If We Don't End War War Will End Us.-H.G. Wells

Mirage walked through the ashes of Ponyville, former ponyville i should say. Things had happened so fast One day Luna was, well, Luna and the next, she had retaken the form of Nightmare Moon, one that had happened she sought out revenge over Celestia, over Equestria, the battle for Ponyville had been lost, along with many other battles. The Lunar Republic had almost every Major city now, Manehattan, Fillydelphia, Cloudsdale, Los Pegasus, and now Ponyville. The Solar Empire had been forced to retreat to Canterlot a while ago, due to many losses in the battlefield. Canterlot was there only hope, this is where they were to make their final stand. Mirage noticed a Shadowbolt piercing through the sky at breakneck speed, right towards him, he quickly dashed inside of what used to be Sugarcube Corner, hoping the Shadowbolt wouldn't find him. Luck seemed to be on his side today.

The inside of Sugarcube Corner had become a miniature battlefield, tables flipped over, glass broken, even a few dead bodies lied on the ground, decomposing in its place. The once pink paint on the walls had now been coated with the crimson color of blood. He opened the door to go behind the counter, accidentally ringing a very loud, cheery bell.

"That's gonna attract some attention" he thought.

He flipped out his switchblade and strapping it to his hoof with the hoof-made strap, almost similar to a belt but with a lot of different attachments, the blade was given to him by the blacksmith in Canterlot. He was quite skilled with it too, it had an engraving in the sword like dagger that was requested by Vinyl. The engraving said "Honey, remember that no matter where you are, im always there with you, in your heart." Every time he read that, he got a little more happier than what he was, he read it when he knew he was in trouble to calm him down.

He heard the door creak open, somepony was in the building with him, they got closer and closer to the counter door, Mirage braced himself for what would come through the door, but the door never opened, instead the other pony had jumped over the counter and flipped him onto his back, pressing their own switchblade to his neck,

This is It he thought, closing his eyes, waiting for the end. The thought of choking on his own blood made him whimper a little.

His opponent breathed heavily on the top of him, finally speaking

"Mirage?" the mares voice asked,

Mirage opened his eyes to see Spitfire, the former Wonderbolt, pinning him to the ground.

"Spitfire?" he asked, trying to move,

"Oh sorry" she said getting off of him,

Once Mirage had gotten up Spitfire looked over at him snickering.

"Whats so funny?" Mirage asked, frowning

"I could have taken you out right there... how did you even pass training?" She asked,

"How'd you manage to get the skin tight Wonderbolts suit off?" Mirage said sarcastically while grinning a little.

"Shut up" she said, turning around, instantly losing her smile, looking at the old building.

"Look at this place... Only a couple weeks ago i came here for a quick bite with Rainbow, but now... I just cant believe that it changed this much, over this short of a time period." she said, breaking the silence.

"I know... It was only a three months ago when I came here for the first time" he said, looking at the run down building

"How are you and Vinyl?" she asked, still studying the building,

"Were Getting By" he said, lamely

"That doesn't sound too hot" she said,

"I mean, with the war and her being pregnant, It's just too much for her right now" he said,

"and? what about you?" she asked,

Mirage sighed, "I'm here" he said,

A long silence was between the two, but finally Mirage spoke up,

"How are you and Rainbow?" he asked,

"We're good" she said,

"When you two first admitted you were fillyfoolers, I was pretty shocked" Mirage said, "I mean, you had a pretty big fan base full of stallions that would date you in a second"

"Every time I was with a stallion... they could never please me, I mean I could please myself better in ten minutes, than any stallion could in ten hours" she said, she wasn't embarrassed to talk about herself like that around stallions after all, she was attracted to mares

Mirage was glad his body armor had pants because he could feel himself bulging from the thought, but cursed himself in his mind thinking of Spitfire like that, over Vinyl.

