Author's Note
Hello and welcome to "Spike's new lease on Life". First thank you for reading this and suggestions are welcome, also I'll be trying to update this story once a week. Second I don't own mlp or any of its characters. Last this is a story of growth and selfdiscovery, I hope you like it.
Ch.1 Spike' s Decision
Sitting alone in the library of The Castle of Friendship, wearing a pair of black pants, with black shoes, and a white jacket over a black t-shirt (see cover picture for what it basically looks like) and stood at 5' 6" was Spike the Dragon, thinking about how Thorax and Ember had come to relax and to see him but now that he was by himself he couldn't help but think about how everypony he knew was important in some way. Ember was the Dragon Lord, Thorax was the new king of the changelings, Twilight had become the Princess of Friendship, the Council of Friendship consisted of Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow Dash (who was also a Wonder Bolt), Pinkie Pie, and Rarity (who had a shop in almost all the major cities), Shinning Armor and Cadance ruled the Crystal Empire, Princess Celestia (who he always wanted to openly call her mom but couldn't because of the Nobles of Canterlot) and Princess Luna (who he called Aunt Luna when it was just them or them and mom) ruled over all of Equstria and rasied and lowered the sun and moon. Even SweetieBell, AppleBloom, and Scootaloo the CMC had started to help ponies find their cutie marks and find out what they ment. Besides helping save the Crystal Empire from Sombra he really didn't think that he'd had done much that stacked up to everypony else's acomplishments, in fact he felt out of place most of the time.
Spike tried to shake his head of thoughs thoughts but he couldn't and started to think about how his friends treated him sometimes. Rainbow Dash laughted at him for being weak, pranked him on a daily basis, and told him that he should leave the dangerous stuff to the adults. Pinkie Pie was always there to put a smile on his face, while she did prank him too she didn't do it on a daily basis, however some of her pranks could have caused some serious harm to him, like when he was sent into the pond during winter. Fluttershy didn't treat him like a child most of the time but she did treat him like one of her pets that couldn't help it's self out of bed in the morning. Applejack treated him like a friend most days but there where days that she treated him like a baby that couldn't do anything for himself, she also had the tendancy to be a little to honest at times, like when he wanted to help her and Big Mac with applebuck season and she told him that he wasn't strong enough to help in any way, he went home feeling really hurt.
Rarity used him to carry her bags whenever she was shopping or was going on a trip anywhere they went. She used him to dig up gems and when they were done shed only give him one or two. She used him to help out in her store whenever he was their, even though he had a crush on her a guy can only take so much before he can't take anymore. She also treated him like a baby. Than there was Twilight, his adopted big sister, the one he would do almost anything to help her with whatever she was doing, treated him almost like a slave most of the time since they moved into the Castle of Friendship. Spike clean this, Spike organize that, Spike if you don't do all your chores than no gems for a week. He did whatever she wanted when she wanted it done and almost never got a thank you for it or a few days off, he loved her like a sister but half the time he didn't know if she saw him only as her #1 assistant or as a little brother too. She always treated him like a baby too, even though HE WAS 16, he was conserted a legal adult in Equestrian society.

"(hevy sigh) Nothing Discord just thinking about somethings that have been bothering me for a little bit." said Spike with a hint of sadness that didn't go unnoticed by the chaos god.
"Do you want to talk about it, maybe somepony that can give you some friendly advice on what you want to do about it." Discord replied, though no one really noticed Spike and Discord actually became good friends after they had a guy night with Big Mac, no not just good friends, they consitered each other as one of the best friends you could have. So Discord felt he should try to help his friend in need.
"Well, I want to talk to Twilight, the girls, the princesses, Shinning Armor and Cadance about how I feel about all of them and how I want to start changing some aspects of my life but I'm scared about how they will all react to what I have to say and I don't no how I'm going to go about telling them. I just don't know what I'm going to do Discord." Spike said in almost a whisper.
Discord was at a lost for words about the information his friend had just told him and was trying to come up with something he could do to make him feel better and that is when a light bulb appeared over his head with a ding. "You could send a letter to Sunbutt and ask to bring everypony you want at the castle so that way you can say everything you want to them and I'll help you in anyway I can." He said with a grin and a happy tone.
