Chapter 1: Looking Into a Mirror, seeing Someone Else...
Author's Note
Yeah it was just a matter of time before Burning Star dived into this world.
But this Time, he's going to be chasing King Sombra again... to Earth!
Will Burning Star survive in high school again, even though he is much older?!
Chapter 1: Looking Into a Mirror, seeing Someone Else...
(Castle Nevermore, King Sombra's Throne Room)
Castle Nevermore was never a pleasant place, with the ominous sound of the northern winds in the tallest towers, and the creaking of the floorboards.
Burning Star walked the decaying hallways, it had been a year since the Daybreaker incident, a year since the father figure he both loved and hated died, And he still felt the sting of guilt from it even though it was not his fault.
Burning Star picked up a photograph, it was of him and King Sombra standing over Burning Star's first dragon killed, he was smiling and Burning Star was smiling in the photo as well.
Burning Star shook his head, he was a king now, he had to put the past behind him, Queen Twilight Sparkle's foals were here, and he needed to be a father figure to his little Prince and Princess. He had read all the books on parenting, he even went to Shining Armor and Princess Cadence for advice, and they all said to him the same exact advice
Burning Star said out loud, knowing he was alone, "do what you think is right Burning Star. It's not our decision, it is yours."
Burning Star turned his eyes upward as he looked upon the torn banner of King Sombra's crest hung limp above the shattered crystal throne that his former mentor/father figure sat.
Burning Star looked downwards at his hooves, he felt as if he should had been sent to Tartarus alongside his former mentor, he was just as guilty of spreading death and conquering villages.
He sighed, "I wish I could have said goodbye to him... but I can't now... I'm king."
Burning Star heard a familiar voice in his head, "Yes you are, and you're doing a pretty great job managing this world..."
Burning Star instantly recognized that voice, "King Sombra! Where are you?!"
A deep laugh echoed through the empty halls of the castle as a plume of smoke erupted from the throne, and King Sombra reappeared!
Burning Star rolled his eyes, before saying "Why can't you just accept death King Sombra?! It's not so bad! You get to reflect on your past and look on towards your legacy... or do you just return again and again to annoy me?"
King Sombra laughed, "Im just checking on my former student. But, I'm done with this world, I've found a new one to rule... screw this world."
King Sombra generated a hologram of a planet covered in blue and green, he said to Burning Star, "This is Earth... a world without the Elements of Harmony, a world without Celestia and Luna, a world fit for me to take over! After all, no one can stand up to my dark magic!"
Burning Star chuckled, "You never change do you?"
King Sombra laughed and stood in front of Burning Star, "Nope. And why would I? Being evil is so much fun, you should try it sometimes... you would love it..."
Burning Star narrowed his eyes, growling out a response "Sorry Sombra, but I'm not going to fall for your little tricks."
King Sombra looked disappointed, "that was a legitimate offer... I wasn't going to trick you at all."
Suddenly King Sombra's eyes filled with Dark Magic and he shot a bolt of lightning at Burning Star, who retaliated with a bolt of red lightning. The two attacks collided, leaving a giant cloud of smoke.
Burning Star took to the air in an attempt to get a better view on his foe, he shouted "Ha! Nice try Sombra, but if you think that a simple could of smoke is going to hide you..."
Burning Star flapped his wings, creating a gust of wind to blow the smoke away, "then you are..." he stopped mid sentence, King Sombra had disappeared!
He facehoofed, "Damn. Where did he go?" A thought popped into his head that sent shivers down his spine. King Sombra was going to escape to earth! That's why he needed the smoke cover from the collision of both attacks.
He flew out the broken wall heading towards Canterlot. "You are not getting away this time Sombra, I won't let you terrorize that world."
(Canterlot Castle, Magic Mirror Room)
King Sombra teleported to the mirror room, he knew that this would be his greatest victory yet. By faking his death and escaping to this world called "earth", he could rule there with an iron hoof.
