Sketchy Clouds: The Roughest Night.
It's A Brand New Day.
Load Full StoryI’m floating over the world, all of Equestria is below me. Though all I can see is just a haze of colors, no faces or emotions, just a blur of movements that are impossible to track. I sit upon a cloud in the sky, yet it feels as if nothing is supporting me.
My parents and sisters are beside me, though I reach out for them and scream. I always fall, the cloud gives away and I plummet. My wings won’t work as the wind around me increases, I can never see the ground coming closer.
But always feel the jolt, when I hit the ground.
I cry out for help, I say my prayers.
If anypony is out there, I guess they just don’t care.
My eyes snaps open widely, the morning sun is pouring into my room. Basking everything around in a warm glow, it is from here I can see my room is a mess. I groan aloud and slam a hoof over my eyes, I will have to add cleaning duty to the growing list of buzz kills on my repertoire.
“Wakey-wakey! Pancakes need to be bakey!” My sister Coco spoke in a sing song voice outside my door.
“I don’t want pancakes...” I sighed back in a defeated tone.
“What?! I’m not your slave! Get up and bake us some pancakes!” Coco smashed hooves hard across my door, the wooden frame shaking in place.
I slid out of my bed with a thud, violet colored mane frazzled out wildly. My blue coat a tangled mess as I quickly swung my door open in anger, dark bags hanging under each eye in annoyance.
“When Mom and Dad get home, I’m telling how I was mistreated.” I hissed aloud softly.
Basket Coco giggled in reply, her wavy orangish brown mane perfectly styled. Her yellow coat brushed to prim delight, those devilish pink eyes filled with sibling mischief.
“That is still two days away, besides I’m the middle child anything that goes wrong, I blame on the eldest Curly Emerald.” Coco smirked towards me with a wink.
“Did you call my name!?” Emerald’s sweet innocent voice called from downstairs in slight alarm.
“No! Just keep washing those dishes!” Coco yelled back with an eye roll.
I could just glare towards her in astonishment, how did such a crooked unicorn such as my sister have so much good fortune? Everything went her way, I looked like a corpse rising from the earth. Yet I bet Coco woke up, looking that fabulous.
“Remember. I like my pancakes with a hint of sugar.” Coco burst out into laughter, cantering down the stairs in delight.
“I got your sugar right here.” I ran a hoof through my mane, dandruff flaking off onto the floor in a large pile.
I gazed down to it in worry afterwards.
I so needed to get that looked into.
Downstairs in the kitchen I flipped and flopped pancakes onto a hot pan, much like a pony would do their first fish they ever caught. In short it wasn’t pretty and neither was I, I had quickly flung my mane in a ponytail and began my labor of hotcakes.
Curly Emerald flipped through a stack of letters from the mailbox, her pink mane in a fountain of curls. When I was just a filly I’d always pretend she had waterfalls of pink, flowing over her shoulders like a calming river.
Her emerald eyes watched each letter in silence, taking in the info with care. It wasn’t everyday Mom and Dad gave her the reigns, so she liked to put on a mature face. Honestly though she is far more immature than myself on a normal day, usually by nightfall her pinkish violet coat would be stained by the mischief of the day.
“Om-om-nom! Keepsh ems clumming!” Coco snapped out loud as she seemed to swallow a whole pancake like a duck, the meal simply sliding down her throat.
Or maybe she just eats so much like a parasprite, that my mind starts playing tricks on me. Doesn’t matter which, in my honest opinion my sister should’ve been born a cow.
“How about you take a breather?” I rolled my eyes towards her sarcastically.
“How about some more OJ?” Coco squeed softly, a empty glass held up in her hooves.
“Emerald why did you even wash the dishes!? What does Coco have on you?” I grumbled as I snatched the glass away from my annoying sister.
“I don’t want to talk about it. Let’s just say it is dead and buried.” Emerald raised a thin brow to Coco who smirked.
“As dead as I could make it, but buried in a shallow grave. Just in case I need it again.” Coco winked as I slid her back her glass, she was as happy as a filly in a hay and oat store.
“Hmmm.” Emerald blinked long lashes delicately, eyes fallen upon a letter in her hooves.
“Is everything ok?” I asked her with a soothing tone to my voice.
“I...need to...Coco you are in charge.” Emerald spoke in a flustered tone, as she jumped off the chair beside the kitchen table, almost stumbling over in the process.
“Alright! Abusement of power! “ Coco bit her lower lip softly, grooving to her luck of the draw.
“Emerald!?” I whined softly as my sister simply bolted out of the kitchen, I tried to follow only to have my muzzle pop into a sticky syrup covered plate.
I hit the ground like a ton of bricks, my face sticky and wet. Coco gazing down to me with a sly wink, holding the plate upside down in her magic as she allowed the gooey mess to fall upon my coat.
“Where you going Sticky-Hooves? I want my next plate to be a triple stack of goodness!” Coco dropped the plate on my chest softly, while I could hear the front door swinging shut with a thud.
I’d get to the bottom of this, as soon as I filled up the bottomless pit that was The Grand Coco Canyon.