Spike looked at Discord with surprise at the well thought out idea that he had and as he thought about it the idea was a pretty damn good one. With a smile working it's way onto his face at the thought of being able to say everything that he wanted to say to everypony he wanted to talk to all in one room.
"Discord your a genius, that would make this so much easier and with you helping me make sure it goes smoothly would be even better. You know, you can a very helpful friend when your not making a joke about everything and actually take something seriously." Spike said with a smile on his face.
"(gasp) I'll have you know that I don't take anything seriously and to say other wise is only serves a purpose if you want to confuse ponies." Discord said with moch annoyance. "But I'll always be there for you when you need me, even if I have to be a somewhat serious." He said with his own smile on his face. Spike walked over to the desk on the left side of the room, took out a scroll and a pen and began to write his letter to the princess.
Deaar PrinDear Mom
Hi it's Spike, I'm writting to you beacuse I have been thinking a lot today about everything that has happened over the last couple of years and have come to realize that I want certain things about my life to change. So I'd like it if you could have Aunt Luna, Shinning Armor, Cadance, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Twilight meet with you in the thrown room in two days at 2 o'clock pm. I know that it's a little last minute but it is very important that everypony that I mentioned above is their. Discord and I will be there after everypony else is their, I know that this letter might be a little confuseing to you but I promise that this will effect us all.

Spike had made his decision, satisfied with the letter Spike rooled it up tied it off and with a quick whisp of green fire it was sent off. Spike turned around and started walking back to Discord and said, "Alright Discord this is what we're going to do...."
Author's Note
Hey everyone, so a few things. One however I describe them is what they usually are wearing unless I state otherwise. Also I had a little trouble with getting all of their speech patterns down. I tried to do Applejack southern accent and it didn't work out too well for me so I guess just kind of imagine it being said with a Southern drawl, nor could I get Rarities Noble accent down. So besides all that I hope you enjoy.
Ch.2 A Day to Remember
"Are you sure you do not know why young Spike had asked you to gather us all her today?" Luna asked her sister. She was wearing a dark midnight blue sun dress that complimented her hourglass figure and E size bust quite well, her ethereal mane (that blow in a non-existent wind and looked like the night sky that she painted with stars every night) covered her left eye, and stood 6' 1" tall but with her dark blue high heels on she stood at 6' 3".
"(Heavy sigh) I'm positive Luna, I don't know why Spike sent that letter but I do know that he wouldn't have sent it if it was not important." Celestial stated to her little sister with a hint of concern. She was wearing a cream white sun dress that also complimented her hourglass figure and F size bust very well, her ethereal mane (that also blow in a non-existent wind and consisted of a soft pink, soft blue, and soft green) covered her right eye, and she stood at 6' 3". but with her white high heels she stood at 6' 5". "Princess Celestia, why are we all here. Is there something wrong? Do you know where Spikes been?" Twilight asked rather concerned. She stood at 5' 7", she was wearing a white blouse with a purple sweater vest on top of it that hugged her D size bust rather nicely, a dark purple skirt that came down to her knees, and a pair of dark purple shoes. She hadn't seen Spike for two days straight, he didn't even send a letter to her. All he left was a note saying Discord was helping him plan something that she'd see him soon, which did nothing to help keep herself calm.

Behind her stpod her five best friends and her BBBFF Shining Armor and her favorite sister-in-law Cadance. Pinkie Pie stood at 5' 8", she was wearing a baby blue and yellow t-shirt that hugged her F size bust, skinny blue jeans, and a pair of blue shoes. Applejack stood at 6 foot even, she had on her iconic Stenson hat, a plaid shirt that covered her D size bust, denim jeans, and a pair of tan cowboy boots. Rainbow Dash stood at 5' 7", was wearing a black sports bra with a blue and white sport jacket over top of it that hugged her C size bust, a pair of black training shorts, and was wearing some running shoes. Fluttershy stood at 5' 6", she was wearing a Christmas green sweater that hugged her F size bust, was wearing a pair of blue jeans, and a pair of white shoes. Rarity was wearing a blue blouse that huged her D size bust with a black business coat over top, had a black business skirt that stopped just below her knees, and she stood at 5' 7" but with her black heels she stood at 5' 10". Cadance was wearing a red sundress that complimented her hourglass figure and hugged her E size bust, her purple, pink, and yellow mane was in a braid, and she stood 5' 10" but with her red high heels she stood at 6 ft. And Shining Armor who stood at 5' 11", was wearing a red military jacket that had a white sash going across it, a pair of white pants, and a pair of black military boots.
