King Sombra swore loudly as he paced back and forth in his throne room.
“The changelings have meddled with my affairs once too often! We need Queen Chrysalis dealt with as soon as possible.” The angry tyrant blew up a crystal beside his throne with dark magic to vent his rage.
Umbra Night had watched his father become crueler with each day passing. He was unrecognisable now...
He shook his head sadly as he thought about it, the loving father he’d had was now a monster. There were executions of the nobles and peasants nearly every day. It would be only a matter of time before his beloved Moonlight Bunny would be amongst the next death toll.
“Night, my beloved son, I would like you to find Queen Chrysalis and bring her here. All I need is her head to put on a pike.” Sombra said with glee, rubbing his hooves together.
He saw his son turn pale and it peeved him. Why was his son a coward?
“Night, you will bring me her head or you can kiss that peasant girls life goodbye! Shadow Flair has seen you hanging out with an animal care giver of low standing. I have told you time and time again, to stay away from the peasants.”
Umbra Night scowled up at his Father. “Fine, I will do what you ask, just leave Moonlight Bunny alone.”
Night left the throne room, feeling his fathers gaze burning into his back and fled the Empire immediately.
King Sombra saw Night leaving the Empire and smirked. “Shadow Flair, follow my son and make sure that he executes Queen Chrysalis. The rebellion will be nipped in the bud without her leadership.”
The Umbrum guard saluted his King and became a shadow to follow his monarch’s son.
Shadow Flair saw Umbra Night stop by at Moonlight Bunny’s house. He had to admit that the lovers were cute together. He didn’t want to interfere with the young ponies, but he did not wish to incur King Sombra’s wrath.
Soon as his marefriend opened the door, Night started talking quickly.
“Bunny, I have to do the unthinkable. Dad has ordered me to find Queen Chrysalis and do away with her. I don’t want to disobey my Father, but he is leaving me little choice. I would like you to flee the Empire right away, since it’s no longer safe for you to stay here.”
Umbra Night said all this with a heavy heart, nuzzling his mate.
Shadow Flair saw that Moonlight Bunny’s tummy was big and knew that Night’s relationship with the mare was more than just friends as his King suspected. He thought that he would spare Moonlight Bunny, since he didn’t fancy the idea of a pregnant mare being executed.
Moonlight Bunny quickly packed all her things into a saddlebag. It did not take long, since she had very little to begin with.
“I will go to Glimmer Melody’s house, love. Please be careful Night, your Dad is very unstable and such a failure might lead to your own death.”
Bidding her goodbye, Night left with a heavy heart. Then he sensed something trailing him.
Umbra Night left the cottage far behind and stomped a hoof.
“You can come out of hiding, Shadow Flair. I know you have been spying on Moonlight Bunny and I this whole time.”
“Night, you do realize that your father will not hesitate to murder Moonlight Bunny, even though she is with foal. My King has become very cold blooded. He will not spare her if you should happen to betray him.” Shadow said, being very sincere. He genuinely liked this kid...
The two Umbrum left the area and headed towards the mountains. There was a rumour that the changelings inhabited a settlement deep within it. Deep down, Umbra Night knew that he would have to betray his father, since he didn't want to murder his best friend’s mother. She was good to the foals, changelings and also kept the Hives morale up throughout this crazy war.
Shadow Flair could almost feel the tension Night was giving off and shot him a warning look
“If you intend to disobey your Father. I will have no choice but to arrest you.”
“I refuse to go any further Shadow, you want to arrest me for refusal, then go ahead. Many rely on a beacon of hope in this war and that hope is supported by my friend’s mother. Hail to the Queen!” Night said as he lunged at Shadow Flair.
The Prince missed his target however, and was swiftly knocked down by the more experienced Shadow Flair.
“Umbra Night, I hereby arrest you for high treason against his Majesty, King Sombra.”
Umbra Night had no time to defend himself and was quickly knocked out by Shadow Flair. King Sombra’s loyal guard hated to do it, but orders were orders.
He did not detect that there were a couple of changelings watching this unfold and those spies raced back to their hive on the double.
