It was a bright day in the vast green valley of the Ratunga mountains on the deep end of the Forbidden Jungle. The ancient city that littered the jungle with unused constructs that deteriorated over thousands of years met its unfortunate demise from the erupting fires that surged within them, the black smoke and ash polluting the skies above.
From a mountain atop the ghost city, an ancient tomb palace crumbled within itself. Inside the tumbling form of rocks laid a bleeding and exhausted Daring Do, struggling to flee the burning city. Her left wing was clipped by the falling debris when she tried to fly out, leaving her with the only option of running, running as far away from the palace as possible from her determined assailant. Once she got up from her place and walked towards the large opening leading outside, she heard a masculine roar of some sort call for her, hastefully getting closer to the injured equine.
“Daring Do!” The roar screamed. “Give me the amulet!”
“Fuck!” she hissed, running into a full sprint. It was only cut short as she got to the openway of the palace, being hit with a force so strong it pressed the wind out of her lungs. Her assailant tackled her to the ground, making her drop a golden necklace onto the dirt concrete a few meters away from her.
Her attacker rolled off her with excess speed, stopping a good few yards from her and the amulet. Daring Do got up from the floor, her blood staining the dusty pavement, to look at her Pegasus enemy who looked badly shaken as well.
But that didn’t cancel out his expressive rage towards the archeologist.
“You thought running away was going to be that easy?”
The archaeologist chuckled. “I thought it'd be, since ugly isn't my cup of tea.”
“It's nice to see that you still have that obnoxious attitude before I-”
Before he could finish his comment, the floor beneath them started to break apart, the amulet moving down to him as he fell on his butt.
Daring Do hastily jumped over to his side of the crumbling platform to grab the amulet, only for him to swipe it away with his foot and sweep her off her feet and onto the dusty hard ground. They both quickly got on their feet and looked at each other intensively before he lunged at her, fist at the ready.
Daring blocked the blow to her stomach. The next, she blocked and grabbed onto his arm, shifting her back to his chest to kick her foot back and pull him over her shoulder, slamming him onto his back with a forceful thud with his arm still in her possession.
Just as she was about to get on top of him and deliver the crushing blows, he grasped her arm and swept her feet again before he made a hasty recovery, twisting her arm to make her screech in pain. Once he got on his feet, he twirled her around before tossing her with momentum.
Daring hit the floor, tumbling toward the end of what used to be. She reacted quickly and grabbed onto the ledge before falling off into the imploding abyss underneath the fixture.
The winning tide was going against her by this point. She had an injured wing with no way of getting out of this debacle event. To think it would come this way for her was unbelievable; she always got herself out of a sticky situation. But this one seemed impossible.
Her enemy walked his way towards where she hangs, the amulet hanging off his neck. Daring winced in pain as he set his boot on top of her hand and stood proud for his biggest nearing achievement, chuckling as he witnessed her predicament. She couldn’t believe this. Was this going to be the end of her adventures, in the most worst way possible?
“Well Daring, looks like everything’s not working out for you. All of your friends are gone, your sidekick is gone, I even have your journal with everything I need to rule this world…”
He applied more pressure to her trapped hand, making her yelp and cringe in pain.
“Got any last words before you’re gone, A.K.?” Daring looked at him with anger in her eyes. Even though she was in such a one way fight at the time, She would not tolerate going down without a bang.
“No… just last action!”
“What are-” Before he could think about what she said, she used her free arm to wrap around both of his legs, using her weight to forcibly pull him down in swift action.
With a loud surprising yelp, he slid off and hit the back of his head on the fixture, preventing him from using his wings as he dazed in the free fall to the Abyss. This was it. This was Daring’s last chance before being engulfed into the unknown, to stop him from using the amulet for his personal gain.
She climbed onto his back expeditiously and yanked one of his wings as hard as she could, dislocating it.
He Shrieked in excruciating pain before turning around and punching her in the face. But because of the adrenaline rush that surged through Daring’s body, she negates the pain and continues moving around him. She had to in order to do something she never thought would happen, to sacrifice herself for the safety of Equis.
As her final act just before he tried to punch her again, she grabbed the necklace from around his neck and kicked his torso to push away from him, free falling.
She’s finally finished with her chapter in the big book of life. She had made many achievements during her years as a treasure hunter, finding many relics that gave her much in fortune. That’s the good part that everypony will remember about her. Nopony will know about what she had lost during this stand-off with him.
She took one last look at the crumbling city before everything went black.
