With preparation for the Friendship Games between Canterlot High School and Crystal Prep Academy almost completed, and the games to start the following day, Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna felt proud of how their students put a lot of hard work into the preparations as they look around the school.
“It’s a beautiful sight, would you believe Luna?” Principal Celestia asked her sister.
“It truly is sister, though I do hope we won’t have anything like the Fall Formal or the Battle of the Bands, during the games” Vice Principal explained, knowing what became of the Fall Formal and the Battle of the Bands due to the magical interference and the abusive usage of it.
“And since you brought that up, I believe its time, we talk about what are going to do in regards to security” Principal Celestia tells her sister, as their smiles fade to concerned looks.
The two sisters return to Celestia’s office where they start their discussion in regards to security for the Friendship Games.
“Do you think it’s wise, to use them for the games?” Vice Principal Luna asked her sister, who was still trying to come up with a decision.
“That’s the thing, we won’t just have ours, but Dean Cadence told me that Principal Cinch is planning to bring hers along as her ‘Personal Bodyguards’ even if it’s really unnecessary to have all fifteen operatives, so if we use ours and theirs, we will have up to thirty active operatives, even though just five would be enough” Principal Celestia states but continues, “but I think if we just talk to our operatives and see what they think, I mean remember sister; every one of our operatives are going to become Special Forces after graduation”.
“Alright, let’s go see them” Vice Principal Luna tells her sister.
The two Principals, soon head to their bookcase and then activate a set of buttons to reveal an elevator, the two then enter and head down to CHS’s secret basement to talk to CHS’s ultimate secret.
(The next day)
The following day comes round and the Friendship Games are about to hit off as soon Crystal Prep Academy arrives, but Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna still have some concerns.
“Well, I’ve gotten word from our operatives that, they’ve talked to their respected operatives from CPA, and they said they’re already started making plans for security during the games” Vice Principal Luna tells her sister.
“I just hope they won’t use full lethal force, especially ours, since a lot of their futures all the same” Principal Celestia explained.
Soon Crystal Prep Academy arrives with at least two buses with their competitors and to Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna’s surprise, the buses were joined in formation were two Interim Fast Attack Vehicles (IFAV), and a two LAV-25 troop carriers.
As the Shadowbolts leave the bus, a few of them look at the military vehicles in confusion, and soon the Shadowbolts see armed operatives exit the vehicles.
“Alright guys, let’s go!” One of the Operatives shouts to the others.
“Come on, we don’t have all day!” Another Operative tells his comrades, as a few were forming up behind him.
The Shadowbolts were very surprised, but their focus got back onto the Friendship Games, as they were prepped to be escorted into the school by Vice Principal Luna and Dean Cadence, when Dean Cadence talks to the Operatives.
“Alright Security, be sure to meet up and make talks with your air support before joining us in the auditorium” Dean Cadence tells them and they respond by saluting her and nodding their heads.
Soon everyone else was enters the school, while operatives ran through their operations before being sent inside.
(CHS Auditorium)
The two schools contenders remained at bitter terms, despite Pinkie Pie’s work to get them to mingle, however before everyone could be dismissed, Cinch makes an announcement to everyone.
“As you know, you may have seen heavily armoured individuals outside, but to make sure you don’t make any ridiculous assumptions, they are Crystal Prep Academy’s private security team, and may I add the best in the state” she stated in her cold attitude, and soon on que the members of Crystal Prep Academy’s private security team enter the auditorium.
When they entered, everyone was shocked including the Shadowbolts as each and every one of them had full military equipment; military issue tactical vests and uniforms, Special Operation tactical helmets with some having night/thermal vison goggles and to top it all off, each one had military issue firearms, M4, M16A4, M249 Light Machine guns, three had HK417 on their backs and each of them with M9 sidearms in their holsters.
“As you can see, we at Crystal Prep take no nonsense when it comes to security and they are prepared for any situation” Cinch adds, however the security operatives don’t batter a look to her or the Shadowbolts.
“Do you actually believe you’re the only ones who have a security force?” Vice Principal Luna asked quite sharply, causing Principal Cinch and Dean Cadence to look surprised.
“Well I’m guessing they’re in for a surprise” Principal Celestia responds and pulls out a tactical radio from her pocket, “All operatives to the auditorium” she adds and just a second later, CHS’s version of the security teams enter, bearing the same equipment and firearms.
