The Refugee

He winced as the flames almost seared his scaly tail he could practically taste the pain that he was about to experience, but he had pulled it away in time and was running beside a silver-gray wolf who was slightly bigger then him. They were headed for the safety of the trees. His ears pricked as he heard what sounded like a roaring lion a screeching eagle and a howling coyote all rolled into one blood curdling shriek, he looked back, that was mothers call. He stopped dead in his tracks

"Mamma!?" He called back... No response. He was breathing heavily and his heart rate had increased.

He felt a pinch on his neck as Silver bit down into his scruff and dragged him into the trees before she released her grip "Don't stop! We have to keep running!" She command stomping one of her paws to the ground.

He looked at her then he looked back at the ravine ware the herd made their nests, horror on his face "B-But Ma and pa!" He stammered, trying to keep his balance.

Silver shook her head "No" she said firmly "we run. No ma, no pa, Just run!" She said turning to the forest.

He was crying now and balled him self up on the forest floor, tucking his head under his tail, soaking it in tears "S-Silver... I'm... So scared" he whimpered and looked back up at her.

She frowned and nuzzled his forehead "I know, Discord... Me to" at that moment a roar rang out close by.

She pulled him to his feet and they started running again. They would never look back.

Discord yawned as he opened his eyes. He looked around to see no one else was in the cave. He groaned "it's to early for this shit..." he muttered, stretched and padded out of the cave on all fours, He could walk on his his hind legs or all fours, but found the latter more comfortable then the former. He stepped out of the cave and growled as the sun hit his eyes, he shifted for a second before he adjusted to the light. He sniffed around for a minute, he could smell her but it was faint.

"Silver?" He called, rearing up on his hind legs like a meerkat. After he got no response within a minute so he called agen "Silver?! Ware are you?" He sniffed again only to be met with little more then the sent mountain air and melting snow.

After a minute or two he saw a silver-gray wolf with similar coloured wings to her body flying towards him and decided to lower back onto all fours.

When she landed he had noticed she was practically emitting electric bolts and she was smiling "What's got you in such a cheerful mood?" He asked, waving his eagle claw in a bored manner.

She stretched out one of her fore paws and handed a map to Discord "what do ya think?" She questioned as she flicked her ears

He looked at the map for a moment before responding "it's perfect" he said breathlessly.

Silver smiled "I know right! And better yet, it's only three days from here!"

Discord tilted his head "three days? I saw you last night!"

Silver looked obviously confused, But then she seemed to get it "Oh! No I meant walking distance!" She walked into the cave, waving her tail as she walked.

Discord followed her. The cave was simple enough. They knew it well however. It had been there camp for over three years. It was about five meters tall and seven meters wide in most parts, It ran down about a half a kilometre into the huge mountain before it opened up into a large chamber. They were there within about five minutes, thanks to there uncanny ability to run for miles without tiring in a fair amount of time.

The chamber had wooden floors that Silver had conjured when they found it, it was lit by torches embedded into the wall that were enchanted never to go out and it had several shelves staked with potions and charms that were more a hobby to the two then actually nessasary for their survival, They slept on nests of blankets and pillows on the floor.

Discord leaned on a table he had summoned for them to eat at during thair stay. Then something occurred to him "hay wait a second... Did you say walking distance? I have wings you know" he unfurled his large, mismatched wings and flapped them to further emphasize his point

Silver nodded and stuffed blankets and potions into a duffle bag with her paws witch, like his, had opposable thumbs. "Well the flight wold be shorter bu-"

Discord cut her off and waved his lions paw "then we'll fly. After all n-"

Silver growled at him and stomped a paw on the wooden floor

He smiled nervously. One would think that after three thousand years of being companions with Silver that he would know not to interrupt her. He twitched his tail "Sorry, sorry, continue"

She stopped growling and smiled "But~" she purred in a vary un-canine-like fashion "flying requires more energy and we would have to take several breaks which would effectively make the journey longer... so" she twitched her tail in annoyance and kept stuffing things in bags

He paused, not happy with her answer "well then how did you get there and back in nine hours?" He started to help her pack

She shrugged "portals" she flew up to the roof and started unhooking the large chains and meathooks

Portals were only able to be used if the user had been to that location in the past

He groaned "so I have to walk?!"