“Queen Chrysalis! Umbra Night was arrested by Shadow Flair.”
“What?” Chrysalis gripped the edge of her chair, it couldn't be...
“The crime in question is protecting you from King Sombra.
Queen Chrysalis shook her head sadly as this sank in.
“As much as it hurts me to say, Night knows the punishment for treason. His Dad will have him executed just for keeping me safe. I will try to save the Prince, but I do not hope for much success”
She turned to her daughter now, who hovered beside her chair.
“Glimmer Melody, you are to take control of the hive. I am going to free the noble Prince before he is executed. To lose him would be a great loss to us, for he has freed many rebels behind his Father’s back and deserves our loyalty.” The Queen said as she put on her armor.
“Mother, don’t do it! King Sombra wants you dead and you showing up will only make things worse. Umbra Night knew the risks when he joined our battle!” Glimmer cried as she watched her Mother get ready to leave.
“Umbra Night took a risk for Moonlight Bunny to be safe. He knew that his betrayal would endanger her. She managed to enter the hive while he was distracting Shadow Flair. As we speak, two of my drones helping her find a room to stay in. She will be our medic during this war.” Queen Chrysalis said softly as she hugged her daughter.
Floating back, she placed the ebony crown on her child’s head. “As of this moment you are Queen.”
“Yes, mother.” Glimmer said tearfully as the changelings bowed and recited their loyalty to her.
Queen Chrysalis and a platoon of her guards left the hive behind and marched steadily in the direction of the Crystal Empire. Watching her vanish into the distance, Glimmer Melody knew deep down that she would never see her mother again. She turned and went back inside the hive…
Chrysalis attacked the Empire directly, the surprise onslaught taking out some of the watch towers. Sadly, the advantage did not last long and her guards were executed in no time as they strove to protect her, and she was captured. She was brought to the throne room.
King Sombra was very pleased to see the Queen had finally been captured.
“I bid thee welcome, Queen Chrysalis. You have stood against me defiantly these last few months, I am impressed. But now, you die. You will be executed immediately, along with one other who declares himself against me. Bring me the traitor!” King Sombra said with extreme venom. “My own son, who would turn against me to serve you so loyally.”
Umbra Night had his teeth bared when he was brought out wearing a yoke and chains.
“Pardon the new taste in fashion. You shall not be wearing it for much longer, however.” The King mocked his former son.
“Buck you!” Umbra Night shouted at his father.
“I am in the mood to execute these two on television. Bring in the slaves who control the cameras." Sombra said with a sadistic grin. “I am positive that this will be the event of the century.”
King Sombra was on the balcony as he saw the traitors being brought out into the open. He made absolutely certain the cameras were filming all this. A scared murmur rippled through the crowds as Queen Chrysalis and Umbra Night were pushed onto the ground.
“Umbra Night and Queen Chrysalis, you have been found guilty of high treason. The penalty, is death!” King Sombra shouted as he read the punishment from a scroll for show.
Sombra locked eyes with Umbra Night and saw a look of absolute fury. He smirked in return.
“It doesn’t have to be this way Father, you can still redeem yourself and surrender!” Night pleaded. As hi father mocked his plea with his cold laughter, Umbra Night made a silent wish that some pony will arrive to help bring an end to this senseless war.
Shadow Flair raised the executioners axe and brought it slashing down on Chrysalis’s neck. The Queen closed her eyes, bravely accepting her fate to the very end.
Umbra Night was a fighter however, managing to nail his father on the shoulder with a single blow before being pushed to the ground by the Umbrum pony guards a second later.
“Tis a pity really, you had the potential to be an excellent ruler. You should have just destroyed the changelings like I ordered.” King Sombra said coldly. The unicorn slammed his iron boot against Umbra Night’s horn, causing it to shatter and grinning at his screams.
Shadow Flair executed the prince immediately, ending his pain and his life. King Sombra was a little disappointed, since he had wanted his son to suffer a little more for his disobedience.
“Burn the bodies!” The monarch shouted to his troops, who nodded silently.
