Chapter 1: Discovery

It was a clear sunny day in Ponyville when Fluttershy headed out with Angel, her little white rabbit, and her good friend Discord.

"Alright, do we have everything?" The pastel yellow pegasus asked the draconequus.
"Yes, yes, nothing to worry about. If we need anything I can just.." He stretched out a claw, making a parasul appear out of thin air in his paw. "use my magic. Now lets go! I've been looking forward to this all day!"

"Yes, I know that but.. Oh!" Fluffershy was cut off as Discord scooped her up, and poofed to the edge of the Everfree Forest.

There where several grey clouds over the forest, which was strange considering that it wasn't that far from Ponyville. "Oh my, I hope it doesn't rain.. It'll ruin our camping trip." The litte pony frowned as discord started to walk through the woods.

"Oh pish-posh. I'll turn it into chocolate milk, that'll be fun don't you think?" Discord smiled to Fluttershy, who shook her head in disagreement. "Oh fine, be a party pooper. I'll take my magic else wear then." He lifted his snout into the air, in classic sassy flare.

Just then Fluttershy saw something out of the corner of her eye, a shadow.. that sparkled? It moved and then it was gone. Fluttershy thought that she was seeing things. "What was that?" She asked aloud as she coward in Discords arms. Angel tilted his head curiously, having seen the odd shadow and then started to hop in the direction it had had ran off in.

"What was what? " Asked the confused dragon-creature. Fluttershy wasted no time in hopping out of Discords arms and chasing after the white rabbit.

"Wait, Angel!" The pony shouted, taking flight. Angel hopped speedily through the dark woods, and soon found himself much deeper then he intended to go. A large golden colored venus fly trap-looking plant suddenly snapped it's jaws at the rabbit, causing him to jump back and cling to Fluttershy's neck for safety. "Oh dear! I've never seen one of those before.. are you ok, Angel?" The pegasus asked her furry friend as she landed, who nodded, and hopped onto the pony's back and hid under her hair.

Discord finally came running up from behind, "What on earth are you.. Chasing after?" The draconequus questioned, trying to catch his breath.

"There was a strange shadow."Fluttershy sighed, "Little Angel got a bit too excited I guess." She says, looking to the little bunny, who rubbed the back of his head nerviously.
"Well, I'm not sure that you've noticed, but we are currently in the heart of the Everfree Forest, and it's about to storm." Discord pointed out.

Fluttershy looked up, now realizing just how dark it was. "Oh no.. Well we had better set up camp quickly before.." Just then lightening flashed across the sky, and rain started to fall from the clouds. "... it rains.." She says grumplily. Angel looked around for a second before hopping off of Fluttershy, and sat up, moving his ears like little satilite dishes. He then turned to Fluttershy and Discord, motioning for them to follow before continuing deeper into the woods.

"Oh! Angel found shelter!" The pegusas exclaimed softly, following after the white rabbit again.
Discord snorted slightly, and mumbled to himself, "I could have just made a tent.."

As Fluttershy and her friends continued, they found that the trees truly grew more jagged, and many had thorns. There where odd roars and growls that Fluttershy had never heard the likes of before. The pegasus slowed her pace as her fear grew, and so did the lump in her throat. Discord walked next to her, fighting with thorny branches from the trees and bushes.

Finally they came upon a dark dank cave, and Angel continued into it. "Oh, it's so dark.. Discord, would you mind?" The soft spoken pony asked politely.

"Not at all." Discord snapped his fingers, and a hard hat with a light appeared on his head. With a simple twist, the cave was illuminated. In that first second, Discord saw a shadow that sparkled. "Oh! I saw it!" He exclaimed, running in the direction that the mysterious shadow flew to.
Fluttershy ran up behind Discord as he stopped at the entrance of another part of the cave, Angel following after. "You did? The shadow?"

"Yes, it went down this way." He continued through the cave with his friends, and looked around. It then appeared again near another tunnel, and then raced down it. The three of them chased after it as fast as they could, again too caught up in the chase to realize how deep into the cave they where going. The inside of the cave now looked black as night, the walls glissened and shined black. The shadow was now no where to be seen. "Dang it, now where did it go?" Discord looked around.
"I'm not sure.. and I think we're lost.." Fluttershy says, sticking close to the draconequus's side. While the two of them where chatting and looking around, the mysterious shimmering shadow came up behind Angel, and seeped into him like a ghost. The rabbit's eyes glowed a faint red for a brief moment before returning to normal.