Everyone felt tense and scared, more so than Fluttershy who was hiding behind Rainbow Dash and Applejack, it was one thing to have a very bitter rivalry between schools, but this was out of the ordinary to have militarised operatives taking part, some felt a massive firefight would emerge, however any of those thoughts the students would have went out of the door, when one of the operatives from the CHS security team did the following.
“YO! Where’s my Frogman?!” the lead CHS security operatvive asked with his arms out, walking towards the CPA Security team.
“Right here brother!” one of the CPA Operative returns and embraces the hug as the two operatives chuckled.
The CHS operative breaks the hug and continued the bright atmosphere, “Great to see you man! How you boys handling it?” he asked the CPA operatives.
“Doing well brother, good to see more Team guys here” the CPA operative responded while the other security operatives kept up the same friendly atmosphere as they all welcomed each other.
This shocked everyone; shouldn’t they hate each other, cause of their school backgrounds? But they all remained friendly with each other. But who was shocked the most was Principal Cinch, who was not very happy.
“What is this?! I will not have my security force be tainted by your hoodlums!” Cinch barked.
But the lead operative from CPA responds with one very striking response “You can’t taint what’s already been tainted Cinch”.
The entire auditorium was shocked, everyone felt the anger boiling in Cinch, but the security operatives showed no signs of fear or regret.
“All CPA operatives report to your posts immediately!” Cinch demanded, but all of the CPA operatives didn’t move an inch.
“Sorry Principal, but the Security Act of 2004 states that the host school Team Leader takes command of arriving security forces, and I’m sure as Principal you would know that” the lead CPA operatives continued defying the Principal of CPA.
“Security Personnel, please let’s be reasonable here, as Principal she does have full authority over the security team” Dean Cadence states, hoping to ease the hostile tension between the anger filled Cinch and the defying Security Operatives.
“With all due respect Cadence, they no longer take orders from her, they’re in my world now, so I’ll tell them where they’ll go” The lead CHS operatives states.
Soon on that note, the lead CHS operative leads his fellow operatives and the CPA operatives out of the auditorium.
“Um well, as soon we get the all clear from the operatives, we’ll begin the Academic Decathlon!” Principal Celestia announces nervously.
As the students left the auditorium, Rainbow Dash and the Rainbooms felt worried, sure they were experienced in handing magical related incidents, but this was something new on a major level.
“Any of you know what that was all about?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“I wouldn’t have a clear idea sugercube” Applejack responds.
“I say we find out who they are!” Rainbow Dash states wile
“Uh.. Rainbow Dash, don’t the games start soon?” Fluttershy timidly asked.
“Yeah Dashie, shouldn’t we be prepare for baking?!” Pinkie asked loudly.
“You all heard Principal Celestia, the games won’t start until those operatives gives us the go ahead, so until then, we’ll have plenty of time to find out who or what they are!” Rainbow claimed.
However Sunset Shimmer, who was being more quite than Fluttershy, gets a text from Flash Sentry who just writes ‘If you want to know who they are, go to the library’.
‘How would you know about them, Flash?’ Sunset wondered but decides to take his advice, “I think a good place should be the library, there should be something there we could find about them” She states, and the other agreed, soon the Rainbooms head to the library, however what no one knew is that Sunset had a past with these Operatives.
Learning about the Operatives Part 1
As the Rainbooms looked through the library, they were having a hard time, row by row, book by book, but the Rainbooms have had no luck in finding anything on the operatives.
“Well this was a bust Sunset, we’ve look through everything but there’s nothing!” Rainbow complained throwing the book she held away.
“But I’m sure we’ll find something!” Sunset tells her friends, but in her mind ‘What did Flash mean, by come to the library to find about the operatives’ she thought.
But soon interrupting the Rainboom’s search was the two leaders of the CHS Security Team and CPA Security Team.
“And that something has arrived, and by the look of this place it couldn’t have come at a better time” The CPA Security leader tells everyone, while The CHS Security Leader puts down a laptop and turns it on.
“Wait, before we trust you, you need to tell us who in tarnation you two are?” Applejack tells the two operatives.
“Just call me Pathfinder and he’s Crystal” The CHS operative states, but Rainbow and Pinkie start bursting out laughing.
“You’re names are Pathfinder and Crystal?! That is the funniest names anyone could have!” Pinke Pie laughs as she speaks, however the two Operatives remained silent.
