A New Member Welcomed To The Family

A lot of time had passed and soon Rarity was on the final week of her pregnancy. Rarity was sitting at home, while Sweetie Belle made herself a small lunch, she had gotten heavier from her pregnancy as the result of the baby growing more so she just sat down more often, she wasn't focused on it at that moment though as she was sowing up a pillow.
Meanwhile Twilight was living across from her in a rented apartment as she wanted to be as close as possible to Rarity as she was going to help Rarity deliver her baby when the time came, she was reading about astronomy since it was one of the few books she brought with her from her castle. She didn't worry about her castle though as she had told Spike to take care of her place while she was gone.

As Rarity sowed the pillow up she knew that Rainbow Dash was out exercising, she wondered when Rainbow Dash was going to come home and rest at any point as she wanted to spend time with her as she forgot the time that Rainbow Dash told when she was coming back.

The as she sowed she felt pain wrack through her body, her eyes widened as she gripped the sides of the chair and squeezed her eyes shut, she waited for it to go away, she tried to slow her breathing, she knew that her water had broken and she was far away from the phone.

She thought to herself that maybe it was just in her imagination, she didn't want to scream through it though, so she composed herself, she had to call for Sweetie Belle, she called her name as calmly as she could. Sweetie Belle walked out while humming a tune when she saw Rarity a look of worry spread across her face.

"Rarity what's wrong?" Sweetie Belle asked, with confusion. Rarity looked at her with a look of disbelief on her face as she should know what exactly what was going on as it was pretty obvious.

"I don't know I was just hanging out but it feels like....my body is in immense pain....like my water broke unless I'm experiencing false labor then I don't know how to go about it....call Twilight and Rainbow because I can't spe-OW!" Rarity shouted as she held onto the couch.

Sweetie Belle ran to the phone and knocked it down by accident.
As soon as Twilight picked up Rarity didn't give her time to speak as she franticly told her that she was going into labor.

"Are you sure? Maybe it's just a cramp? I don't mean to act like I don't believe you but sometimes this pain can be mistaken for-" Twilight began to say but was cut off until Rarity let out a moan of pain.

"No! I'm not mistaken it's happening! It feels like it's crushing me from the inside out please Twilight." Rarity begged.

Twilight believed her and told her she was on her way over. Rarity called Rainbow Dash and told her the exact same thing she told Twilight, Rainbow Dash didn't hesitate in stopping her exercise as she headed towards Carousel Boutique.
Rarity tried to take deep breaths as she rode out the contractions, she stopped herself from screaming so she just moaned as she breathed like Twilight instructed, Twilight and Rainbow Dash almost ran into eachother but didn't waste time to talk as Twilight went to open Rarity's door.

The door jammed as they tried to open it, Rainbow Dash panicked as she tried to pull the door open several times but it wouldn't budge, Twilight didn't have time for this. She hopped over to a neighbors house and stole a shovel, she didn't care if she got in trouble she needed to get inside to Rarity.

Twilight walked over to the door when Rainbow Dash saw her she got out of the way, Twilight then took the shovel and started to hit it against the locking mechanism in between the frame and the door. She violently shoved the shovel against it and then she broke it, Twilight through the shovel aside and Rainbow Dash yanked the door open.

"Rarity you need to go sit down, Rainbow Dash can get the pool filled up and then she can just push it inside I'll stay here with you," Twilight said. Rainbow Dash called for Sweetie Belle to help her, Sweetie Belle opened a door and Rainbow Dash pulled a birthing pool out that had been stored there safely. They then turned on a hose with a clean water filter on.

When they went over to pour clean water in they saw that the hose wasn't working, Rainbow Dash panicked as she turned the hose on and off. She ran inside and told Twilight what was happening with the hose. Twilight looked at Sweetie Belle with hesitation.

"Sweetie Belle you need to listen to me, the main water supply has been turned off so it needs to be turned on manually, there's one in the center of Ponyville, you need to get there and turn it on and don't let anybody ask you questions. Just hurry and turn it on," Twilight said.

Sweetie Belle understood that she had to be the one to do it as Twilight and Rainbow Dash had to help Rarity. She agreed to do it.

Sweetie Belle ran as fast as she could to the water supply, she didn't stop for anybody to answer questions about what she was doing as she needed to focus on her task, she kept running until she saw the supply, she saw that it had to be restarted manually so she entered a hole in the ground and crawled down a pipe.