But the second he stepped near the mirror, Somepony tackled him to the floor, knocking him away from the gateway to HIS new empire.
King Sombra looked up to see a earth pony towering over him, he had to shuffle back to see his massive form. The earth pony said, "Not gonna happen Sombra! Burning Star told me about you and your tendencies to return from the dead."
King Sombra looked upon the earth pony, he was HUGE, probably larger than Celestia. He was covered in thick gray fur which hid powerful muscles, his coal black mane was tied in dreadlocks to keep it out of his eyes, and his dark brown eyes stared into King Sombra's glowing green ones.
King Sombra asked the obvious question, "Who the hell are you?"
The Earth pony pounded the floor, canusibg the room to violently shake as he said, "I'm Iron Horse. Personal Guard to King Dawn Burning Star, and you are going nowhere pal."
Burning Star landed in the mirror room with a loud bang and said, "Stop right there Sombra!" He noticed Iron Horse and said to him, "thanks for holding him off buddy."
Iron Horse nodded, "No problem Burning Star, just doing my job."
King Sombra laughed, "So, you two are going to stop me? Oh please! I've fought hundreds of ponies such as you and I've killed hundreds." He ignited his horn, "You will be no different! I will kill the both of you and rule that world."
Burning Star slammed his hooves down, seeming almost frustrated "NO! You will never rule Earth, or any world ever again! I will not sit idly by as you take it over."
Iron Horse snorted, "Yeah! Earth is worth protecting, besides it's already got enough problems..."
King Sombra raised and eyebrow, "You seem very defensive of this Earth even though you've never been there. What's the deal?"
The pair of heroes said, "That is none of your business Sombra! Now prepare for another defeat."
King Sombra transformed into his shadow form and rushed the two, saying "SO BE IT! DIE!"
Burning Star put up a shield around him and Iron Horse to block King Sombra's attack, but he slipped behind them and dived headfirst towards the mirror, which opened like a vortex.
Iron Horse noticed first and grabbed King Sombra's legs, Burning Star grabbed Iron Horse's legs and used his magic to tether the pair of them to the wall.
But, the tether snapped and King Sombra, Burning Star, and Iron Horse into the mirror.
Burning Star shouted as he fell into the mirror portal, flailing his hooves and wings
"HERE WE GO AGAIN!"
The trio of ponies were sucked into the mirror.
Then everything went white!
(???)
Burning Star was falling, falling into the endless abyss that was the mirror. He screamed but he knew it was no use to do that, now he was traveling to a different dimension...
But instead of being scared to be in a new world, he was filled with determination to track King Sombra down!
Eventually after what felt like forever, Burning Star hit solid ground. He lay there, for what felt like forever, completely unable to move.
"Urrrgh... what happened..." he finally groaned out as he woke from his unconscious state, he felt weird, but from familiarity.
He tried to stand on all fours, but he got up on his hind legs, he opened his eyes and saw that he had fingers!
"What the..." Burning Star reached back to stretch his wings, but he felt nothing. His wings were gone! And So was his Tail!
Burning Star panicked and reached up to his head, feeling no horn on it. He was without his pony features!
Burning Star looked up, before realizing he was staring right at the sun, he shielded his eyes from its bright light.
Burning Star looked up and down his body, his cutie mark Was nowhere to be found, instead there was a tattoo of a large Black Dragon down his arm. he was stark naked, and wasn't a pony anymore.
Instead of panicking that he had transformed into some other creature, he jumped for Joy!
"Yes! I'm finally me again!" Burning Star said, pumping his fist in the air, "while being an Alicorn was fun, I'm finally back to live my life as a human. This is going to be great!"
Burning Star shivered in the breeze, "but first I should get some clothes..."
The Human Burning Star looked behind him, he was in front of his old house... "ah so many memories..." he said. Even though he had moved out months ago when he had gone overseas, eventually leading into him stumbling into Equestria, he still had the keys to his home.
