The story of a crazed zebra.
Prologue.
Load Full StoryThe sun was sending its scorching rays to the ground. The dry wind was blowing like a silent whisper along the endless sea of sand. However, the silence was quickly disturbed by the screams of a zebra running around the golden dunes for no apparent reason. "ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH! GET AWAY FROM ME YA' DAMMED WORMS!" But he suddenly tripped and started rolling down the dune. Screaming all the way down and cursing every name under the sun. "Scorching ass cactus!" It took a while for him to stop, and when it happened it left him groaning on the ground.
"Oww..." He mumbled as he rubbed his head with a hoof. "Oh hey! A beetle!" He said as he quickly caught the beetle in his tongue, similar to a chameleon, and gulped it down. Juice dripped from his maw as crunching noises could be heard. Many may think it's disgusting, well it is, but to Raja it's a protein filled meal. That, and it doesn't have spikes like a cactus, which he also ate. An idiot has to survive in a desert somehow.
"I think I lost those dammed worms." He said as he was looking around for his imaginary nemesis. Shaking his head he got on his hooves again. His old clothes, way too big for him now, were ripped and transformed into something that resembles a robe if you squint your eyes, put lemon juice in said eyes and look at them upside down. Said robes where wrapped around his head and on his back and legs.
His mane being a stripped mess, and since he didn't shower in years, his smell being of sand and bugs, along with some lizard blood soaked in his mane and 'robes'.
After his meal he went back to what he did most of the time, wondered around. But today was different, today he found a village . Good thing his mother put him to learn the commune language, along with zebrican. Said village was one of horses, ponies adapted to the sands. It was colored in numerous pigments that Raja had no idea what their name was.
Stopping in his tracks, he pulled out from under his robes a small pouch. The insides of said pouch clinked. Opening it revealed a small amount of gold coins, 25 to be exact. He could finally find a way home! But he won't do that. Why? Because one: his parents didn't let him buy a scimitar and two: he still didn't get over it. And finally, because he is an idiot who went insane from having a sun shine on his head for ten years.
He started to slowly make his way to the village, so he won't look suspicious. Even trough they probably never saw a zebra before, but he didn't know that. His slow walk was interrupted by the ground 'shaking'. 'A gigantic albino worm with red accents sprouted from the ground, roaring at the zebra.' "You've found me again Remar! BUT YOU WILL NOT CATCH ME!" Raja screamed as he started running, 'the worm' quickly on his tail. But to a normal person, it was just a zebra screaming nonsense and running for no apparent reason.
A crowd was formed outside the village. The villagers where confused when they saw the screaming zebra, a few of them where scared because of his screams. However they underestimated his speed, he was only a few meters away from the village now. The crowd started to move, scared that they'll be injured by the crazed zebra. Guards where alerted, but they didn't arrive yet.
Raja jumped over the few remaining horses that didn't manage to get away in time. However, even trough his jump was a success, his landing wasn't even close. Thus he landed on his face and his mouth being filled with sand..
Horses quickly gathered around the downed zebra, wondering why was it running. A low mumble was heard from Raja's sand filled mouth. Slowly getting up, he spit out the sand and looked around. With a shrug of his shoulders he made his way trough the crowd, leaving them confused.
He walked on a road filled with shops that sold everything you could imagine, even dragon hearts! But he didn't care about that, no. He wanted something he always wished for, a scimitar.
The shop owners were confused at the zebra's appearance, not many zebras visiting this village. However they didn't stop from offering their merchandise to him, never miss a sale, a wise man once said.
He only stopped at a shop which sold weapons and armor. The shop had many things on display, from pole arms to helmets. Entering the shop, Raja saw an old horse at the counter, polishing a short sword. He had a black fur, which had patches of gray in it, a sign of his age. His mane was a dark brown color, which also had the same gray patches that where found on his fur.
"Hello! Do have you sell scimitars?" He asked in broken commune. But the old horse understood him after putting him to repeat what he said for a few more times.
"Yes, actually. I have a few scimitars for sale, would you like to see them?" At those words, Raja nodded. The old horse went behind the counter and the noise of metal hitting metal was heard as he searched for said weapons.
After ten minutes, the old horse pulled out three scimitars. One with gold decorating the handle and a wide blade along with a leather strap which had a few golden decorations.