"There is nothing wrong Twilight, or I hope there is nothing wrong. Spike sent me a letter two days a girl asking for myself, my sister, you, your friends, Shining and Cadance to be here in the thrown room at 2 o'clock to talk to us all. He should be here soon hopefully." Celestial told Twilight and the others that where currently waiting in the throne room patiently.
"I wonder what the little feller wants to talk about that he need all of us here." Applejack said out load.
"Oh, I do hope it isn't anything bad. For him to ask for us all to be here it must be rather important to him." Rarity said slightly concern about the little drake.
"I agree with you Rarity, Spikes never done something like this before." Fluttershy stated, also expressing her concern.
"Well maybe the little guy got started dating Ember and wants to tell all of us at once." Rainbow suggested not all that worried about the situation.
"(Gasp) Then I could throw them the best ever "Congratulations on being a couple" party. Ohhhhhh should i start planning it now or should I wait til after he tells us himself?" Pinkie Pie said excitedly without a care in the world.
"(Giggle) You should probably wait until we hear what Spike actually has to tell us before you start planning any type of party Pinkie." Cadance said with amused at the pink mares and antics.
"I agree with Cadence Pinkie, we should wait until Spike tells us. Though I'm sure if that is the case they will be happy to let you plan a party for them." Shining said also amused by Pinkies antics.
"But it's 2:05pm now, he should have be-" Twilight started to say but was interrupted by the throne room doors opening up as Spike and Discord walked in.
"Hi everypony, glad you all could come and sorry we're a little late." Spike said as he and Discord walked into the thrown room.
"Yes, we've been rather busy for the last 2 days getting everything setup." Discord told everypony as they got within a couple of feet of their friends.
"SPIKE?! Where have been, I've been worried sick about you for the last two days!" Twilight yelled with relief seeing that Spike was okay.
"Sorry for worrying you Twi but I was with Discord so I was fine. And before anypony else asks a question I'd like to get straight to why I asked you all here." Spike said with an unusual calm but commanding tone. Discord snapped his fingers and ten chairs popped into existence. They all took a seat in the chairs and as they all sat down Discord snapped his fingers again and they all glowed a soft white color for a few seconds before it stopped.
"Now the reason you all glowed white for a second there is so that no one can interrupt Spike until he is done or if it pertains to the person he is talking to or if it's to point out something that he forgot about." Discord told them all telepathically so that Spike couldn't hear what he had said.
"Discord, thank you for helping me come up with what it is that I want to say to everypony and for helping me set this up." Spike said with a smile while everyone else looked between the two confused.
"It wasn't a problem my scaly friend." Discord replied returning the smile. With his part done he simply floated in the air while eating some popcorn to watch what was going to happen.
"Ok, now I would like to start this off by telling you all that the reason why I asked you all here is because I want to address some of the problems that I've been thinking about lately." He said which surprised everyone their greatly. "To start with Rainbow Dash, I really don't like it that you make fun of me for, as you put it, 'a weak that doesn't even have his wings yet' every time you say that do you know how much it hurts, even if you are joking. Speaking of joking I'm really tired of you and Pinkie pranking me all the time, I wouldn't even care if you prank me but the fact that you do 3-6 times a day gets old fast and some of your pranks actually hurt like 2 weeks ago when you two dumped 5 ice water buckets on me in one day, I got sick and since I'm cold blooded you almost killed me too!" Spike said gradually getting louder as he spoke. Both Rainbow and Pinkie looked down in shame and shock at what they've been doing and almost could have done.
"Sorry Spike, I didn't know cold water like the ice buckets could cause so much damage to dragons." Pinkie said sadly for causing physical harm to one of her friends.
"Yeah, I'm sorry for that too and for calling you weak all time. It's really not cool for me to put you down all the time, even if I think it's just a joke." Rainbow said regretfully for all the times that she did that.
"Thank you guys and I guess I should have realized that you didn't mean it and that you might not have known." Spike said with a sheepish smile. "Ok, Appljack I really didn't like it when you said I couldn't help you and Big Mac with anything at all during applebuck season last year because I was strong enough. Fluttershy I know you probably don't realize it but sometimes you treat me like I'm one of your animals." Spike said this time in an even voice.