"I'm home! Thank god for that... though it is sad that I'm not a magic Alicorn anymore, at least I'm the real me again."
Burning Star took out the key from the stone on his mailbox and opened up the door to his home, pushing the old whitewood door open and taking in the smells of nostalgia... and stinky socks.
"I guess I forgot to do the laundry when I left to see the world..."
Burning Star walked upstairs to his old room grabbed the piles of laundry that were lying about, and began to separate the colors from the whites.
"Ah, its good to be home at last..."
He looked outside to the sky, there was a black cloud trailing south, Burning Star knew who that was.
(Burning Star's Home, Living Room)
Burning Star was getting ready for his trip south to the city of Canterlot. He had the basics packed and he had
His cell phone, an IPhone SE (Check)
His Credit Card that he found underneath their dresser Check)
A weeks worth of clothes, mainly his jeans, undershirts, and various other pieces of clothing. (Check)
3 Bottles of Water and 100$ in cash to buy food (check)
His pair of Tonfa fighting sticks he had when he was training at the Karate dojo when he was a teen. (Check)
His favorite hat. (Check)
And finally, the keys to the motorcycle his uncle gave him for his 18th birthday. It was a great gift! (Check)
"Ok, everything seems in order, I'm ready to go. Let me just take a quick look at myself."
Burning Star went to the mirror and looked at his reflection. He flexed his arms and smiled,
Human Burning Star was wearing his favorite Camouflage Sweater with a dark red undershirt, a pair of black jeans, and had his sunglasses perched on his head. His wild red and orange hair was long and shiny, and his blue eyes shone bright with the pride of being human again.
He opened the garage door and rolled his motorcycle out into the driveway. It was all dusty, and Burning Star had to blow some of the cobwebs off the dials to see if he had fuel, which he did.
Burning Star turned towards his old home, "Well it was nice seeing you again house, but I must be going."
Burning Star turned on his motorcycle and pumped the gas to see if it worked, it sounded like music to his human ears to know that he had a ride.
Burning Star took out his earpiece and placed it in his ear, then opened up the maps app on his phone.
He saw the black cloud was heading in the direction of a small city called Canterlot. Burning Star smirked, "I guess something never change... I bet that Celestia and Luna are in a position of authority there."
Burning Star closed the garage and locked it, he wasn't going to be back anytime soon, he had a villain to catch.
He straddled his motorbike and put on his sunglasses, helmet, and bandanna. He wanted to keep his identity a secret until he found Sombra, then he would catch him and drag him back though the portal he came through.
Burning Star finally started on his way out, riding his motorcycle at top speed, he needed to find Sombra before he hurt anyone or destroyed anything. After all, he lost the guy, he should be the one to bring him back.
Burning Star said to himself, "but first... one stop." He turned his motorcycle around and headed towards his friend Iron Horse's Home.
(Iron Horse's Home, Front yard)
Iron Horse's attire was a black t shirt, with a white undershirt. He had black jeans on, and his hair was a mess of black tangles.
Burning Star pulled up to the front of Iron Horse's yard and said, "Hey Iron Horse..."
Iron Horse ran over to Burning Star and hugged him, they were both human again!
Iron Horse said to his fellow human, "Oh it's nice to be me again. I wonder what happened during our time in Equestria?"
Burning Star shrugged, "Not much, but I have an offer for you, my friend."
Iron Horse already had his bags packed, and had a helmet at his side, he was ready to go stop Sombra alongside his best friend.
Burning Star scooted forwards, "Get on! Let's go stop that evil man before he wreaks any more trouble in this dimension..."
With that, Iron Horse got on behind Burning Star, and Burning Star sped off on his motorcycle, as they left their homes behind.
Iron Horse asked his friend, "so where is King Sombra now? Because I did not see him go down!"
Burning Star said back, "He is heading to a small city called Canterlot. Apparently Earth HAS changed since we left for Equestria."
