Epilogue

Six weeks later

“Hey Flitter, come down stairs. Our grades have arrived” Cloudchaser shouted as I slept in.

I rubbed my eyes and sat up. “Huh?”

“Grades… Have… Arrived” Cloudchaser said slowly as if I was stupid.

My eyes widened and my heart pace immediately picked up. “Grades here? Right now?”

“Yes, yes. Grades are here right now.” Cloudchaser finished before shooting back down stairs.

My heart beating wildly I immediately flew out of bed without worrying about my mane and darted down stairs, hastily grabbing the slip on the table addressed to me. “How did you do?” I asked as Cloudchaser read her own grades.

“I passed everything” Cloudchaser said smugly. “Only just though, I got fifty one percent in maths.”

I opened the slip and let the paperwork roll out on the table, my heart hammering. I picked up the first sheet containing my maths grades. I looked at the overall score and a lump appeared in my throat. I got seventy five percent overall. That couldn’t be right, I got over ninety in all my assignments and tests. I looked at my final exam grade, I got forty eight percent. I failed my maths exam. I felt my eyes begin to tear up.

“Flitter what’s wrong? You didn’t fail did you?” Cloudchaser asked sympathetically.

I shook my head and handed her my maths sheet. “I failed my maths exam” I croaked. “I probably failed the rest as well.”

I checked all my other grades. I did well in most, but my exam grades let me down in every other subject as well. English, total of eighty five percent with an exam grade of sixty five. Chemistry, total of eighty percent with an exam grade of sixty three, all my other subject repeated the same.

“You only failed one” Cloudchaser said giving me a hug, “and you passed everything really well.”

“I won’t be able to do much with these grades” I sniffed. “I did average.”

“No you didn’t Flitter, you did good.”

I shook my head, tears leaking down my face. “I’ll end up on the Ponyville weather team with grades like this.”

“hey. Hey” Cloudchaser whispered. “It’s alright, maybe joining the weather team won’t be a bad thing. Look, I’ll join the weather team and then we can spend more time together right?”

I nodded, tears still falling, my dreams crushed. “In the meantime I can study more to do what I want to do” I muttered. I suddenly felt a little better. not all hope was lost. I could still be a weather engineer; I only need to study for a little longer. I smiled at Cloudchaser, my tears still leaking. “You’re right; I’ll just study more while working on the weather team for bits.”

Cloudchaser responded with a hug. “It’ll be all good, everything will work out. I promise.”

The next few years will be a challenge for Cloudchaser and I, however our relationship continues to grow as does our love for each other. We don’t care that we are sisters; we hardly even refer to each other as sisters anymore. We are partners, lovers and like all couples we enjoy every waking moment together and we just want to spend every waking moment together, in each other’s hooves until the day we die.

Sure we both have our differences, sure we both have different dreams and sure we can argue a lot even for a couple. But we both share one passion and that is each other. I will love my partner, my sister Cloudchaser until the day I die.