"(Sigh) I'm mighty sorry Spike, I could have put it bit better than that and I guess saying that you can't help with anythan was a bit of an exaggeration, we could have used you with collecting the barrels." Applejack said felling kind of lousy for how she treated Spike.
"A-and I-I'm sorry for treating you like I do my animal friends sometimes I really don't mean too." Fluttershy said on the verge of tears with realization that she did in fact do that sometimes.
"Its ok, I know you girls would never intentionally do anything to hurt me." Spike said to try to comfort her. "Rarity, I love helping you out with what you need but I've come to realize that I let you take advantage of me a lot, whether it be with carrying your bags, luggage, or with helping you find gems. I would like it if you at least offered to help carry some of that stuff some times. And Twi I love you but I'm tired of cleaning up after every mess you make, I wouldn't mind so much if it was once in awhile but you make me do it every time on top of cleaning the entire castle on a daily basis. You could hire someponies to help clean the castle, even if I still have to do the other chores I would be perfectly happy with that. And all six of you treat me like I am a baby, even though I'm 16, im not a little kid anymore and I would like to be treated like an adult." Spike said with conviction in his voice.
"I'm sorry Spikey-wikey, I guess that I just got so used to you doing all that it never even occurred to me that it would bother you." Rarity said saddened by what she did to him.
"(Sigh) Your right Spike, it's not fair to you that I make you do all of that and I will start looking for somepony to help keep the castle clean. I'll also start cleaning up after myself when I make a mess so that you can have some more free time to go have fun." Twilight said with a smile on her face as she looked at her baby brother.
"We're sorry for treating you like a baby." all six of the girls said in unison.
"Thank you girls so much for listening." Spike said smiling at his friends and at how well that went.
"Though I'm curious, what brought all this on Spike?" Twilight asked him.
"W-well I started to think about how you all have done really amazing things and that besides helping stop Sombra takeover the Crystal Empire I really haven't done anything." Spike said sheepishly while scratching the back of his head. Discord also took that moment to undo the spell he put on all of them.
"WHAT?!" They all said in unison.
"Only helped with Sombra, what the time you helped save Rarity from those Diamond Dogs, or when you saved AJ from a Timberwolf King, or save that baby Phoenix egg from being smashed by those mean old dragons, or when you helped Twilight bring us back to normal to defeat Discord the first time, or when he melted that giant iceberg that was falling out of the sky during The Equestria Games, or that time you proved that not all changelings are bad, or that time you won that Goblet of Fire and help make Ember the Dragonlord, or that time you help Starlight reconnect with Sunburst which helped reformed the crystal heart. You don't remember all that?" Pinkie asked all in one long breath.
"I might have forgotten about doing all of that." Spike says while laughing sheepishly and scratching the back of his head again.
"Spike you've done just as much amazing this as we have if not more. Your a very special Dragon and don't you forget it." Twilight told him as she brought him into a hug, they were soon joined by the rest of their friends.
"Thanks girls." Spike said happily.
"While I'm very happy to see you all work stuff out, why did you want us here Spike?" Shining asked as he gestured to himself and the three princesses as they broke the hug.
"Oh, well I was wondering if you could teach me how to fight and if Cadence could help me with some love problems?" Spike asked the two of them completely taking everybody in the room by surprise. Except Discord who was still happily munching on some popcorn.
"Well I don't see why not, Shining and I will be here for a few weeks since the Empire is being taken care of by a Council of Representatives that we set up a while back." Cadence happily told him.
"But that still does not explain why you wanted it two of us here young Spike." Princess Luna stated.
"O-oh yeah, well..." he awkwardly hesitated as he looked at the two princesses.
"Spike what ever it is you can tell us." Princess Celestia said in her mother leave voice.
With a deep breath to calm your nerves Spike looked at Princess Celestia and calmly stated, "I want to openly call you mom and Aunt Luna, no matter who is present. I want to be able to call you two what you are to me."
Silence.
That's what followed spikes statement. Everyone looked at him in silence with wide eyes and open mouths, all except Princess Luna, Princess Celestia, and Discord, the latter still munching popcorn and watching very excitedly as to what would happen next.
