Riing Riingg
The alarm clock went off. The sun began shining through the window, falling on a little girl sleeping soundly in bed.
A pair of small magenta eyes fluttered open. It was a brand new day. Usually the small girl would dread getting up so early in the morning, but today was a big day.
She had wasted no time in getting up, brushing her teeth, and getting dressed. She looked in the bathroom mirror. The reflection revealed a small girl with light blue skin, messy rainbow hair, and sparkling pink magenta eyes.
Her name was Rainbow Dash, a confident and strong five year old girl.
“Today is going to be awesome!”. Dash squealed to herself.
It was her first day in kindergarten. She and her parents had just moved to a city named Cloudsdale and so far, Rainbow had really liked the town. Dash was told that this was where her father was born and raised, which made the town even cooler.
While she really enjoyed Cloudsdale, Rainbow was most excited for school and was practically bouncing off the walls. She couldnt wait to meet new friends!
“Rainbow! Come down honey! It’s time for breakfast!”, a voice called from the stairs.
“Coming mom!”, the small five year old replied as she raced down the stairs.
Rainbow ran into the kitchen, almost running into her father.
“Woah! Careful there kiddo!” the deep voice chuckled.
“Sorry! I’m just so excited!” Rainbow squeaked, her adorable voice cracking.
Rainbow sat down at the table and began eating some delicious pancakes that her mom had made. While eating, Rainbow was watching her parents.
Her mom, Windy Whistles, was washing some dishes. Her mom had the same light blue skin and magenta eyes as Rainbow, but she had short pink hair that curved behind her ears.
Windy always made sure that her daughter was happy, always telling her that she could do anything she set her mind to. She knew that her daughter had a big heart and was very energetic. For a five year old, Rainbow was very persistent and that would sometimes be a challenge for Windy. If Rainbow had her mind set on something, she would not stop trying until she got it.
However, Windy Whistles did what she needed to do and helped her daughter be the best that she could be.
Rainbow then shifted her gaze at her father, Bow Hot Hoof, who was drinking some coffee. Dash had always thought that her dad’s name was funny, but she had said that it was what made him special.
Bow Hot Hoof had purple skin, blazing yellow eyes, and rainbow hair just like his daughter. He loves soccer and it seems that it may have carried on to his daughter as well. The pair share a love for their favorite team, the Wonderbolts!
There was a time Bow had surprised his daughter with tickets to a game to see the Wonderbolts play. While watching the game, Rainbow Dash looked up at her father and said, “One day, I’m going to make it on their team and play with the Wonderbolts!”. That sentence melted Bow’s heart. It seemed that Dash was serious though, she begged her parents to take soccer lessons and is determined to be the best player there ever was. Bow admired his daughter’s determination and encouraged her to practice more and more.
Rainbow felt very lucky to have her parents. She wouldn’t know what to do without them.
Rainbow then started thinking about what kindergarten was like. She imagined about how many friends she would make, which she was most excited about. She didn’t have any siblings to play with or talk to. Her parents were great and all, but Rainbow still wanted to play with someone her own age.
Kindergarten was the perfect place to make friends! Rainbow thought about recess and how she would play soccer with her new friends. She would teach them all of her awesome tricks!
“Dashie!”, a voice called, breaking Dash’s train of thought, “It’s time to go. You don’t want to be late for your first day of kindergarten now do you?, the voice continued, who Dash figured out was her mother.
Dash gasped Oh no! The small girl jumped off her chair, raced into the living room, grabbed her backpack, and bolted for the door.
“Come on!”, she shouted impatiently. Rainbow did not want to miss a minute of kindergarten and her parents were so slow!
Bow and Windy looked at eachother, they were still in the kitchen and were surprised at their daughter’s speed. All they could do was laugh. They loved their little Dashie.
“Alright kid, I’m coming!” Bow said while smiling, making his way to the living room. He hadn’t even opened the door all the way, when Dash had made her way out and bolted towards the car.