“What no response? Cat got ya tongue?” Rainbow asked still filled with laughter.
“They’re not our real names, they’re our callsigns and you’re not gonna know what our real names our” Crystal responds.
“Look, Flash wanted to tell only you lot who we are and since he’s a good friend of mine who I’ve trusted for years, I’m willing to tell you lot” Pathfinder explains.
The laughter soon stopped, and a question started to run through their minds, ‘How does Flash know about the Security Operatives?’.
“Wait, how does Flash Sentry know about you guys?” Rarity asks the two operatives.
“Well he should, he used to be a Security Operative” Pathfinder explains plainly, causing everyone’s jaw to drop
“Wait hold up a minute here! Are you meaning to tell us, that Flash Senry was a security operative?” Applejack asked.
“Yep and it seems like you lot are having difficulty believing that one of the school’s best guitar players was once a security operative” Pathfinder responds to Applejack.
“But Flash Sentry and a security operative… that doesn’t mix!” Rainbow Dash shouts, trying to put the two together.
“Also if Flash was a security operative, how come he isn’t one now?” Rarity asked putting her hands on her hips.
“Actually that has a simple answer” Pathfinder responds and just shoots a glare at Sunset Shimmer to which Crystal does as well, causing Sunset to be shocked.
“Wait… me? How did I cause Flash to stop being an operative?” Sunset asked.
“From what Pathfinder and the others told me, because of your lust for popularity back in the day and your one sided relationship, you kept him from completing undercover operations, and if you don’t understand that, it’s when he goes around like any other student and looks out for anything suspicious” Crystal explains.
“Getting back on track, Sunset would always get in the way of Flash’s operations, with either dates or other reasons, when three incidents occurred which could have been prevented, Flash was deemed responsible and because of it he was dishonourably discharged from the Security Team on the grounds of dereliction of duty, despite our attempts to convince Celestia and Luna otherwise to organise a temporal suspension” Pathfinder explains.
The Rainbooms didn’t know what to think, however Fluutershy decided to break the silence by asking “Did Flash enjoy being a security operative?”.
“He was one of the best Fluttershy, but that wasn’t the nail in the coffin” Crystal explained.
“What do you mean?” Rarity asked.
“You know the three incidents that were caused? After launching an investigation, it turns out Sunset was the cause of them, once Flash knew about that, he felt betrayed, hurt and above all broken, later he would break up with Sunset, despite her attempts of reasoning” Pathfinder explained.
The Rainbooms look at Sunset who kept her head down and a slight tear was growing in her eyes, however the security operatives decided to show the bright side.
“That being said, we are happy that you have changed for the better for the school, and you have been working hard to stop all the magical interferences, and Flash also shares that mentality with the rest of us” Pathfinder states, which makes Sunset make a small smile.
“But wait a minute, if you guys are security guards, then where were you guys, during the Fall Formal and the Battle of the Bands?!” Rainbow Dash asked rather pointedly.
Pathfinder soon access the laptop to explain the reason why the team never showed up, “To put simply, when Vice Principal Luna told us the fall formal would be postponed to the following day, we thought we’d provide the security for the Primary School’s dance and auction, however we were never told that the Fall Formal was back on schedule, so when we got the call from Celestia to return back to CHS, we had to rush back there, since our transports weren’t gonna be around when we got the call, so when we arrive at the street that lines up to the entrance, we saw that Twilight and the others handled the situation just fine, so we gave the message to Celestia that we were returning to our previous post”.
“Hang on! How do you know Princess Twilight?” Sunset asked raising an eyebrow.
“We’ve known you and Twilight weren’t from this world before you lot found out, because we have overwatch teams that shadow the entrance and we also made sure Celestia was fooled to believe Twilight was a new student” Pathfinder states.
“Wait, if there was fooling around, why wasn’t I included, and how did you fool our great Principal Celestia?” Pinkie Pie asked.
“Fabricated documents, all done by us before Principal Celestia could notice” Pathfinder explains simply.
“Ohhhhh, but that still leaves out one thing, the Battle of the Bands” Pinkie Pie adds.
“Well, from what I’ve been told by the CHS operatives, they saw the rapid change in the students, when they went from kind and co-operative to hostile and independent on a selfish degree” Crystal states.
