Twilight was outside as she looked at the clouds, while she looked at the clouds she felt bored so she closed her window and went to go read a book in her castle's library
When she got to her library section in the castle she went to a book case and tried to find a book to read, she didn't mind if it was a history book or fiction as she just wanted to read, when she found a book she sat down to read it.
As she read the book she saw a strange mark on the back of the book, she thought that it might just be a stain but as she touched it it moved so she grew curious so she checked it out by going to the back and she saw that it was a book from another library.
Her first reaction was panic as she realized that there was a book in her castle that didn't belong to her castle, it belonged to another library, she couldn't calm down as she freaked out that she had a book that didn't belong to her, she tried to find the library's name. She found the name so she went out to return the book to the library.
As she travelled to the library she cursed to herself for being so oblivious to what books that were in her castle She wondered how long the book was there and tried to figure out when she checked out the book from the library as she couldn't remember when she was at this library.
She was nervous that she would be in trouble as this library was probably angry with her for not returning this book which she didn't remember that she had in her place. She tried to think of the possibilities of what might happen to her. She didn't want to think of the punishment that might happen to her but she knew that she would have to prepare for it.
When she finally got to the library she hesitated as she was unsure if she was prepared to face the consequences that came from her late due checked out book, she started to hyperventilate so she sat down outside to calm herself, she wondered if they would sue her, she didn't want that to happen. She walked up to the front desk.
"Hello! May I help you?" The librarian asked. Twilight shook her head no as she stared at the book she decided to get it over with so she explained the problem in a quick but understandable way.
"I found the book in my castle that I checked out from here a long time ago which I forgot to return so it's been sitting in my library for years, I never noticed that it was a library book again until today when I was strolling through my book inventory, I realized that it belonged her so I brought it back, I'm really sorry for my mistake, I shouldn't have done that. Whatever the fee is I will pay for the fee" Twilight said as the librarian took the book.
The librarian saw the due date and frowned with disappointment at Twilight's mistake as the librarian thought that Twilight was better than this, as Twilight waited nervously while she thought about what punishment she might receive. The librarian put the book aside and stared at Twilight.
"I don't know what you do to distract yourself from an important duty of returning books but what I can say is that...you have been irresponsible with the duty of bringing back this book and I hope you realize that, this book hasn't been returned in years and what pisses me off is that you shared it with other ponies as if it belonged in your library in your castle which is unacceptable!" The pony said. Twilight lowered her head in shame.
"I'm sorry mam! I forgot! Please I'll do anything to correct my mistake, I'll do anything, please don't tell anypony else I'm really sorry! I'll accept any punishment!" Twilight begged, the library pony sighed as she buried her face in her hooves in annoyance. Twilight was nervous.
"Alright I won't tell anypony, since you said that you will accept any punishment then your punishment will be to pay us a fee, we can send it to you in mail form, you have till the end of this month to pay for it and if you don't then it will double." The library pony said, Twilight thanked the pony as she couldn't deal with her guilt so she went back home and waited for the letter to arrive to her place
Soon the letter arrived so she opened it and saw that the fine was a lot of bits but she was able to save up over a course of a few weeks by doing favors for ponies. She finally had enough so she went back to the library and paid the fine which made her relieved.
The pony that worked their said that she could continue to come to the library as long as she never made that mistake again, Twilight said that she would come back and she promised to be more careful to not forget about returning the book back to the library again.
Twilight traveled back home and went inside her place as she felt relief watch over her while she started to think about how she forgot to bring the book back, she was embarrassed by the whole ordeal she hoped that the story didn't spread around Ponyville.
To make sure the story didn't spread around to much she went to the same place several days to listen to the ponies talk but the ponies didn't talk about it to much so she was grateful that they didn't talk about it, she went back home as she felt reassured that her reputation wasn't hurt by this ordeal. She made sure never to make the same mistake ever again.