Another one had a slim curved blade with a woden handle and a shed. The handle and shed decorated with silver.

The last one had a red and black handle, with a blade slimmer then the first scimitar, but wider then the second. It also had a leather strap similar with the first one, but this one was made with a black leather.

"The prices are: for this one," he said pointing at the gold decorated one. "It's 100 bits, for this one," this time he pointed at the slim one. "It's 50 bits. And for the last one, only 25 bits since the materials aren't that good."
Raja's eyes shined brightly, he could afford it! Finally he could have a scimitar! "I get that one!" He said pointing at the cheapest one.
The old horse quickly put the other two away and handed the zebra the scimitar and leather strap, which he quickly put on. Taking out the pouch, he spilled its golden contents. The horse quickly counted them, making sure that they where all there, and then put them in his counter. "Thank you for your purchase!" He said in a rough voice as the zebra mumbled a goodbye and left the store, happy with his purchase.
Getting outside, some guards where starting to gather, however he didn't realize it. He quickly started walking deeper inside the village, seeking something interesting to do. It was obvious he was an idiot since he didn't realized that the guards where surrounding him. Suddenly he bumped one of the guards. Looking up he saw a tall horse with light cream fur and dark brown main. The zebra grinned and said. "Oh hi!" However, when he opened his mouth, a putrid smell of dead bugs filled the nostrils of the horse, making him fall down with a thud. This made the guards start closing in on him rapidly. When he saw the guards getting closer, he started running, not knowing what to do.
He was pushing the other horses in front of the guards so he could get more distance. He made a sharp turn and looked around for an escape. Seeing a sewer, he ripped off the lid and jumped inside. After ten minutes he pecked, and when he saw no soldiers, got out. Letting out a sigh of relief, he went back into the market. After some more wandering around the village, he got thirsty and started to search for something to drink. Luckily he found a fountain, and started to drink from it. Completely obvious to everyone staring at him.
On the other side of the village, the new princess was visiting the small village for a vacation. Her name was Shana Minora, her mane was a beautiful golden hair, shining in the light. Her fur was a white creamy color, both with the silkiest texture, obtained by carefully taking care of her fur and mane from her birth. She was one of the most beautiful horses in the land, however, she was weirdly blind to things. She could see the hearth of people and the smallest details, but she could not see the obvious things. The problem is that she believed that minorities should be helped to integrate. That helped her sometimes, this got her in trouble a lot as well. But now, she will find herself in the biggest issue yet.
She was escorted by two elite guards. Both having the same black manes and furs. The same armor along with halberds The only difference was that one had blue eyes, while the other had green ones. One was called Amir, which had blue eyes white the other was called Jikar.
They were walking across the marketplace, greeting the villagers as they went past. It was a normal day, nothing really happened out of the ordinary, until they arrived at the marketplace fountain. The guards stood there shocked at what they saw before them. A zebra with ripped pieces of cloth and a scimitar strapped on with a leather belt drinking from the fountain and at the same time showering in it. Shana, however, was interested in his behavior, completely oblivious to the fact that he was showering and drinking from said fountain.
The guards quickly started closing in, in order to arrest the zebra. But when Raja saw them, he quickly got out of the fountain, and started running away. and spoke in the zebrican language:"Screw ya' yer bloody horses! This is what happens when I try to take a shower after ten years!?"
"Hey! What are you doing?" Shana asked the guards. Even trough they where obviously doing their job. That made them stop to look back, and in result made the zebra escape.
"Your highness, that zebra was taking a shower in the fountain, which is illegal. He was also armed, so we just tried to arrest him and question him." However it seemed that those words flew around her head. Somehow, in some kind of delusion, believed he did nothing wrong.
"Nonsense! Don't you see in what poor state his clothes are?" She said, somehow not realizing he had a brand new scimitar strapped with a leather belt.
"But your highness, he was armed with a brand new scimitar." But she ignored the comment of Amir.
"Now go and repay the zebra for scaring him!" After hanging their heads, the guards obeyed. 'She is still too young...' Amir though as he motioned for his brother to follow.
"I hope she will learn not to judge others so quickly." Jikar mumbled as his brother nodded as they started following the zebra.
Author's Note
Well this is an idea that I've had for a while, so I just wrote it. I'm not sure when I'll update this story with new chapters, since I have a lot of things to take care of. Sorry if the wait will be too much.