She smiled "afraid so, my winged friend" she dropped back to the ground and continued to pack

Discord snorted "you have wings to ya know"

Silver's eyes went wide and she gasped in mock shock, looking back at her outstretched wings "my god! I hadn't the slightest clue! Thank you, oh great and powerful Discord!" She bowed to him with her wings

Discord rolled his eyes "that was completely unnecessary" but he couldn't help but giggle a little "but I do appreciate the reconstruction for my immense power, my friend"

She smiled and laughed "you wish! You know I'm more powerful then you" she sat on the floor, looking at him with a playful look on her face, tail wagging.

Discord reared up and crossed his arms "if I recall correctly, I beet you in that competition we had a few months ago" he said approaching her threateningly.

She shrugged and undid her cloaking spell. Her spiralling horns flickered into existence and she unsheathed her cat-like claws "I will fight you" she began packing again

Discord lowered back down and helped "I still won" he whispered in her ear

They were finished by night fall, they knew this because thay could smell the air cool

Silver stretched and yawned "we leave at first light"

Discord nodded "Ok but don't blame me if you have to drag me out" he was about to curl up in his bed when his hackles rose and his ears twitched "Silver," he sniffed the air. It's back he thought " I think we should eat first"

Silver looked at him "Okay... well it's my tern if I recall correctly... so... I'll be back?" They padded out of the cave, Discord lookin around nervously.

Discord nodded "Sounds good. I'll be here" he gestured to the night sky "see ya"

The silver-furred wolf looked at him for a moment with obvious concern before she nodded. She ran off the ledge and unfurled her large wings and beat them a few times, launching her into the night sky.

He waved her off. When she was out of view he growled "Okay, Discord... You've won this game before ... you can do this" he reassured himself before running back into the cave.

He quickly emerged into the huge chamber within a minute or two. He didn't have to look long before he spotted his enemy target on the table. it was staring at him and he at it.

It had a brown body and beady black eyes that stared into his vary soul. the rat is back he thought.

He chuckled as he cautiously approached the table on his hind legs. He smiled, showing off his large, sharp carnivorous teeth. He flexed his lion claws out of thare sheaths and curved his talons to the palm of his claw. The rat stared at him and twitched it's pink nose.

Discord unfolded his wings slightly "Okay mr.rat sir... I'm here to send you back to ware you belong...huh? Where you ask? Why hell of course. Ware else?" He was at the table and snatched up the rat in his paw by the middle and ran to the entrance

The rat screeched and clawed at the chimaera all the way out. When they emerged, Discord conjured a plate put the rat on it and through the rat as far as he could over the cliff like a frisbee "and stay out!" He exclaimed.

Silver landed next to him a second later, a small brown sack in her jaws, looking in the direction the rat and the plate flew away to their doom. She sighed "was that necessary?" She asked as she padded into the cave

Discord frowned and shrugged "he just wold have come back again. I don't like unwanted house guests" he was back on all fours now

Silver scoffed "we are leaving tomorrow ya know"

Discord paused for a moment "oh yah. I forgot about that" he continued forward

Silver rolled her eyes "let's eat" she jumped onto his back and kneaded his flesh with her claws, causing blood to drip and Discord to hiss in pain

He twisted his head around and glared at her "why!?" He screeched

She shrugged and immediately stopped "that's karma and or pay back for the rat. You'll be fine" he hovered her paw over the open wound and healed it, instantly it sealed and the fur grew back over the new skin

Discord sighed "fair enough I suppose"

That ate berries and rabbit and want to sleep on the floor. It wouldn't take too long for morning to come. And then that wold set off.