Princess Luna saw everything from within her prison on the moon and sighed sadly, since King Sombra had sunk to a new low. She had heard her son’s wish before his unjust death and made a wish of her own; that some pony would come and free Equestria from the Shadow King.
Moonlight Bunny and Glimmer Melody held each other when the executions occurred. Both had lost some pony special to them, how many more would lose their lives to this senseless war before peace came?
It was one of those days, you know the kind, when you wished you had just stayed in bed? Umbra Night woke up to one of those very days with a migraine and groaned. He was going to work on a project with Glimmer Melody and Moonlight Bunny at the Friendship Castle today.
He showered and headed over, wondering what they had cooked up?
It turned out it was about a mirror, they said it would teleport him to another one in a different place. So he agreed and jumped through-
Umbra Night woke up with a migraine and groaned loudly. Where was he? To what realm had he been sent when he leapt through the magic mirror?
He stood up and noticed the wasteland that surrounded him. It spanned for miles, with corrupt crystals draining the life from the once colourful scenery.
“Ugh, where did the darkness send me?” Night all but snorted as he dusted himself off. He needed to get his bearings and get home, so he set off at a trot to find a waypoint.
Umbra Night followed the most travelled area he could find, hoping to stumble across some source of life in this unknown land. As he travelled northward, the devastation became even worse, not to mention cold.
He tugged his cape closer to his body and shivered. He noticed that the sun did not break the cloud cover high above. As he stumbled on, Night was unaware that his presence was being noticed by a cloaked sentry.
But as the sentry got closer, Umbra Night sensed an unknown power following him and swiftly whirled around to face him. The Umbrum guard was startled when Umbra Night dashed straight at him with two swords, both blazing with dark magic.
Who was this stallion? He looked a lot like King Sombra when he was angry. The Umbrum realised he was outmatched and had no choice but to flee the area.
Umbra Night knew that thing was starving which was not a good sign. He realised his attacker had been an Umbrum, said Umbrum had been trying to feed off his emotions and failed since he too was an Umbrum.
“There is a good chance I will find King Sombra in these lands.” he murmured to himself.
Umbra Night finally found a village that was in total disrepair. It gave him the shivers, since there was no sign of life in the place. He found a sturdy structure and went inside to warm himself up.
He found some canned food and stashed it in his bag, since he would need it sooner or later. He created a dark magic barrier around the home to keep out the cold and rain. He would be alerted if anything tried to break his barrier, thus Umbra Night fell into an uneasy sleep.
King Sombra sat on his throne, brooding sullenly, since nothing seemed to motivate him. He was surprised when one of his Umbrum guards, Shadow Flair, galloped into the throne room in a panic.
“Sire, there is an unknown stallion heading northwards.”
Sombra perked up a bit at that, since that meant something was still lurking out in the war torn lands. His people were starving with a lack of ponies to inflict fear on. Hopefully this stallion would be sufficient food until more could be found.
“Shadow Flair, where was this stallion spotted?” King Sombra asked.
“He is hiding in the mining town not far from your Empire, my lord.”
This really perked King Sombra up. He promptly left the Empire with Shadow Flair and headed in the direction of the decrepit mining town, not far from the Empire. The hostile environment was ideal for causing terror and he took pride in it since he had caused this.
Umbra Night dreamt about his friends as he slept. He soon woke up however, when he heard his spell being breached.
“Well it’s about time something disturbed me. Maybe it’s that Umbrum I saw a few hours earlier?”
Umbra Night was alert as he crept out, then turned pale when he saw the pony responsible for what happened to these lands.
“KING SOMBRA!” He said with a snort, baring his teeth. This was not his gentle sire, this was the nightmare version that history books depicted of him.
King Sombra was not expecting to see such a brave stallion, let alone one that looked sort of like him.
“UMBRA NIGHT!” he shouted in surprise when he heard his son’s voice.
The King shook his head as he glanced at Shadow Flair, “This stallion is a fake. I executed him a few days ago for being a traitor.”
Shadow Flair saw the cold red eyes on Umbra Night and knew this was indeed the Prince.
