Chapter 1, An Ordinary Day, Or So I Thought

Ah, school. Don't you just love it? The knowledge, the social life, not to mention the future that it can give you. Of course everyone loves it, although their's is a little more... Uh, drastic, compared to mine. My passion for knowledge is as far as it can get, not to brag, but even Principal Celestia noticed my academic activities from when I was just a young girl.

But nowadays it's been uneventful. Boring, even. What has gotten into me, I too wonder. That's how I found myself in the soccer field with one of my closest friends, Rainbow Dash. Unfortunately, I had asked both her and Applejack for some advice on my situation, and Rainbow had said everyday is an adventure in the fields. Applejack didn't exactly agree, but wasn't disagreeing either. Uncharacteristically, she just replied, and she and I quote, "eeyup."

And now.... I'm lying on the grass caked in sweat. Rainbow Dash hovered over me with a raised eyebrow.

"You're gonna give up, just like that?!" She exclaimed in a dramatic fashion.

I rolled my eyes grumpily, "yes." I heaved another breath as my vision went black momentarily as I closed my eyes.

"Aw come on, Twilight, I thought you were bored! This should've entertained you," she pursed her lips.

"No, it entertains you! I know what you're thinking, Rainbow Dash. 'Haha, egghead can't beat me 'cause I'm so awesome," I told her with a sarcastic, and a very badly imitated, voice.

She chuckled and held out a hand, "okay, you got me, that was a bit shallow though," she grunted as she heaved me up, and I almost staggered from jelly-like feet. "Hey, if this doesn't do the trick, mind trying something else? The team will be here in about 12 minutes," Rainbow Dash said as she mentally estimated, although if it was accurate, no one was sure.

A sigh from below made the prismatic haired girl look down at me in sympathy.

"Look, if you're looking for something to get your mind off of, try asking Fluttershy. Don't know about you but she seems to keep my mind off of things," Rainbow said deep in thought, as if really, genuinely, trying to help.

"Yeah, I think I'll try that," I sighed, and headed towards where I knew I'd spot my pink haired friend.

===============================

Nothing. Everything I did. Nothing. All in vain. I considered banging my head on the wall, but I wouldn't advice it. The frontal lobe is very fragile, considering it is a part of the brain located on your forehead and controls emotions. If it breaks, I'd probably end up in a psych ward or something.

But what do I have to lose?! I'm feeling so miserable, it's questionable, but why?!

I groaned and punched the wall repeatedly, though not as hard as to try and break it. Even Pinkie Pie can't get me out of this! What am I missing?! I groaned even louder and just banged my head once.

"What do I want?!" I shrieked, not taking into account that passing students might hear. Granted, I am in an empty classroom, but one will never know.

"Yeah, what do you want?" An all too familiar voice called behind me, which drew out a groan from yours truly.

Funny I should mention that, huh?

"What do you want, Sunset?" I turned around to face the jock, "can't you see I'm busy?" Crossing my arms, I put my weight on my right foot.

"Busy banging your head on the wall? Yep, as clear as day I can," she replied sarcastically, the space between us causing her minty breath to caress my face softly. "And I asked you first."

"No, I asked me first, but then you asked, so technically, I was first," I deadpanned.

She rolled her eyes, "fine then, four eyes. I want you to come to my party tonight." She held my shocked gaze, which then turned to suspicion.

"What for?" I asked.

"To make your life miserable, and because my stupid parents told me to," Sunset grumbled out the last part.

"Figures," I deadpanned yet again.

She suddenly looked intrigued, then leaned in much closer that I had to lean back a little to avoid any form of contact, but felt the cold surface of the wall from behind. "How 'bout you? What do you want?" She asked in a somewhat husky voice.

The proximity of ourselves made me blush intensely, and her words had my thoughts racing, but then the intensity of her eyes made me speechless and immobile. I didn't talk. I couldn't talk. She had me in her grasp. I couldn't even move! And then... This feeling. This feeling in the pit of my stomach. It was like... Fire, and electricity combined, for a lack of better words. I recognized it all too well, but at the same time, it seemed unfamiliar. Like when you know what is Spanish, but when it is spoken, it seems so foriegn.

But my thoughts halted as she smirked oh so deviously.

"Speechless, Ms. Sparkle?" She taunted through her low toned voice.

"N-no," I squeaked indignantly and pushed her off, scurrying away from the wall as quick as possible. "No. And yes, I'll be there at that party of yours by 8:00 p.m."

I could feel Sunset Shimmer's gaze boring into me like lasers, and could still feel it even when I turned around to walk out of the dreaded room. But suddenly remembering something, I stopped and tilted my head to the side to acknowledge her once more. "And to answer your question," I paused to think a bit, "I don't even know what."

And with that, I headed out, but not before catching her curious but baffled expression that made me giggle internally.

You did it again, Twilight. I smiled and gave myself, mentally mind you, a pat on the back. It seems like turning the tables on a particular princess wannabe does the trick of entertaining yourself.