In the car, Rainbow was rambling on and on to her father about what she is going to do in school.
“And I’m going to show them how to score a goal, and dribble, and kick, and-” Rainbow suddenly stopped, they had made it to the school, Cloudsdale Elementary.
“Are you ready kiddo?”, Bow asked his daughter.
“I was born ready!” Rainbow replied with a smirk on her face.
“That’s the spirit!” Bow cheered as he ruffled Dash’s hair.
The two made their way inside and found Rainbow’s classroom, room 234. A tall woman opened the door. She had light purple skin, green eyes, and long brown hair. “Hello! I’m Mrs.Harmony!”, the woman smiled and shook Bow Hot Hoof’s hand.
Rainbow was suddenly nervous and hid behind her father’s leg. “And who are you?” Mrs. Harmony asked gently, looking at Rainbow.
“Um...R-Rainbow Dash..” she said meekly.
“Well, I am very happy to have you Rainbow Dash! Why don’t you make your way inside.” Mrs. Harmony replied.
Rainbow smiled and gave her dad a big hug. Today is going to be awesome!, Dash repeated in her head as she went inside the classroom.
Soon all of the children and parents were gone and the halls were cleared and silent...except for the sound of soft sniffles.
“They grow up so fast!” Bow sobbed as he blew his nose and headed home.

Hellooo! Thank you for taking the time to read this chapter! It is my first ever story and I hope I can continue. I do still go to school so I will update as much as I can. I am also planning on making this a series and this is the first story in the series.
Sadly, if things do not go as planned, this story will be cancelled and so will the series
Hopefully we don't get to that point!
Also, I don't have an editor or anyone like that so there are mistakes in this story, so feel free to point them out!
Thanks again and until next chapter!
Rainbow Dash walked inside the classroom. She suddenly didn't feel so excited anymore. All of the kids were talking to eachother, there were so many! What if the children didn’t like her? What if they don’t want to be friends?
Mrs.Harmony must of seen the expression on Rainbow's face because she came over and asked her, "How is everything going sweetie?".
Rainbow just looked at her teacher and nodded with a smile on her face. She was too afraid to even talk to the teacher.
Mrs. Harmony asked, "Nervous?", Rainbow nodded, "Oh it's okay honey, everyone gets butterflies in their stomach every once in a while." Mrs.Harmony smiled at Rainbow and went to go to another child.
Butterflies in my stomach? That sounded a bit weird to Rainbow. She didn't even eat any butterflies! Rainbow just brushed that statement off and went to go explore.
The classroom was very colorful, there were five blue tables with yellow chairs for you to sit on. On each table there was a different colored cup. The walls were white with many different pictures and posters on them. The floor had blue checkered tiles. In the corner, there was a giant rainbow rug next to a bookshelf. Rainbow looked at the rug and touched her hair. How did they do that? she asked herself.
Rainbow then looked at all of the children. Most of them didn’t seem nervous at all, they were all making friends! Some of the boys Dash had seen were laughing with each other. Dash looked over at some of the girls, who seemed different than Dash. Rainbow’s hair had always been more on the messy side and she liked it that way. However, all of the girls had their hair in different styles and it was neatly done.
Dash had also took notice of their backpacks. The girls all had pink hearts, butterflies, bunnies, and many more on their backpacks. Rainbow looked over at hers. It was red and had small soccer balls on it and to top it off, a Wonderbolts pin.
Rainbow seemed different than the other girls, and she didn’t like it. She liked to run around and play sports, while they liked to sit and chat about glitter and things like that. What if the girls teased her for liking those things? She started getting nervous again and looked down in shame. I’m never going to make friends now
However, Rainbow also noticed one girl that wasn’t talking to anyone either. She was sat in the corner next to the rainbow rug. The girl looked kind of sad.