“How is this even possible? I was the one who beheaded him.”
King Sombra used his dark magic to easily break the barrier protecting Umbra Night.
“Hah, you are a fool if you think that pathetic spell would save you from me. You may have cheated death once, but you will not cheat it a second time!” Sombra bellowed and dashed at his son, his horn pulsing with dark magic.
He reared up and fired a bolt at his son.
Night gave a snort and used his own dark magic to deflect his father’s attack. The bolt bounced away and hit a house, making it collapse completely.
But King Sombra was on him in seconds. The two stallions reared up, decking each other hard. Sombra’s armoured shoe cut into Night’s cheek, but Night only dented the neck plate on his Dad.
The two stallions dashed back a moment to get a breath in.
King Sombra saw Night’s wound heal up as he studied him. This was new, since HIS Umbra Night never showed that kind of magic prowess.
“I am impressed, you took that cuff to the cheek and even managed to heal it with dark magic. You are not my Umbra Night, my traitorous son is dead and soon you will be joining him in Tartarus.”
They leapt for one another again and Umbra Night screamed in agony when Sombra used his shadow scythe on him. Luckily, Night was fast enough that he avoided decapitation. Realising he couldn't take this hateful pony on by himself, Umbra Night poured his magic into pushing Sombra away long enough to get free and gallop out of the area fast while his face smarted and bled. He needed to find a place that would hide him well from King Sombra.
Umbra Night had no idea that help would arrive in the form of a certain Draconequus. Discord, who’d been watching all this from afar, threw a flair in the direction of King Sombra. Just a few seconds were all that would be needed to whisk the Prince to safety.
King Sombra took shadow form and chased after his fake son. He wanted to make sure that this Umbra Night would not become a major thorn in his side like the original. Out of nowhere a blinding force hit and the King screamed in pain as a bright light hit him.
Discord made his move as King Sombra retreated to regain his vision. When he finally came to, the imposter son was long gone.
The King detected chaos magic and snorted since Discord was a major pain in the flank to him. Sombra huffed then galloped back to his Empire to brood some more.
Moonlight Bunny was in a state of shock upon seeing a pony she had thought was dead, being carried in by Discord. She had two changelings help her carry the wounded stallion into her clinic.
“Night, I though you were beheaded on live television.” She said softly as she followed the two workers.
Moonlight Bunny cleaned Night’s wounds and sutured the vertical cut on the right side of his face. The scythe had almost hit the stallions eye, so Night would have a scar in that location.
Glimmer Melody entered the clinic and saw a slumbering Umbra Night laying in the hospital bed.
“Is that Umbra Night? I thought he was murdered in cold blood by his sire?” The changeling asked her best friend.
“Yes, he almost died, when Discord brought him here. He had a massive head injury, caused most likely by Sombra’s weapon. I gave him a blood transfusion and stitched up his deep wound. I am happy to have Night back, even if he is not my stallion.” Moonlight Bunny said with sorrow.
Umbra Night woke up feeling some pony nuzzling him. He looked into Moonlight Bunny’s eyes and was disoriented.
“Bunny, I have had the worst nightmare ever. I dreamt that my father had gone evil and that he attempt to murder me-” Night cut off, noticing Glimmer Melody wearing a crown and was a bit taller. She looked just like a Queen.
“Glimmer, I thought you didn’t want to be a Queen?”
Moonlight Bunny gently placed a hoof on Night’s muzzle to silence him. “That was no dream you had, Night. Your father is an evil tyrant that has brought ruin to our lands.”
Night noticed that his face had a bandage covering his right eye and realized that he had come close to being murdered by his own sire. He found it hard to believe that a gentle King would become that evil.
“How long has King Sombra been evil?” Night dared to ask.
Moonlight Bunny and Glimmer Melody looked at each other. It was obvious that this Umbra Night was definitely not their stallion.
Night watched the look shared between both mares and quirked a brow.
“You certainly are your Father’s son. Sombra was notorious doing that eyebrow quirk around me.” Discord said as he appeared with a chuckle.
