Kobayashi silently rested under her kotatsu in the living room and gently sipped her coffee as she closed her eyes in pure bliss of the peaceful moment. Kanna, the young dragon, sat beside her mother-like figure and watched t.v with the same emotionless expression she always wore. Her round, plump head lazily rested on the coffee table. As Tohru worked in the kitchen, she slightly beamed with pride and satisfaction. It was everything she could ever want and more, because Kobayashi was in her life. Kobayashi takes these small snippets of good moments in her life to think about a sheer amount of things. Sometimes, she'll even ask Tohru or Kanna about what their lives were like before they arrived in her world.
Hmm. This is very peaceful. I wonder how often dragons actually get to just sit somewhere and chill out. Do they even get breaks from all the fighting in Tohru's world aside from when they sleep? I wonder how lonely it must've been for Kanna to have to live on her own like that for such a long time. It must have been hard. I want to see Tohru's world. Maybe I can ask her to take me there today. I have nothing better to do anyway. Kobayashi pondered these topics and let them be save for one.
Tohru finished preparing breakfast for the three of them, and headed toward the dining room table with the miso soup in her hands.
"I made breakfast for you guys! If you want it, come get it!" Tohru called out in her usual lighthearted tone of voice.
"Okay, I'm coming. You know, Tohru you don't have to yell. We're in the same room." Kobayashi remarked as she stood up and made her way to the sturdy wooden table.
Kanna trailed behind Kobayashi and walked over to her seat at the table.
"I know, it's just a habit of mine. Sorry for the noise." Tohru replied apologetically. She often apologized when Kobayashi criticized her. Though, she had to admit, it was part of her charm.
"It's fine Tohru, as long as you know." Kobayashi replied casually as she drank her soup. Kanna said nothing and proceeded to eat. Tohru went to sit down so that she could enjoy her creation.
The room was completely silent as they ate in peace. But the silence was broken by a question Kobayashi had.
"Hey Tohru, I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I wanted to ask you if you could take me to your world." Kobayashi spoke in a very serious tone, which was something that was rarely ever heard from her.
Tohru looked up from her miso soup and stared at Kobayashi with a glint of surprise in her eyes.
"You want to go see it? Really!?" Tohru was overcome by joy and happiness due to Kobayashi's request. Her heart practically bursted out of her chest due to the excitement.
Kanna was fairly surprised too, though, it wasn't present on her face, her eyes told all.
"Yes, I do wanna see your world. I'm just curious about it because you bring it up a lot." Kobayashi replied casually.
"Okay, so when do you want to go?" Tohru questioned excitedly.
"Today."
Tohru almost died from a heart attack. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. The love of her life wanted to see her world. Tohru couldn't be happier if she wanted to. Kanna simply stared at the scene with her eyes filled of wonder and excitement. She was glad that Kobayashi wanted to see what her world was like.
"So, what time today?" Tohru interrogated with much velocity.
"Now."
"You really mean it!?" Tohru couldn't control her enthusiasm and was now in Kobayashi's face.
"Yes, now get out of my face. I'm convinced that you're going to try something stupid." Kobayashi stated as she lightly flicked Tohru's forehead.
"Heeeeyyyyy." Tohru whined as she backed away and rubbed her forehead tenderly as she puffed up her cheeks.
"Are you guys ready to go yet?" Kobayashi asked. You couldn't tell, but there was a hint of eagerness in her voice.
"Yeah!"
"Yes."
Tohru and Kanna spoke in unison.
"Okay, then let's head to the roof." Kobayashi ordered.
On the Roof
"Alright, I've blocked perception of us. We can change back into dragons now." Tohru said to Kanna. Kanna simply nodded her head as a reply.
Because of Tohru's perception blocking spell, Kobayashi couldn't see her or Kanna resulting in her being a little startled when Tohru picked her up and set her down gently on her back. With the contact of Tohru, Kobayashi could now see them as she had been affected by the spell as well. Tohru beat her wings so that she could make a successful lift-off and Kanna followed suite. They flew out to an open area where there were no people. It was the same area where Tohru had taken Kanna to play in before.
