She really wanted to help her friend, Rarity was a lovely soul and far deserving of some aid. Yet her back was against a wall on this one, nowhere in all her books did she read an easy fix to regrowing a mane. Rarity casting her friend an icy glare, slumped down atop the velvet sofa in the royal castle. Her silken black cloak hugging her slender frame tightly, almost as if she wanted it to swallow her whole. “Well excuse me! Some all powerful Alicorn! You can’t even summon a mane!” Rarity snapped aloud with tears running down her cheeks, plopping her head down atop the cushion with a dull thud. “Hey! I can summon a mane! It would just be costly.” Twilight narrowed her eyes in deep thought, as if weighing her options carefully. “How costly? Like another chunk out of the door?” Rarity sniffled, her hoof flaunting over to the wooden mane on the floor. “No Rarity. It would cost way more than that!” Twilight spoke in a soft tone of voice, eyes darting away from the two mares in the room. “Anything it cost, I’d be willing to pay.” Rarity jumped off the sofa with a thud, her eyes gazing up helplessly to her friend. “Ha! Earthly goods are of no use! I would require a Blood Sacrifice!” Twilight snapped aloud in a eerie tone. “What!?” Starlight Glimmer yelped out loud in confusion, at the dark turn of events this took. “I can do that! Blood is so last year anyway, take as much as you need!” Rarity spoke up in a dramatic and shivering tone, holding out her hoof in wait as her eyes winced shut. “Not just blood Rarity! I’d also need a pound of flesh!” Twilight narrowed those violet hues in a wicked stare, sending a cold chill through the room. Clouds outside the window began to slowly darken, the once calm and sunny day becoming darker. A cold chill rising into the air and spreading across the castle, leaving eerie howls to haunt the halls. “You can’t be serious about this!” Glimmer asked as her mouth fell open in shock. “A whole pound! Well I suppose you could take it off the side of my flank.” Rarity groaned softly while making her decision. “Did I even mention that you would lose your soul!?” Twilight slammed a hoof hard atop the castle floor, cracking it with ease. Thunder boomed loudly outside, the whole room cast in a dark shadow. The clouds now a dark umbra, the curtains within the room billowing wildly in savage wind. “Whaaaa?” Glimmer gasped unable to form words. “Alas! I’d be willing to part with it! Just restore my mane with your vile trickery!” Rarity burst out into tears, ripping off the cloak from her body and sobbing loudly on the floor. “The last thing needed, would be the sacrifice of your sister Sweetie Belle! Into the hellfire of the underworld, where she’d suffer till the end of time in eternal damnation!” Twilight screamed out at the top of her lungs, eyes turning a dark red color as her mane frazzled out wickedly. The abyss seemed to creep further into the room, casting all three mares into what felt like a never ending void. The air was thick and heavy, yet a cold chill enveloped all while sending an icy chill down each pony's spine. “...” Glimmer gazed on in total shock. “....”Rarity gazed up to her friend , tears trickling off onto the floor below. “.....”Twilight awaited a reply, eyes never blinking to the poor unfortunate soul before her. “....”Glimmer knew she should say something, but she felt numb to her very core about this subject. “I suppose we can try and find another way.” Rarity wiped away her tears, slowly picking up her cloak and sliding it back on with a small huff. The clouds quickly faded away from the sky outside, clearing up within seconds as the sun climbed back high into the sky. Birds could be heard chirping happily in the distance, while a cozy warmth and bright light filled the castle. “Oh! Well that is perfectly fine with me, I think perhaps we should get the other girls to help us?” Twilight giggled happily as her mane returned to normal, eyes once more filled with delight and wisdom. “That might be a fabulous idea darling.” Rarity perked up with a sense of hope, trotting carefully over to the door as she left the room. “Well I think we should tag along, just to keep an eye out on her huh?” Twilight asked her friend with a soft smile and a playful wink. “What!? I mean what the buck was all that!” Starlight yelled out in a frightened and confused tone of voice, her eyes as large as the moon during the night. “Hmmm? Oh that! It was complete nonsense, I just had to scare her off the idea of using magic.” Twilight replied smugly, with a sweet little shrug of the shoulders. “But why!? I mean just why!?” Starlight narrowed her eyes in growing confusion. “Duh! She had a point, I’m an alicorn and yet am unable to summon a simple mane.” Twilight sighed deeply gazing down to the crack she created on the floor. “So you rather her think, you have some kind of end of days spell. Instead of no spell to summon a mane?” The mare tilted her head to the side slowly, eyes narrowing at the utter insanity of her words. “....” “......” Starlight locked eyes with her teacher. “.....” “....” Silence filled the room around them. “Well you just make me sound crazy, when you put it like that.” Twilight pouted cutely and gazed out the window in shame. Starlight softly pressed her hoof against her forehead, it were times like these that she wondered if she made the right choice leaving her village.
