Recovery is a nightmare
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAria and Sunset sat outside the hospital room, waiting for the doctors to finish their examination. Both had been silent all the way to the hospital, and still the silence remained as they sat next to each other.
Aria finally broke the silence, "I shouldn't have left."
Sunset turned to her, "It wasn't your fault Aria."
"It was my fault! I went with her for one reason, to make sure nothing happened, and I fucked it up." she said as a few tears fell down her cheeks.
Sunset put a arm around her, trying to comfort the hurt soul. Sunset had never seen Aria this emotional before. Before she and Sonata got together, Sunset sometimes doubted if Aria even had any emotions. But now she saw that there was more to her than meets the eye. "It's my fault Aria, I let her go. It seemed safe at the time, but now I regret it more than anything else."
The door to the room opened and the doctors stepped out. The two girls immediately sprung out of their seats and faced them.
"How is she?" Aria asked.
"She's going to be fine. A few nasty bruises here and there, but nothing permanent. She hasn't regained consciousness yet, which usually by now most people do. In time she'll come back, until then she just needs to rest," the doctor responded to her.
"May we see her?" Aria asked again.
"Yes, you may," the doctor replied, moving out of the way of the door.
The two walked into the room and saw the blue siren laying comfortably on the bed. Aria walked over and placed her hand on top of Sonatas.
"I will say, she's doing a heck of a lot better than those guys upstairs that also came from that school. I don't know what happened, but they definitely got the bad end of the deal," the doctor said, exiting the room.
"They deserved it," Aria said once he was gone.
Sunset wanted to respond, but her focus shifted when she heard something come from down the hallway.
"OUT OF THE WAY!!" the voice yelled. The two girls looked outside the room to see Adagio running down the hallway. She quickly entered the room and looked down at the girl. Tears formed in her eyes when she laid sights on her. "Oh Sonata..." she said as she moved next to the bed. She brushed some of the hair out of her face as Aria moved up beside her.
Sunset watched as Adagio's look of sadness turned to anger as she turned to the other two.
"Who did this to her?" she asked.
Sunset was quickly by her side. "A group of guys at the school, but don't worry, Aria already took care of them," she said, hoping Adagio would calm down.
"I broke their bones for hurting a member of this family," Aria said as her hate for the guys came back.
"I hope they stay broken," Adagio said, looking back down at Sonata.
A few hours passed and the trio was still sitting in Sonata's room. Most of the time was spent in silence, only a few times did someone speak up. Soon the rest of the Rainbooms, along with Octavia and Vinyl, came to visit.
"Is she alright?" Pinkie asked in a calm but worried tone.
"She's going to be sore, but she'll be alright," Sunset replied to her. "She hasn't regained consciousness yet though."
"The poor darling," Rarity stated.
"Why would they do something like this?" Applejack asked.
"Revenge," Twilight spoke up.
"They couldn't see that they came back to the school peacefully?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"No good ruffians," Rarity said, shaking her head.
The group stayed by Sonata's side for most of the day, until it got closer to night. Most of the girls had left by then, leaving the original three. Aria was sitting right next to Sonata's bed, holding her hand, while Adagio and Sunset sat on the two chairs against the wall. Every time Adagio thought about what happened, her anger rose, only until Sunset calmed her down.
A knock came at the door, and in walked a nurse. "I came to inform you that visiting hours will be over in about fifteen minutes." Adagio thanked the nurse and she walked out. Both Sunset and Adagio got up, and with one last look at Sonata, they walked out the door.
Aria stood up looked down at her. "I'll be back," she said, before kissing Sonata on the forehead and leaving the room. Sunset and Aria had another quite ride while Adagio rode alone, and when they got home, they quickly got ready for bed. Aria set the alarm clock on her phone for as early as she could go visit Sonata. Sunset and Adagio laid in their bed, thinking about the whole day.
Sunset felt Adagio's warm hands wrap around her, but something was off. She turned towards her to see tears in the siren's eyes.
"Sunset, I'm scared," she said.
Sunset was completely blown away at this. Adagio never gets scared, Sunset thought she didn't fear anything, never really had any reason too. But to hear her say that made Sunset tense up. "Of what?"