Iron Horse rolled his eyes, "we didn't leave for Equestria, we were thrown there on accident."
Burning Star nodded, then stepped on the gas more, he hit his top speed of 180 mph, he looked up and saw Sombra's smoke cloud, then motioned his friend to look up.
"I'm following that. King Sombra is known for dark smoke, so he has to be in Canterlot City."
Iron Horse chimed in, "You know, if he was reduced to our age as well, he would be in his senior year of high school. I've heard of a place called Canterlot High, let's settle down there to find him!"
Burning Star nodded, "Alright! What are we going to pose as though?"
Iron Horse thought for a moment, then said, "You always were good at taking in criminals and deciding their plans, so let's become the schools P.I."
Burning Star shouted, "Brilliant Idea! Let's go!"

Chapter 3: Canterlot High = Best School Ever!
(Canterlot, Main Highway)
Burning Star and Iron Horse rocketed down the highway, looking for the exit to get to the Canterlot High that the dark grey smoke led to...
Unfortunately, Iron Horse did his research on Canterlot High, and they didn't take very kindly to strangers suddenly pulling up to the front doors and saying,
"Heya, We are College grads that have come to this high school to hunt down a madman who wants to take over the world. So, can we live here?"
Burning Star understood Iron Horse's point, if he barged in fists flying he would get nowhere. So, he must do something he hated.
He had to... Burning Star shuddered at the thought, "negotiate"
Burning Star hated negotiations, they dragged on and on and on to no end! He just wanted them to burn and die in the pits of hell, but he couldn't do that now.
Sombra was his main target, and he wasn't intent on letting him get away with his plan.
Burning Star spoke to his partner, "So, you are going to do the talking right? Because you know how bad I am at reasoning with people..."
Iron Horse said to his friend, "Yes, Yes, I will do the majority of the talking. But you have to arrange our living arrangements, ok?"
Burning Star sighed, "Fine... but you know how hard it is to find a place to live in Canterlot, the vacant houses are supposed to be scarce, you know?"
Burning Star nodded, before swerving out of the way of a car speeding ahead of them.
He asked Iron Horse, "What exit do we get off of again?" He was turning towards the nearest off ramp.
Iron Horse pointed towards the off ramp, "Yeah this one is correct. Now take a right on the next block."
Burning Star rushed down the street and drifted down the street on the right, unfortunately he attracted the attention of the cops.
Burning Star heard the sound of police sirens and said to his friend, "Damn it! Now the police are after us! Should I pull over, dude?"
Iron Horse looked at his watch and said, "time is crucial, Burning Star. We need to get somewhere safe... but where..."
Burning Star turned down the street on the right and saw a house with a garage, he pointed at it and said, "There!" He stopped in front of the garage and looked back, then looked to Iron Horse and said, "How fast can you pick that lock?"
Iron Horse just kicked the lock and it broke, probably because it was covered with rust. Burning Star pulled his motorcycle in and Iron Horse shut the door before the cops could see them.
Burning Star gave Iron Horse a fist bump, then said "Nice work, but how did you know the lock was rusted?"
Iron Horse shrugged, "I don't know..." he looked around the inside of the garage, it looked as if it had just been cleaned. Maybe somebody lived here?
Burning Star took of his helmet and put in on the workbench nearby. He fished around in his bag for a pair of sandwiches and gave one to Iron Horse. As Burning Star was eating, he said "You think somebody lives here, pal?"
Iron Horse nodded, "I think so, if somebody does love here, we are going to have to also "negotiate" with them.
Burning Star groaned at pulled out some of his things from his bag, the majority of it was food and water, then Iron Horse noticed large black cases attached to the side of his motorcycle.
Iron Horse asked his friend, "What is in those boxes Burning Star?"
Burning Star scowled and said, "our plan B if we can't capture King Sombra..." he opened up the cases and Iron Horse went wide eyed.