Tohru had proceeded to open a portal to travel through to get to her world. It was easy for her to open portals because she was a Dragon who was powerful enough to bring on Armageddon (though sometimes the portals didn't always work how she wanted them to). With a few more flaps of her wings, she was through with Kanna close behind her. Kobayashi smashed down her eyelids to brace for impact. She was amazed to find that the only indication of passing through the portal was the smell of the air. It was new, it was fresh.
Strangely, by the time they got to the other side, the portal closed up without Tohru commanding it to do so.
That's wierd, they normally only close when I do so with my magic. Maybe it's just a one time thing. Tohru thought to herself as she glanced back at the portal. It had took her a bit of a while to notice what happened to Kobayashi.
Kobayashi herself hadn't noticed a change of any kind until she opened her eyes. She looked at the land below them and noticed how fantasy-like it seemed. She noted that there was a small town beneath them and an almost pure white castle off in the distance resting on the side of a mountain. When she looked down at her hands, she saw that they weren't hands anymore. Instead of seeing five stubs on each hand, she saw none and noticed that they were quite bony. She came to the conclusion that they were hooves and that she was no longer human. She lost her mind at that realization.
"TOOOHRUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!" Kobayashi bellowed at the top of her lungs. Tohru winced at the sudden noise and flinched when she turned around to meet Kobayashi's eyes. She noticed how Kobayashi had greatly changed. A small chuckle escaped from her throat as stared. Unfortunately, Kobayashi had heard it.
"You think this is funny? I've changed species entirely! I thought you said there were humans in your world!" Kobayashi had to yell due to the strong wind pressing against her face just for Tohru to hear her. Even so, she did recall Tohru being able to hear her despite the strong wind.
Kanna sped up and leveled her head so that she could speak to Kobayashi properly. She spoke in her Dragon voice.
"Kobayashi. This isn't our home world. You also look like a horse." Kannna declared with her usual soft and bored-sounding voice.
"What the- I'm a horse now? Tohru what the hell! I said to take me to YOUR world not wherever this place is! I've become a freakin' HORSE because of this world!" Kobayashi scolded, which was something she rarely ever did.
"I'm sorry Miss Kobayashi! I don't know why we're here. Usually dragons come here for vacation, or for retirement...or torture the creatures here to vent." Tohru muttered that last part so that Kobayashi couldn't hear her. She couldn't help but laugh at Kobayashi's current situation, but she had to hold it in so that she wouldn't get yelled at any more than she already had been.
"It's okay. Just take me to your world. I know you can, so let's get out of here!" Kobayashi called out to Tohru.
The Everfree Forest: 9:30am (Saturday)
Instead of obeying Kobayashi, Tohru decided to land in a nearby forest with an ominous feel to the atmosphere. It looked like it was night time even in broad daylight. Kanna landed beside them and sat down in front of Kobayashi who was in an irritable mood because of Tohru's rebellious action. She tapped Tohru's scales and asked why she hadn't opened another portal yet.
"Lady Tohru can only use that spell once a day. Occasionally she'll only be able to use it once a week because she rarely ever uses it." Kanna explained. Tohru didn't want to explain it herself because she was too proud to admit that she had a weakness in her magic abilities.
"Oh, so Tohru's just too proud to admit it herself. Well, thanks for telling me that Kanna. I already know Tohru wasn't going to." She gave a small smile to Kanna and reached out to gently pat her soft, furry head. Tohru only looked away and pouted as she puffed her cheeks.
"But why here?" Kobayashi asked as she slid off of Tohru's back and landed face first on the ground earning herself a mouthful of mud, much to her disliking. Kanna stared with amusement, but it didn't show on her face. It was in her big, beautiful, ocean-blue eyes. Tohru snickered slightly as she nudged Kobayashi to help her up.