Umbra Night was wary now, since Discord was married to King Sombra.
“Why did you help me escape? I thought you were married to my Dad?” the Prince asked cautiously. The last thing he wanted was to peeve off the Lord of Chaos.
“You must have really lost these.” Discord said, handing Night a pouch of marbles. “I am not married to that tyrant.”
Umbra Night sighed in defeat, pulling the blanket covering him up further.
Discord placed a paw on Night’s head and ruffled his hair.
“You are not from this world are you? I have a feeling that your Sombra is nothing like this tyrant. I am also going to guess that there is a Discord in your world that is married to your father. Who is your mother?” Discord asked.
Umbra Night sat up looking hopeful, “My mother is Princess Luna! Can I see her?”
But Discord just shook his head, “Your mother was banished to the Moon by King Sombra and he executed Princess Celestia, who was a major threat to his power. You are the only one of your mother’s line left. Sorry kiddo.”
Back in Night’s own timeline, Princess Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer were frantic. A messed up experiment had sent Umbra Night through a portal to who knew where?
“Ugh, how am I going to tell Sombra that his son is missing? There is no telling where Umbra Night went when he fell through the mirror. He could be anywhere in another time and place.” Twilight was practically hyperventilating.
Discord was with having tea with Fluttershy further inside the palace when he heard Princess Twilight freaking out.
“Hello, you forget that I am Night’s second father! You have some explaining to do.” He said balancing on his tail. Starlight Glimmer patted Twilight Sparkle on the head,
“Good-luck explaining this situation. I have errands to do.” She said, galloping swiftly out of the room.
King Sombra was doing paperwork when he felt a sudden pain in his head. Something big had happened that involved him, somehow.
“What in Equestria is going on?” He said as Discord arrived home earlier than expected.
“Princess Twilight Sparkle told me that Umbra Night fell through the mirror, that said mirror is really a portal to different worlds and that she has no idea how to return him to our world.” Discord said with his arms folded.
King Sombra had to face hoof, Twilight Sparkle messed with the mirror?
“You know, Umbra Night may be in a parallel world where I am a tyrant. Don’t ask me how I know this, my love, it just entered my mind.”
“He shares your power type, its no wonder you're sensing things.” Discord assured him.
“Night is a good stallion, I am sure wherever he went, he is adjusting to the change. I just hope he stays well.” Sombra said as he sat down next to his husband.
Discord hugged his stallion close and nuzzled him, placing a gentle kiss on his lips.
Back in his new realm, Discord watched as Umbra Night got up from the hospital bed.
“I must stop this Sombra from harming any more ponies. The Umbrum where I came from are a race that love crafting with crystal. They shine like the crystal ponies and are good, kind ponies that love their King Sombra. The Umbrum here thrive on hate and fear. Take that food source away and they will be defeated, am I right?” The Prince asked as he paced the room.
“You have wisdom that this Umbra Night lacked, for that lack got him executed by his Father. You stand a good chance at defeating this Sombra. It was the Umbrum that corrupted him in the first place. Lady Umbra convinced your Father that to reign supreme, he had to get rid of all the threats to his rule.
Lady Luna stood up to Umbra and Sombra to try make things right and she was banished for what she believed in. Princess Celestia was next to go, when Sombra executed her to show the world what he was capable of doing. No pony dared to go after him until now.”
Moonlight Bunny watched Umbra Night pace back and forth.
This stallion was every bit like the pony she had married. She rested a hoof on her abdomen. It made her sad that her foal would never get to meet his sire.
Umbra Night stopped pacing and went to Moonlight Bunny.
“Is your foal Umbra Night’s?” he asked and Moonlight Bunny gave a nod, making Umbra Night hug her.
“I will do what I can to make things right for you and his foal.”
“Thank you.” Moonlight Bunny whispered, then gave Umbra Night a kiss before going to lay down.
Discord watched this, slightly teary eyed. He would deny he cried over such mush though.
“Night, you need to be trained if you hope to defeat Sombra. We will go to my Chaos Realm to train, but I will warn you now that I am a harsh task master. What I will put you through will aid you when you return to battle Sombra.”