She feared that this would take up all of the time and she couldn't do that, she knew that Rainbow Dash would be checking the hose to see if the water supply was on every few minutes so that they could start helping Rarity give birth without her. She hoped that she could make it in time to see the birth of her new relative.

She kept descending downward and finally she felt her feet touch the ground; she turned on her flashlight and searched for a switch that would restart the flow of water. She searched all over for it and descended another flight of stairs and then finally she restarted the water. She waited for a few seconds and then she heard the water start to flow again. She quickly ran back to the entrance.

She crawled out of the entrance and ran back home. She ran as fast as her legs could. She finally made it back, she saw that they were already filling the pool with water as Rarity took deep calming breaths. Twilight approached and hugged her.

"Thanks Sweetie Belle I really appreciate what you have done! You did excellent work back there. Might I ask how you found the switch?" Twilight asked. Sweetie Belle told her how she found it. Then Twilight sent her to get a few towels and a clamp for the umbilical cord.

Sweetie Belle ran to the closet and tried to find a few suitable towels, she then grabbed the clamp and scissors for the umbilical cord. She had to crawl over stuff to get to it, she finally grabbed the stuff and ran back out to the living room; they finally finished filling the pool. Rarity was squeezing Rainbow Dash's hand as she tried to breath steadily. As Rainbow Dash instructed her to keep calm as she assured her. They finally finished filling the pool so Twilight checked the temperature of the water and saw that it was suitable to enter.

"Alright Rainbow on my count you and I are going to help Rarity step into the pool, but we have to be careful so she doesn't slip. Make sure to stand behind her though so if she starts to fall then gently hold onto her." Twilight instructed calmly. Rarity was helped into the pool.

"Now the baby might take awhile, contractions do take at least a few hours or more so you might not even be ready to give birth yet, it depends on how intense they get, but labor doesn't usually last for eighteen hours so what I would suggest is to make sure to get out every once and awhile so I can fix the temperature of the pool if it changes as well and so you can stretch your arms for a bit," Twilight said.

"And how will I know it's time? Are you saying its a waiting game now? I have to wait?" Rarity asked with disbelief
Twilight sighed as she spoke carefully.

"It depends on the contractions and how intense they get. I can't predict when you will be ready they are only estimates from other women who have given birth but you'll know when you're ready because you will feel it. All I can suggest to do now is just...wait and push. Also if you keep up a constant pushing that helps as well but take breaks too," Twilight said.

Sweetie Belle watched from the side but she stayed quiet as she didn't want to get in the way.
Twilight and Rainbow Dash talked back and forth for a bit until Rainbow Dash had a question for Rarity as she hadn't heard Rarity mention it.

"Have you thought of a name? I mean I don't mind any name you choose," Rainbow Dash said. Rarity shrugged.

"It depends. If it's a girl I was thinking of Diamond, if it's a boy then I was suggesting Storm unless of course it's a tomboyish girl as it will spend its time with both you and me so I don't know. Do you have suggestions?" Rarity smiled.

"Storm sounds awesome! Rainbow Storm would be a cool sounding name like mine!" Rainbow Dash said, as she flipped her hair back. Rarity rolled her eyes.

"You do have a big ego don't you? Of course you would pick that name! Why am I not surprised?" Rarity stated, Rainbow Dash snickered as she continued.

"How about Rainbow Dash the second? Just so people know that my kid and I are cool?" Rainbow Dash chuckled. Twilight almost slapped her forehead at how dumb and funny it sounded.

"Okay now I have to admit I like Diamond more than that name. And even Rainbow Storm sounds better than that name," Rarity said.
Rainbow Dash chuckled and then all of a sudden Rarity felt another painful contraction and it was more intense than the last few. She felt another painful one and she tried to keep calm.

"Are you experiencing them again?" Twilight asked, Rarity nodded.
"Yes but they aren't as painful as the other ones; I don't think I'm ready yet." Rarity told her, Twilight nodded as she looked her over. Sweetie Belle came over to Twilight.

"Sweetie Belle can you get me water from the fridge? I'm quiet thirsty," Twilight smiled. Sweetie Belle got water and gave it to Twilight, Rarity looked at Sweetie Belle.