"We aren't lost." Discord says, opening his hand infront of himself. There was a small 'poof' and a map appeared in his hand, which just had "You are lost." on it. The Master of Chaos then tossed the map, "We don't need a silly map any way. We just need to put our heads together."
Fluttershy nodded, and went to open her mouth to say something to Angel when she noticed that her beloved rabbit was gone! "Angel? Angel! He's gone!"

Discord looked around, and happened to see the flash of his cotton tail from across the large cavern. "For Pete's sake!" He grumpily went after the white rabbit again.

The pegasus dashed after the rabbit without a second thought. When she finally caught up with the rabbit, he was digging at a large boulder. "There you are! Oh, you almost gave me a heart attack. What did you find?" She finally asked. Angel pointed to the boulder, and hopped up and down. "There's some creature trapped behind it?" Angel nodded to confirm with Fluttershy.

Discord eyed the boulder, “Hmm.." He looked the over sized rock over carefully, getting really Really close to it. "Hmm, there's markings on this boulder.. I don't think that we should open it." He says begrudgingly, “Normally when something is sealed away, it’s suppose to stay that way.

"Oh.. But Angel says there's a young critter in there.. We can't just leave it, I bet they're cold and hungry.." Fluttershy looked up at Discord with the biggest sweetest eyes, on the edge of tears as she thought of how scared the creature must be.

Discord tried not to look, "I know it's hard, but just think, if there's something evil behind there, we'll be responsible for unleashing it." He finally looked down to his friend.

"I know.. but if there's a critter in there, then we have to save it.. I can't bare the thought of leaving a poor little animal alone to die.." The pony looked down, then back up to Discord with tears forming in her eyes. "Can't you just open it a crack? Just enough to let out them out?" Fluttershy pleaded.
Discord sighed, "Fine, but if something other than a woodland creature comes out, it's all your fault." Using his magic, Discord rolled the stone over just a few inches. Angel suddenly ran in quickly, and then rolled out a shiny black egg.

"Oh! It's an egg!" The pony examined it, and was about to roll it over, but realized that there was a sticky black substance was covering the egg. "Oh, that's.. strange.." She turned to Angel, "How did you know this was in there?" She asked, the bunny only shrugged.

"Alright, get your egg, and lets go." Discord rolled the rock back into place. "There's something that really doesn't feel right suddenly, and I don't want you getting hurt, Fluttershy." He then took the egg, and his pony friend, as well as Angel into his arms. After only a moment, they where safely back at the edge of the forest.

"I guess we should get home, and take care of our new friend, right?" Fluttershy smiled to Angel, who smiled back at her.

The trio made it back home, and Fluttershy had made a make-shift nest with a large basket and blankets. Angel had seemed to have taken a liking to laying on the strange egg, even though it was about twice his size. The ooz that the egg was covered in didn't bother him any, and he almost seemed to enjoy it as he rolled onto his back. His fur had turned a mild grey, Fluttershy assumed that it was from the slim on the egg.

Discord was sitting on the small couch, looking intently at the black orb, his chin resting on his fist. "What kind of egg do you think it is?" Discord asked Fluttershy, knowing that she was the animal expert.

"I'm not sure, I almost thought it might be a dragon's egg with how large it is. I've never heard of a dragon's egg being slimy, but little is known of dragons though.." The little pony watched as her rabbit snoozed on the black orb. "I wonder if Twilight might have any books about it."

"Great idea! That bookworm might have something. If not, we could always try.. Celestia's library." The draconequus smirked.

Fluttershy raised an eyebrow at Discords tone, but decided to ignore it for now. "Celestia's library? I didn't know that she had her own.." She questioned, curious on what her friend had in mind. "I'm sure that we wouldn't be allowed in there anyway if it's her personal library.."

"No," Discord leaned over the pegasus, and whispered in her ear. "but I bet that we can get permission from Celestia herself." He grinned mischievously.

Surprised, the little yellow pony looked up to the former Master of Choas. "Do you really think she'd let us?"

"Oh I'm sure her and I can come to some kind of agreement." He stood up, and smirked to himself.
"Well.. alright. Let’s go give it a try then.. I just hope we aren't a bother.." She says, Angel waking up, and stretches.

Discord picked up the gooey egg, and was about to place it on Fluttershy's back when he found that the egg was still very moist, possibly more gooey than before! "Hmm, I guess we should wrap it in a blanket then." Which he did, and put a band around it to keep it secure on the little pony. "There, safe, sound and warm." He says, and turns to leave.

"Angel, you stay here, make sure everyone behaves." The little pony says, more of a request than a demand. When she went to leave, the shadow that had a hold of Angel, followed after her. The bunny's soft white fur turned jet black, and his eyes glowed gold. Turning to his fellow animals, he knew the dark work he had to do..

He must spread his new found joy and corruption..