"Ow."
"Oh my gosh, Miss Kobayashi are you alright?!" Tohru exclaimed with clear concern in her voice and a look of worry in her sunset eyes.
"I'm fine, thanks. Are you going to answer my question no-" Kobayashi looked down and saw that she had no clothes on.
"WHERE ARE MY CLOTHES!? Why am I NAKED. I hate this world already." Kobayashi shrieked. Tohru just stared at her with hunger in her eyes as she thought of many lewd things. Kanna just stared at Thoru with her normal blank expression.
"Lady Tohru is lewd." Kanna stated. Kobayashi agreed with a nod of her head as she turned around to face Tohru.
Standing on all fours was a lot easier than she expected, it was walking that was the real challenge.
"Tohru I'd appreciate it if you stopped staring at me like a pervert." Kobayashi said as tried learning how to properly walk in her new form.
It took her a couple of minutes to relearn how to walk. Tohru and Kanna gazed at her clearly pleased by how entertaining it was to see Kobayashi try to walk like a horse would. She asked Tohru her question about choosing this place again, and Tohru simply answered.
"I don't know, the portal took us here on its own. I don't know why it's acting all strange either. But, there is a lot of magic in this world, so it could possibly be interfering with my magic. Also, it's really hard to say that I probably won't be able to make another portal for about a week." Tohru reluctantly explained that last part.
"Hey, how come you guys still look the same. Is this world biased or something?" Kobayashi asked the two dragons returning to her casual, calm self.
"It's because this world is like a fantasy world. There's dragons here so we don't have to worry about our forms changing." Tohru described for Kobayashi.
"Oh. Well I don't think that we should stay in this forest. I know that you guys are strong and all, but I do not want to stay in a creepy forest for a week. Are there any towns or anything like that nearby?" Kobayashi queried. Though the forest seemed peaceful, she didn't like the dark and creepy vibe that she was getting from the place.
"Yeah actually, there is a town that we flew over just before landing here. We can go there." Tohru replied as she lowered her long, scaly neck so that Kobayashi could climb on to her back.
"Okay, let's go then. Is it far?" Kobayashi asked as she positioned herself comfortably in her new shape on Tohru's back.
"No, we can actually walk there. Though there are a few dangerous creatures in here so I would suggest staying on my back okay?" Tohru explained way too enthusiastically.
"You said that way too casually." Kobayashi remarked as she adjusted her glasses.
Tohru and Kanna walked side by side and made small talk about things that dragons would talk about. Occasionally they would ask Kobayashi questions about what she wanted to see in their world. They'd even give her descriptions of places and told her stories of their home world. Little did they know that a large pack of timber wolves was following close behind them, and watching their every movement from the shadows.
Suddenly, the leader of the timber wolf pack howled and they all attacked at once. Kanna and Tohru were the first to notice due to their dragon reflexes. They readied themselves in a fighting position as the timber wolves charged at them. Tohru blasted them with a black beam that exploded into fire on impact. Kanna took care of the timber wolves that Tohru missed with her own shocking methods. She electrocuted the wood that the wolves were made of causing electrical fires on their bodies. The timber wolves howled in agony as they were torn to pieces by the magical fires that were inflicted onto their woody bodies.
The timber wolves fled in terror and pain. When whatever was left of the pack was no longer in sight, the dragons continued to walk with Kobayashi in a current state of shock.
"Wow. You guys could really just end the world if you really wanted to." Kobayashi pointed out. Tohru was pleased to hear Kobayashi's 'praise' while Kanna simply had stars in her eyes with a feeling of victory rising up inside of her.