"Of losing you, or Aria, or Sonata. What happened at the school was planned, what if next time it's worse? I couldn't bare losing any of you. I love you all to much to see any of you get taken away!" she said, tears freely flowing down her face.
Sunset brought her close, letting Adagio bury her face beneath Sunset's chin. Sunset rested her head on Adagio's soft poofy hair. "We love you too Adagio, and we wouldn't want anything to happen to you either. It'll be alright."
Adagio looked up at her, "You really think so?"
Sunset looked back down at her, nodding her head. Seeing Adagio, the mighty leader of the Dazzlings, broken down and crying made Sunset hurt on the inside. She pulled her closer, stroking her hair to try to calm her down. Eventually the two fell asleep in each others arms.
Morning came and Aria was prepared to leave. On the way out of the hospital last night she asked what the earliest she could come back would be. She made it her mission to be back by Sonata's side as soon as possible. She got in Adagio's car, not caring if Adagio needed it today, and drove to the hospital. Once there, she quickly made her way to Sonata's room. She entered the room to see Sonata just how she was last night. Aria took her spot by the bed. She gracefully ran a finger along the side of Sonata's face, trying to hold back some tears. She felt her phone go off in her pocket, and she pulled it out to see a text from Sunset saying to text her if Sonata wakes up. Aria texted back ok and put down her phone. She placed her hand in Sonata's, hoping for her to wake up. About two hours pass and Aria is still sitting there, one hand in Sonata's and the other holding her phone.
Sonata slowly opened her eyes, the blinding light kept them from fully opening. Once she adjusted to it, she peered around to see where she was at. She noticed Aria sitting next to her. "Ari?"
Aria shot up out of her seat at the sound of her voice. "Sonata!? Sonata your awake!!"
"Where am I?"
"Your in the hospital, you was brought here after what happened."
The memories came flooding into Sonata's head. The first punch, the other punches, the insults, the kicks, and then the final punch that made everything go black. "What happened to the guys?"
"I took care of them, they won't be bothering you anymore."
Sonata smiled at her hero. "Thank you Ari."
Aria smiled back, holding her hand tightly.
"Now let's go ho-ow ow ow ow," she said as she tried to get up, but the pain in her body made her lay back down.
"Lay still Sonata, your body is really bruised." Aria told her. As Sonata laid back down, Aria pulled out her phone to text both Sunset and Adagio. Adagio was already on her way to the hospital when she got the text, but she was having trouble getting there since her car was gone. Sunset was putting books in her locker when her phone went off. She took one look at the text before shutting her locker and running for the exit. Sunset passed Adagio walking to the hospital and picked her up. The two quickly made their way inside the building when they got there and over to the room. Happiness spread on their faces at the sight of the awake girl.
"Hey guys," Sonata said from her bed.
Adagio was quickly by her side, hugging her as gently as she could. Sunset joined by her side, joy written all over her face. The three of them expressed how happy they were to have Sonata back, tears of joy being shed in the process. The doctor came in later and told them that Sonata could go home with them, and be careful with her. Sonata tried to get out of bed, but the pain in her stomach made it hard to get up. Aria reached her arms under her and picked her up, and gently let her down. Sonata stood by her, sore but happy to by her girlfriend once again. The three of them walked out of the hospital and to there cars, the sirens went back home while Sunset went back to school. The news that Sonata was awake made the Rainbooms very happy, and it gave Pinkie the idea to throw a party to celebrate. The day soon came to a end however, and Sonata was sitting on the edge of her bed. Her door creaked open and Adagio looked in.
"How are you doing Sonata?" Adagio asked, checking on her one more time before going to bed.
"I'm still a little sore, but getting better," she responded. Just before Adagio closed the door, Sonata called her name.
"Yes?" Adagio asked.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course you can," Adagio stated, entering the room.
"Am...am I a freak?"
Adagio sat down beside her. "No your not a freak. Why would you ask that?"
"What if those guys were right. What we've done, what I've done, what if I am a monster," she said, starting to cry.
Adagio put her arm around Sonata. "Your not a monster Sonata. Yes, we've done terrible things, but it's in the past. We've changed, you've changed, and you can't dwell on past mistakes. Your a good person Sonata, you have a good heart. You make people smile, you bring joy to our lives. We may not always show it, but your special to us Sonata, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
"*sniff*You really mean it?"
