Vinyl sat waiting for her beer. It had been a couple hours since Octavia kicked her out of their apartment. Instead of saving the bits she had on a home, Vinyl went to get some drinks to wash away all her problems. This wasn't the first time this had happened, of course. Vinyl was kicked out once or twice a month, but Octavia was angrier than usual this time. She had cursed Vinyl out of the small apartment and onto the streets of Ponyville.
Rainbow Dash had been through some tough times as well. Her job as Captain of the Wonderbolts was nerve wracking and making her extremely anxious. Her relationship with Soarin wasn't going well either. Dash loved him, but she didn't love him. She felt her feelings were elsewhere but couldn't bear to breakup with the sweet stallion. She hoped that one night, when she came home drunk, she would tell him without thinking about it. Hopefully, tonight would be that night.
Dash sat down on a stool next to Vinyl Scratch, "I'll have a couple shots of tequila, thanks."
Vinyl Scratch looked to her right, "What's a pony so successful as you doing here?"
"Very funny. I could ask the same to you," Rainbow asked her old friend. The two had know each other for years and had become good friends.
"Octie kicked me out of the place," Vinyl shrugged. Though she was a successful DJ, life always got in the way of her happiness.
"Again?" Rainbow chuckled, "What happened this time?"
"She said I was being 'too loud and obnoxious' like always. She just had enough of it I guess," Vinyl shook the straw around in her newly delivered drink.
"I feel you. Soarin and I just aren't what we used to. He quit being a Wonderbolt so I could be Captain, and it would be too cruel to leave him jobless. I'm just so confused," Dash poured down one of her shots, "Hopefully some shots will get my head clear."
"That's the opposite of what it does to me. Keeps my mind so crowded with stupid ideas that it gets my mind off of what was bothering me in the first place," Vinyl held up her class, "Cheers to alcohol?"
Dash held up one of her shots, "Cheers to alcohol!" The two laughed and drank a few sips before speaking once more.
"I miss the good old days, you know? Just you and me sitting and talking. It seems like forever ago when I got that job at Ponyville's Finest Stallion. Then you got into the weather patrol and now you're a Wonderbolt. We never have enough time to talk anymore," Vinyl chugged down the rest of her beer and ushered towards the bartender, "Give me another, I'm just getting started."
"You and me both. Being so busy all the time just keeps us so apart. Not to mention our relationships. You and Octavia are always out doing something the night I'm free and Soarin and I are out the night you're free. It just never works out," Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes as she took another shot.
"Why don't you breakup with that idiot so we can go out more? I'm pretty sure Octavia is done with me, so why don't we have some fun?" Vinyl had already finished her second cup of beer and had another one waiting for her.
"Maybe. You know what? When we're done, I'll stomp right on home and tell him we're done!" Rainbow's shots were out and she was begging for some beer.
"There is no way in hell you would ever leave him!" Vinyl laughed, "You're too loyal for that!"
"Hell no! I'm going to break up with him right now!" Dash yelled.
"Nope! You can't leave me yet! We're just getting...started!" Vinyl slurred her words.
"Okay, okay! I'll leave when you finish you're...you're beer," Dash's eyes wandered lazily.
"Oh please, Dash! I'll never be done!" Vinyl laughed, pouring the beer into her mouth with most of it missing its target.
"Then I'll never be done!" Dash did the same as her friend with the same result.
The bartender walked towards the two mares. Her mane was a dark purple with some cyan highlights going through them, "Are you almost done, or should I get you some more?"
"Keep em' coming RaRa!" Vinyl shrieked, "These drinks disappear as fast as your singing career!"
"Good one!" Dash laughed.
"It's not my fault that it was hard to find a manager after Svengallop left. This is just temporary, I'll be up there soon, just you wait and see!" RaRa had stars in her eyes.
"Quit dreaming and get some more beer!" Vinyl yelled, slamming her empty cup on the counter.
"I'm on it! Okay! Just calm down!" RaRa rushed off.
"Sucker! She never got to be as successful as us!" Dash laughed.
"You bet! You should have seen her some here the night she applied here! Her mascara was all over her face!" Vinyl squealed.
RaRa came around the table with the mare's orders, "Here you go. I'm excited to see how much you have to pay for this." RaRa smirked as she disappeared to help another customer.
"I got enough bits to drink for centuries!" Vinyl scoffed.
"I bet you I have a shit ton more bits than you with your deadened job! I get four times the money you make in a week in a day!" Dash sung her hoof randomly at Vinyl.
"Hell no! I'll...I'll bet that I make eight times the money you make in an hour in a second!" Vinyl smirked, "Beat that!"
"Every time a wing flaps, I get sixteen times the amount of bits Celestia owns!" Dash laughed.
"You...you got me there!" Vinyl laughed along.
"Hey, Vinyl?" Dash whined.
"Yeah?"
"Want to go to the club? We might pick up some...some better dates than the losers we got now," Dash leaned towards Vinyl, poking her jokingly.
"Hell yes! Let's get laid!" Vinyl left a hoofful of bits on the counter and walked out of the bar with her friend.
They staggered among many roads until they were sober enough to understand where they were going. Once there, a large building stood before them. In neon lights, a sign read, "The Sexy Stallion".
"It's a shame they had to change the name," Vinyl chuckled as she and Dash walked into the start of their next adventure.
