Everyday.
Every day we are given a hand of cards, they say. A simple draw from the deck of life. It could be a good set of cards, it could be a bad set of cards. It is up to us, however, to decide what we should do next with the hand of cards we are given. It is tough, the game of life. We are given these cards in hopes that life stacks the deck in our favor. That we can win a good pot before we have to cash out and exit the table. But the truth of the matter is that life doesn’t play favorites. We are playing with incredible odds, odds that are seemly incalculable. Yes, the universe is cruel, cold, and most importantly, unforgiving. But we manage to hang on, defy the odds that were given to us. I guess that is what we are; an odd form of life, on an odd planet with an odd star, living in an odd time. It seems surviving really is in our nature. Guess it should come to no surprise what would happen when the two of us met like we did on that fateful day.
It never occurred to some why fate had chosen us to meet the way we did nor did it occur to us why we were subjected to such scrutiny. We just happen to come together, friends even, despite the oddness that came with it. I never consider the damage that it could have caused to the world. Still, We remained united against all odds. It's such a shame that things became the way they are. Because this was never meant to be. I was never allowed to witness this world. Never was supposed to see their magic. Never was supposed to arrive in this world alive. Yet, despite being a different life form altogether, I was welcomed with open arms after the rocky start. For they could paint a smile on their faces despite the pain and the fear that was building inside them. A pretty facade to mask the worries that were me being alive in this new, strange world It was enough for me to grow to like it here. To be attached to someone. To have a caring friendship.
However, the old flaws kick in and our fear drove us part. Opposition and a cold, uncaring universe revealed the forces that were coming from the unknown. Consequence we unknowingly created. If only we had learned from our mistakes we had made. If only we could have seen the paths we were heading for, the future we were made with our hasty decisions and our narrow retrospection. It is an unblemished part of history that would be with us until the end. But then nothing truly ever ends, does it? We are still in the echoes of our past. Always have been. Always will be. However, this story isn’t one for comfort. This story to teach, to give a lesson that will help others avoid the same mistakes we had made. That is always the purpose of a story, isn’t? I guess that is why I am writing this, to give some insight on what has happened. I kept telling myself if I could do it again, if I had a better card, that I could have made a better future. The odds were, however, not in my favor, so I guess I could make do with the hand I have been given. I just hope that others will learn from the game of life I had to play. For the story that is about to unfold is not one you should take lightly. This is the story of an unlikely encounter and what shortly followed. A story of wonder and horror. A story between two sides hoping the deck will stack in their favor. And it all came crashing upon me because it is on that fateful day is when I first met her and together we became the balancing factor between peace and ruins for our two species.
I only hope we are still friends after all this.
For this is the story of friendship, magic, and destiny.
A story of how I fell into a world called Equestria.