The cases contained military-issue, Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifles, along with what looked like 5 ammo clips each. Burning Star pulled some of the parts out and began to assemble them. He made one for Iron Horse, then he made his own.
Iron Horse asked in a panicked state, "What the Hell are you doing with those weapons? Do you want to get caught by the cops?!"
Burning Star rolled his eyes, "don't worry... this is only for drastic measures." he opened the compartment below the seat Iron Horse was sitting on and pulled out the rest of his stuff.
Iron Horse looked on with a stunned look on his face as Burning Star pulled out various types of tazer pistols, smoke bombs, grappling hooks, flash bangs, tear gas canisters and zip ties. He also pulled out a Grenade Launcher and put it on one of the racks in the garage.
Iron Horse finally asked, "How did you get ALL of this? Some of this stuff is only available to the army!"
Burning Star chuckled and said, "Why do you think took me so long to get to your home? I stopped by the Army Surplus Weapon Department..." he got closer to Iron Horse and said, "Keep this in mind, We do not know if Sombra has his powers here. But considering I still can conjure flame..." Burning Star snapped his fingers and made a small flame appear, "I had to be ready to go all out on him."
Iron Horse wanted to tell him that this was overkill, but then her remembered who King Sombra was and said, "Ok. But we can't let these weapons be seen when we head to the school. Got that?"
Burning Star nodded, "That's no problem, the sniper rifles collapse into a easy to carry size, to an untrained eye it will look like a work binder instead of a powerful gun."
Iron Horse sighed, "ok. Then let's go!"
The two friends set up thier sleeping bags and fell asleep on the garage floor, making sure to lock the garage door with an unrusted lock.
(Canterlot High, Main Entrance)
Burning Star walked down the sidewalk next to his friend Iron Horse, they both had their cover names and identities in their bag.
They were supposed to be college graduates who wanted to complete a study of students in high school and how puberty can change their attitude towards others.
Iron Horse thought to himself "This is going to end well..." but he continued to walk besides his best friends.
They made an oath, to be "Friends as long as they live!"
Burning Star approached the front door of the building and looked at his watch, it was 7:30 AM, classes shouldn't start till 9 AM. That would give him enough time to negotiate with the principal, convince her what they are there to do, run back to the garage, ride his motorcycle to the school WITH the sniper rifle bags inside, park the motorcycle and give one of the bags to his friend.
Meanwhile, Iron Horse would tell the principal and vice principal about their project, and win the approval of some of the students and tell them of Burning Star's accomplishments.
The pair of them opened the double doors and saw that the hallways void of students, lockers lined the walls of the hallway and doors leading to the classrooms as well.
The pair saw a trio of ladies entering the office three doors on the right, Burning Star started to follow them but was stopped by his friend.
Iron Horse said to him, "Go get our stuff, pal. I'll deal with this..."
Burning Star nodded and left his bag with Iron Horse, as the large human walked down the halls and approached the door, he read the nameplate above it.
"Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna"
Iron Horse snorted in amusement, "We really can't get away from Equestria can we?"
(Canterlot High School, Principals office)
He knocked on the door and heard a faint "come in." So, he opened the door and saw the principal and vice principal.
Principal Celestia was wearing a white dress with a skirt. Her hair was colored in various colors such as pink, green, and blue. Vice Principal Luna wore a blue suit and had dark blue glasses on. Her hair was a dark blue as well, did both of them dye their hair?
Celestia asked Iron Horse, "Hello, who are you?"
Iron Horse asked, "Can I come in? I have something to discuss with the two of you."
Luna responded, "Sure. Enter please."
Iron hose sat down and began to tell Celestia and Luna about their studies. They looked completely calm upon hearing this.
Celestia said to the massive teen, "So let me get this straight, you and another male called Burning Star are college grads coming to our high school to study the effects of puberty on our students?"
Iron Horse nodded, "My partner would be here to tell you that I'm correct, but he is currently..." Iron Horse thought of a lie, he was really good at lying "Picking up our breakfast."
