Nights of the Hollow
The Coming Day of Darkness
Load Full StoryNightmare Night was fast approaching the land of Equestria. All across the globe, ponies and other creatures were carving pumpkins that they would eventually transform into jack-o'-lanterns, and decorations were aplenty. One construct in particular, the Golden Oak Library, was covered by them. Within the confines of the library itself, Spike the Dragon and Twilight Sparkle the Alicorn were enjoying some relaxation. They had appeared normal to their friends for years at this point. However, behind closed doors, the two had secretly embraced the Gothic lifestyle. It all began when Twilight had finally gotten around to the fiction section four years ago. It took a little more time, but she eventually found the first vampire novel she would ever read; The Vampire Tapestry. It told the story of a doctor named Edward Lewis as he tried to discover what kind of being he really was. Upon reading it, Twilight was immediately hooked. Currently, she was reading a more well-known novel, Interview With The Vampire. It struck her as interesting how much most vampire novels focused on the supernatural aspects while a select few deviated from that path.
Spike was no stranger to the novels either. Twilight had considered the possibility that he had even found the novels before her, but this was unlikely, as he had gradually embraced the same lifestyle, like herself. What set Spike apart was his attraction to another type of genre as well; Gothic romance. He was always a hopeless romantic at heart, but the novels gave him a fresh perspective on the subject. He began to teach himself how to be more seductive and mysterious. This had led to an unforeseen development in his relationship with Twilight. Because of his new confidence and his slim, toned, adolescent build, a certain attraction began to form. He no longer believed Rarity would reciprocate his feelings, and Twilight was freely embracing his new changes. With their already established trust, there was no fear or awkwardness. It came as second nature to both of them. In fact, just for fun, he was getting ready to display aforementioned confidence to tease Twilight.
"Twilight...," Spike spoke ever so softly.
Twilight put down her book and looked up at him. His hand was at his side; his thumb slightly encased by one of the dark jean pockets.
"You're driving me crazy," Twilight said playfully.
"Maybe you need a doctor."
"Maybe I do."
Spike made his way over to his lover and slowly, delicately spread his trench coat, revealing his white tank top and cross necklace. He knelt down to meet her at eye level.
"Hmmm. You look a little stressed. Maybe we should check your blood pressure."
Twilight tilted her head, revealing her neck.
"You're the doc."
Spike place his glove-covered palm on Twilight's face. The warm leather sent chills through her body. He then lightly nipped at her neck, careful not to actually break the skin. There was a contented look on the Alicorn's face.
"Keep this up and I'll have to stake you."
"Who says I'd have a problem with that?"
"You're just a bad vampire dragon, aren't you?"
"You know it."
"You know what I do to bad dragons?"
"What's that," Spike asked, knowing full well what was about to happen.
Twilight pressed her hoof on his chest, and kissed him. She was so forceful that Spike was forced to the floor.
"The maiden reversal. Nice one."
"Don't underestimate my own seductress skills."
"Never."
"If you were old enough, I'd take you right here."
"Apparently. You won't have to wait too much longer, though."
"I can be patient when I need to. A couple years won't kill me."
Spike saw through her cool demeanor.
"You're cute when you pout," he told her as he began to play with the double knotted cross on her ear. His playfulness made her feel a little better.
"I am not," she pretended to lie.
"I'll tell you what. You put on some music and I'll grab us a couple sodas."
"Sounds like a plan."
Twilight released her dragon partner and he went into the kitchen. Twilight whistled at him on his way out of the room.
"You won this round, Mr. sexy dragon."
Twilight turned on the radio. Heavy rock began to play at a low volume.
Spike and Twilight hung out for a little while in the main room. They played games, read books, and continued to tease each other with occasional nip or arousing noise. a couple hours later, there was a knock at the door. They quickly turned off the music. Spike went upstairs while Twilight removed her cross earring. When she answered the door, Pinkie was standing in her view.
"Hey pinkie. What's up?"
"I couldn't sleep! I'm too excited for Nightmare Night! I was wondering if you had any good stories to read!"
A grin formed within Twilight.
"Sure thing. Come on in."
Pinkie entered the library. It was still a little messy from the food and books.
"Were you having a party without me," Pinkie frowned.
"Me and Spike were just having a bit of fun."
"Oh, okay!"
Twilight placed the cross back into her ear.
"Ooh, what's that? It's shiny!"
"I have an idea, Pinkie. Why don't you stay here for tonight?"
"Like a slumber party?"
"Sure. Why not."
"YAY!"
"Spike, come down! We have a new recruit!"
Within a short frame of time, the dragon emerged from the upper level of the building.
"Woah," was all Pinkie could muster when she saw the eloquently dressed being before her. She could feel her face getting warmer as she blushed.
"Hey Pinkie. What's up?"
"She stopped by to borrow some Nightmare Night stories. I convinced her to stay the night."
"Well," Spike said as he took his place by Twilight, "we can't disappoint our guest can we?"
"Oh, we certainly wouldn't want to do that."
Twilight and Spike made out right in front of Pinkie before stopping to gauge her reaction. Pinkie's face was nearly completely crimson.
"Well, what do you say we stay up late tonight and entertain ourselves," Twilight suggested while she turned the music back on.
"I think that's a good idea," Spike responded. They both looked at pinkie, who was still as red as a rose. She simply nodded.
"Then it's settled," Twilight finished.
The two of them led Pinkie to fiction section and chose a vampire novel they thought would interest her.
"Read this one, Pinkie. It's called 'The Shake'. It's kind of a supernatural mystery book."
Pinkie took the book and returned to the center of the room. She began to immerse herself in its contents. Twilight and Spike simultaneously chuckled as he knelt down and put his arm around her. A goth party pony. This was going to be a treat.
Author's Note
Don't take this fic too seriously, guys. I was just trying to write something more fun and positive for a change.