Ponyville: 9:37am (Saturday)
Not ten minutes went by when they finally reached the humble town. The only thing is that instead of people walking around, it was a bunch of horses with every color of the rainbow on their coats walking around. To be more precise they were ponies each with a different colored coat. There were blue ones, yellow ones, pink ones, and even purple ones. That wasn't the only thing that the trio noticed. They saw that some had wings, or horns. Tohru and Kanna recognized those races right away: the unicorn, and the pegasus. They even came in different sizes and shapes, there were big ones, small ones, brawny ones, tall ones, scrawny, and short ones. There were some that looked like the children of the species and they all were just walking around the town going on with their own lives. There was one that was different though. In fact, this one wasn't a pony at all, but rather, a small lizard looking thing.
He was a violet color with a green underbelly and deep green eyes with slits as his pupils. He was the first citizen of the small town to notice Kobayashi and her dragons. He was startled as soon as he saw them and sprinted off in a direction that would later be known to the trio as 'Twilight's Castle.'
With that, the three of them walked around the town with curious expressions (except for Kanna of course). As they did so, they noticed how the streets cleared immediately when they stood in plain sight of everpony in town. They all rushed to their homes and pulled in their welcoming rugs. They hid in their respective spots and waited for either somepony to tell them that it was okay, or for the trio to go away. The three of them remained there confused as ever. Then Kobayashi spoke up.
"It looks like you guys scared the whole town." Kobayashi explained as she pointed in the direction of a random building.
"I wonder why." Tohru responded.
"Yeah, I wonder." Kobayashi remarked sarcastically as she rolled her eyes.
A purple pony began walking up to the three of them and looked up at them with a serious, yet slightly frightened expression plastered onto her face. They noticed that she had both a horn and wings. She also seemed slightly taller than the average ponies of her kind. Her wings even looked grander, and bigger than the average Pegasus and her horn was slightly longer than average as well. As she hesitantly approached them, the little lizard was clinging onto one of her hind legs.
"H-hello there m-mighty dragons. Excuse my asking, but who are y-you and why are you h-here?" The violet alicorn asked with a shaky voice.
Tohru lowered her neck so that Kobayashi wouldn't have to fall on her face again when she slid off. When the purple pony saw Ms. Kobayashi she was amazed to find that a pony was able to ride on a dragon's back.
"Hello, my name is Kobayashi, nice to meet you." Kobayashi introduced herself in a civilized manner.
"I am the mighty Tohru Kobayashi: the most powerful dragon you will ever meet. Inferior species such as yourself should be honored to-"
"Her name is Tohru Kobayashi. You'll have to excuse her, she always says things like that." Kobayashi cut her off.
"The white one over there is Kanna Kobayashi. She doesn't talk much but she's a very nice girl." Kobayashi introduced Kanna for her because she knew that Kanna could be quite shy.
"Well, hello there. My name is Twilight Sparkle and this little dragon back here is Spike. Welcome to Ponyville!" Twilight said as she gestured to the town with her right hoof. She managed a small smile as she led them through the town.
Twilight multitasked by reassuring everpony that it was alright for them to come out. The citizens were a bit hesitant at first, but as they saw that the two dragons weren't going to do anything, more of them came out of their closets, and homes and into the street. Though they never took their eyes off the emense dragons. Their sheer size was the main factor to the ponies' fears of them.
"So, guessing by the fact that you all have the same last name, you're a family right?" Twilight questioned. She didn't want to pry but she was curious about them.
"I guess you could say that. Kanna is kind of like a daughter to me, and Tohru is one of my closest friends." Kobayashi answered.
"Awww, that's so cute!" Twilight cooed.
Spike simply stared at the two enormous dragons in awe, and in return he got gazes of curiosity from the both of them. Kanna stared at him the most though.
"So where are we going Ms. Twilight?" Kobayashi asked with her utmost respect.
"We're going to my castle! We can really talk about what we need to when we get there." Twilight gave Kobayashi a smile and a side glare.
"Okay." Kobayashi casually replied.
Spike liked the feeling of soon being able to communicate with older dragons. Most of the older dragons that he met only communicated by roars and snarls. He clenched his fist and brought them to his face in excitement. He anticipated all the conversations that they would have.