"Yes, I mean it with all my heart. And you have others that think the same. You can ask Aria or Sunset, and they'll tell you that your a good person as well. We'll always be here for you Sonata. We love you."
Sonata wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled to her, "Thanks Dagi."
"Your welcome Sonata." Adagio said with a smile, she was about to get up when a idea popped in her head. "How about tomorrow we go to that taco restaurant you love, just the four of us."
"You really mean it!"
"Yes, I mean it," Adagio replied to her.
"Thank you again Dagi!" Sonata responded.
"Your welcome you little taco girl. Now get some sleep, your bruises need to heal," she said as she got up.
"Alrighty. Good night Dagi."
"Good night Sonata," Adagio replied to her before turning off the lights and closing the door.
On another part of town, two other girls were up talking to each other, the two being Twilight and Twi.
"So he had a door that made you witness your worst fear?" Twi asked.
"Yes, if I didn't have Spike there, I would've been trapped in a endless nightmare." Twilight responded.
"Sombra sounds like a scary unicorn." Twi said, putting her arms around her legs.
"Sombra was a monster, he worked through fear and dark magic. He enslaved his own ponies, and found satisfaction in it. Everyone assumes him dead, but I've always had this fear that he truly isn't gone."
"I liked it better when you talked about discord."
Twilight rolled her eyes as she thought about him, "Discord may be reformed, but he's still a problem I have to deal with."
"I know this worlds Fluttershy is really nice, but I'm still surprised that she was the one to show him the light."
"She's his favorite because of that, and also because the rest of don't care for his company."
"As much trouble as he gives you I'm surprised you aren't his favorite."
"I'm his favorite to annoy."
"Oh." Twi rested her head on her legs and rocked back and forth, thinking of something else to do.
"Could you take off your glasses, please?" Twilight asked.
"Why?"
"I kinda want to see if you take them off and put your hair down if it's like looking in a mirror."
"Ok?" Twi replied. She took off her glasses and took her hair down from her ponytail. She looked across at Twilight, who was inspecting her carefully.
"Huh, it is like looking in a mirror. But I like you better with the glasses and the ponytail, it's cute."
"Thanks," Twi responded, putting her hair back up and glasses on. "So since you've been back, have you talked to Flash any, Sunset told me about you two."
"I haven't really. We both said our hellos but no conversations yet. Not that it'll bug me if I don't talk to him."
"Why?"
"I'm interested in him anymore, or actually in any guys period."
Twi's eyes went wide. "You like girls?"
"Yeah, I grew tired of looking for a guy, and thought what would it be like to be with a girl. Sunset told me that being with Adagio was the best decision she ever made, so I thought that maybe I could find a girl too."
"Interesting."
"What about you Twi?"
"I-I'm interested in girls too."
"Really? I guess the similarities keep coming."
"Yeah." The two sat for a couple seconds in silence before Twilight spoke up again.
"There's one more thing I want to do before we go off to bed."
"What is it?" Twi asked.
Twilight shifted in her seat and took a deep breath, letting it out before answering. "I...I want to try kissing you."
Twi sat up in her spot and blushed deep red. "What?!"
"I want to see what it's like to, kiss yourself...for science of course." Twilight answered.
"Um...alright..."
Twilight was actually surprised by her answer. "Your sure about this."
"Y-yes, I'm interested to see too, for scientific reasons also."
"O-ok, here goes." The two of them closed their eyes and locked lips. It started as a gentle kiss, but the more it continued, the more it grew. Twilight moved forward and put her arms around Twi. Twi did the same, making them both closer. Twi's tongue was able to enter Twilight's mouth, and both of their tongues danced together. After a few moans and a few minutes, they parted, leaving a saliva string. The two looked at each other for a few seconds before Twilight once again broke the silence.
"That was...interesting."
"Yeah...it was," Twi responded. The two moved away from each other to prepare for bed. Once they were both done, Twi spoke up before Twilight left the room. "You won't tell anyone about what happened, right?"
"No, I won't. It'll be our own little scientific secret." Twilight replied before walking to the guest room. Twi laid her head on the pillow, a smile formed on her face before she turned out the light.