"You can read a book if you want to stay here Sweetie Belle. I don't want you to get bored, in fact you can go outside and just hang out as it might take awhile. I don't want you to feel like you have to stay here." Rarity offered. Sweetie Belle smiled.

"It's alright I appreciate that but I'm not bored I want to stay here with you. I want to see the baby," Sweetie Belle said. Rarity smiled and hugged her sister.
"You are such a sweetheart you know that?" Rarity said.

Sweetie Belle smiled as Rarity kissed her forehead. They both got lost in conversation with eachother about what the baby's eye color might be. Rarity had to get out to stretch her legs but she didn't know if that would be okay. Twilight told her it would be as long as she wasn't having contractions at that moment.

Rarity got out for a few minutes to take a break so that she didn't have to sit there all the time, she didn't stay out for long though as she got back in after a bit. That was when she felt another contraction and it was painful, Rarity sucked air through her nose as the contractions grew, but she handled them better than expected. Rainbow Dash noticed her reaction and made a joke.

"Wow I would have though you would be screaming during this." She said, Rarity glared at her while Rainbow Dash smirked at Rarity. Twilight got out of the pool so she could go and text someone, she got back in and a few more uneventful minutes passed by.

"I'm glad your handling this better than expected, to be honest I was worried you would be freaking out a lot." Twilight told Rarity.

"I prepared for this all during my pregnancy, even if this is my first time giving birth it's not as bad as I thought it would be, I feel calm almost aside from feeling some slight pain here and there but other than that at least I'm not screaming like how other women do when they go into labor," Rarity remarked. Rarity wondered if Twilight agreed with her sentiment.

"I have to agree with you, I've seen most normal childbirths were women are screaming their heads off, and I know that doesn't happen during water births, and I know because....well you'll be surprised how many studies are on this type of subject," Twilight remarked, Rainbow Dash nodded in agreement.
Rarity silently continued to push for a while to see if she could start active labor, she let out a loud moan as she realized the baby was ready.

"Twilight....uh, I dont know if this should worry you but there was a sharp pain right just now, i um...." Rarity began to say.

"Do you think that it's time for the baby? Have you been pushing?" Twilight asked, Rarity started to breathe heavily as all she could do was nod, Twilight moved her hair away from her eyes.

"Rarity you're going to push harder than that, keep breathing constantly, nothing is going to go wrong, you can do this." Twilight told her. Rarity grabbed Rainbow Dash's hand as she pushed, Rarity held onto Rainbow Dash and Twilight got in between her legs, Rarity doubted herself, she didn't know if she could do it. Sweetie Belle put a hand on her shoulder. Rainbow Dash comforted her.

"You can do this Rarity, you're strong for this," Rainbow Dash said. Those were all the words Rarity needed as she pushed as much as she could, Twilight continued to tell her to breath as she knelt in between Rarity's legs, Rarity grunted as she pushed as hard as she could.
She stopped to catch a breather, then she continued to push as she held onto Rainbow Dash's hand, she tried not to move out of position as she pushed more often. She groaned a low growl of pain but other than that she was silent, which amazed her.

"Rarity don't stop I can almost see the head!" Twilight stated.
Rarity didn't stop and kept pushing for a bit, after a few minutes she stopped to take a break, time passed and after some more pushing and a loud cry from Rarity Twilight caught the baby in her hands after coming out, Twilight suctioned out its airways and it started crying, Twilight dried and wrapped the baby with a towel and cut the umbilical cord.

"It's a girl!" Twilight announced to Rarity. Rarity held her baby in her arms as she cried with happiness as she looked at her daughter she knew exactly what to name her.

"Hope. Her name shall be Hope." Rarity stated lovingly. Sweetie Belle looked on in awe at the whole event, Rarity even let Sweetie Belle handle Hope. Sweetie Belle looked on lovingly as she held her niece.

"That's your niece Sweetie Belle!" Rarity cooed.

Sweetie Belle rocked the baby gently and after a few minutes of crying Hope started to calm down, Twilight looked on in awe at the whole scene. Sweetie Belle loved her niece already, She almost forgot to let Rarity and Rainbow Dash hold her again but she let them as they whispered gently to her.
She soon fell asleep and after awhile Rarity got out of the pool as Twilight cleaned up the place. Rarity held her baby for the first time as she welcomed Hope into Equestria.