“Once we saw Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna became under the influence of the Dazzlings, we knew our leadership was compromised, so I activated Security Act Protocol 17 ‘In any event Principal or secondary leadership is compromised, all operatives are to cease all active operations and return to base of operations’ however we saw that Flash was infected by the Dazzlings influence, however he managed to break his control briefly and advise us to not hear anything the Dazzlings sing or say, we took up his advice and once we saw that Vinyl Scratch or DJ-Pon 3 was not affected because she was wearing headphones, we knew we had to stop the Dazzlings, but you lot had the situation under control, so our mission was something else” Pathfinder explains.
“And the something else was?” Applejack asked, folding her arms.
“Before I show, let me ask you something; any of you know what happened to the Dazzlings after the Battle of the Bands?” Pathfinder asks the Rainbooms, to which no of them were able to answer. Soon Pathfinder talks to the laptop “Access archives, Subject: Operation Stolen Note” and the laptop soon plays what Operation Stolen Note is about and what it involves with the Dazzlings.
(Several Weeks earlier – During the Finals of the Battle of the Bands)
The members of the CHS Security Team, begin to prepare for operations, they start to put on their tactical gear and loading their weapons, and soon they report to the Base of Operation war room, where Pathfinder prepares to brief the team.
“Alright listen up; everyone is now at the community stage, near the town’s football grounds, our mission is to capture the Dazzlings for interrogation, the original plan was to have the Rainbooms defeat them, and we capture them, however Avatar has reported that Trixie and the Illusions have imprisoned the Rainbooms before the show, so we’ll have to go with situation that’s going to have us to use snipers and ghillie suits, so here is the plan; we’ll split into three teams, one sniper team and two strike teams, the sniper comprised of Butcher, Vincent and Lambert and Oxide will provide overwatch and if necessary execute the sniper mission, also Butcher will provide the drone feed to the two strike teams, which will be led by me and Avatar” Pathfinder briefs the team.
“On that note, Team One will be comprised of Pathfinder, Sentinel, Paladin, Victor, Misfit and Granite. Team Two will be me, Warhammer, X-ray, Spectre and Disciple” Avatar explains the teams.
“Alright, also remember do not take off your headsets, unless you want to become another of the Dazzling’s infected minions” Pathfinder warned.
“Yes sir!” the operatives saluted and soon made the final checks and soon leave the base of operations
(Later – Outside the Community Stage)
The security operatives move towards the community stage, with the sniper team heading to the hills and set up the snipers and the drone feed, while Pathfinder and Avatar lead the strike teams’ move into position.
“Pathfinder 0-1, this is Butcher 0-7, we’re setting into position, drone feed will be up win 30 seconds” Butcher tells Pathfinder.
“Understood Butcher, tell Vincent and Lambert to start scouting the stage and Oxide to set security” Pathfinder orders his teammate.
“Copy that Pathfinder, Butcher 0-7 out”.
Soon Vincent and Lambert soon find the Rainbooms freed from their imprisonment and prepared for a musical showdown and one of the other hills.
“Pathfinder, this is Lambert, I have eyes on the Rainbooms, they’ve seem to be ready to have a showdown with the Dazzlings” Lambert explains to Pathfinder.
“Understood Lambert, keep up posted. Alright listen up, looks like the Rainbooms are ready to take on the Dazzlings, but we will continue the mission as planned, Avatar; you and Team Two take the left side of the stage, while Team One and I will take the right, let’s move!” Pathfinder orders his fellow operatives.
Soon the team went into waiting as the Rainbooms and the Dazzlings battled, however it wasn’t without any wonders and a few of the security operatives stared in awe as the Rainbooms created the massive alicorn creation to defeat the Dazzlings, soon the sniper team tells the strike teams that the Dazzlings are defeated, which got the operatives into position and ready, and soon when the Dazzlings are jeered off the stage, the three sirens soon get surrounded by the security operatives with their firearms pointed at them.
The Dazzlings raised their arms into the air and were going to shout that they’re come quietly, but Misfit, Granite and Victor, tackle the Dazzlings onto the ground, binding their hands then their mouths to prevent them from causing any attention, soon the three get their heads into head sacks and are taken away.
“Butcher 0-7, this is Pathfinder, HVTs captured, we’re done here, head back to base!” Pathfinder orders the sniper team.
“Understood Pathfinder, We’re RTB” Butcher responds and the sniper team heads back to base along with the strike teams.
