Missing Star
Noticing That A Star Is Missing
Load Full StoryCelestia was inside her throne room checking meetings off that were listed which she had gone to, it was almost the end of the day as she had been everywhere that day so she was pretty tired and she was being honest about it as well which was why Luna allowed her go inside so she could raise the moon for the night.
Before the moon was raised, somepony was at the palace door wanting to come in, the guards were suspicious that it might be a dangerous pony, Celestia wanted to see who it was so she went to the door.
"Who's there? There isn't supposed to be anymore visitors when it's past the evening Celestia asked in a demanding tone, Luna raised the moon into the night sky as Celestia questioned the pony at the door.
"My name is Blooming, I know there isn't supposed to be anymore visitors but this is urgent! I found...." Blooming started to say but Celestia cut them off as she told Blooming exactly what he had to do.
"If you see any crimes or incidents, your supposed to report them to your local mayors office, I don't handle with the crime in Ponyville or any other town, if it was a major terrorist attack to some degree then yes but not this, the mayors deal with small crimes." Celestia explained.
"It's not a crime your majesty! Something is wrong with they sky!" Blooming explained urgently, Celestia sighed and allowed him inside the castle, Celestia led the pony to Luna. Luna saw the pony and Celestia.
"Luna this pony who is named Blooming is saying that there appears to be some sort of problem with the night sky, I see nothing wrong with the sky so could you please look for him in order to put his mind at ease?" Celestia asked.
"Sure no problem let me just adjust the telescope here! Luna said as she fixed the telescope and then she looked at the night sky, she tried to see what he was freaking out about but she couldn't make out anything that was out of the ordinary.
"Nothing seems wrong to me, it looks like how it always looks....are you okay?" Luna asked, Blooming hyperventilated as he pointed in a direction, he was afraid they might not believe him. Luna shrugged and looked again, she tried to concentrate on looking really well just in case she was missing something and she saw that a star was gone, she took a second look as she couldn't believe it. She stared at Luna
"Where's the horse rider constellation!? It's supposed to be there!" Luna panicked, Luna became alarmed as she tried to speak.
"What do you mean where it is? You mean it's not there?" Celestia asked Luna nodded franticly, Celestia couldn't believe it.
"Yes it's not there! It's missing! And I'm not the only one since this pony saw it first, probably other ponies are seeing it and they are freaking out that something is missing from the night sky!" Luna yelled, Celestia let her get another look at the sky and she saw that they had a huge problem. She stopped looking and turned to Blooming
"Thank you for pointing out the problem to us, you were looking more an we were and I appreciate you coming all the way here to tell us, I'll call a meeting tomorrow with scientists and astronomers to see what we can do to fix this problem, this has never happened in the history of Equestria so it just baffles us, we have never seen someone like this happen so it was pretty hard to believe. Thank you again." Celestia said as she thanked Blooming for bringing the missing star to their attention.
"Please fix the problem, it might be more dangerous that you think!" Blooming said, Celestia assured him that Celestia and Luna will try and fix the problem. Blooming left as their was nothing more they could do and Celestia walked inside the castle with her sister.
They got to work later in the middle of night, they sent messages to Twilight Sparkle and Celestia's science counsel to discuss the problem, Twilight couldn't believe that the problem was possible at first as she went on to discuss how it was scientifically impossible for a star to disappear until it did.
Celestia knew that Twilight didn't believe her so she ordered Twilight to see it, Twilight refused at first but Celestia ordered her to come see it several times so she gave up and went to go look at the night sky, when she got outside she looked through the telescope at the night sky while Celestia directed her sight to the place where the star was.
Twilight couldn't believe that Celestia was telling the truth, she admitted that she had never seen something like this, she couldn't come up with any rational explanation for why the star died before its death date. She spoke honestly as she shrugged.
" To be honest Celestia I honestly have no idea why that star is missing now, it was there the other night and it was there all of the nights before this night, I don't know what to tell you but alls I can say is that if I do try and find out about it then it's going to take me quite a while as there probably isn't any information anywhere about possibilities of stars missing but I'll try to look anyway, I'm really sorry." Twilight said.
"Yes please look for me, I appreciate it, I'll be having my science council look at it as well so we might find something out about it." Celestia said. Twilight nodded and said goodnight to her, she then left the castle and Celestia and Luna faced eachother.
"I'll investigate the problem myself tonight sister, I'll tell you if I find out anything about the missing star, you can investigate it tomorrow. Once we are done we will put it into a press release." Luna said. Celestia nodded and went to bed.
The next morning Celestia woke up and raised the sun while Luna went to go and sleep in her bedroom. Celestia told her science council to investigate the problem, the science council and Twilight worked together as they tried to find out why the star was missing and where it was.
Celestia announced the problem to the press and the citizens, numerous theories started to spread about the star, the whole problem was turned into a major ordeal as newspapers had articles talking about the problem and there were books written about the missing star as well.
Over the next few weeks mass hysteria over the missing star spread throughout Equestria, it quickly got out if hand but the scientists realized what happened to the star a month later and they revealed the reason to the public as they explained why the star disappeared.
The star disappeared due to it imploding for reasons unknown, the situation and the reason was written about, they don't know why they imploded but they found out the reason for it imploding which was due to a miscalculation in the star that caused it to grow dim and then die die to not shining.
Twilight and Celestia with the rest of Equestria were happy that they had found out the reason why it died, Equestria hoped that no more stars had died. Over time they saw that stars only died regularly so they stopped worrying about it as they saw that the problem was gone.