Rainbow was going to go over to the girl until Mrs.Harmony clapped her hands and got everyone's attention. Rainbow listened as Mrs.Harmony explained the rules and talked about what kindergarten was going to be like. Mrs.Harmony then told the children that everyone will be seated in different tables, and that the cups would help them remember where they sat.
"Rainbow Dash, you will be sitting at the table with the purple cup!" Mrs.Harmony instructed. Rainbow searched and found the table with a purple cup. After that a few more kids joined her and she had a whole group. However, while she had a whole table of people to talk to in front of her, Rainbow was focused on a girl at the table with the red cup. It was the same girl she had seen sitting at the rainbow rug.
This girl looked just as nervous as Rainbow felt. She had long light pink hair and a cream yellow skintone. In her hair was a small butterfly clip. She was also wearing a green dress with butterflies on it. Maybe she has butterflies in her stomach too!, Dash thought. Rainbow couldn't get a glimpse of the girl's face because she was hiding behind her hair. However, Rainbow did notice something odd about her feet. She looked like she was a bit too tall for the small chairs. The girl suddenly had pushed her hair out her face for once, but just to talk to the teacher.
Rainbow saw that the girl had big teal eyes and her face, it looked like she was older than Dash. Actually, it looked like she was older than everyone in the classroom, not including the teacher of course. Rainbow thought that this girl seemed nice and was determined to talk to her during recess. Hopefully she could find out why she was so nervous.
Throughout the morning, Rainbow got to know some of the kids that were at the purple team. However, the kids didn't seem like the type of people Dash wanted to hang out with. They barely even talked to Rainbow and it was like she wasn't even there. There was one other girl and two boys with Rainbow.
Dash had decided to try and talk to the girl, “Uh...hi.”, she started.
The girl looked at Dash, “Why is your hair so messy?” she asked and turned to talk to the boys.
Rainbow looked and put her head down, This is going to be a long day
Finally, it was recess. Rainbow Dash ran outside and went searching for a soccer ball while everyone else went straight for the jungle gym. She finally found one, but she didn't have anyone to play with. Rainbow was just about to give up in trying to have fun, until she heard laughing. She looked over by the jungle gym and saw two boys by the monkey bars laughing. Dash looked a bit closer.
Both of the boys were in her class, they sat in the table with the yellow cup. One of the boys had brown hair that covered his eyes and tan skin. The other boy had a darker skintone than the first and had dirty blonde hair.
Rainbow wondered what they were laughing about. She suddenly realized that the girl with pink hair was next to them as well. Rainbow thought that the girl had told a joke and the boys were laughing with her. Soon, tears began to form the the pink haired girl's eyes. That is when Rainbow realized, the boys weren't laughing with her, they were laughing at her.
Rainbow Dash stepped even closer, just enough to hear their conversation. The pink haired girl was against the monkey bars, whimpering as the boys kept teasing her. "Fluttercry!", the one with brown hair said. "Clutzershy!" said the one with dirty blonde hair.
Rainbow got angrier and angrier. How could they speak to her like that! It was time to step in.
"Hey! Leave her alone!" Rainbow shouted angrily.
"Who do you think you are?" one of the boys yelled.
"Rainbow Dash, and I am sure you don't want to mess with me! Now leave. her. alone." Rainbow warned.
"What are you gonna do about it?" the one with blonde hair yelled and pushed Rainbow. Rainbow fell onto the ground and got her skirt covered in dirt.
The boys began laughing, "Looks like it's Rainbow Crash now." they jeered.
Other kids around the jungle gym saw and began chuckling too.
Rainbow felt her eyes sting. No one has ever called her that before, and she didn't like it. She shut her eyes and was filled with rage. She screamed and began chasing the boys around the playground.
The smirks on the boys' face suddenly turned into a look horror as Rainbow came running after them.
Rainbow proceeded to run around the playground and chase the boys. She began smiling, this was like a game to her.
"Okay okay! We'll leave her alone!", the brown haired one yelled.
