Blessed by the Waves

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

None in the town to the south heard anything that night. Not the sound of wind nor the wails of the sea. Come morning they realize one of their newest residents is missing, and as they are truly kind folk they organize a search party that scours the shoreline all day long and the port as twilight nears.

The lad is found sleeping upon the sands beside the furthest dock of the port under an old half rotten skiff. Salt clings to his silver white mane, his sea blue coat a few shades lighter due to the bleaching of the ocean he slept by all night. His cutie mark, so often covered by saddlebags, is that of two glowing lights of silver upon an ocean blue cresting wave. The townsfolk take him home as the night grows cold and the ocean dark.

They whisper as they leave his home, the young stallion tucked into his bed with shades drawn to rest awhile longer; about how he must be blessed by the waves. It’s not often one who goes missing by the bay is found again. Not in the town of Neighgunquit at least, where legends say things stalk the shore and sea during the hours of ocean twilight.

Author's Note

It seems our fair stallion, or changeling, has survived the ocean night.
Or perhaps, things are not as they appear to be.
After all, there are things not yet told in this tale.
Perhaps, another day shall be unveiled.
