Chapters Equestrian civil war.

The sargent's lead thare men into possition. "Second and fourth squadren, you will be joining the main assault. Wait for the bomber wings to move in, before making you're atatck." The troops rushed int possition, Shells now racing above the top of the trenches. "unicorn platoon, Split into two smaller units, And provide firing support from the east and west" A large group of pegisi Swarmed overhead. Each was carrying large cylider shaped object, containing a unstable, and highly potent explosive.
The sound of distant explosions raged in the distance raged for thirty seconds. The generall Shouted "For the Luna Republic!" And blew furiously on his cilver poket whistle. two thousand troops in navy blue uniforms, with the cresant moon embroyded on thare sholders Charged forward at amazing speed. Lazers flew over the war torn battlefeild. Ponys everware falling onto the ground, dead. Limbs dismembered by roge landmines. People dieing all around me.
But I was a solidier of the new luna republic. The finest fighting force in all of equestria. I would do my job, and do it proudly. Make sure the sacrefices made here today wern't in vain.
This war had being raging for a long time, but Equestria wasn't allways such a violent place to live. It was once a pecefull and stable place. The luna republic broke off from equestria 15 years ago, because, Thare was two much land for the three sisters to mannage.
The eastern provence would be run by Luna, the southern by Celestia, and the northen provence, by Candence. HHowever, the three nations continued to expand. Farming land was seriously deminished in the southern provence, and the other sisters refused to help, Because they had to look after thare own subjects first. Celestia orded an attack on the eastern and northen countrys three days later, this war broke out.
This terrible war. The war that has bruatly massicared ponys by the thousands. The war that has claimed the lives of over two million ponys. The celestian empire is evil, and muyst be destroyed. For the good of equestria.
"Private!" I heared the coperals voice echoing over all the crossfire. "We need a way through this wall NOW!"
"Yes sir!" I shouted. I set up the explosive around the main gate, and detinated, Causing an explosion that could be heared from the royal palices. of the original two thousand who left the trench, three hundred Mares and colts were dead. six hundred mortally wounded.
We charged into the main square of what was left of the ruind city. Colts, Mares and Fillys all lined up against the walls, publicly exicuted. These were the attrocitys commited by the Celestian empire.
Firce hoof- to hoof fighting occured in what was left of the ruined streets and allyways.
I rolled out of the way of one hoof stomp. He lunged at me for the headbut. I quickly dashed to the right. I gave him a Strong buck to the back of his knees, And stpmed on his head, Snapping the Scumbags neck instantly. i drew my knife, and stabed it into the underside of another colt, galling hime, blood and guts spilling over the courtyard. Two more came up from my flank, i knew I could take them both. From no whare, the corprall Speared one on his horn, before giving the other mare a swift kick across the throught, severing hwr windpipe.
We looked around to see the last of the enemy troops dieing or dead. These scumbags sisn't deserve mercy. This was too good a death for them.
But, the battle was over. The fiew solidiers that were left saluted the raising of the flag. W had retaken mainhatten. But at what cost?
And how long would the victory last?...
It was 05:30, on the first day after the battle was won. The buggle sounded, and all the troops Imidatly prepared for the day, and returned to thare posts. All exept me. I was orded to the generals tent. I steped inside. "Sir!" i shouted, snaping to a salute.
He saluted me back. "At ease, Private" He paused for a second and said "or should I say at ease Corpral."
"Sir?" I asked, a look of confusion on my face.
"Congratulations, I'm hereby feild premoting you to corperal. Congratulations." He slid a small, brown enverlope across the table. I opened it. Inside the package was a webbing system, with a space for a firearm next to the right hind leg, And a prestine revolver, Shining in the glorious moonlight.
"And now, here comes the bad news" I thought to myself.
The general said to me in a calm, but allmost dissapointed voice. "You're being transfered to the Ponyvill baracks, whare you'll take comand of echo squadren."
"When do I leave?"
"At sunrise." I went to leve the tent. "Oh, and corperal."
"Sir?" I asked.
"Be carefull, You know how those border raids are."
Ponyvill sat right on the border of the three countries. It was once a neturall terratory, whare soldiers of all factions could Drink and be merry, and not concern themselves about the war. Then the celestians attacked. They were savage, brutal and bloodthirsty. Thay quickly took controll of the applefeilds. The battle to reclaim it wasxz even more bloody. Many people lost limbs, as artillary shells rained down. Even more got killed in the brutal hoof to hoof fighting that took place there.
And now, That's whare I was asined. three years ago, a place of no military importance, now? the most important target in the aria. The food reserves were a desperatly needed resource. And celestia was ready to sacrefice thousends upon thousands of men to retake the village. She'd proven this time and time again.
I hopped on the train, and looked back at my commerads I'd be leaving behind. The train chugged off, slowly, as I staired back, and waved at my former squadren and Co's.I placed my hat on the table, and waited for the long train journy to end.
When i arrived at the station, Thare were a small group of about eight ponys waiting for me. The leader of the group looked at me, and saluted. "Corperal!" The rest of the squadren snapped back to attention.
I looked at this troops chevrons, and saluted back.
"Lance coperal!" I said in a more friendly tone.