Mirage hadn't noticed but he had never responded making another silence between the two,

"You okay?" Spitfire asked, knowing what she had caused

"What? Oh! yeah I'm fine!" Mirage said, fumbling with his words

"Yeah. Sure" she said smiling to herself,

"What's with this new body armor?" Mirage asked, poking at the scaly leather armour

"Celestia would usually give them to Elite soldiers, or spies, so they could sneak up on their opponent and..."

Mirage felt a hoof on his chin and the back of his head

"Snap" Spitfire said, whispering in his ear, and moving away from him

"How'd you get so good at this?" Mirage asked, looking towards her,

"I... I used to get bullied a lot in flight school" she said,

"That's something your not alone with sister" Mirage said, patting her on the back

She looked towards him, and her pupils suddenly shrank,

"Get down!" she yelled, tackling him to the ground, before Hoof guns lit up the building, spraying old icing and cracking wood throughout the building,

"You hit?" Mirage asked Spitfire, after the guns stopped

"No, you?" she answered

"No" he replied

"How many do you think there are?" Mirage asked,

Spitfire leaned up and peered through a window where the bullets had come from,

"Three, maybe four" she said,

"Clear the building!" A soldier outside yelled,

They could hear hooves coming around to the entrance of the building, their armor clanking as they walked,

"Get upstairs" Mirage said, pushing Spitfire towards the stairs,

"What about you?" Spitfire asked, while being pushed up the stairs

"I'll be up in a minute or two, okay maybe a couple more than that." Mirage said, grinning trying to shine some happiness on the situation.

Spitfire trotted up the stairs, leaving Mirage who had already flown up and latched to the ceiling above the door, ready for a surprise attack, the three unaware soldiers walked in one by one.

First Mirage dropped behind the last and jammed the switchblade through the back of his head, ending him instantly and quietly, after hiding him behind a table Mirage attached to the ceiling again, The two ponies looked behind them noticing their missing teammate, the mare in the middle started to Panic, Mirage could smell her fear, and loved it, Mirage took the stallion up front next, dropping down next to him and shoving the blade up through the bottom of his jaw until it came out of the top of the stallions muzzle, not letting him speak, slipping out of the switchblades strap, he used the knife handle as a target and bucked it with his back legs, snapping the stallions neck. Mirage knew there was no use in hiding now, for the last pony had watched him preform the kill, and was cowering below the powerful pegasus, begging for mercy. Mirage could almost feel his eyes want to change colors, but stopped them, he had figured out what the two meant, purple to feed, black to infect. While the mare below him sat and begged and cried for her life Mirage almost felt pity for her, almost. he leaned down and whispered into the mares ear,

"Where's your Princess now?"

The mares pupils shrank, this was the end for her, she had picked the wrong side, and she had to pay. Mirage sank his teeth into the mares neck, making her unleash a bloodcurdling scream, which Spitfire heard, The blood was fresh, having only drank out of blood bags before, this was something new, and much better, giving him a short blood lust, he wanted more, and he wanted it now! Hew was shortly stopped by a voice, one with terror and realization.

"Mirage what in Celestia's name are you doing?!" Spitfire shrieked, having never see him feed before,

Mirage took his teeth out of the mares neck and watched the light leave her eyes, then pushed her down, before facing a very shocked Spitfire,

"I'm feeding" he said, with an evil, bloody smile, "Would you like to join us?"

Spitfire had been told what to do in these situations, Mirage was a good pony when he wasn't in a blood lust season which is what they called when he had to feed constantly for a week, but when he was, he was extremely overpowered and ruthless. She took a bottle filled with garlic soaking in water from her pouch, which was specially given to her from Celestia in case of such certain occasion, and splashed him with it, making him back away and emit an ear piercing hiss, until he finally calmed down and fell to the floor, his muzzle dripping blood.

Spitfire sighed and took out her radio

"Yeah, Celestia? It happened again. Don't worry, I got him to calm down." She said this shakily but sturdy at the same time, she didn't think she would have to do this, nor did she want to but, she had to after witnessing the whole scene.
