy walked up the stairs and to her room. To the left she saw a big quilt hung on the wall. She trotted over to it, and pulled it down. Angel watched bemusedly as Fluttershy grabbed a pencil. She then began to sketch Jor onto her wall. Drawing a front, back, and side view of her. It was hardest to sketch a side view as she didn't want it to be big enough so that when she hides it behind the quilt, it wouldn't be peaking out from behind it.
At the left to each sketch, she sketched herself and Angel in comparison to Jor's height. Normally, studying and drawing anatomy's was something that Twilight did. But Fluttershy knew a few lessons. Within half an hour. She had sketched a very accurate anatomic view of Jor. But then she realized something again. She didn't ask Jor if she was the last of her kind. Though she really didn't want to know if there was more. But she would have to ask her that tomorrow. "Angel." Fluttershy turned to Angel with a serious frown.
"I am normally not so serious, but in this situation, I am." she said. Angel realized that Fluttershy was not joking. "You are NOT to tell anyone about this creature." she said. Angel looked at her confused. This was something that the entire gang has to know. But he still wasn't convinced. "Okay." Fluttershy said. "What do you think could happen if they see Jor without asking me first?" she asked. Angel thought. He really didn't want that "Jor" thing out there. He was also skeptical that it was friendly.
"I am serious." Fluttershy stomped her hoof. Causing Angel to flinch. "You will not tell anyone or else you will be eating celery for the rest of your life. Which means no more carrots." she threatened. Fluttershy hated resorting to threats. But this has to remain a secret. Angel nodded. He was not going to lose the privilege of eating carrots. "You will also not tell anyone of this drawing." Fluttershy pointed towards the sketch before walking to it and covering it back up with the quilt. She sighed before turning to him. "Angel, please." she said. "No one can find out about this. Imagine if anypony found out about her?" she asked.
Angel thought. He realized what Fluttershy meant. Ponies can tend to act irrationally at times. And if they spot "Jor" as Fluttershy calls the creature, the results might not end well. But it made him wonder how such small creatures could harm someone as big as Jor. Finally he nodded. Fluttershy beamed and hugged him. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." she said to the suffocating rabbit. Fluttershy realized this and put him down. "Sorry." she said. Angel sighed but then looked at her with a serious expression. Fluttershy knew what Angel was trying to say.
"I know I will have to tell my friends eventually. But for now. This really needs to be kept secret." she said. "So for now. This is between just us, understand Angel?" she asked. Angel nodded.
Meanwhile, far into the Everfree Forest, Jor was resting on her back. She couldn't keep stop thinking about the Pegasus she saved. Who had also come today to speak with her. She was impressed by the Pegasus's bravery. Every pony she has come across has ran away from her in fear. But the Pegasus, showed no fear. Well at first she was. She completely understood why the little Pegasus was so scared. It isn't everyday someone sees a creature such as her.