Night followed Discord into the Chaos Realm and shuddered, since it was very chaotic like his second Father’s realm. He closed his eyes a moment to get rid of the vertigo he was experiencing from the weird place.
Discord tossed two sticks to Night who caught them with his telekinetic grip.
Discord gave him no time to get ready and quickly attacked the Prince with a staff weapon. Night was unable to parry in time and was knocked to the ground.
“Do you think your Father will give you time to get your bearings in battle? He will decimate you for just pausing. You need to develop a sixth sense so you can anticipate my next move.”
Night dashed at Discord while levitating the two practice swords. Again, Discord was ready and knocked Night down a second time.
“Your moves are too predictable.” he scolded.
Night snorted and teleported behind Discord but was met with a staff to the gut. The winded stallion stumbled back a bitand fell.
Umbra Night fell on his back and felt the staff against his throat.
“You’re dead, little Prince.” The Draconequus smirked.
Night managed to distract Discord by creating three shadow versions of himself and scattering. Discord’s arms fell off when Night hit his staff.
“Does your body have to be so literal?” Night yelped.
“You may have disarmed me, but you still have a lot to learn, young grasshopper!” Discord said, looking like a Neighbetan Monk.
Umbra Night groaned at the weird sense of humour Discord had.
“Did anyone ever mention how weird you are?” Night said with a grin.
“I get that message all the time from my friends.” Discord said, having gone back to his normal goofy self.
Night nearly jumped the next second when he felt hands taking his measurements. “What the hay?” he shouted.
“Relax, I am making you some armour to face King Sombra in. This armour is going to be lightweight and take a good beating. It will give you an edge, not to mention make you look dashing while fighting your Father.”
Umbra Night looked at himself in a mirror and had to admit that he looked like his sire in this new armour.
He levitated a cape over the armour and placed the crown on his head.
Discord nodded his head in approval. “You look ready to conquer your Father and free us from his tyranny.”
Night emerged from the portal and noticed the Crystal Empire in the distance. He shuddered over how menacing the Empire looked under his Father’s tyranny.
Discord rested a paw on Nights’ withers. “This used to be a scenic area, until your Dad ruined it. Fancy that, I see the moon looking down at us. Luna must be aware that something big is going to happen. The moon is usually hidden from this location.”
Umbra Night reared up and used his dark magic to fire a giant flair into the Empire. Discord watched this, impressed.
“You are more powerful than your counterpart. No doubt you just got King Sombra’s attention using that display.”
King Sombra stood on the balcony overlooking his Empire. His slaves were trembling in terror, since he was in the mood to execute some of them. But before he could begin, King Sombra saw a massive flair being hurled right at him.
He teleported to safety and scowled as his balcony tumbled to the ground. This peeved the King, how was he to view his Empire now?
The he saw something coming out of the shadows. He snarled, since he saw a far more confident Umbra Night.
“I thought I was rid of you. I will give you one last chance to change your mind and rule by my side as Father and Son.”
Night did not speak, he simply reared up and channelled dark energy into his horn. His sclera turned green and purple smoke flared out the corners of his eyes.
King Sombra quickly created a shield around himself knowing all too well how powerful dark magic could be.
Night surprised Sombra by teleporting at the last second and reappearing behind him. The King whirled around and struck a hoof out at his son. Night felt the power behind the kick as his armour protected him.
“Surrender, Dad!” Night, with his eyes flaring once again with magic.
King Sombra made his shadow scythe appear and licked his lips.
“You show promise, I have been eager to battle with all my worth. You show no fear, which is remarkable. Before this battle ends, I am going to show you what true fear is.”
Sombra dashed forward while swinging his scythe. The attack was met by two glowing blades, blocking the attack. Sombra dashed backwards to avoid the thrust his son was putting into the swords.
Night whirled around and kicked at his Father. The blow knocked Sombra off his hooves and Night dashed forward, pummelling the King, who dissipated and became a shadow.
“You cannot hurt me, I am darkness incarnate!” The King shouted with delight.