"Just stay away from us!", said the blonde haired boy. The two then ran away from Rainbow as fast as they could.
Rainbow was proud of herself. She had just stood up to two big bullies. Dash then remembered who she was defending and ran towards the monkey bars, where she had seen the pink haired girl last.
Rainbow saw the girl right where she left her. The girl had her head in her knees.
"Hey, um..are you okay?", Rainbow asked nicely.
Rainbow saw a pair of teal eyes look up at her, but didn't get the response she expected.
Eep! was all that came from the behind the pink hair.
"I'm Rainbow Dash, I mean you probably already knew that...from the whole chase and all." Rainbow grinned sheepishly.
"T-T-Thanks..." the girl finally said.
Rainbow barely heard the response, but it was loud enough for her to hear.
"No problem! So...what's your name?" Rainbow said, the situation starting to get awkward.
"F-F-Fluttershy..." the girl said quietly.
"What was that? " Rainbow asked.
"Fluttershy.." she had said a little louder.
"That's an awesome name!" Rainbow said grinning.
"You think so?" Fluttershy asked meekly.
"Yeah, of course!" Rainbow replied,"You know..whatever those guys said to you, it probably isn't true." Rainbow continued, helping Fluttershy up off the ground.
"I know..." Fluttershy said quietly.
"So, who were those guys? They were big meanies!" Rainbow asked.
"Oh them...their names are Hoops and Dumb-Bell. They live next door to me and have been teasing me all summer. I'm used to it though." Fluttershy said glumly.
"Really?!" Rainbow said surprised, she was getting angry again.
"Yea..." Fluttershy said, she didn’t really want to talk anymore.
"How old are you? " Rainbow asked, she had been wondering that all day!
"Oh...um...." Fluttershy suddenly was very interested in her shoes.
"Well?" Rainbow was getting impatient.
"S-seven" Fluttershy said, blushing with embarrassment.
Seven? That's a whole two years older than Rainbow!
"Why are you still in kindergarten then?" Rainbow asked, oblivious to Fluttershy's embarrassment.
"I...I was a little slower than others in learning so I had to repeat kindergarten twice. B-But I'm sure that I'm going to pass on to first grade next year." Fluttershy said softly.
"Oh.." Rainbow said looking down. She began thinking about what those boys had called her, Crash. She was embarrassed, Rainbow saw some kids staring at her when she was pushed. She was sure she even saw a few laughing.
Rainbow's eyes started stinging again, now how was she supposed to make friends! Fluttershy would never want to be her friend after she saw that happen. Besides, Fluttershy seemed like all of the other girls in the class. Surely, Fluttershy would never want to be friends with someone so different.
"W-Well I better go...and leave you alone." Rainbow said, her voice cracking.
Fluttershy was surprised at Rainbow's change of attitude. She was just so happy a few moments ago! She needed to cheer Rainbow up somehow. Rainbow was there when she was upset, now it was her turn to make Rainbow happy.
"Wait!" Fluttershy called as loud as she could (Which wasn’t very loud).
Rainbow wiped her eyes quickly and turned around. "Yeah?" she replied.
Think Fluttershy! Say something! "Do you want to be friends?" Fluttershy said. It was the first thing that came to her mind and honestly, she never had a friend herself before. Fluttershy secretly hoped she had said yes.
Rainbow on the other hand was caught off guard by the question. Fluttershy? Wants to be friends with her? She had finally gotten what she had been waiting for all day. A friend, someone to play with and talk to! Rainbow began grinning and nodded rapidly. She was too excited to speak!
Fluttershy was eager as well, it was her first friend too!
For the remainder of recess the pair talked and laughed together. Rainbow had made her first and only friend, and she knew that she was lucky to have one. Therefore, Rainbow promised Fluttershy that she would always be there for her and she would never leave her hanging.
Rainbow Dash felt like a whole new person, she felt like she could do anything, she had a friend that she would always be there for. On that day, loyalty was born.