Luna got up from her desk and asked Iron Horse, "When do you think he will arrive?"
Iron Horse said to the vice principal, "a few minutes at least."
Celestia took out her clipboard and began to write something, she then said. "When he does arrive, have him sign this, this will be sent to all the teachers to make sure that you two are not students, just observers."
Iron Horse signed the paper, then heard the school bell, "I guess that means the day has begun?"
The two principals nodded, and Iron Horse looked at the school's list of students, he instantly went bright red in the face and rushed out the front door.
"Oh dear god..."
Twilight Sparkle and her friends were walking together down the sidewalk and approaching the school.
It was the start of their senior year there! Only one more year until college!
Pinkie Pie cheered, "Yay! Our first day of senior year! What do you thinks going to happen?"
Rainbow Dash responded to her question, "Probably more homework! God I wish I could just play sports all day, then I would have to listen to our teachers drone on and on."
Applejack said in her country drawl, "Hey don't worry, Ah heard that senior year ain't all that bad. So, don't get your underwear in a knot!"
Rarity shrugged, "Well, I'm going to spend the majority of my senior year in crafts. Got to work on my clothing line darlings."
Twilight Sparkle sighed, "C'mon girls, senior year is supposed to be the year we think about what college we want to go to. I personally am planning on going to Hayvard..."
Sunset Shimmer rolled her eyes, "Yes, yes, we have heard the whole "I'm going to Hayvard" stuff."
Fluttershy said quietly, "I-I agree with Sunset. You tend to ramble on about it way too much. E-even I got sick of it."
Twilight Sparkle turned the corner and bumped into her and friends rivals, Trixie and the Dazzlings!
Adagio smirked and said, "Well, Well, Well. If it isn't Twilight and her friends."
Aria chimed in, "You all are so annoying to see. I can't stand it!"
Sonata sighed, "Cut them some slack girls, it's the first day. Let's not start something now."
Trixie stared at Twilight and said, "Trixie agrees with this, besides, we would win that fight anyways!"
Rainbow snarled, "You wish! We will beat your butts into the dirt."
The girls all began to bicker, not paying attention to where they were walking as Iron Horse bumped into them.
Iron Horse lifted the girls up, "Sorry about that! I didn't see you two in my Rush." He looked at the paper, "so I believe you all go to this school yes?"
All the girls nodded, and Trixie asked "Why do you ask? Are you new here?"
Iron Horse nodded, "I'm not going here, I'm a college graduate doing a study here." He stuck out his massive hand, "my name is Iron Horse by the way."
All the girls shook the big teenager's hand, then Twilight said, "Do you have a partner with your project?"
Trixie rolled her eyes, "Of course you would want to be his partner. He is a boy! And if I'm not mistaken, Twilight... you are single!"
Iron Horse ignored the white haired girl and said, "My friend Burning Star is also coming to our study... he should be here any second..."
the distant sound of a motorcycle alerted Iron Horse, he then said. "In fact, here he is now!"
The girls turned around to see a tall teenager riding a motorcycle pull up to the edge of the sidewalk, he chained to a sign and turned around to see every girl staring at him.
Burning Star took off his helmet and said, "Hi... I'm Burning Star." He took off his sunglasses, and he continued, "Nice to meet you all."
When Burning Star removed his sunglasses, the girls' jaws dropped.
Burning Star was wearing a Camouflage Sweater with a dark red undershirt, a pair of black jeans, and had his sunglasses perched on his head. His wild red and orange hair was long and shiny, and his blue eyes shone bright like sapphires.
Burning Star looked at Iron Horse nervously, then rushed over him and gave his bag.
He then said to him, "Why are there so many females here, dude?"
Iron Horse whispered to him,
"This is an all girls school..."
Burning Star went pale in the face, "Oh..." he said as he ran inside, Iron Horse followed him.
The girls looked at each other, and everyone said,
"This is going to be the best year ever!"