Umbra Night growled when Sombra whipped a shadow tendril at his face. He felt blood dripping down his face once again.
“Ugh, that really smarts!” Night shouted. King Sombra was preparing his favourite attack that involved tiny crystals.
Night screamed in pain as the black crystals were imbedded in his horn. He was cut off from his magic and it was disconcerting. King Sombra laughed, since he had managed to cut his son’s magic off.
But the real Umbra Night was in the shadows, smirking since his Dad could not tell that he was fighting a full shadow clone. Night did wince a bit, feeling the crystals enter the clone’s horn. But it was a small price to pay in fooling his Father. He finally managed to duplicate his Dad’s spell and sent a bolt of energy at his Dad’s horn making black crystals emerge.
King Sombra screamed in outrage at being cut off from his magic. He saw the double vanish as his son appeared on the field fresh as a daisy.
“It’s over Father, Equestria is free from your tyranny!”
King Sombra saw his Pony At Arms creeping up on Umbra Night, so he pretend to be frightened.
“What are you going to do with me?” King Sombra said as Shadow Flair got closer to his unsuspecting son.
“Freeze, Shadow Flair! Take one more step at me and I will not hesitate to send your King to Tartarus!” Night said as he whirled around to disarm the shadow guard.
King Sombra attacked his son using old fashioned brute force and Night was slammed hard into the ground.
“You fought valiantly against me, make no mistake. I am sending you to join your Mother.” King Sombra said as the crystals imprisoning his horn fell off.
“I invented that spell you little fool, I know the counter spell.”
Umbra Night watched as his Father’s sclera turned green and purple mist streamed at the corners of his eyes. Sombra shot a bolt of Dark Magic at Night that deflected off a mirror that appeared with a shimmer of silver blue magic in thin air. The blast rebounded with a cracking sound and hit King Sombra. Thus, the Tyrant was sent to the Moon.
Umbra Night watched in awe as the face on the Moon became male and the mare in the Moon vanished. The Umbrum screamed as, without their King, they were imprisoned once more in the Crystal Heart that had mysteriously returned.
Umbra Night saw a gentle glow land and his Mother appeared.
“Mom!” The stallion cried as he went to hug her. Luna smiled gently and nuzzled her son.
Discord was happy to see Luna back from her stay on the Moon. “M’Lady, it is wonderful to see you back.”
“Prince Umbra Night and Discord, I thank thee for freeing us from our Prison.” Luna said nuzzling her heir and dearest friend.
There was a joyous festival that night, celebrating the defeat of the Umbrum and King Sombra. Discord was busy with Luna, trying to duplicate the spell that created the portal that brought Night to their Equestria.
Several attempts later, Discord peered into the portal and saw another him kissing King Sombra. Rather passionately, the Alicorn Sombra’s wings were up at full flap. This version of King Sombra was clearly everything the other King Sombra was not.
Sensing something was off, the Alicorn King Sombra parted from his husband, saw the portal and gasped.
“Uh, is that the portal Umbra Night went through?” King Sombra had to wonder. Another Discord was looking right at him...
“Hello there, are you missing a certain Prince?” The other Discord asked now.
“Yes, is he with you?” King Sombra asked, with hope in his worried red eyes.
“Eureka! Lady Luna, we have found Night’s home.” Discord could be heard from the portal.
Moonlight Bunny was at the party, hanging out with Umbra Night who was once again patched up from the injuries he had received from fighting his Dad.
“Umbra Night, there is some pony who is eager to see you through that portal.” Luna said warmly to her son.
She gave him a hug before he would leave. “Never forget us, okay?”
King Sombra and Discord watched the portal shimmer and Umbra Night reappear. There was no doubt that the stallion standing before them was their Umbra Night.
He was wearing armour that looked like King Sombra’s old armour, along with a crown and two swords. He had a scar on the right side of his face.
“Ho ho, is that a scar I see Umbra Night? That look is so you.” Discord said with a laugh.
Night saw the portal vanish before he dashed up to his Father and hugged him. King Sombra was happy to have his Son back, he wanted to hear every detail...
