"So, how much longer?" The third companion of the trip asked. "Long as it needs to be." Daring replied. "I won't lie. It'd be nice to finally get some action once in a while."

"We came here for research, not to invoke the wrath of whatever lives here." Twilight said. "Then again, this map has a blurb on it that states that only one Equestrian has ever come out of here alive. It was assumed that he killed off his teammates just to have the treasure inside, but he seemed very close to them. He didn't take any of the treasure either."

"And that's what we're here to find out. The secret of the Lost Cave! Not my most ambitious story, but hey. Whatever gets my blood pumping." Daring shrugged.

"No wonder Dash likes you." Sunset remarked as they exited the deep jungle terrain. "Maybe even likes you-likes you."

"Sorry, but I'm not into mares. Go easy on her when you tell her that." Daring replied.

"Noted." Twilight said as the cave came into view. "There it is. Judging by this map, we should be in and out of there in 6 minutes."

"6 minutes? Whoever buried the treasure here must have been short on time or brain cells." Sunset said. "Unless he buried it real well."

"Eh. Maybe a good death trap or two will balance out the boredom." Daring said. "Let's go!"

"I take it you came along for the nostalgia factor, eh, Twi?" Sunset asked.

"Yeah. I've got to take a break from my duties as a princess sometimes, after all." Twilight replied.

"Same thing with school. Should have seen what happened in Chemistry. Take my advice. Never let Snips and Snails near a bear-trap and superglue as long as you live." Sunset advised.

"...Fair enough." Twilight replied.

Soon, they were in the cave. Unlike the stereotypical craggy and rocky caves one would normally see, this one was filled to the brim with exposed roots and large bodies of disease-filled water. It like like a mini-bog inside a hallowed out piece of Earth.

"Why did I bring my casual wear to this again?" Sunset sighed. "Oh, well. It's this or no gold."

"Hmmm...this could well-be the spot for a small but functional ecosystem." Twilight said. "Maybe an undiscovered amphibian or bat."

"Or maybe, the wiseacre hid the treasure in one of these pools." Daring said as their hooves and Sunset's shoes squelched against the ground. "Not a bad idea."

Twilight's horn started to glow. "Be on your guard. This place screams, for lack of a better term, dangerous."

Sunset had read up on dragons recently, so she knew where her friend was coming from. If only her version of Twilight was here to see this. Then again, the though of two Twilights in the same room was an uncertain thought. Before her thoughts could drift to those Twilights making out (to which she mentally slapped herself in the head for that), a horrible roar was heard.

It was hard to describe, but it sounded like a distorted wail with heavy breathing and slight growling added to the mix. Whatever lived here was decidedly not normal. Already, Daring had her whip out, Twilight's horn glowed with intense magical energy, and Sunset got out her gun. What? After living through several magical mishaps, one had to be prepared against non-sentient beings.

"Try just to wound. Things are never what they seem." Twilight advised.

"Hey, if you see a dragon or something barreling your way, do you think I'll hesitate?" Sunset replied to that.

"Let's just keep going." Daring yawned as she started to lead the way. "I've taken on tentacle beasts, oversized cats, and maybe the odd dragon or two. With me, you girls should be-"

CHOMP!

From the ceiling, a large suggestive-looking rubbery white neck descended in a flash. It ended in a circular lamprey-like mouth, which had now enveloped itself around Daring's waist. Due to her shock, she couldn't react fast enough, allowing the suction of it to take hold and grip around her.

Twilight and Sunset, with a gasp, immediately opened fire with their respective weapons. All this did was scare off the beast into a hole in the ceiling, where it crawled away to safety, though not without a few burn marks. The outraged muffling of the adventurer could be heard for a while, but it got drowned out by the wet noise made by the monster's crawling.

"The fuck was that?!" Sunset shouted.

"I don't know, but we have to save here before-"

Twilight was interrupted by the same roar, which caused them to cover their ears in pain. When it stopped, two of the same creature had landed onto the floor in front of them.

Now, they were able to get a good look at what they were up against. They had the shape of plump bus-sized wyverns, but they were pale white and eyeless. Most of their veins could easily be seen around their bodies. A long tail ended in a suction cup, which anchored them to the ground. Their wings ended in two stubby fingers. Finally, the long neck ended in a toothy suction cup-like mouth that had no other features. Not even eyes. Still, they started to sniff the area and they instantly knew where to strike.

"That's it! I don't know what corner of Tartarus you crawled out of, but your run ends here unless you let us pass!" Sunset threatened.

Twilight didn't waste time with threats. Daring Do's life at stake, she fired a stream of concussive blasts of magic at them. However, their thick hides prevented any real sort of damage. Nevertheless, the wyverns were pretty steamed. The boldest of them made a big leap for Sunset, landing in front of her as it shrugged off the bullets. Before she could shoot it in the open mouth, it extended its neck like a jack-in-the-box, knocking her into the cave wall.

"Sunset!" Twilight called out before a surge of painful electric volts hit her in the chest, knocking her down to the floor. Apparently, as if their grotesque appearances weren't enough, they could harness the power of electricity. Not that writing that interesting bit of research mattered to the alicorn, as the volts still assaulted her even as she laid defenseless on the ground. Her heart was struggling to survive the assault.

The bold wyvern headed over to Sunset's position, where she clutched her battered chest. Some blood was leaking out of her head from the blow against the wall, but the beast could have cared less. It sniffed the new meat, taking in the feminine smell and some bits of hairspray. She smelled...riveting. Like bacon. Had it had eyes and sentience, it would have chuckled at the irony upon looking at her hair.

The other monster, just to be safe, slammed its tail onto Twilight, dispersing the volts, but nearly crushing her ribcage. Now, she was vulnerable. The wyvern gave her a smell, too. She smelled very unique to the beast, like nothing from the world it came from. Sweet and enough to give the beast a happy smile. It was almost cute. Almost.

The two monsters looked at each-other, nodding as if they've been through this a few times already since getting here. Life was good to them, after all. What followed sealed the fates of the two.

Twilight gasped as her shirt was ripped off by the monster's jaws, with her pants following suit from the tail's suction. She was too busy clutching her stomach to cover herself, no matter how embarrassed she was. She had found it. The treasure of the cave. So many golds, silvers, and coppers. It wasn't a complete treasure trove, but it was something to behold, still. "Jackpot." Daring said. "You know, this belongs in a museum, but I think I deserve maybe a teeny bit of-"

Daring frantically tried to fly away, but she was fried even further when the beast surged with electrical energy, causing her heart to beat way too fast.

"NNNNNNRRGGGG!!!" Her eyes rolled into the back of her head as the pain overtook her entire body. It twitched uncontrollably before the beast stopped. She couldn't move or speak after that was over with. All she could do was watch as the monster licked her chest, earning a weak moan from her.