The soildier said "Sir, can we spare the pleasentrys and get strait down to the bottom line?" i nooded.
"The Celestians have a vantage point up on that ridge." He pulled out a map, and pointed to various targets and places of interest. "Thay have ammo depos here and here, A fule depo here, and troop barracks here, here, and here." He placed the map back into his bag.
A colt, with a scar across one of his eye's approched me. He had a cap on his head, that cleary demestraited he was the commanding officer. "Sir!" me and the rest of the squadren snapped to attenetion.
"At ease squad!" He said in a booming voice, of authority. "We finally got the go ahead. At dusk tonight, Alpha and delta squadrens will attack from the east, You'll take echo, and join foxtrot squadren from the west." He signled for us to follow him.
The entire squadren went into a large tent that served as a breifing room. he went over the entire plan in only a fiew minuts. "Any questions?"
"No Sir!" the entire platoon stated.
"You are dissmissed."
Everypony in the room got up and left.
I went outside, and led the squadren to whare we would begin out assault from. Dusk wasn't for about another hour. We all sat, in what was left of the inn. The squad all sat together, playing one big game of poker. i sat in the corner, stairing into the picture on the heart shaped locked, that hung around my neck. A tear ran down my cheak, but I batted it away.The Clock stroke 10. The assault began...
Explosions raged all around ponyvill. Service clots and mares were killed allongside civilians. But, This massecre, the main assault was just a diversion.
For, echo squadren had a secreate assinment. Thare mission was to sneak into the compound undetected, and sabatge the fule and amunition depos. And thats ,mostly, what they were planning on doing.
Even in a battle situation, the Celestian empire was known for is seriousness on securaty. Getting in quiatly wouldn't be easy. But then, whares the fun in that?
"Private!" I shouted to be heared over the sound of pony's screaming, because of srapnel wounds. "Set up the C2 on that wall over thare, Everypony elce, grab you're rifles and dig-in, This'll get messy!"
The squadren hunkered down, as The private set up the explosives on the wall. I nodded at him. He pressed down on the plunger. The wall exploded, killing the soldier above the spot on the wall, and two more behind it.
Immidiatly, a large number of reinforcements Ran towards the spot in the wall. We waited for two to come out and serch for us. I drew my revolver. "open fire!" I shouted. Without hesetation, the entire squadren emerged from tha're hideing places, takeing the patroll by supprise.
Allmost in unison, The my squad Discharged the're wepons. Bullets ripped throught the sholders and chests of the Vermin. Thay died, screeming in agony, like the little cowerds thay were. Without a moment of hesitation, we rushed through the wall.
"lance corperall. You take those two, and attack the western ammo dump." Without hessitation, he signled for them to folow, and headed west, deeper into the belly of the beast.
"Private, you take those three, and attack the centerall fule depo."He also rushed off, without a seconed thought. These were the bravest, and most loyal soldiers I ever thought with, I was honnored to fight in this squad.
"Private, you're with me, Well attack the eastern ammo supplys." We rushed eastward, manging to sneek past most of the celestians. those vermin were two destracted by the rest of the ponys.
I managed to jump one of them. I slit his throught, without even giving him the chance to responed, and took his rifle. I signled for the private to stop.
My men were pinned down by a vastly suppirior force. thay were helpless. Imidiatly, without me even ordering him to, The private began picking off the enamy renforcements. I'd never seen quite a markspony. I left him there, to continue supporting the squadren, and continued on, towards the ammo depo. solo.
The depo was unguarded. Not to my supprise. We were reeking havok all over the complex. I saw alpha and delta squadrens breaking in through the northen wall. A perfect distraction.
I galloped towards the ammo depo, and planted my explosives. I was about to detonate, when i was stopped by a farmiliar face.
She was waring the white coat of a celestian soldier, with the golden webbing. She was slightly taller than me. She was aliecorn in race, and had a teal colour to her coat. Her mane was also a teal colour, with gray streaks.
She was my childhood friend. "Thunder!" I shouted, in supprise. but, she was in no ,mood for talking.
She charged at me with a mighty lunge. I tryed to dodge, but she cought my left forleg, makeing a large gash in it. She turned around. By this point, I had pulled out my revolver,and aimed it at her head. "I don't want to do this Thunder." But you could see the primal rage in her eyes. She lunged at me again. I managed to dodge this one, but She had snagged my locket. The golden heart fell to the ground. it poped open, with the picture facing upwards.
Thunder was facing directly at the locket. The rage dissapeared from her face, as she saw he locket. And a picture of herself. A tear appeared in her eyes. She took off, and flew away from the battlefeild, withiut saying a word.
I grabed the locket, And finished planting the explosives. By this point, everpon's attention were on the alpha and delta squadrens. I signled for my men to make a hasty retreat. They sliped away, undetected by the celestian troops.
"please tell me thouse charges wern't duds!" the lance corperal said, a sence of panic im his voice.
BOOM! A violent explosion, of the like's you've never seen befro lit up the sky. The guns stopped firing. The smoke cleared. Ponys lay sprawled across in all directions. Singed and dismembered all across the what was left o the base. This was a great victory for the republic. But it came at a hefty cost. fore, among the dead, was the entiraty of aplha and delta squads. They Died a heros death.
But was it a necessary one?...
